She is in the fog
Chapter 66 Protecting Wife
Wen Wan went to Jiang Province to compete.
After the evening self-study, He Xi hadn't finished her work yet, so she wanted Ming Mei to wait for her so that she could accompany her home.
Unexpectedly, before He Xi could speak, Mingmei immediately packed her schoolbag and hurried out of the classroom.
He Xi had no choice but to put down the things in his hands, without even having time to put on his schoolbag, and rushed out in a hurry to catch up with Mingmei's footsteps.
"Mingmei, why don't you wait for me?"
Mingmei held onto the straps of her schoolbag with both hands, staring at the road ahead, and said without looking away, "Wanwan isn't here, so you don't have to send her off specially."
"It is precisely because she is not here that I should send you home."
"It's really not necessary."
Mingmei walked faster. When she noticed He Xi was still behind her, she stopped, turned around, and frowned, "You really don't have to take me home anymore."
He Xi walked forward and walked side by side with him, "You forgot, I live in Fangcao Garden, we go the same way."
Mingmei thought about it and it seemed to be true. She couldn't help feeling guilty. She bit her lip and continued walking forward in silence.
After arriving at Fangcao Garden, He Xi waved to Mingmei and said, "I'm here, please be careful."
"Yeah." Mingmei continued walking quickly.
However, when the bright figure disappeared around the corner, He Xi looked around and followed quietly.
She always kept a suitable distance from Mingmei, neither too far nor too close. She could always pay attention to Mingmei's situation without being discovered by her.
What a joke. In her past life, she had followed so many suspects and had never lost them or been discovered. ——But it seemed strange to use it here, after all, Mingmei was not a suspect.
Only after seeing Mingmei safely enter the community and the lights on the 3th floor of Building 15 turned on did He Xi walk back with peace of mind.
There has been a Mayan prophecy circulating on the Internet: December 2012, 12 is the end of the world, the earth will be destroyed on this day, and human civilization will no longer exist.
As the predicted time drew closer, the classmates in the class became very excited.
Since seats had to be changed every week, on Monday, four days before the "end of the world", Mingmei returned to the beginning and sat back in the first row, while He Xi returned to the last row.
He Xi felt a little disappointed. She clearly felt that Mingmei had become more distant from her without Wenwan. Unfortunately, God was not on her side. Even in this situation, why didn't he let her get closer to Mingmei?
What on earth was going on? He Xi really couldn't figure it out.
That night, Mingmei still stubbornly refused He Xi's request to take her home.
He Xi stopped at the Fangcao Garden, while Mingmei continued walking forward, and set out on the journey home alone with her head down.
The street lights had been repaired long ago, but without the laughter of two people around her, she felt a little desolate. Mingmei zipped up her school uniform jacket to the top and wrapped herself tighter.
Looking up, she saw a few men walking towards her not far away. They were dressed like bad youths, and each of them was holding a beer bottle in his hand. Mingmei was a little scared, and subconsciously walked to the side and stopped under a street light. She wanted to wait until they left before saying anything, as she didn't want to have any direct contact with them.
Unexpectedly, these people walked straight to Mingmei and surrounded her.
"Sister Ming, why are you finishing school so late?"
"I've been waiting for you for a long time. Why are you going home alone today?"
"Do you want your brother to give you a ride?"
"Would you like to have a drink with the brothers?"
Mingmei looked up and recognized them as Yin Haotian's brothers. She couldn't help but raise her eyebrows and asked, "Why are you here?"
The red-haired man looked around and said with a smile, "Mingmei, we've been following you for a long time. What's wrong? Why aren't those two followers beside you with you today?"
Mingmei said coldly: "What do you want to do?"
"What can we do?" The scarred man smiled, "You sent our brother Hao to jail, and he hasn't come out yet. How dare we do anything to you?" Mingmei said fiercely, "He deliberately hurt people, and he deserves to be in jail!"
"Going to jail is not a pity, but what is a pity is..." The red-haired man licked his lips and looked up and down at Mingmei with greedy eyes. The meaning was self-evident.
These people looked extremely ferocious, and their eyes looked as if they had been soaked in gutter oil for three days and three nights, greasy and disgusting.
Mingmei tried hard to make herself more confident, but she was physiologically afraid. Her body couldn't stop shaking, and tears immediately flowed down her face like beads that had broken off the string.
Unexpectedly, these people became even more excited and they smiled at each other.
"Sister Ming, don't be afraid. Brother is not a bad person."
"Why are you still crying?"
"Look at this pretty little face. No wonder Brother Hao likes it. Who wouldn't like it?"
"Come on, stop crying. It won't look good if your eyes are swollen. I'll wipe your tears away for you."
One of the men with a scar on his face stretched out his hand to touch her face, but just when he was halfway there, his arm was firmly grasped by another hand.
Mingmei turned her head away, and a clear and familiar face appeared in her hazy vision.
He Xi.
She seemed to have seen a savior, and her tears stopped instantly.
The scarred man couldn't help but curl his lips when he saw He Xi. "Hey, isn't this the follower that follows Ming Mei every day? I wanted to let you go, but you followed me?"
He Xi let go of her hand, pulled Ming Mei behind him, and whispered in her ear, "Leave this to me, run away and call the police."
Mingmei glanced at He Xi, a little hesitant.
He Xi tilted his head, put his mouth close to Mingmei's ear, and said softly, "Be good, believe me."
Seeing her firm and confident expression, Mingmei seemed to have taken a reassurance pill. She glanced at the people around her and said timidly, "Then you should be careful."
After saying that, she pulled the strap of her schoolbag and ran in the opposite direction.
When the group saw Mingmei running away, they wanted to chase after her. Unexpectedly, He Xi opened his arms and blocked their way. "Brothers, don't chase her yet. Come play with me."
"Get out of the way!" The scarred man had a fierce look in his eyes.
"What if I don't let you?"
"Your grandfather, if you don't accept my toast, you will be punished, right?"
The scarred man slammed the beer bottle in his hand to the ground, shaking the silent winter night, then raised his fist to hit He Xi in the face, but He Xi tilted his head and easily dodged his attack.
The scarred man was furious and waved his hand. The rest of the people, as if responding to a call, swarmed over and began to besiege He Xi.
In the chaos, someone hugged He Xi's upper body, and the scarred man punched her cheekbone hard. He Xi endured the pain and used the man's strength to kick the scarred man in the air, knocking him to the ground. Then she used her elbow to attack the person hugging her. The man was in so much pain that his mouth was drooling. He couldn't help but loosen his arms, bent over, covered his stomach and cried out in pain. Seeing this, He Xi kicked him in the crotch again, and this time the man lay on the ground and couldn't get up.
Soon, these people were all knocked down and lay on the ground, unable to get up, and they could hear each other screaming “ouch”.
He Xi wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, then gently touched the wound on his cheekbone, and gasped in pain.
Then a smile broke out on her face and she turned around and waved to Mingmei in the distance.
However, Mingmei suddenly shouted at her loudly: "He Xi! Watch out behind you!"
He Xi turned her head and with a "bang" a beer bottle hit her forehead hard. Suddenly, everything in front of her eyes went dark. She couldn't stand steadily and swayed a few times. She backed away and leaned against the wall, then slowly slid down and sat down.
Don't faint! Don't faint before the police arrive. He Xi kept repeating this thought in his mind.
Soon, I could vaguely hear the sirens of police cars and ambulances...
