Chapter 51 Mutants at the Cross Auction
Link Town is not far from Nevada. At 10:00 p.m., the group entered Nevada.

Logan drove the car all the way to Victor's apartment building and parked in the driveway next to it.

“A big city.”

Caliban almost leaned against the car window, looking at the skyscrapers of Las Vegas.

There were tall buildings everywhere, heavy traffic, and a bustling city. The afternoon breeze seemed to carry the scent of money, but it was this scenery that made him feel deeply out of place.

“Las Vegas is still the same as I remember it.”

The shadow of the poster was reflected in Charles' pupils. On it were some casino advertisements. The slogans gave people the illusion that they could become billionaires after entering the casino.

"I'm going upstairs to find Victor. You guys wait for me in the car, don't go out."

Logan said as he was about to get out of the car.

But Laura in the passenger seat patted his arm, pointed to a piece of paper with hope in her eyes.

On the paper was an address: "Eden - North Dakota - 48.97033N, 102.155491"

Looking at the address which was even marked with longitude and latitude, Logan nodded. He understood what Laura meant. The little girl hoped to get to the place where she could reunite with her friends as soon as possible.

"Don't worry, since I promised Gabriela, I will definitely take you there, but not now. Give me a few days. I need to meet an uncle now."

Logan ruffled Laura's hair and whispered reassurances to her.

Laura put away the paper, nodded obediently, and then continued to lie on the window, looking at the bustling city curiously.

Growing up in a laboratory, she is curious about everything around her.

Logan opened the door, got out of the car, and trotted all the way to Victor's apartment.

The apartment was still as shabby as last time. He reached out and knocked on the door, but after waiting for a long time, no one responded. Logan couldn't help but increase his strength, and the door frame made a loud noise.

Click.

The door opened, but it was not Victor's door, but that of a black neighbor next door.

The neighbor stuck half of his head out and said impatiently, "Why are you knocking? No one is home!"

Logan quickly asked, "Where did he go?"

The neighbor looked annoyed, "Who knows, it might have been thrown into the sea to feed the sharks!"

As soon as these words came out, Logan's eyes turned cold instantly.

The black man was obviously panicked, but he realized that Logan was not easy to mess with, so his attitude quickly softened. He said quickly, "He might have caused trouble. He was taken away a few days ago and hasn't come back yet."

Logan was startled and quickly asked again: "Who took it away?"

“Man, you can’t expect me to know everyone in Las Vegas.”

The black man pursed his lips, paused, and then seemed to think of something, and continued, "Oh, right, I seem to have seen the people who took your friend away in a certain casino. They had a conflict at the time, knocked over a lot of dishes and chopsticks, and made quite a noise. When I went out to check, he had already been taken away. Your friend must have owed gambling debts to the casino, but so many days have passed, he may have been sold to a black kiln a long time ago. I'm afraid you won't be able to redeem him even if you take the ransom."

After saying that, the black man quickly retracted his head and slammed the door.

Logan glanced at Victor's door, and then he noticed a thin layer of dust on the handle, which seemed to have been untouched for several days. Thinking back to the black man's words, Logan frowned, went downstairs and returned to the car, briefly told Charles about the situation, and drove them to a nearby hotel for temporary stay.

And he returned to the car, thinking about the forces that might take Victor away.

He must find Victor. After all, he is Wolverine's only relative in this world. After so many separations, he doesn't want this last brother to leave again.

evening.

Logan parked his car outside a casino, turned off the engine and lights, sat in the car smoking, and stared at the casino through the smoke.

As night falls, casinos are busiest. Customers come from all directions, carrying gambling money with them, dreaming of getting rich overnight. When they step into the casino door, under the dazzling neon lights, they feel as if they have reached the pinnacle of their lives.

The owner of this casino is Notland, who is also Victor's boss. At this moment, the lights in the office on the second floor of the casino are on, and from time to time, figures walk through the curtains.

Logan stared at the office. Even if the most likely person to take Victor away was not Notland, he must be an insider.

But Logan didn't intend to go in and question him directly, as that would be too stupid.

After all, the security guards in the casino are not vegetarians. If they find out that he is forcing their boss, there will inevitably be a conflict. In that case, Victor may not be saved, but instead he will attract Dr. Rice or people from S.H.I.E.L.D.

It's not appropriate for him to make any big noise now.

As cigarettes turned into butts, the night gradually deepened and the lights on the second floor of the office finally went out.

Logan put out the cigarette in his hand, walked with his head down among the crowd, went all the way to the back door, climbed up to the second floor along the water pipe, and walked into the corridor.

There was singing and gamblers shouting wildly below, but the second floor was very quiet. The building was soundproofed so that no noise could get in.

Logan quietly walked to the door of Notland's office, put his ear to the door, and listened vigilantly to the movements inside.

After making sure there was no sound of anyone breathing inside, Logan pushed the door open and walked in.

The room was extremely dark, with thick curtains blocking out any colored lights from outside the window. If an ordinary person came here, they probably wouldn't even know how to get around.

Fortunately, Logan's eyes can see more clearly in the dark than in the daytime.

He walked straight to Notland's desk.

It can be seen that Mr. Notland seems to have encountered some bad things recently. The ashtray is full of cigar butts, there are several empty bottles of red wine on the table, and various documents are in a mess on the table, all of which are financial reports and tax rates of several casinos.

Logan had no interest in whether he had evaded taxes. He carefully opened the drawer and slowly looked for any clues about Victor.

After searching for a while, Logan found a report at the bottom of the drawer. It was a debt notice, which stated that Notland owed 50 million US dollars. Even if he sold all the casinos under his name, it would not be enough to pay off such a large debt.

Logan carefully checked the documents and realized that the debt was due to Notland's loss in an investment project. If it was not repaid within a month, the wealthy businessman would be completely bankrupt.

“Isn’t there any useful value?”

He had no interest in whether the wealthy businessman went bankrupt, but another document underneath the document instantly caught his attention.

The document says 'Cross Auction'

This should just be an official letter from an auction, but what really caught Logan's attention was the content below, which marked the item for the auction - 'Mutants'.
