Chapter 678 Maki's Sister

"You say Aug is your brother and Maki is your sister, how can you prove that?"

The sentries didn't quite believe what the young sentry said.

Yu Xia calmly replied, "That's easy. You take me to see them, and they'll know once they see me."

The sentries looked at each other, still thinking Yu Xia was talking nonsense, and whispered among themselves:

"Is this for real? When did Maggie have a younger sister?"

"It's Aug's sister, they're obviously lying to us."

"Why doesn't she just say she's our boss's sister? That would be much simpler."

The sentries chuckled softly.

"Our boss would kill her then; she hates her younger sister the most."

"I think it might be Maki's creditor."

"Then she might get killed by Maki. Maki hates people chasing after her for money the most. Didn't she make a fortune recently? How come she still has creditors?"

Walter didn't speak, his eyes showing a thoughtful expression.

"If she really is Maki's sister, we're in trouble."

As soon as the sentry finished speaking, Walter gave him a cold glare.

The sentry immediately fell silent.

Walter knew very well that this girl was neither Maki's sister nor Aug's sister.

Maki has indeed made a fortune recently, spending money everywhere to hire people, probably planning to pull off something big here.

She has money and manpower now, and no creditor would dare to approach her. Even their captain has to avoid Maggie while cursing her.

But the fact that this "little sentry" could name them and claim he was going to find them suggests that he must have some connection to them.

Walter pondered.

What he's considering now is a greater risk than the fact that she's Maggie's sister.

That's why he sought her out.

Walter didn't think for long.

Maki and Aug's sister
This is truly like someone delivering themselves to your doorstep.

Walter smirked and tilted his head back to take a deep breath of the sweet scent mixed with the nauseating air.

Wonderful, truly wonderful.

“Come with us.” Walter tilted his head to look at the little princess behind Miles. “I’ll take you to meet your sister and brother.”

Miles reached out to stop them, turned his head and said to Yu Xia in a deep voice, "Don't trust them."

As he spoke, the Black Wolf's spirit silently pounced on the sentries surrounding Yu Xia and began fighting with the sentries' spirits.

Yu Xia's original intention was to use Marge and his team as a rallying cry to buy time for the Knicks to return.

These sentries are of high rank, and Miles would be at a disadvantage fighting them, and might even get injured.

Especially that guy named Walter, his strength is no less than Miles'.

She could see with her own eyes the spiritual energy emanating from him, and he could suppress and control the manic energy very well.

However, these are secondary.

Yu Xia caught a glimpse of the red light flashing in Walter's hand, and her heart skipped a beat. She immediately wanted to stop him.

She moved, looked down at the snow wolf beneath her that was already frozen, placed her palm on its back, channeled her mental energy into the snow wolf's body, and controlled it to leap into the battle, blocking Miles and Walter from the fight.

"It can still move?" Walter narrowed his eyes slightly when he saw the snow wolf spirit blocking his way, and then looked up at the girl riding on the snow wolf.

Even in the darkness, he could see her clearly.

Compared to the average sentry, she was much smaller than others, wearing an old cloak, a hat and a mask, the only thing visible was a pair of jewel-like blue eyes.

Yu Xia immediately withdrew her spiritual body upon meeting the sentry's glowing green eyes.

The moment she withdrew her spiritual body, the snow wolf's spiritual body became transparent, and within seconds, it disappeared from everyone's sight.

Yu Xia plummeted towards the ground, but Miles caught her in a flash.

“Miles, don’t fight them,” Yu Xia whispered. “They came prepared.”

“Still waiting for Nix and the others? They’re probably hiding somewhere dozens of kilometers away from the aliens right now. If they’re lucky, they might still be alive to come back, but not now.” Walter tossed a diamond-shaped gem in his hand, grinned, and said with an extremely wicked smile, “Miles, I don’t want to tear you apart in front of this cute little Sentinel. It’s too bloody. She’ll have nightmares.”

Miles glanced at him and said to the girl in his arms, "Don't worry about the Knicks, I'll handle them."

Yu Xia shook her head to interrupt him, "Miles, let's go see Marge. Don't do anything. Wait for the Knicks to come back."

Miles wore a mask, so his expression was not visible, but his steady black eyes revealed a hint of worry.

"They won't take you to see Maki; you'll only see Maki's sister, Sura."

Federal Logistics District.

The backyard of the Holy City Villa.

Several Holy City sentinels knelt with their heads bowed before Raphael. Zong Yu, the leader, said with a slightly pale face, "We lost her not long after she left the Tiger Tribe."

Raphael propped his head up with his hand and slowly opened his eyes. "Which direction did she go?"

Zong Yu said, "She initially circled around the Tiger Tribe area and then headed towards the Sea Clan's rest area. I thought she was going back, but when she reached a corner, she suddenly disappeared."

Zong Yu glanced at Raphael, then quickly lowered his head and said, "She probably doesn't want anyone to know her whereabouts."

The air became quiet.

After a moment, Zong Yu looked up at Raphael and asked, "Lord Raphael, can't you sense her presence either?"

The entire Federation logistics zone, including the additional areas added by the Empire and the Sea Clan, was under Raphael's mental influence. Raphael should know her whereabouts better than they do.

Raphael looked at a small golden tree growing in the courtyard, surrounded by energy crystals that provided it with a continuous source of energy.

That was Raphael's golden tree clone.

Golden vines extended from his robes, connecting with the golden tree and drawing energy from it.

“Someone has masked her presence,” Raphael said.

Zong Yu was quite surprised upon hearing this, "Is there someone who can evade your mental power? Is it a member of the sea race?"

He guessed that the sea creatures might be angry because they knew they were following the young princess.

We let it go before, everyone was busy cleaning up the alien species and contaminants, why are we only settling scores with them now that we've stopped?

Raphael glanced at him, as if he could see what he was thinking.

"Afraid of them?"

Zong Yu quickly replied, "No, that's not it."

He simply didn't understand Raphael's feelings for this sea princess.
Raphael lowered his white eyelashes slightly. "It might not be a person."

Zong Yu realized that Raphael was referring to avoiding his mental probing, and asked, "Is it a different species?"

What kind of powerful mutant must it be to evade layers of defense and remain undetected by Raphael?

At that moment, Naruno flapped his wings and hurriedly landed in the courtyard.

"She did not return to the sea creatures' rest area, and the sea creatures are looking for her."

Naruno folded his wings and bowed his head to Raphael.

"Lord Raphael, she's not in the logistics area anymore, is she?" Naruno asked.

Raphael pressed one hand to his forehead, rubbing his temple with his thumb. "She's in another logistics area."

Zong Yumingye's eyes showed surprise.

"Why did she go there?" Zong Yu asked. "Was she taken away by someone?"

Mingye said in a deep voice, "The sea creatures are searching for her everywhere, yet they don't know where she went. Aren't they supposed to be able to sense each other?"

A short laugh suddenly rang out. Zong Yumingye looked at Raphael in surprise. Raphael actually laughed?

He seemed...very happy?
Raphael quickly suppressed his smile and said to the two of them, "Go to the mercenary district to find her."

"Yes."

The mercenary district is even more lively and chaotic at night than during the day. Sentinels divide up territory according to their teams, and battles and trades take place in the darkness. Flames rise from somewhere, illuminating a space.

The sentries were burning something in the yard.

They weren't there to keep warm, but to drink and fight around the campfire.

"Don't stare at them for too long, or it'll be seen as a provocation," Walter leaned closer to Yu Xia and said, "if you don't want to get dragged in and beaten up."

Yu Xia withdrew her gaze and turned her head to see Walter staring intently at her. His eyes gleamed in the darkness, like a leopard ready to hunt at any moment.

He was tall and agile, and his bent-over posture resembled that of a cheetah with its back arched.

“We won’t help you.” Walter grinned, revealing half a row of sharp teeth. “If you ask me for help, I’ll consider it.”

Yu Xia smiled. "You think this can scare me?"

Walter stared at her eyes, which curved with her smile, and bent down to get closer to her, trying to see the mole at the corner of her eye more clearly, but Miles pushed him away.

"Stay away from her."

The Wot team members tried to pull Miles away, but Yu Xia stepped back to Miles' side and said, "Don't touch him."

Miles' eyes flickered, and he looked down at the girl protecting him.

“You’re too slow.” Walter waved aside his teammates, leaned over to Yu Xia, and said, word by word, “Little Sentinel.”

Yu Xia looked at the diamond-shaped pendant around his neck, "What is that? Why can it block spiritual entities?"

Even her spiritual form couldn't be released.

Wot waved the pendant in front of her, "An S-class containment object."

“It only works at close range,” Miles said. “It won’t work once we’re more than ten meters away from him.”

Yu Xia said to Walter, "Then you should stay away from us and let Miles release his spiritual form."

Walter was amused by her words. "Why would I let him release his spirit form? Even though he's an old wolf, a bite from him still hurts quite a bit."

Yu Xia: "It's not that I walk too slowly, I just need a mount."

Her foot wasn't fully healed yet, and it would swell and ache slightly when she walked fast.

“A mount? That’s easy.” Walter opened his arms and walked towards her.

Yu Xia stepped back, grabbed Miles's arm, and looked up at him.

The two looked at each other for a moment, then Miles bent down and picked her up with one hand.

Walter scoffed and turned to walk towards their territory.

Miles followed at a leisurely pace, and after a while, he gently pressed on Yu Xia's right ankle. "Is your foot injured?"

Yu Xia asked in surprise, "How did you know?"

Miles: "Your walking posture is different from before."

Yu Xia: "I sprained my ankle before, but it's almost healed. It just hurts a bit when I walk too much."

Walter, who was walking ahead, twitched his ears and glanced at them out of the corner of his eye.

Half an hour later, Yu Xia arrived at Walter's territory.

"Vice-captain, you're back."

From a distance, the sentry sitting on the courtyard wall greeted Walter.

Yu Xia looked over and saw that the ground and walls of this area were painted with sickle-shaped patterns using some kind of fluorescent material, as if the territory had been specially demarcated.

After observing it for a while, she realized that the area covered by the sickle pattern was quite large, almost the size of the sea creatures' rest area.

As they approached the sickle-shaped area, shadowy figures began to leap onto the wall.

"Lieutenant, the boss is inside," the sentry guarding the door whispered to Walter. "She's not in a good mood because Black Swan and Maki stole her prey."

Walter ran a hand through his hair and turned to look at Yu Xia. "After you come in, you'd better not say anything, and don't say who you are."

"do you know?"

Yu Xia nodded.

Walter, inexplicably worried about her, looked at Miles and said, "Keep an eye on her."

Miles supported Yu Xia with his arm, standing ramrod straight: "Don't worry."

Walter then led them into the yard.

"Snapped!"

As soon as he entered, a wine bottle was smashed at Walter's feet.

A bonfire burned in the courtyard, its roaring flames illuminating the surroundings.

I don't know what they were burning, but a burnt smell filled the air.

"Did you get what I asked for?"

The woman who was speaking threw a piece of meat into the fire and looked up at Walter.

Walter stepped over the debris, pulled off the pendant from his neck, and tossed it to her.

The woman spat out what she was chewing, picked up the red-glowing pendant, and examined it closely. "Finally, something to cheer me up. That bitch Maggie, I'll kill her this time."

Yu Xia: "."

She and Miles looked at each other, and Miles shook his head slightly.

"You brought back trash too?" The woman gripped the pendant tightly, her sharp gaze sweeping over Miles and Yu Xia.

“It’s not garbage,” Walter added. “The other one isn’t.”

"Oh?" Sula stood up, kicked the stool away, stretched her arms, and her joints cracked a few times.

"Isn't this Miles?" Sura smiled. "Welcome, welcome."

Miles nodded slightly, but his eyes were full of vigilance as he held Yu Xia sideways, adopting a defensive posture.

One second Sura was smiling and greeting Miles, the next second her arm transformed into a serrated scythe-shaped mist, slashing towards him.

Miles was prepared and swiftly drew his short blade from his waist, blocking her attack.

Sula was agile and swift, like a ghost in the night, and his slashes were extremely powerful, the dull thuds echoing through the darkness.

Yu Xia barely saw her movements, only sensing the breeze caused by the attack.

A few seconds later, Sula leaped backward and stopped attacking.

Yu Xia smelled blood.

She turned her head and saw that Miles had a bloody mark on his face, and the hand holding the knife had a long cut.

Even the tough combat suit couldn't withstand the woman's sharp scythe.

Yu Xia was startled, "Miles!"

Miles reassured him, "It's nothing, just a minor injury."

Sula sat back down in the chair, her arms returning to their normal position.

She crossed her legs, twirling the stolen hat in her hand. "Old Wolf, your daughter?"

Miles: "...My employer."

Yu Xia saw her hat in the other woman's hand, touched her head, and realized that her hair had all come down loose.

She looked down at her chest; her pink hair was falling down.

The disguise failed.
