Chapter 381 Macro and Micro
Chapter 381 Macro and Micro
……
Dawn Star.
Theseus left the transport ship in a transport plane and entered the planet's atmosphere.
She saw the outside world through the window.
This is a hive world with only one huge hive.
It also has the chaos and disorder that is common to hive worlds.
This confusion became particularly evident when the planet was sandwiched between the Nuceria Sector, the Five Hundred Worlds of Greater Ultramar, and the Empire, three human internal factions, but no one party claimed ownership of it.
When the transport plane entered the lower nest of the hive, Theseus saw the streets filled with smoke and chaotic crowds everywhere.
People discussed among themselves which force should take over them.
Nuceria, Ultramar, the Empire.
Choose one of the three and then fight dissidents in the streets.
The nobles, who once had a say based on their ruling status of tens of thousands of years, have now become spoils of war reserved by those with different opinions from the people because they have no support from any force.
The transport plane flew over the chaotic crowd and landed on the apron in front of a building.
Theseus glanced at the logo on top of the building - Crow Biology.
A biological company with a monopoly in Nukeriya.
The company's founder, Kromachi, is an always smiling gladiator uncle who treats Yochuka and her as his own sons or daughters. He brings a lot of warmth to Theseus, and now, he can also give Theseus a lot of help.
The door of the transport plane slowly rose.
Theseus got off the transport plane, and a man who had been waiting there for a long time came trotting over. He squinted his eyes and lowered his head in the airflow and roar of the transport plane's engine, and shouted to Theseus, "Welcome to Dawn Star! This godforsaken place where no one cares!"
The transport plane took off again, preparing to return to the transport ship to bring some equipment needed for the mission.
Theseus asked the man, "Neither Ultramar nor the Empire have occupied this place?"
"No." The man shook his head. "To the east of this damn place is Pompeii I in Nuceria, to the west is a world in Ultramar, and to the north is a world in the Empire. I don't know what the Empire is thinking for now, and Ultramar is probably waiting for the gods to come back and discuss with their Lord of Ultramar before making a decision."
God.
Hearing this word, Theseus subconsciously glanced at the man's accessories.
Among them was a word written in the local language of Nuceria, which was made into an emblem.
The badge plus the word "God" confirmed the man's identity - a believer in the faith of the Savior God of Nuceria.
"What the Empire is thinking is exactly what I came here to find out," Theseus said. "The briefing I received when I came here said that you would lead me to obtain intelligence quickly."
The man nodded, and then pulled over a two-meter-tall burly man with a cold face like a robot.
"He'll take you there," the man said.
Theseus looked at the extremely cold strong man.
The sturdy man had a blank expression on his face and dull eyes.
Theseus recalled one thing, that she had indeed seen some such people, in the City Eaters or now the World Eaters regular army.
They are just humans who are no different from robots.
These people were once the toys of the Murray family of the Fortress Territory. They were made into creatures similar to meat bricks, and only the faith in the God-King supported them to hold on until the Fortress Territory was captured and they were rescued.
These people are no different from machines; their original bodies look exactly like machines.
But after a group of Mechanicus called the Quadrants joined the World Eaters, these people received a wave of upgrades and modifications. They look exactly like normal people, but the mechanical bodies they use have more powerful combat power than Space Marines.
They are emotionless and cold-blooded, but because of their extreme fanaticism they are eager to sacrifice everything for the people they believe in, so they become excellent fighters and agents.
"I will protect your safety and carry out your orders." The burly man said in a voice as cold as a machine.
"What is your name?" Theseus asked.
"Servant No. 3." The sturdy man replied coldly, "I was the third meat brick in the Murray family's basement, counting from the door, so I am number three."
"Okay, number three." Theseus nodded and made a gesture of invitation, "Then I'll trouble you."
The man named Number Three immediately walked towards a car.
Theseus followed.
……
The car stopped in front of an inconspicuous bar.
Theseus noticed that this bar was located in the center of the three main residential areas in the lower hive of the hive city. Thinking of the Kro Biological Corporation building he had just seen, he immediately realized that the hive city had actually been divided into power areas, and this bar was a microcosm of this hive world.
It is not located on the territory of any force and is completely neutral.
Number Three enters the bar with Theseus.
The whole bar was filled with smoke.
Theseus saw some bounty hunters from the Empire who were about to go to Nuceria to sign a contract to explore the forging engine. They were wearing the emblem of their bounty hunting team.
There were also some people engaged in black trade whispering in the corner.
Theseus heard them discussing which route would take to get the shipload of people to the Ultramar refugee reception center, or to the Pompeii I in Nuceria.
There were others who were talking about things Theseus considered more important.
That is, in this hive world, a firefight broke out somewhere, a lot of robots with full body prosthetics died, or a dead big guy was found in a stinky ditch.
Theseus realized that it was a trace of the conflict that the intelligence officers had had. Nuceria and the Mechanicus had no contact now, just like before, but in fact, the people of Nuceria would carry out bloody conflicts one after another in Nuceria or outside, assassinations or open wars continued.
The situation is already quite serious.
Even before coming here, Theseus had heard information from Nuceria's intelligence service, which clearly stated that some assassins from the Empire had fought on Pompeii I with personnel from the planet's internal intelligence service.
So Theseus was also prepared for a battle here.
"Inside." The bar owner said to Number Three.
Number Three silently led Theseus through a door guarded by bodyguards and into a large room filled with smoke and with shockingly poor air quality.
Here, Theseus saw people from many forces.
Red-robed monks of the Mechanicus, bureaucrats or operatives of the Imperial institutions, Space Marines wearing various types of armor... they came from everywhere, and there was even a subhuman who looked like a beastman.
One can tell at a glance what force they come from, because they themselves are civilized people standing in the light of a force, so they do not hide their identities, just like Nuceria and the Empire are now conducting civilized and peaceful exchanges on the surface.
Number Three led Theseus past a subhuman.
The beastman was talking to a woman who was obviously from the moon of Nuceria I, discussing the terms of a deal regarding an underground industrial facility on the hive world.
"We killed the gang members and devoured their flesh and blood. As long as your price is reasonable, I will let my subordinates sell those industrial facilities to you immediately!"
"Then let's talk about the price."
The beastman was communicating with the woman of Nuwei.
Theseus remembered that Numata had been trying to recycle industrial facilities and the like since a long time ago, and they also had their own recycling department, an organization similar to Qin Xia's Society for the Study of Human History.
Running around and buying industrial facilities.
These actions were not reported and approved by the Governor of Nu Star.
But in Theseus's opinion, this is normal. The various small forces under a huge powerful organization will always have their own calculations. After all, human beings are a species with diversity and self-awareness. Of course, it is impossible for a force to be a large group of followers composed of yes-men.
"We can return the ships we captured during the border conflict to you..."
A World Eater glanced at Theseus as he walked by, then continued speaking to the Ultramarines in front of him.
“But you also have to return the seized resources to us.”
"This is the condition of the deal. In addition, I have a handwritten letter from Archon Pompeii No. 1. This is evidence you can present when reporting to your superiors."
The Ultramarines opposite took the handwritten letter from Archon Pompeii No. 1 and nodded: "I believe the Governor will agree."
Theseus didn't find it strange to hear the conversation between the two.
Friction has arisen on the border between Ultramar and Nuceria, and this is normal.
Even if the two Primarchs of Nuceria and Ultramar signed a treaty, it would only be macro-friendly and cooperative. The previous conflicts would not be resolved or stopped because of macro-friendly cooperation, but they would not bring the matter to Angron or Guilliman either...
Just like the posters on the walls of the border planets of Ultramar, no matter how much the locals throw shit at the World Eaters shaking hands with the Ultramarines on the posters, and curse the World Eaters on Pompeii I for always intercepting the refugees who were supposed to be added to the local planet, a new poster will still be put up the next day.
Number Three brought Theseus to a Mechanicus member.
The Mechanicus glanced at Number Three, took out a chip and placed it on the table, and then the nearby sounds were isolated from the space around the two men.
After doing this, he glanced at the other man drinking in the corner before saying to Theseus, "Your people have discussed this with me before. I hope we can reach a deal without any problems."
Theseus nodded, took out the suitcase and handed it to the Mechanicus.
The man took it and handed a data pad to Theseus, then opened the suitcase and took a look at the technical information provided by the Quadrant. He nodded with great satisfaction and said, "My mentor told me to tell you that if you want to trade anything, just tell me. He also needs some information that the Quadrant Sage can provide. Fortunately, Mars has been promoted to Technical Sage."
Theseus glanced at the dataslate.
What is stored above is intelligence.
Intelligence indicates that Mars has lobbied the Imperial War Council and Malcador's loyalists to launch simultaneous operations against Nuceria.
In the plan, Dawnstar will become a bait and a target. Once Nuceria wants to occupy this place, the Empire will immediately take action and make a big fuss.
The intelligence also contains some materials used to prove the authenticity of the intelligence, such as meeting recordings, photos of the Mechanicus meeting with members of the War Committee, and some internal planning documents.
Theseus was able to gain an unexpected reward, and then asked the Mechanicus: "Your mentor should be of a very high level, and you must be very courageous... You even dare to sell this kind of information, aren't you undermining the Forge General?"
"You don't have to trick me, little girl. I'm going to be straightforward with you."
The man snorted coldly.
"After that bastard Kel Bohar became the Forge General, my mentor was left out. When his plan succeeds, he won't be able to give my mentor a share of the spoils. What does he care about Kel Bohar's bullshit plans?"
After the appendages wrapped around the file box, the Mechanicus continued, "I'm not telling you this because I'm stupid, but because my mentor wants you to understand through me that he really needs... you know, remember that there is a person like him. If there is any opportunity for deeper cooperation, be sure to think of him."
After saying that, he glanced at No. 3 next to him and said, "Your servitor knows where to find me."
Theseus nodded.
The Mechanicus in front of him stood up, then seemed to think that Theseus was too young and might not understand some things, so he sat back down.
"My mentor is the kind of person who even uses the money Kelborhar gave me to rent a house in this hive world."
"Even if it's just to disgust Kelbohar, he's willing to do it, understand?"
Seeing Theseus nod, he pointed to the people sitting and drinking in the corner of the room.
"He came with me. He wanted to find a way out for his masters on the war council, a way out in Nuceria."
Theseus looked at the man drinking.
The other raised his glass in greeting, then cast a look of gratitude toward the Mechanicus staff.
