Chapter 59: The Cart Puller

Not long after, Jiang Cheng returned to the yard with the cart-pulling master.

"Sister Zhou, your man is here, you go ahead and do your work, we'll talk next time."

"Yes, we'll talk next time. You just got here, I'll take you out for a walk when I have time."

As soon as Jiang Cheng appeared, the people who were talking to Zhou Lingying immediately dispersed.

"Jiang Cheng, you bought so many things at once."

"A rice jar, a flour jar, and if the weather gets hotter, the bamboo bed can also be used. The rest are all needed." Jiang Cheng said, and then continued to the master who was pulling the cart beside him: "Master, please help me move it into this room."

"Okay, I'll move it for you right away." The cart master agreed.

The masters who pull the flatbed trucks are different from the drivers. They don't earn these two cents easily because they are responsible for loading and unloading the goods. Otherwise, if they only earn two cents for a trip of ten minutes, it would be too easy to make money.

Two rice jars were moved into the room first. The rice jars were not heavy, weighing more than 30 kilograms each. There were two jars, one for rice and one for flour.

The bamboo bed looks big, but it is not heavy. So even though there is a lot of cargo on the truck, it was unloaded in a short time. Then the master agreed to help Jiang Cheng unload the coal from the truck, and he went there honestly.

"Lingying, go cut a watermelon. Wait for the deliveryman to help us move the coal to the small kitchen. Treat him to a slice of watermelon. It's almost time. Let's prepare lunch. Sister Zhu from the backyard may bring the carpenter over for lunch at noon. Let's talk about making furniture."

Jiang Cheng said, there are two bamboo beds here, one can be used as a temporary table, but it is a little short. But inviting a carpenter to come here is just to solve the problem of no table and stool, and it is just a simple meal, so there is nothing to be particular about.

Make some scrambled eggs with tomatoes, stir-fried cabbage, and some smashed cucumbers. Jiang Cheng will go get some fish. A few simple dishes plus rice will do, and it's even pretty good. Some leaders usually only have some vegetarian dishes at home.

Zhou Lingying followed the instructions and went to cut watermelons. Jiang Cheng took the cart driver to unload the coal. When the coal was loaded onto the cart, Jiang Cheng gave the driver 20 cents as a freight. The cart driver smiled as soon as he received the money.

Today Jiang Cheng gave several cigarettes to the cart driver, and he only smoked one, putting the others away. He was reluctant to finish a cigarette that cost only a few cents.

People like the cart driver usually roll their own cigarettes at home, and when they buy cigarettes outside, they buy economy brand cigarettes at eight cents a pack.

After the coal was loaded, Jiang Cheng did not go back to the yard with the cart driver. He had to go to the market to buy some vegetables. Although there were cucumbers and tomatoes in the space, he bought them in Yancheng. On the way, chewing a cucumber was actually more exciting than eating fruit.

The cart driver was very honest. He unloaded the coal immediately when he arrived at the yard. After finishing the work, he could go back to eat.

"Master, go to the sink to wash your hands and have a slice of watermelon before you go." Zhou Lingying saw the cart driver finished unloading the coal and immediately invited him to her sink. Without the faucet key, the faucet could not be turned.

"Oh~, thank you." The cart driver replied. In fact, he had received his wages and smoked his employer's cigarettes. The watermelon should not be eaten, but sometimes men are not spineless, but taking a piece of watermelon home can bring a lot of laughter to the family.

The cart driver washed his hands and saw his employer's beautiful wife handing him a large piece of watermelon. He thanked her again and left with the watermelon in one hand and the cart in the other.

The cart driver left. Zhou Lingying didn't see Jiang Cheng and guessed that he must have gone to buy vegetables, so she quickly packed up and cooked.

Jiang Cheng really went to the vegetable market. Even though he had tomatoes and cucumbers in his space, he still bought a lot of them. He also bought two bitter melons, some eggplants, and two cabbages.

What surprised Jiang Cheng was that lotus roots were sold in the market. He liked to eat fried lotus roots, so he bought some. In fact, Jiang Cheng wanted to buy some vegetables, but because it was almost noon, some leafy vegetables were left over by others, so he didn't want to buy them, such as green vegetables and water spinach. On the way home, Jiang Cheng took out a large black carp from the space. When he got home, Jiang Cheng put the net bag containing vegetables in the corner of the door. Seeing the cut watermelon on the bamboo bed, he took a piece and took a big bite.

He walked out of the side room while eating watermelon, and spat out the watermelon seeds in his mouth. There were many children in the yard, and they were greedy when they saw Jiang Cheng eating watermelon.

Watermelons these days have a lot of seeds, and they are not as sweet as the ones in later generations. But the watermelons are fresh and refreshing. I don’t know if it’s an illusion or something else. Logically, whether it’s the watermelons of today or in later generations, watermelons should taste like watermelons, but Jiang Cheng feels that the watermelons of this era taste stronger.

Jiang Cheng was not generous enough to give watermelons to the children in the yard. He also bought these watermelons. Although he made money easily, driving was indeed hard work. Even if he drove an empty car, it was more tiring than driving a Didi in the future.

The most important thing is that the children Jiang Cheng saw in the yard were not good-looking. If there was a girl who looked like the porcelain dolls in later generations, he would be willing to give her a piece of watermelon to tease her.

There is no difference between children in cities today and those in the countryside in the future. It seems that this is a bit of an exaggeration. In the future, people in rural areas will not live badly either. The rich will be richer than those in cities, and their children will be well-raised.

Jiang Cheng compared the children of this era with the rural children of later generations. The rural people of later generations would definitely not accept it.

Anyway, there are no kids that Jiang Cheng likes to tease and play with. Nowadays, everyone wants to eat watermelon, and he can't afford to give them away.

Jiang Cheng sat at the door of the main room, fanning himself with a palm leaf fan while eating watermelon. Zhou Lingying was busy running back and forth between the kitchen and the side room, preparing meals. Jiang Cheng felt that he could not help. The housework was like cheating. A man either did not do it, or did it once and then he would do it many times in the future.

Soon, it was time for the workers to get off work. Jiang Cheng was sitting at the door, and many people who were leaving get off work in the yard came up to say hello when they saw him.

In the past, we had no topic to talk about, and we didn't know what to say after greeting each other. Today, Jiang Cheng brought his wife to the yard, and everyone came up to praise him, saying that Master Jiang's wife was really pretty.

In this era, it is okay for a neighbor to praise your wife for being pretty, even if it is a male neighbor. But in the future, you have to be more careful, because the environment in the future is too annoying.

But in this era, you don't even dare to say a word. If anyone says something obscene about Zhou Lingying, Jiang Cheng can beat him up and send him to the hospital. And even if the police come, at most they will teach Jiang Cheng a lesson, telling him to be gentle, this is wrong. And then~~ that's it.

Zhang Yang, the neighbor across the street, had also gotten off work. When he saw Jiang Cheng, he immediately came over to say hello.

The kelp that Jiang Cheng asked Zhang Yang to help process was only about 30 kilograms. The kelp was brought to Zhu Lan's place, and that night Zhang Yang went to get his own kilogram of kelp. Zhu Lan told Zhang Yang that she would do a favor by giving him five kilograms of kelp.

So Zhang Yang could only process less than 30 kilograms of dried kelp. Yesterday, he talked to a few good colleagues in his own workshop in the factory. His neighbor is a truck driver and he has a good relationship with him. He got some dried kelp. He exchanged one kilogram of rice for 60 cents, but there was not much kelp, so he asked them if they wanted to exchange.

Yesterday morning, before Zhang Yang told anyone outside his workshop, he was called in by his supervisor, who praised his active work and asked him if he could get some kelp.

Anyway, yesterday at noon, the leaders of the factory took all the kelp away, and they didn't exchange it for rice. They gave it to Zhang Yang at the market price of rice plus food coupons, and asked Zhang Yang to exchange the rice for Jiang Cheng. Zhang Yang brought the kelp to the factory when he went to work at noon.

There will be a few transitional chapters recently, which are all trivial matters. But I have to write them, otherwise things will not go smoothly later.

After dealing with some trivial matters, the car will be driven out again and there will be new plots.

The new book list will be available for four days. I hope my brothers will continue to support me. If you have tickets, please remember to give them. I am very grateful to those brothers who help me correct typos. I will read the comments and then correct them.
