The master said, "This means to rest and guard the grain, be quiet and do nothing, meditate, observe the abstinence from speech and fast, or practice sleeping skills, or practice standing skills, and enter into meditation and seclusion."

Wukong asked: "Can you achieve immortality this way?"

The ancestor said: "This is to have an active and productive action, to gather yin to replenish yang, to climb the bow and step on the crossbow, to rub the navel to pass the qi, to use prescriptions to prepare, to burn grass and beat the cauldron, to take red lead, to refine autumn stone, and to take women's milk and the like."

Wukong asked: "Can this also lead to immortality?"

The master said: "This desire for longevity is like catching the moon in the water."

Wukong said, "Master is here again! How can it be called 'fishing for the moon in the water'?"

The master said: "The moon is in the sky, and its shadow is in the water. Although you can see it, you can't reach it, so it's just empty."

Wukong doesn't think highly of the techniques, flows, movements and stillness provided by Patriarch Bodhi, but they are already considered top professions in the world of immortal cultivation.
