Chapter 28 Remarks on the launch

Chapter 28 Remarks on the launch
First, let me talk to you about the public version of the plot and updates:
I have seen everyone's complaints, but this is the style of this book. There is a lot of foreshadowing at the beginning, which is an inevitable result of the structure, not something I did to drag it out.

After all, I don’t have millions of words to explain the protagonist’s background and this world clearly before the beginning, so naturally I have to use more words at the beginning to create a believable world for everyone.

This is one of the reasons why I hesitated to write this story at first:

I just feel that if I tell everyone at the beginning that Chinese football has produced a world superstar who can win the Ballon d'Or and is ranked among the top three in world football... I am afraid that many readers will not believe it and will find it difficult to empathize with the story.

I can’t just tell you in the author’s tone that Wang Lie is awesome and is among the top three in the world and expect you to believe it.

I have to prove in various ways that he was once very powerful. Only then can you gradually accept this magical fact...

This is also the technique and approach I used when I wrote Fox in the Forbidden Zone, so it seems that there will be a lot of side descriptions and foreshadowing.

This is when I have five or six thousand words in one chapter.

This is also one of the reasons why I want to change the update rhythm.

If it is still like the previous book, with a chapter of over 3,000 words and two updates a day, I am afraid the pace will feel even slower and more watered down… The content density of 3,000 words and 5,000 words is different, and I will not write less content just because a chapter has 3,000 words. I will still write it as I should.

But this will make people feel that updating twice a day still doesn't advance the plot, it's still slow, and it's still watered down.

I saw some people complaining that the pace of this book is too slow, not as good as "Fox in the Forbidden Zone"...

Brother, the beginning of "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" has a slower pace, is more abusive, and more urging. And that slow pace is what I have been sticking to since "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" and into this book.

If you don’t believe me, ask those friends who have been following the novel “Fox in the Forbidden Zone” since the book was first published?
You think the pace of Fox in the Forbidden Zone is not slow, maybe it’s because the book already had several million words when you read it, and you read it in one go. Many of the places that seemed slow and boring when it was serialized are all full of wonderful foreshadowing, plots and descriptions.

When you start catching up with the latest chapter and want to catch up, you will still feel that it is slow.

The reason why it seems that not so many people say that my writing is water may be because I deleted all the comments saying that my writing is water... because I don't think it is water. I think that the main text of Fox in the Forbidden Zone has a total of 766 words, and not a single word is wasted, so I do not accept the criticism that my writing is water.

This book is the same. I have written more than 100,000 or 200,000 words. So far, I have repeatedly pondered every chapter and every sentence and wrote them to the best of my ability. I still don’t think that even a single punctuation mark is redundant. I believe that if you read it patiently, you will definitely agree with my point of view.

I even feel that as long as you have watched my "Fox in the Forbidden Zone", you should have this kind of tacit understanding with me.

It is precisely because of the success of "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" that I insisted on this style in "Reversal". And this book really needs this style.

When I write a book, I tend to think more about how it will feel when I read it as a whole after finishing it, and I won't ruin the rhythm of the whole book just for the sake of the viewing experience during serialization.

This is my habit and style. The style is different and you may not like it, but I don’t think it’s bad.

It’s just that in today’s fast-paced era, it’s a bit of a disadvantage. So the follow-up reading data of this book is actually not good…

But I will stick to this style and continue writing. Whether it is good or bad, I will comment on it after the book is finished. When "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" was just started serializing, it was always accompanied by various controversies, and the performance after it was put on the shelves was also terrible, but I still insisted on finishing it, and finished it completely according to my ideas. In the end, I think I handed in the best answer sheet in my 20 years of work.

Of course, I admit that the update is slow.

Updating once a day is indeed slow and totally does not meet the current market demand.

As a reader, I also wish that my favorite books would be updated three or four times a day...

If possible, as an author, I also hope that I can update three or four times a day, so that everyone can read it happily. If everyone is happy, I am happy too. If the subscription is high, I will be even happier...

But there is no way. Now I am like Wang Lie without the plug-in. I have the will but not the ability...

Wang Lie is only 38 years old, and I am 42 years old.

I finished one chapter every day, and it was very difficult to write the second chapter. I was lucky if I could finish the beginning of the second chapter by the time I went to bed. I was really exhausted physically and mentally, and I couldn't control my desire to play and relax.

In order to force myself to concentrate on writing, I would go to the library early in the morning to queue up and grab a seat, because I could write more efficiently in the library.

Even though it’s hard for my wife, she has to get up early with me every day and go to the library with me…

"Black Myth: Wukong" is so popular that I only played it in the afternoon and evening of the 20th. I haven't opened the game since the next day. At most, I watched the plot animation on the small broken station.

I'm just afraid of delaying typing.

So everyone thinks it’s slow, I agree, but I also have to say that this is the result of my best efforts...

Actually, I want to say: As long as I am alive and don’t stop writing, I will still have a lot of time to accompany you, including the past 22 years, this book, and the future. So don’t be too obsessed with the speed of one day or one night…

I also thought about whether I should update all the stories about Wang Lie in Sofulian at once on the first day of the novel's publication. I guess there wouldn't be so much controversy then.

But on the one hand, I really don't have that many manuscripts in stock, and on the other hand, the editor won't allow me to do so - there is a word limit for the new book period, and if I write too many chapters at a time, the new book period will be greatly shortened, which will also be extremely unfavorable for arranging various recommendations.

Anyway, this is the situation. I have told you everything honestly. I hope you can understand. It is really not easy for middle-aged men...

※※※

This is the tenth time I have written a "book review". In my 22-year career, I have written 12 books, totaling more than 42 million words. Only the first book, "Do You Care If I Play Football?" and the third book, "Born to Be a Loser," have not been published, so there is no review for them.

Thinking back to when I wrote the commentary for the release of “Winner is King”, I was still reviewing my ten years of writing Wang Wen. Now the second decade has passed, and I have officially entered the third decade…

And for the past twenty-two years, I have only written about football.

When I think about it, I find it incredible myself.

Given the current environment of Chinese football and the declining trend of traditional sports being impacted by e-sports, I can still write about football and make money to support my family. I really want to thank all of you who provide me with food and clothing. Thank you.

Now that I am almost 42 years old, all I can do is to write my novel as seriously as possible, tell you a good story, and live up to every subscription, every monthly ticket and every comment of yours.

In fact, I also wish I could have a cheat like Wang Lie, where I would get one year younger every time I update a certain number of chapters...

Then I can write about myself as a baby!

Unfortunately, fantasy is fantasy and reality is reality, and there are insurmountable obstacles between the two sides.

Because it is impossible to return to youth, the present moment is particularly precious.

Let’s talk about this book.

The earliest impulse for the book "Reversal" came from the 2022 World Cup - I don't shy away from the fact that the inspiration for this book came from Ronaldo's predicament - you can look at the title of the sixth chapter of this book, and then go to the seventh volume of "Fox in the Penalty Zone" to look at the name of the single chapter I wrote for Ronaldo's elimination during the 22 World Cup, and you should be able to understand.

But just because the prototype is Cristiano Ronaldo, it doesn’t mean that I will write everything based on Cristiano Ronaldo.

Because I am not simply writing about Cristiano Ronaldo, otherwise I would just write about a Chinese person possessing Cristiano Ronaldo, just like the soul-swapping commercial he shot for Nike.

I didn't do that because I'm not just writing about Ronaldo.

I just wanted to write about an indomitable soul, a paranoid monster, a professional player who shouldn't exist - I took characteristics from many people and combined them into Wang Lie.

C Ronaldo is the prototype, but he is not Wang Lie.

Wang Lie certainly has many of Ronaldo's traits, but he is not Ronaldo either.

It can be said that Wang Lie is not a specific person, but a collection of one or several spirits.

What is a “prototype”?
Every character in every novel I write has its own prototype. After all, I can't imagine characters and stories out of thin air.

When I first started writing "Do You Care That I Play Football?", the character prototypes were all myself and people around me. They even had the same names, but they were just prototypes and were not exactly the same as the characters in my book.

This is why I said in the preface that I hope you won’t be obsessed with finding the corresponding characters in real football. You just need to look at the characters I wrote. Otherwise, it will be very disconnected - what the prototype is like in reality does not mean that the characters I write should be like. What does the real-life players have to do with the characters I wrote?

Otherwise, why would I write fictional stories? Why not just write about real football?

As a person who is bad at naming, I am spending so much effort to think of names for clubs and players. Am I just wasting my time?
Some people asked me why I didn’t continue the world view setting of "Fox in the Penalty Zone" and use the names of those clubs.

Of course, this proposal is reasonable and very feasible.

But I am worried that the world of "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" will be too popular. I use my own fictional world as a prototype, and I am afraid that people will always associate it with the stories and characters in the previous book...

That's why I took the trouble to rename all the titles in this book, just to make everyone focus only on Wang Lie's story when reading it.

Whether in "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" or "Reversal", I have made it very clear, because reality cannot accommodate my ambitions and cannot fully contain what I want to say.

Readers don't have to be obsessed with what real people look like. If you are so obsessed with real people, why don't you just watch real football games?
Or you can read those online articles about real football, but you have to read my story which is obviously fictional?
If you don't know how to substitute at first, you can find some plausible prototypes for comparison.

But it is just to make it easier for yourself to understand the story. For example, if you don't know which team Tyne is, and you can't imagine what it will be like when Tyne and Sofia United confront each other, you can simply and crudely use the real Premier League teams to fit it.

no problem.

There is really no need to project your likes and dislikes about real football onto the characters and stories in the novel.

You use Ronaldo's deeds to criticize the Wang Lie I wrote about, saying that this is wrong and that is wrong... Please, I wrote about Wang Lie, whose last name is Wang, whose first name is Lie, and who is Chinese. Not Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, a Portuguese.

If you really think that Wang Lie reminds you of that seemingly similar prototype and makes you feel physically nauseous, just don't watch it.

It's just a YY novel, there's no need to torture yourself like this.

Reality is already chaotic and tiring enough. Can't we just relax a little in the world of YY novels?

※※※

Back to the story itself.

The story of "Reversal" is just like its name, everyone knows what it is about at a glance.

That’s why I said that the beginning is already the most painful part of the whole book.

Because what’s coming next is a reversal!

This may be the most enjoyable novel I have ever written, and it is enjoyable in a way that is real and believable.

The style pursuit is the same as that of Fox in the Forbidden Zone, creating a world and characters that everyone feels are real and credible, and then weaving them together into a good show.

The personality I designed for Wang Lie also meant that he would not be easily abused...

Because he is not like the protagonists of my other novels, who were just a nobody at the beginning.

At the beginning of the story, Wang Lie was already a superstar. Wherever he went, he was the focus of the spotlight. So why should he still care about what others think?
For example, when I first wrote about Wang Lie's first day at Tain, I wrote it very slowly. According to my previous practice, I wrote about how he got to know and greeted his new teammates under the captain's introduction or the coach's arrangement...

But as I wrote, I kept feeling awkward and uncomfortable and couldn't continue.

Later I realized that I had inadvertently thought of Wang Lie as a rookie.

Who is he? What is his identity?
Why would he pretend to be nice to his new teammates?

Then I wrote that chapter into what you see now.

Wang Lie is such a person:

What do you think of me? That's your business. It's none of my business. I only do things according to my own ideas. You have to agree with me even if you disagree with me. You have to accept me even if you don't agree with me. Who says I am better than you?

Because of this, people who like him will like him very much, and people who hate him will hate him very much, there is almost no middle ground.

It is also because of this that he suffered such treatment at the end of his career.

Character determines destiny.

To put it bluntly, he asked for it.

But I think it is precisely this kind of personality that makes this character very interesting and particularly suitable to be the protagonist of an online novel.

"Fox in the Forbidden Zone" gradually made me firm up my idea - not to write characters that everyone likes, but to write vivid characters.

Wang Lie is the product of my thinking.

As the protagonist, he is definitely not liked by everyone. There will definitely be people who hate him and think that he sometimes does things wrong - I have also expressed this view through other people's mouths in my book.

But he is alive, he is real, and he is what I want to write about.

I can’t help but think:

What will happen if we put such a contradictory yet real person into a certain story environment? How will he respond?

As I thought about it, I got inspiration and impulse.

Instead of being afraid of writing about the bad side of the protagonist and making readers hate him, you will be hesitant and hesitant when writing.

Is there a novel protagonist who is perfect, absolutely popular with readers, and has good performance?

Of course there is, but my ability is limited and I really can’t write it down.

So I choose to write about imperfect protagonists, or even tainted protagonists.

Just because I choose Wang Lie as the protagonist doesn't mean I necessarily approve of everything he does.

I will just show you both the good and the bad things faithfully and without any disguise.

I'll leave it to you to judge for yourself.

Just like the protagonists of the previous book, Hu Lai, Li Qingqing, and the supporting characters Luo Kai, Hu Lixin, Li Ziqiang, Xie Lan... and so on, there is no character that no one hates 100%.

Even for Li Qingqing, I specifically wrote about her height and weight. I remember that after I wrote it, many people said that Li Qingqing was a "tank" and they couldn't love her.

But I can’t possibly write that the top player in the women’s football team is white, thin and young, right?
So I said that friends who have read "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" should have a tacit understanding and can guess the style of this book to some extent.

The stories are different, but the style remains the same.

Having said so much, on the one hand, I have indeed made clear what I wanted to say during the entire public version. On the other hand, I also hope to clear up your doubts and guide you to better enter Wang Lie's world.

I hope that when this story comes to an end, it will receive the same evaluation as "Fox in the Forbidden Zone" - it is like a real parallel world. Although the novel has ended, everyone in that world is still living there vividly and freely.

Limited by this story structure, this book should not be too long, at least it will definitely not be as long as "Fox in the Forbidden Zone".

The total word count of this book should not exceed three million words, and the serialization time will certainly not be dragged out to three years and seven months.

Finally, thank you all for your support. Let us enter Wang Lie’s world together like time travelers and start a new journey!

Finally, the new book is on the shelves. Subscription results are very important. Please subscribe and give me monthly votes!
