Chapter 409 Ruined on the Face

Chapter 409 Ruined on the Face
"What are those people at the round table talking about?"

At the meeting seat, Durr sat among the crowd, and the voices of his companions came from the communicator on his ear.

The square-looking man subconsciously glanced at the meeting table.

Some who shared his dissatisfaction with Kavak's rule and believed that the entire Caliban administration had been infiltrated by evil beliefs were scattered around the council.

There were less than ten of them, and including the servants they brought, there were less than twenty of them.

"I don't know," Durr replied. "There is no need to analyze the behavior and language of a group of fanatical lunatics."

"What are Luther and Starbreaker's plans?" Another colleague's voice was heard over the communicator.

"They originally wanted to assassinate the people on the list provided by the Governor one by one, but... you also saw that Kavak was like a madman to hold this meeting after escaping death." Dur answered, "I guess Luther and Starbreaker were caught off guard by Kavak's stupidity, but they will definitely find a way and will definitely show up here."

"After this incident, all imperial administrators will lose their prestige on Caliban, and the Caliban natives will gain the upper hand." Another person said, "This is all caused by that madman Kavak. We must make him die first!"

"..."

Durr felt a little nervous and his hands and feet were cold.

Including servants and imperial personnel, there were nearly two thousand people in the entire conference hall.

In Durr's opinion, 99% of the more than 2,000 people were enemies, the remaining 0.9% were ignorant fools, and the last 0.1% were himself and like-minded people.

Next, Kavak might declare rebellion, or perform some terrible rituals with those wizards and priests... Dur learned a lot from Luther, including that those who believe in gods do have some supernatural powers...

Durr thought that he, together with less than ten other people and less than ten servants, could fight against ninety-nine percent of the people in this parliament hall and kill Kavak before Luther and Starbreaker arrived to prove that not all imperial personnel were bribed or corrupted by Kavak.

Although he felt nervous, he was not afraid. Instead, his blood was boiling.

"The priests are looking towards the meeting table. They might want to do something, take action?" asked a colleague.

Dur nodded slightly: "I think Starbreaker and Luther's people will be here soon... Anyway, we are the only ones here who are interested in fighting Kavak, so what are we waiting for?"

Several people at the meeting table looked towards where Durr was and quietly reached under their seats.

"The time to sacrifice your life for justice is now!"

Dur glared at Kavak and reached under the seat as well.

"I'll count to three."

"three."

"..."

"For the Imperial Truth!"

From the corner of the meeting room, a roar echoed throughout the conference hall.

Dur, who did nothing, was stunned for half a second, then looked at everyone in the meeting seat who was ready to fight alongside him against Kavak. Those people were as confused as he was.

Dur looked towards the corner of the meeting table again.

An old man stood up, and his prosthetic arms that looked no different from normal limbs began to extend, with two black gun barrels pointing at Kavak and others at the round table.

Several others also shouted and stood up for the Imperial Truth, and their servants began to raise their weapons against those nearby who followed Kavak or believed in the ancient gods.

Before Durr could figure out what was going on, a burst of gunfire suddenly rang out in the passage leading to the parliament hall, and a group of mortal soldiers in army uniforms rushed into the conference hall, trampling on the bodies of other soldiers.

While everyone was stunned, the man dressed as an officer raised his weapon, pulled the trigger at an imperial officer he found at random, and shouted: "Long live Caliban!"

All this happened in a very short time. The conference hall suddenly became a mess. Imperial personnel fought each other. Soldiers who appeared from nowhere shouted in the native language of Caliban and fired indiscriminately.

Dur, who had no combat experience, was stunned for a long time until he saw Kavak, who was sitting at the round table, suddenly crawl on the ground towards the emergency exit of the hall in the chaos. Dur then reacted and immediately lay on the ground, taking a shortcut under the chair to the exit.

As things progressed far beyond expectations, all of Durr's previous plans and established cognitions were broken, and now he could only do whatever he thought of.

"For Caliban's brothers and sisters!"

A colleague at Dur's feet was thrown onto a chair by a soldier who shouted "Long live Caliban", and soon blood dripped onto Dur's head through the cracks in the chair.

Dur didn't dare to stop and continued crawling.

"For the Imperial Truth!"

"For the true God!"

Two roars reached Dur's ears. Two imperial personnel were wrestling with each other beside him. Their servants had already died beside them. Only they, who had little fighting ability, were left biting each other's throats for each other's beliefs.

Durr was extremely sure that all this was not arranged by him, nor by Luther and the others, otherwise at least he would not be completely unaware of what was happening, and he would not sit in a chair like he did just now, thinking that he and less than ten like-minded people were the only ones willing to fight against Kavak.

"Imperial livestock!"

Dur was suddenly pulled up from the ground by a soldier. Then he saw that the soldier who was pulling his clothes had a ferocious look on his face and gritted his teeth.

"This blow is for my downtrodden brothers and sisters of Caliban!"

The soldier stabbed Durr in the abdomen with a dagger.

Durr was unable to dodge and was stabbed hard. He fell to the ground and looked blankly at Kavak who had already touched the emergency exit door.

Fortunately, after one of the many gunshots, the soldier who was obviously a Caliban fell to the ground. Durr took a few breaths and continued to crawl on the ground. Finally, he and Kavak rushed out of the extremely chaotic conference hall one after another. …

The moment the emergency exit door closed, the whole world became silent.

In order to prevent the things discussed by the imperial administrators in the hall from being spread out, the doors and walls here are made of sound-isolating metal.

Kavak ran wildly in the empty corridor. After running a few steps, he fell to the ground inexplicably. He looked back in pain, but saw that there was no debris in the corridor. He just fell flat on the ground. It was really strange.

It was when he looked back that Dur's figure appeared in Kavak's eyes.

The square-faced man staggered closer, one hand covering his bleeding stomach and the other pointing a pistol at Kavak.

"Man..." Kavak raised his left hand to signal Durr not to shoot, and his right hand quietly reached for his waist.

Durr shot Kavak's right hand, and the bullet with a special explosive warhead blew Kavak's entire right arm into pieces.

Kavak's face was distorted with pain but he managed to hold back the scream that was about to come out.

"Stand up right there..." Dur looked towards the storage room nearby.

Kavak stood up with great pain and was forced into the utility room.

Durr reached out to close the door, then locked it. He pointed a gun at Kavak while looking for something to bandage himself. Finally, he tore a sheet to bandage the wound and returned to Kavak.

Durr has some combat experience.

He held the pistol in both hands, without raising or even stretching his arms to aim at Kavak, but instead kept his arms lowered and held the gun as close as possible.

Kavak, who had already lost an arm, saw that he couldn't even snatch the gun, so he could only endure the pain and slowly retreat.

Durr continued to move closer, and after taking a few steps he suddenly lost strength. He simply stopped next to a wall, leaned against the wall and slowly slid down to the ground, panting while holding the gun, still pointing it at Kavak.

"Your stomach..." Kavak endured the pain and became concerned about Dur.

But his little eyes, uncovered by his eyebrows, looked malicious.

"You traitor... traitor... I represent the imperial truth..." Dur spoke tremblingly.

Kavak seemed to realize something was wrong, glanced at the gun in Durr's hand, then exhaled and sat down.

"Do you think you and your few fringe misfits are the only ones who fight against evil beliefs?"

Kavak interrupted Dur's intermittent words, took out the potion and gave himself an injection in the neck. After the bleeding in his arm stopped due to the effect of the potion, he began to use his left hand to reach into the broken arm of his right hand to remove the bone fragments.

Durr thought about what had just happened.

Those who shouted the Imperial truth... they should be another group of people who are against Kavak, but they are so strict in following the lesson of keeping things secret that they have kept it secret until now. Even Luther and the Star Crusher don't know that there is such a group of people among the Imperial personnel.

As for the soldiers who broke into the conference hall... they should be the local resistance organization of Caliban. They should have been planning today's incident for a long time. In their eyes, Luther and the Lion King who perhaps compromised with the Empire were traitors of Caliban, so they did not tell Luther about their affairs.

"Who brought them together?" Kavak glanced at the corridor outside, and occasionally groaned as he spoke because of the bone fragments. "Don't you have any brains? I didn't have the opportunity to meet you alone, but I thought you were a smart person. You knew what I was doing..."

"But you idiot didn't tell Luther at all!"

"Luckily I pushed the priest's bag away in the sewer earlier, and I have some evidence to prove what I've been doing, otherwise I would be dead."

Hearing this, Dur frowned and refuted: "You sidelined the governor and colluded with the followers of those evil beliefs..."

"Can you read people's minds or what?" Kavak said coldly, "That bastard doesn't want the evil faith to be exposed one day and then he will be blamed, so he forced me to do this and that. That's why I can represent the governor and gain the trust of those priests. I can do things, and do more than you!"

"The list in the priest's package is the names of people who were hiding among the fanatics like me. They did a lot of things with me."

"..."

“Bullshit,” Durr said.

"Believe it or not, your gun is jammed." Kavak pulled out another piece of bone with explosive fragments stuck in it. "You couldn't even predict that the explosive warhead would cause your antique to jam. What else can you do? We are all relying on you. We are infiltrated by the Imperials."

Dur was speechless for a moment, then he thought, no matter whether what Kavak said was true or false, his willpower was indeed at the level of a rare talent among humans. He didn't even scream when his arm was blown to pieces.

"You're dead no matter what," Durr said. "Even if I bleed to death, even if I can't kill you before I die, don't think you can survive by lying and cheating. Starbreaker and Luther have already made up their minds about you!"

"What do you mean?" Kavak was stunned for a moment, "After I provided that list, they still thought there was something wrong with me?"

"They said you...have a bad face...you don't look like a good person..." said Durr.

Kavak was stunned again, but this time for a long time.

Two lines of hot tears flowed from his tiny eyes, and he suddenly became depressed.

"When we were selecting members for the War Council on Terra... I thought I was the best one... But the Emperor took one look at me and sent me to another organization..."

"My whole life..."

Kavak leaned his head against the wall, tears streaming down his face.

"My life is really ruined by my appearance..."
