At Scarlett's questioning, Benji pointed the camera at Lin Bei and Constantine.

After looking her up and down, Benji looked at Scarlett and shrugged, saying, "One more or one less won't make a difference. Since they've approached us, let's take them along. We don't know if they're reliable, but they seem alright."

Scarlett clearly supported Benji's words, her smiling gaze sweeping back and forth between Lin Bei and Constantine: "Although I don't know which Marine Corps would accept people with your physique, I agree to let you join us because you're both good-looking."

At this point, Scarlett clapped her hands and pointed to the bar entrance, saying, "Alright, alright, let's not waste time here. We still need to go inside to find our guide. Would you two like to come along?"

Lin Bei knew about the guide Scarlett mentioned.

In the original storyline, Scarlett's side consisted of three people, while the guide's side consisted of three people. The so-called guide was actually a homeless man who often sneaked into the catacombs to cause trouble. However, these three people often led people in to explore, and they had become somewhat famous in this area.

Basically, anyone who wants to explore the depths of underground tombs will come to them.

However, Scarlett and her friends wanted to go deeper into the area.

I don't know if the guide will agree.

Lin Bei put one hand in his pocket and nodded happily: "Since we're a team, of course we should act together."

Scarlett smiled and walked into the bar first.

Lin Bei and the others quickly followed, and after passing through the crowded people and entering the bar, Scarlett struggled to stand on tiptoe to find her target.

Lin Bei patted her shoulder and pointed in a direction: "Go take a look over there."

Lin Bei's voice was calm, but it carried a convincing power in Scarlett's ears.

Scarlett looked over and indeed saw a group of somewhat different people in the corner.

As Scarlett and her group approached, Scarlett immediately spotted the man surrounded in the very center.

She quickly stepped forward to chat, and after confirming that the other person was indeed her guide, she happily said, "Please take us down to the tomb. I'll pay whatever it takes."

Upon hearing that it was going to a tomb again, the guide, Papilon, waved his hand impatiently: "We're not going. We won't be taking anyone down there again. Get out of here."

Scarlett was taken aback and stood there stunned when she was rejected for something she thought she would definitely get.

Lin Bei gently nudged Scarlett, who snapped out of her daze and, still unwilling to give up, continued to ask, "Why? There has to be a reason. It can't be that you just didn't want to take us down, right?"

Beside Papillon, the female guide Sosi, with a cigarette dangling from her lips, waved her hand and said, "You guys take yourselves too seriously. There was a bit of trouble down there the other day, so we're not going."

Seeing their resolute attitude, Scarlett still wanted to try.

Lin Bei raised his hand to stop her, and smiled faintly: "I've received news that there are a lot of gold and silver treasures in the underground tomb that haven't been unearthed yet. You search for treasure every time you go down, but you haven't found any so far. Given your greed, you would never give up so easily. Has something happened? For example... has someone in your guide team gone missing in the underground tomb?"

A stone stirred up a thousand waves.

Lin Bei's words caused the expressions of the people huddled in the corner to change drastically.

One of the guides, a thin man named Zod, exclaimed instinctively, "Damn it, how did you know someone was missing...?"

Before he could finish speaking, Papillon slapped Zod across the mouth, stopping him from saying anything.

Papillon looked at Lin Bei with a serious expression: "What do you mean?"

Lin Bei shrugged: "I didn't mean anything by it, I just wanted you to lead the team to the underground tomb with us."

Lin Bei paused, then lowered his voice: "I can only tell you that it's true there's treasure down there, and this time we're going to go very deep, to places that even the authorities haven't been to."

Upon hearing this, Papillon, Sosi, and Zod's expressions became somewhat strange.

They exchanged a glance and both saw greed in each other's eyes.

Whether this guy is telling the truth or not, aren't they just a group of people who chase after treasure?

Papillon looked at Scarlett again, clearly recognizing her as the one in charge.

He raised his hand to Scarlett: "Okay, we can take you down, but you'll have to pay this amount, and we'll take the lion's share after we find the treasure."

Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief, gave Lin Bei a grateful look, and then nodded without hesitation.

Scarlett didn't care about the treasure; she only cared about her research and the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

If they do find the treasure, she can give her share to Benji, Linbe, Constantine, and the remaining companion, George.

After reaching an agreement, the group agreed to meet at the city's central garden the following evening. They exchanged contact information, and then Scarlett led Lin Bei and the others away from the bar.

Scarlett was pleased that everything went smoothly. In front of Lin Bei and Constantine, she made a phone call to George to confirm the location and time for going down to the catacombs tomorrow.

Constantine lit a cigarette against the wind: "Anyone else want to come along? How many people are there in total? You're not going to leave them all to me to protect, are you? Let me make it clear, I'm not going to miss Baal's spectacular death because of them."

Lin Bei shrugged: "Everyone has their own fate. Don't worry, if these people die, that's their fate."

Constantine nodded with a grin and said nothing more.

After Scarlett finished her phone call and was going to meet George, Lin Bei and Constantine decided not to go with her. They agreed to meet the next day and then returned to the hotel.

The following evening, Lin Bei and Constantine arrived at the meeting place and found that Papillon, Sosi, and Zod were already there.

The three of them were quite dedicated; they prepared their equipment for going down early and sat down to chat while waiting for Scarlett and the others.

Lin Bei and Constantine went over to greet them, and Constantine chatted with them, only then learning why they had refused to go down into the tomb.

They were actually a four-person guide team, and also self-proclaimed treasure hunters. However, three months ago, when they went down into the catacombs, their partner Lato went missing.

Because Lato entered a passage that was absolutely forbidden to enter.

There are many paths leading to the underground, but everyone who goes down that one path disappears.

Lato had already explored every path in the catacombs, but still hadn't found the treasure.

Therefore, Lato believed that the treasure was hidden in this forbidden road.

Ignoring his companions' attempts to stop him, Lato entered the forbidden path and never returned.

Lin Bei already knew about these things and stood aside without making any comments.

Constantine, however, offered a few words of comfort, suggesting that they might be able to find Lato.

Of course, what Constantine didn't say was that if they could actually find it, Lato would either be a skeleton or a lackey of Baal, and neither would have a good ending.

When Constantine returned to Lin Bei's side, Scarlett, Benji, and George arrived late.

Constantine, puffing on his cigarette, tilted his head and muttered, "Looks like that forbidden path leads to Baal's lair." Lin Bei rolled his eyes. "Do you need to tell me? Since I brought you here, it means I already knew the inside story. You're just bored. Why aren't you this gossipy usually?"

Constantine gave Lin Bei the middle finger and turned to find Scarlett.

After a brief exchange, Scarlett, beaming with confidence, smiled at everyone and said, "Alright, let's go! I'm sure we'll find something today!"

Benji diligently carried the camera, and from this moment on, everyone's words and actions would be recorded by the camera.

Led by Papillon, the group, carrying simple bags, walked deeper into Central Park.

The deeper the group ventured into the park, the denser the surrounding forest became.

Until they came to a road that ran through the park and appeared in the forest, Papillon pointed to the dense bushes under the road: "See that? Go in from there."

Scarlett and her two companions were already mentally prepared for this.

After all, the area they wanted to enter was blocked off by the authorities, and they couldn't get in through the visitor access route.

As Papillon led the group toward the dense bushes, he explained in a low voice, "There's a bridge arch behind the bushes, and there's a gap you can squeeze through, but you have to be quick, as there are often police patrols there."

Papillon's words immediately made Scarlett and the others tense.

Even though they were about to enter an illegal place, they couldn't help but feel afraid when they faced the police.

In contrast, Lin Bei and Constantine were remarkably calm, simply lagging behind the group. Compared to the few people sneaking around in front, the two seemed to be on a picnic.

Once they had passed through the bushes, Papillon raised his hand to signal everyone to stop.

Scarlett and George were extremely nervous, but they couldn't help but peek ahead out of curiosity.

As Papillon said, there was a wide culvert under the road ahead, and a stream that was ankle-deep flowed under the culvert.

Six policemen stood by the stream.

Papillon's expression turned grim: "This is bad. Why are there so many police officers today? Could it be that someone else has gone missing after going in?"

Scarlett squeezed next to Papillon and asked nervously, "What do we do now? Can we still get in?"

Papillon hesitated for a moment: "I'm afraid that won't work, unless you want to be taken away by the police. There's no other way, we'll have to reschedule for another day..."

However, before Papillon could finish speaking, Lin Bei, at the back of the group, interrupted him with a light laugh: "There's no time like the present, let's do it today. As for those police... I'll take care of them."

With that, Lin Bei walked directly toward the culvert.

From the bushes, Sosi and Zod stared in shock at his retreating figure, calling out in low voices, "Hey, are you crazy? Come back! Do you want to go head-to-head with the police? You don't want to live anymore! If you get caught here, you'll be locked up for seven days!"

Papillon frowned, looking at Scarlett with displeasure: "What's wrong with this guy? Is he trying to get us all caught by the police? Is this the person you said would protect us?"

Before Scarlett could speak, Constantine lit a cigarette and chuckled, reassuring everyone, "Don't worry, just wait and see. We'll definitely get in today."

Papillon didn't quite believe Constantine's words, but if they went out rashly now, he would be discovered, and the police would definitely expel them from Central Park.

Just as everyone watched Lin Bei walk toward the police with some skepticism, the police naturally noticed Lin Bei and all gathered around him.

"Hey, please leave here immediately. This place has been sealed off, and no one is allowed to come near."

The police shouted at Lin Bei, and several of them even gripped their sidearms, meaning that if Lin Bei made any other unusual movements, they would not hesitate to point their guns at him.

Lin Bei stopped after entering the culvert. He watched as six policemen walked towards him, smiled faintly, and snapped his fingers.

He used the power he had taken from Freddy.

"Dream-making".

This is actually a branch that Lin Bei discovered when analyzing Freddy's ability to freely enter and control dreams.

Freddy himself couldn't use it.

But with Lin Bei's extraordinary abilities, it was naturally a piece of cake.

The principle of "dream-making" is very simple, but its actual operation requires a great deal of power.

That is, to make someone fall asleep instantly while they are still awake, without their knowledge.

Furthermore, humans who are "dreamed" will still act in their normal form and will not fall asleep immediately.

As soon as Lin Bei snapped his fingers, the six menacing policemen were instantly bewildered. After looking around, as if they hadn't seen Lin Bei, they turned back to patrol the stream.

Lin Bei nodded in satisfaction. The effect was quite good for the first time.

He turned and waved to the group hiding in the bushes, signaling them to come over.

Constantine raised an eyebrow and smiled lazily: "Alright, let's go."

He stepped out of the bushes first. The others were still somewhat hesitant, but Scarlett decided to trust the two so-called "bodyguards" and immediately followed him out.

After everyone stood in front of the police, Papillon was still a little uncomfortable. He frowned, rubbed his neck, and looked at the police from time to time: "What... what's wrong with them? Are they really okay? Your bodyguard, did he use hypnosis?"

Lin Bei was too lazy to explain too much to them, so he nodded perfunctorily and pointed to a narrow crevice in the corner of the stone wall: "If you say so, then so be it. Hurry up and go in."

The group exchanged glances, marveling at Lin Bei's abilities, and lined up to squeeze through the gap.

As soon as you squeeze through the crevice, a chilling coldness emanates from the depths of the cave.

George felt unwell. He shivered and frowned, saying, "Why is it so cold here? It wasn't this cold when we came in through the visitor corridor."

Papillon was used to it. He stretched his shoulders, lit a torch, and took the lead into the depths of the cave: "This is normal. There are so many people in the visitor passage. Even if there are vengeful spirits, they are driven away to other places by the human energy. There are hardly any people here. You might even find vengeful spirits watching you from the side."

George isn't very brave; he's only involved in this operation for Scarlett's sake.

George's research focused on languages, and he was invited by Scarlett to help translate ancient languages.

But he's really timid.

George's face darkened, and he moved closer to Benji: "Please watch your words. We're all about science now. Where would a vengeful spirit come from?"

Lin Bei chuckled: "Science can't explain many things. Although there are no vengeful spirits here, it doesn't mean there aren't any in the places we're going to next. Don't you think so, Papillon?"

Papillon hadn't expected Lin Bei to speak to him, and for some reason, the way Lin Bei said those words gave him the feeling that there really were vengeful spirits present. (End of Chapter)
