Chapter 586 The Princess Looks Down on Us

Yu Xia felt she should refuse Huanmeng's suggestion.

The sea creatures certainly didn't need guides, but she felt that Ryan's suggestion made sense.

and so--

She still refused.

Seeing Charles and the others walk up to Harrison, Yu Xia thought to herself, how could she not refuse? It was obvious that they were going to be assigned to someone's side.

She preferred to handle the situations Ryan described herself rather than have these guides create unnecessary complications.

Ryan wasn't surprised by her rejection, but he still wanted to try to persuade her.

Yu Xia was adamant about this; she would absolutely not allow Charles or any of his or Harrison's guides to join their group.

After refusing, she stopped responding to Ryan, displaying an image of an arrogant and difficult-to-communicate sea creature in the eyes of outsiders.

Some even looked away impatiently.

Yu Xia saw Bello and Silver Fang standing in the crowd; their presence stood out even among the group of glamorous sentinels and guides.

The two of them were in a similar state to her at the moment, not wanting to communicate with anyone, but because of what Farrell had just said, they reluctantly exchanged a few words with the other factions.

However, it was mostly Bello who handled things, while Silver Fang remained standing there like an ice sculpture, mechanically clinking glasses and drinking with people.

Seeing them like this, Yu Xia turned her gaze back to Metis and Farrell, and strangely felt the strong contrast between the four of them.

She had always thought that Metis and Farrell were the most fitting images of the sea creatures, but it turns out that the two beside her were.

Even the gentle and considerate Bello in front of her showed some discomfort in this situation, with a natural sense of rejection towards outsiders.

On the contrary, Metis and Farrell were quite at ease, especially Farrell. He would give face to anyone who came to talk to him and offer a toast. Compared to his unapproachable appearance during the day, he was calm and reserved.

But Yu Xia inexplicably felt that Farrell was somewhat similar to Harrison in this respect.

"What do Chief Farrell and Chief Metis think?"

Knowing he couldn't persuade Yu Xia, Ryan immediately changed his target.

“We’ll discuss this ourselves,” Metis said.

Ryan then looked at Farrell.

Farrell didn't reply to him immediately, but instead looked at Yu Xia. Seeing that her mind wasn't on the matter, he frowned slightly and squeezed her waist again. "His Highness Ryan's suggestion is worth considering."

He had already been very tactful; in this situation, he had to save face for her and couldn't lecture her like he did during the day.

"If Your Highness does not like the guide, we will certainly not disturb you and will only do our own thing."

Upon hearing Charles's voice, Yu Xia felt a surge of nervousness.

She slightly raised her chin, mimicking Raphael's expression, and swept her gaze indifferently over him, saying, "Do we sea creatures need guides to get things done? We can complete our missions without you."

Her words, coupled with her expression and tone, were incredibly arrogant.

Yu Xia thought to herself, "It's alright. She's just an arrogant, difficult, and headstrong sea princess now! They won't be able to restrain her as easily as before."

Farrell's brow furrowed even deeper. Charles smiled and said, "It seems the princess prefers the guides from the Holy City. We are indeed inferior to Lord Ivi of the Holy City, so it's understandable that the princess doesn't think much of us."

Upon hearing this, Ryan suddenly realized, "So Your Highness wants guides from the Holy City? Then I'll go and talk to the Holy City to see if they can arrange a few Ivi or guides for the sea people."

Yu Xia's little secret was thus easily revealed by the two of them.

But she certainly couldn't admit it, and just as she was about to refute it, Metis said, "Don't talk nonsense. Our princess just gave the Holy City face because of the occasion."

Metis smiled, but the smile was gone from his eyes. On matters concerning the Holy City, the Sea Clan's stance was always the same.

Farrell's expression darkened. If Ryan hadn't seemed harmless and spoken sincerely, he probably would have made a move.

Yu Xia noticed their emotions and secretly felt a chill.

She was certain that Ryan's words were not just a ploy to lure her in, but also a test of Farrell and the others' limits.

Seeing that Farrell and the others were not happy, Ryan put his hands on his chest and quickly apologized to them, indicating that he did not mean it.

Farrell didn't bother arguing with them. These people were among the most powerful figures on the land, and everything they said and did, openly or secretly, was driven by a clear purpose.

They knew better than anyone the relationship between the Holy City and the Sea Clan. Saying these things was merely a way to test their bottom line using this contaminated area.

"We will discuss this matter carefully when we get back. Your Highness and the General have gone to great lengths." Farrell raised his wine glass to them, drank it all in one gulp, and then left with Yu Xia.

No longer having to face them, Yu Xia finally breathed a sigh of relief, but she could feel several eyes watching her from behind. She pretended not to know anything and followed Farrell to meet the next faction.

“If Her Highness doesn’t want us, does Prince Ryan have any other good ideas?” Charles pushed up his glasses, his dark green eyes flashing behind the lenses.

"The sea creatures' domineering and willful behavior is detrimental to the overall situation," said an officer standing nearby.

Others echoed this sentiment, saying, "Clean-up of highly polluted areas requires unity. Now that they're on land, they have to abide by our rules."

"What does the general think?" Ryan looked at Harrison, who hadn't said much.

Harrison swirled the wine in his hand, glanced at the slender figure disappearing into the crowd, and said, "The contaminated zone is constantly changing; not everything can go according to plan."

Ryan smiled and said, "That's true."

Halfway through the banquet, Yu Xia felt she couldn't hold on any longer.

Her duel with Vic took a toll on her, and although she went back to rest for a while, it was only enough to sustain her for so long. She needed to go back and get a good night's sleep to replenish her mental energy.

Without the Golden Flower, she could no longer store spiritual energy as before, but she had to give a portion of the replenished spiritual energy to the Golden Flower seeds that were immersed in the spiritual landscape.

My mental energy is being depleted faster than before.

Farrell and Metis flanked Yu Xia, helping her navigate the banquet.

The people in front of Yu Xia changed one after another, and her attention had long since wandered, so she couldn't remember what they were saying at all.

Until a familiar, rough, loud voice rang in her ears, a large tiger led a group of tiger sentries to her.

Arturo pushed aside the wolf tribe sentry who was talking to Yu Xia and the others, grinned at Yu Xia, and said, "Little princess, why didn't you come to find me? I've been waiting for you for ages!"

Yu Xia was jolted awake by his loud voice. She glanced at the Tiger Division sentries in front of her, remembered Arturo's promise, and smiled, "I'm very busy right now. Are you in such a hurry to serve me?"
