Chapter 436 Debate and Rebuke

Chapter 436 Debate and Rebuke
……

night.

The Great Library of Tizca.

In a library, Magnus stood in front of a bookshelf that was dozens of meters high, reading and selecting books with his psychic powers.

After selecting a book, Magnus will use his psychic power to extract it and place it in a container nearby.

Just then, the door of the library was pushed open.

Magnus did not stop reading and selecting, but used his psychic power to sense and found that the person who came in was not Qin Xia, but Avida.

Avida walked into the library with her head lowered.

Magnus still waved his hands and used his psychic power to extract the books.

It was as if the Primarch was the accuser, and Avida was the one who was accused of doing something wrong.

"What does my good brother's adoptive father research?"

"I'm going to give you some books as a gift. Do you think the books in the container are suitable as gifts?"

Magnus stood in front of the bookshelf, waving his arms.

A book floats down from the shelf and lands in the container.

"He studies psionics, technology...it seems like there's nothing he doesn't study or isn't good at." Avida answered in a soft voice.

"Oh, that's good." After selecting the books, Magnus used his psychic power to close the lid of the container.

Avida stopped and looked at the Gene Father.

"Do you want me to punish you?" Magnus turned back to look at his son. "I don't think you feel sorry for the accusation. You just feel that you betrayed the Legion and your brothers."

Avida nodded silently.

"You are not from Prospero. No one in Prospero's history has ever been convicted for speech."

Magnus motioned for his offspring to sit at the library reading table.

But Avida just stood there, motionless.

"I know that we just have a conflict of ideologies, just like the Lord of the White Knights is the same as you. He doesn't understand me and is hostile to me."

"But it doesn't matter. Seeking common ground while reserving differences is the choice of the wise, while fools will only tend to physically destroy those who disagree."

After hearing what the Primarch said, Avida felt more and more guilty, and helpless at the same time.

"I did betray the Legion, but I don't think I did anything wrong in accusing you," Avida said. "Conflicts in ideology are the most terrifying. For the sake of interests, people will fight to the point of compromise, and for different ideologies, people will fight to the point of death."

"That's a very insightful comment." Magnus praised, "But we are not just people arguing over our own ideas. We are also father and son, so we won't fight to the death."

Avida nodded silently.

"Avida."

"When you join the Legion, the person responsible for guiding you is Asar. He is a follower of my philosophy. We share the same ideals and goals."

When Magnus mentioned this, Arvida suddenly looked up and looked into the Primarch's eyes.

"He understands this, and I thought you could too..."

Magnus did not know that the body of the person in front of him named Avida was the soul of Asar.

The supporters and followers of his so-called ideas were now against him.

"Avida" recalled the past, recalled his old friend who died because of credulity and carelessness, and recalled how he survived.

"Remember the fable I told you about? The one about the shadows in the cave..."

Just as Magnus was about to continue, Avida took a step forward with his right leg, pointed at Magnus and roared.

"Stop talking about that fable, it's pure bullshit!"

"You are not a person who has seen the light at all. You are just a fool who thinks you have seen the light and then worships and recommends that evil light to others as a good thing!"

"The people in the cave who are afraid of light are not stupid. They are the prudent and wise ones. They are the ones who are right!"

Avida snapped.

"The Lord of the White Knights has refuted your so-called fables. You are the one who used radioactive substances as cosmetics in the 20th century AD!"

"The companies that make cosmetics are exploiting your health and wealth. They are bad and you are stupid!"

Magnus looked at his offspring calmly, not understanding why he was angry and speaking rudely, but out of habit, he listened patiently.

Avida paced around the library, swearing as he went.

"I'm an idiot too! It's because I'm an idiot that I believe your theories and think that a hellhole full of evil is beautiful and kind!" "And the one who paid the price for this was not me, but my best brother..."

At this point, Avida gritted his teeth.

"He paid the price for my stupidity. He was influenced by me. I bear the greatest responsibility for his death!"

"So even though I'm here to await your and the Legion's trial, I never regret bringing charges against you at the Terra Council and making you receive the punishment you deserve! And I never regret getting the punishment I deserve as a traitor to the Legion after this matter is over!"

Hearing this, Magnus remained calm.

He knew that Avida was going to say something incomprehensible...something weird like demons, evil gods, etc.

Just as Arvida explained to all the Thousand Sons in the Great Library of Prospero when she returned to Prospero for the first time after Asar's death...

"Child," Magnus said softly, "I have never said that the Warp is beautiful and kind. It is a mysterious place, and there must be some dark and evil beings in it, but based on our experience and the facts we have seen, benevolent beings are the majority."

Avida was so angry that he took a deep breath, and the words he wanted to say were stuck in his chest.

"There is a price to pay in the process of exploring light, but if we are scared and completely give up the exploration and pursuit of light, we will stay in the cave forever, afraid of light, and think that everything we see is the whole world. We are so foolish and ignorant that it is ridiculous." Magnus added.

Seeing that Arvida was silent, Magnus slowly shook his head: "You are very excited now, and it is not suitable for debate. Let's talk about this matter again when we have a chance. In fact, you mentioned before how the Lord of the White Knights evaluated me... I think he can understand me to some extent. After all, he is a light seeker who bravely explored the warp."

"He is so calm and at ease in an absolutely safe state!" Avida shouted angrily, "He doesn't even have a soul projection. The demons are helpless against him. He can break through the curtain if he wants to. But what about you and us?!"

"Perhaps, he is also a knowledge monopolist like the Mechanicus," said Magnus.

Avida took a few deep breaths and wanted to argue for the Lord of the White Knights, but he hesitated to speak, and finally gave up.

The Primarch spoke again: "Rest, child. Don't worry about being punished for your words. You are not a traitor. You can stay in Pro..."

"No, of course I am a traitor." Arvida pointed at Magnus, "I will not stay in Prospero. I will fight against you, against lunatics like you, and against the trauma and abominations left by your crazy actions in the real universe. I will spend my whole life doing this, until I die of old age like a mortal thousands of years later, and my soul will roar in the warp!"

Magnus shrugged helplessly.

Arvida turned away in anger.

The library door is closed.

When the door opened again, Qin Xia stepped in and looked at Magnus.

"It's a failed argument." Magnus smiled helplessly, then walked to the container with books. "This is the knowledge I carefully selected. It is the most precious gift that the Prospero people will give to their guests. I don't know what you specialize in, so I picked some of them."

Qin Xia took off his helmet and held it in his hand, then walked to the container.

But he only glanced at the books, and his eyes immediately fell on Magnus.

"Anyway, I have accused you. Enemies cannot accept or send gifts to each other," Qin Xia said.

"No, we are not enemies. We are just like-minded people." Magnus said calmly, "Perhaps in your Nuceria, dissidents often choose to solve problems with weapons, or escalate ideological conflicts to the point of hostility, but this is not the case in Prospero."

Hearing this, Qin Xia felt mixed emotions.

There is a sense of helplessness that nothing can make sense, but also a sense of gratitude.

"I will be interrogated by my brothers tomorrow, and then I will go to Terra," Magnus said. "By then, those knowledge monopolists of the Mechanicum may be eyeing Prospero and the Legion without a Master. I know you are also fighting against those people, so I hope you can help my Legion and my home planet after I leave."

"Whatever the clash of ideas among us wise men..."

"I think we should unite against a group of intellectual robbers."

Qin Xia nodded in agreement with what the Primarch said.

"I also hope that you can promise me something on behalf of my twelfth brother." Magnus spoke again after a brief silence.

Qin Xia listened quietly.

"Not all the Primarchs who came to Prospero are like Angron. Some of them are barbarians who are more terrible than the knowledge robbers. I hope that no matter what the situation is, Prospero will not be destroyed." Magnus looked up at the ceiling meaningfully. His sight seemed to penetrate the building and reach the fleet outside the galaxy.

Then the Primarch lowered his head, watching and waiting for Qin Xia's promise.

"I promise that Prospero will not be destroyed." Qin Xia promised in a serious tone.

"Now I can leave here with peace of mind."

"You just want a promise?"

"Yes, a promise."

Magnus stared at Qin Xia.

"You can teach my brother to have the same character and abilities. You must be a trustworthy person. Your words must have a substantial effect like a psychic contract. However, the effectiveness of such a promise will not be directly manifested in the real universe."

"I also know that if someone tries to destroy your promise, you must be able and willing to make them pay a heavy price."

After listening, Qin Xia nodded silently.
