This meeting was different from all the previous ones.

Tang Xu was standing right in front of him, yet she looked at him with a completely unfamiliar, calm expression that was utterly devoid of any emotion.

Gao Yan froze instantly, staring at her without uttering a sound.

Tang Xu seemed somewhat puzzled by his reaction, but she didn't express it. Instead, she picked up a gold lighter and asked the same question again: "Excuse me, is this the lighter you lost? I found it nearby."

Gao Yan finally came to his senses, shook his head stiffly, and spoke in a slightly hoarse voice: "No, it's not mine."

"Okay." Tang Xu nodded and said, "Then I'll hand it over to the staff."

After saying that, Tang Xu turned and left.

But Gao Yan's gaze remained fixed on her face, which was probably too strange for two people meeting for the first time. So even though Tang Xu had already turned around, she turned back to look at him again, slightly puzzled, and asked, "Is there anything else?"

Gao Yan was taken aback at first, then suddenly came to his senses, quickly lowered his eyes, and shook his head.

It wasn't until she had walked several steps away that Gao Yan finally looked up again and gazed at her back.

Tang Xu walked slowly away, gradually moving further away without stopping, while Gao Yan's mind was filled with only her last words, "Goodbye."

It seemed like a preordained arrangement.

Is it because we didn't find a chance to say goodbye before that this "goodbye" feels so precious?

While Gao Yan was still in a daze, Tang Xu had already turned the corner and completely disappeared from his sight.

As she passed a trash can, Tang Xu lightly tossed the lighter into the bin. A short while later, Tang Xu re-entered the venue and returned to Jiang Beiheng's side.

Jiang Beiheng was chatting with his old friend when he turned around and saw Tang Xu return. He quickly asked, "Are you bored? Do you want to leave early?"

Tang Xu rested her chin on her hand and looked at him, asking, "Didn't you come here with something very important? Can you leave now?"

Jiang Beiheng nodded slightly and said, "We've talked enough about what we needed to talk about, and there's no reason for us to stay. If you want to leave, then let's go."

Tang Xu slowly exhaled, looking as if she had breathed a sigh of relief. "Then let's go."

Seeing her reaction, Jiang Beiheng shook his head and sighed slightly. He then quickly stood up, said goodbye to a few friends, and turned to look at Tang Xu.

Tang Xu immediately stood up and walked to his side without any hesitation, accompanying him out of the venue with light steps.

As soon as they stepped out the door and got into the car, Jiang Beiheng saw Tang Xu immediately take off her high heels and let out a long sigh of relief. He smiled gently and said, "It's my fault. I knew you didn't like these kinds of occasions. I shouldn't have forced you to come with me."

"That's fine," Tang Xu said. "At least it's confirmed that I really don't like these kinds of occasions. If you ask me to come with you again next time, I'd rather die than come."

"Okay, from now on, I won't call you for any more of these kinds of arduous tasks." Jiang Beiheng finished speaking, paused, and then looked at her again, asking, "So, what are your plans for the future?"

Tang Xu leaned back in her seat, staring blankly at the night outside the window for a while before slowly saying, "I don't have any plans. I just want to leave here temporarily and go somewhere where no one is around to calm down."

Jiang Beiheng frowned slightly upon hearing this, "A place where there are no people?"

Tang Xu heard the worry in his tone, laughed, and added, "There's nowhere I know anyone. I heard from Lu Xingyan that he opened a guesthouse in a mountain in Rong City. Anyway, I have nowhere else to go, so I might as well go and check it out. If I stay comfortably, I might not come back, which would be great... Anyway, there's nothing I can't let go of."
