Ink Courtyard.

Shuangxi leaned over and whispered in Zhang Lanyin's ear: "Madam, the eldest girl is here."

Zhang Lanyin stopped smiling and said calmly, "Please come in."

Zhao Shu walked in respectfully with lowered eyebrows, bowed politely, "Mother."

Zhang Lanyin didn't look at her, but lowered her head while drinking tea and said, "You and Xueying should go back to your grandmother's house in a couple of days. She misses you."

Zhao Shu said obediently: "It's mother."

As soon as she finished speaking, she recalled what happened in the street market that day. She pursed her lips and said, "Mother, it will take about half a month to go to my grandmother's house. Can you give us more guards so that we can protect my second sister?"

Zhang Lanyin glanced at her and it seemed that her mother agreed.

After getting the answer she wanted and knowing that her mother didn't want to say anything more to her, Zhao Shu tactfully withdrew. Before she even stepped out of the door, her mother spoke again, but with a hint of warning: "Remember to be careful with your words and actions when you are with your grandmother!"

Zhao Shu took back her foot that was about to step out of the door, turned around and said to Zhang Lanyin in a gentle voice, "It's mother."

Even if her mother didn't say it, she would never mention anything that would worry her grandmother.

Zhao Shu walked out of Zhang Lanyin's yard. When she thought that she would be able to see her grandmother in a short while, her originally heavy mood instantly became a little lighter.

Ah Ling saw the smile on her daughter's face from a distance. Did something good happen in the Madam's Courtyard? What good thing could happen?

Zhao Shu walked towards the yard and told Ah Ling behind her, "Take out the package today and bring in some clothes."

Ah Ling was stunned behind Zhao Shu. Was the girl kicked out of the house by the lady?
"Oh, by the way, bring the soft pillow that I filled with buckwheat husks and tea leaves a few days ago." Zhao Shu said gently.

Ah Ling asked carefully: "Girl, where are we going?"

Zhao Shu turned around and smiled: "Jiangnan, my grandmother's house."

When you have something to look forward to, time tends to pass faster.

On the day of leaving for her grandmother's house, Zhao Shu picked up the bag she had packed early in the morning and led A Ling to wait at the gate of the marquis' mansion.

Outside the mansion, Ah Ling looked at the two luggage carts in front of her with shock, then looked at their own two small bags and swallowed.

Zhao Shu stood in front of the carriage, waiting for Zhao Xueying.

Zhang Lanyin carefully warned Zhao Xueying, but seeing her impatient expression, she knew that she would not listen to what she said, so she poked her head with her handkerchief and said, "If I wasn't physically disabled, I would really be worried about you going alone."

Zhao Xueying took Zhang Lanyin's hand and acted coquettishly: "I have so many guards protecting me, so you can rest assured, mother." After saying that, she quickly let go of Zhang Lanyin's hand: "Mother, I'm leaving first." Then she ran towards the carriage.

Zhang Lanying glared at Zhao Xueying who was waving at her from the carriage. There was nothing she could do about this little ancestor. She glanced at Zhao Shu who was still under the carriage, paused slightly, and said, "Be careful on the road."

Zhao Shu bowed and said, "Yes, mother." Then she got on the carriage.

Zhang Lanyin watched the carriage go away before turning around and returning home.

In the carriage, Ah Ling laid out cakes and water. Zhao Shu's stomach was empty. She had left early and had no time for breakfast. Now seeing these cakes, she was already starving.

After traveling for three or four hours, the carriage stopped at a post station.

The servant was taking order from the waiter.

The maid reached out and helped Zhao Xueying get off the carriage. Zhao Xueying stood on tiptoe and held a handkerchief to her nose: "You want me to eat here?"

The maid was embarrassed: "Second Miss, this is the only post station nearby."

Zhao Xueying glared at the maid angrily, but didn't say anything else.

Zhao Shu found a clean seat and sat down. Zhao Xueying followed. She stood in front of the table, looking at the chairs and benches, frowning in disdain. She pointed at a servant and said, "Come here and clean this!"

Upon hearing this, the servant hurried over and wiped the tables and chairs repeatedly with his sleeves. When there was no dust left, he flattered Zhao Xueying to sit on the stool.

The maid behind Zhao Xueying gave a silver ingot to the servant boy as a reward. The servant boy took it with a smile and said, "Thank you, Second Miss." Then he walked happily to the table where the servants sat.

Zhao Shu looked at the silver ingot with envy. If she could get so much silver just by wiping the table, let her do it. She guaranteed that she could wipe it cleaner than that servant.

Several home-cooked dishes were served soon and everyone started eating. Zhao Shu saw Zhao Xueying put down her chopsticks and returned to the carriage after eating only a few bites. She thought the food at this post station was quite good. She didn't know how long it would take to get to the next post station from here, so in order to avoid getting hungry early, she finished all the food on the table.

Zhao Shu was really full after eating. Seeing that Zhao Xueying had no intention of staying here for long, she got into the carriage while burping.

Seeing that her daughter was so full that she didn't want to move, Ah Ling said, "Didn't we prepare some dry food for you? If you are hungry, you can temporarily fill your stomach. Why do you have to eat so much? What if your stomach is upset?"

Zhao Shu lay on her back: "I'm hungry."

Zhao Shu adjusted the position of the soft pillow to make herself more comfortable. It would be great if she could get to her grandmother's house safely, but she still felt a little uneasy when she thought about what happened that day. She thought about saving as much dry food as possible.

Zhao Shu heard the sound of water and lifted the curtain with her hand. A river had formed a waterfall due to its terrain. There were several old men rowing boats on the river below the waterfall. In the distance, a group of children were laughing and playing baretoe in the cauliflower field.

Zhao Shu lowered the curtain and waited until she had saved enough money to buy a few acres of thin land to grow crops and vegetables, and a big yellow dog to guard the house. When she wanted to eat meat, she would go to the river to catch fish. She would also raise a few chickens and ducks to lay eggs, and sell them at market time. She would use the money to exchange for other things and try this kind of rural life where she worked from sunrise to sunset.

Thinking of this, she lay back in annoyance. At the rate she was saving now, how long would it take her to save enough money? No, she had to think of a way to make money after returning from Jiangnan.
