Chapter 35 Who am I?
"who am I?"

A confused voice muttered to itself.

"I, I remember now. I am the Dragon Lord."

I was once a carp living in a mountain stream pool.

The water in the lake is clear, natural enemies are scarce, and food is plentiful.

I know no worries and have no concerns.

But... one day, something strange happened.

Suddenly, many "heavy objects" fell from the sky, breaking the tranquility of the pond.

I dodged in panic, but a dark red smudge dyed the water and a fishy smell wafted around, arousing my...appetite.

The dark red liquid entered the mouth, and the 'heavy object' of flesh and skin fell into the stomach.

I have never eaten such delicious food.

It turns out that there are not many good days like this when you can eat until your belly is full.

My confused mind gradually became clearer.

I gradually realized what these so-called "heavy objects" were.
It's people!

They are people with smooth scalps!

There were more and more people floating on the water, and the water was becoming more and more turbid.
"No, no, I am a Buddha who breaks his precepts!"

The dazed voice seemed to be frightened and quickly opened its mouth to object.

The lake water and the corpse all disappeared!
In horror, I suddenly opened my eyes.

The lights in front of him were burning and flickering, and the shadows they outlined were as eerie as the forest of corpses in the pond.

I looked at the tall figure wearing a monk's robe and holding a ruler, walking back and forth not far away.

I couldn't help but retract my feet in fear, straighten my back, and sit more upright.

Fortunately, the monks in charge of discipline didn’t notice that I fell asleep during meditation.

I almost broke my vow...

The dull pain from the whip marks on my shoulders continued to stimulate my exhausted spirit.

It was not until the incense stick on the stove had burned out and I heard the sound of the ruler hitting the ground that I slowly stood up with the other novice monks.

After sitting in meditation, it is customary to fetch water.

I went down the mountain with a group of novice monks to fetch water, trip after trip, it was boring and tedious.

It would be great if someone could do it for me.
Oh, by the way! I heard that three more monks came to the temple recently.

Maybe, soon I won’t have to carry water anymore.

I don't know how many hours passed, I was exhausted and hadn't eaten a single grain of rice.

Hunger made my stomach rumble unconsciously, which made my face turn pale.

I don't know when the vinaya monk was standing behind me.

He ignored my struggles and picked me up like a chick.

I looked at him in horror and he slowly lifted me to the edge of the well.

The monk had a compassionate face and a gentle voice, but I couldn't feel any warmth from him.

"My stomach is uncomfortable and I have broken the precepts of purity. It is not your fault."

"However, breaking the rules and being punished are inevitable..."

He pushed my head hard into the water.
Suffocation, fear, and pain make me live a life worse than death.
In the intense pain, consciousness gradually blurred.

Who am I? Who am I?
No! No! No!
I am Chen Xi!

Chen Xi woke up in shock, and the colors in front of his eyes continued to spread.

Immediately afterwards, a strong feeling of suffocation and nausea surged into his heart.

He coughed a piece of wet human skin out of his throat and it fell to the ground with a plop.

"Quack! Master Buddha, are you awake?"

The Toad Spirit's voice, full of surprise, came at this moment.

The sound of its jumping, along with the blood flowing in its body and the frequency of its heartbeat, were all taken in by Chen Hui's ears.

However, the scene that Chen Xi saw was still a patch of colorful colors.

The surrounding environment is a gradient of black, gray and white, and the one with a little colorful light is the jumping toad spirit.

Fortunately, after a moment, the colorful scene gradually faded, and everything returned to its original dim light.

Chen Xi looked around and found himself lying in a small cave.

There were some grass leaves under his body. The toad spirit's mouth was bulging as it chewed something.

"Master Buddha, how do you feel?"

"When you fell, you were covered in blood. I was really scared!"

Upon hearing this, Chen Xi said in a slightly hoarse voice: "Where is this?"

The toad spirit quickly came to Chen Xi with a bowl of water and spoke enthusiastically.

"I am afraid of those demons, which may be bad for you, Master Buddha."

"So I took you to find this cave near Yingchoujian."

"Afterwards, I discovered that your injuries gradually healed on their own."

"So I went out to pick up some food and get some water."

"Master Buddha, why don't you eat and drink something first to replenish your body?"

Chen Xi's face was pale and he slowly stood up.

However, such a simple action caused him to gasp in pain.

My whole body aches.

"How long have I slept?"

Chen Xi’s head also hurt badly, and his thoughts were even a little stiff.

While handing over the bowl, the toad spirit took out a piece of pink meat with a faint golden glow from somewhere.

It replied somewhat uncertainly: "Gua, Master Buddha, you have been sleeping for about, three days?"

Chen Xi frowned and looked at the bowl and piece of meat in the toad spirit's hand.

In an instant, a strong sense of fear and appetite emerged at the same time!
This made him subconsciously drop the bowl and meat!

The toad spirit was shocked by the sudden change.

It thought it was Chen Xi, who disliked the water and meat because they were not clean, so it quickly started to explain.

"Master Buddha, you are injured, please don't get angry."

"This water is small, it comes from Yingchou Stream."

"And this piece of meat is small, specially cut off from a red dragon that fell from the sky."

"Dragon meat is very nutritious. It will be good for your injuries. It's not dirty."

The toad spirit felt a little aggrieved and was afraid that Chen Xi would misunderstand him.

However, at this moment, Chen Xi could no longer hear anything the Toad Spirit said.

"No water! No water!"

"Meat...I'm hungry! Eat meat!"

The voices of the Buddha who broke the precepts and the Dragon King resounded in Chen Xi's mind at the same time.

The ghost lingered, recurring over and over again, stirring his mind and stinging his spirit!

The lotus of flesh and blood between his eyebrows and the precious flesh in his belly were still on his body!

Even compared to before, there are some inexplicable changes.
"Ahhhh!!!"

Chen Xi covered his head with his hands, suffering from a splitting headache.

The oppressive feeling unique to a great demon spread from his body.

Under this oppressive feeling, the Toad Spirit trembled and was unable to move.

Chen Xi's expression changed, sometimes compassionate, sometimes ferocious.

"I am you, and you are me. Don't you understand, Buddhist?"

"Don't trust that thief monk. You are the son of a dragon. You should transform into a dragon and ascend to heaven!"

The voices of the Buddha who broke his precepts and the Dragon King gradually became clearer.

"Get out, get out, get out of here!"

The mental pain and torture made Chen Xi collapse and scream.

His face became extremely hideous, like a demon or a devil.

Then, he suddenly slammed into the rock wall in the cave as if he had gone crazy!

"Boom!!!"
