Hogwarts Raven

Chapter 345: A Journey to Ancient Egypt

Chapter 345: A Journey to Ancient Egypt
The wizards knew that Ian had left.

The sun god watched as Ian disappeared from his sight.

“He used some kind of shielding method to block my gaze.” The sun god stood on the hillside, his golden chariot hovering beside him, its intense light illuminating the earth. He gazed in the direction the raven had disappeared, his brow furrowed, Ian’s meaningful farewell echoing in his mind.

"Please give my regards to your daughter and me."

He was certainly aware of the special pact between his daughter and Ian, but no one knew the reason for the formation of this pact; even the gods could not find its origin.

In this regard.

The sun god harbored some resentment. However, what bothered him most now was that the raven not only acted as if it knew him very well, but also as if it had known his daughter for a long time.

Is this correct?

And how did that guy know how to block his gaze?! Raven is indeed very strong, but that strength lies only in its status and its own abilities. It shouldn't be familiar with the power controlled by the gods.

To know.

It has been a long time since the raven disappeared after the fall of Titan, and it has never reappeared during this time. It can't be that it has been hiding somewhere and spying on the human world all this time, can it?

Ian's figure had long since vanished, and no one could give him an answer. The sun god shook his head, turned, and mounted his chariot. With a flick of the reins, four celestial horses, burning with golden flames, neighed and pulled him towards the heavens, galloping towards Mount Olympus. The sunlight atop Mount Olympus was blazing fiercely.

The golden chariot pierced through the clouds and slowly descended in golden light.

Inside the temple.

Athena stood before the enormous star map, her fingertips lightly touching it, and the trajectories of countless stars flowed before her. Her expression was serene, as if she had never left the temple.

As the sun god entered the hall, she asked without turning her head:

"Sent away?"

It was like a casual conversation, her expression and tone completely natural. No one knew where she had been; the goddess of wisdom knew how to use her clones to escape the sight of the gods.

"Hmm," the sun god replied briefly, his gaze sweeping across the hall—Zeus was not there.

Athena then turned around, a faint smile playing on her lips: "That plague god is finally gone, which saves a lot of trouble."

Her tone was relaxed, as if she were talking about something trivial, but the sun god keenly noticed that her fingertips paused for a moment as they lightly traced the star chart.

obviously.

Athena couldn't figure out when Ian would appear next.

She still needs Ian's protection.

"The item has been given to him; he probably won't be coming back." The sun god, oblivious to Athena's unease, sighed and adopted a relaxed expression.

"It would be best if they never came back."

This is certainly not what Athena truly felt.

She is performing.

And the audience.

It is Zeus who may be watching this place at this very moment.

"I hope so." The sun god sighed softly, his gaze turning out of the palace as if he were staring at the distant underworld. "After all... we have even bigger troubles to deal with."

Even he could see what was happening in the underworld, so of course Zeus could too. Zeus was currently hiding in his love nest, his attention completely drawn to something else.

Kratos is climbing out of the Underworld. At the highest point of Mount Olympus, Zeus stands alone on his throne of thunder, his scepter crackling with unstable lightning. His gaze pierces through the clouds, fixed on the abyss of the Underworld, where a blood-soaked Spartan is tearing open the barriers of the underworld with brute force.

Climbing step by step towards the human world.

"Damn beast..." Zeus cursed under his breath, his pale pupils crackling with lightning of anger and unease.

He originally thought that the Sword of Olympus would be enough to completely end Kratos, but he never expected that this madman could not even be bound by death!
“We must stop him before he climbs out…” Zeus gripped his scepter tightly, his knuckles turning white.

He was completely oblivious to the conversation between Athena and the sun god, and had no interest in whether Ian had truly left. At that moment, his entire mind was consumed by Kratos's threat.

"He's almost out."

Hera stood to the side, her voice icy, "What do you plan to do?"

Zeus remained silent for a long time before finally speaking: "I cannot let him return."

“Do you think you can stop him?” Hermes whispered. “He is no longer a mortal, nor an ordinary ghost. He is a god-slayer, an exception to fate.”

Zeus's fingers tapped lightly on the armrest of his throne, his gaze cold and resolute.
"If he is to come, then let me personally greet him and completely end this creature that should not have been born." The shadow of Ragnarok had completely robbed Zeus of his wisdom.

He was afraid.

But more than anything, they became blindly arrogant.

and this.

This is exactly what Athena wants. Because of the law of conservation of energy, the wisdom Zeus lost will converge on her side; in fact, she will collect the wisdom lost by all the gods.

Especially at times like these.

The more powerful Athena became.

This is also why she was confident that after gaining Ian's protection, she could use her wisdom to deceive fate, thereby abandoning her goddess identity and disappearing without a trace.

"I hope the raven's promise will come true." Athena followed the sun god's gaze and looked towards the underworld, but her thoughts were clearly completely different from those of the other gods.

at the same time.

Ian, whom she longed for, had indeed used the information he had learned in Pompeii to evade the eyes of the gods; the brute goddess had once demonstrated a similar method to him.

For top students

Recreating a similar operation wouldn't be difficult. The reason he needed to evade the gods' gaze was, of course, because he needed to continue his journey and required the use of a time machine that was somewhat sensitive to the gods.

Ian hadn't forgotten the female Titan's earlier warning; he was a meticulous young wizard. Only after confirming that the godless could detect him did he remove the ring.

He casually took an ancient bronze ring from his finger and gently tossed it to the ground. The moment the ring hit the ground, a burst of silver light erupted, and the metal structure rapidly extended and deformed, eventually transforming into a strangely shaped machine—a dome-shaped cabin, a red hemispherical seat, and an antenna standing on top.

Watch it a few more times.

He felt that this was exactly like the time machine from the Doraemon manga!

“Every time I see this thing, I think it’s outrageous…” Ian couldn’t help but complain, “Claire’s aesthetic sense is timeless, it’s too anime-like.”

He boarded the time machine, gently pressed the start button, and as soon as he grasped the control stick, a familiar recording began to play inside the cabin.

"Beep—Welcome to the 'Taitan Lyle Custom Edition' Time Travel Device." A gentle yet slightly teasing female voice rang out; she had no idea how many recordings she had made.

"Congratulations, Ian, on the successful completion of your trip to Greece!" The voice of female Titan Lyle came from the speaker of the time machine, her tone light and even a little expectant.

"I hope you haven't forgotten the nectar of the night-blooming cereus~"

This is clearly something that female Titan Lyle is emphasizing.

Ian rolled his eyes.

"This must be the thing you wanted to eat, right? Why is it disguised as some kind of secret mission item?"

He now has a very high degree of doubt about this.

of course.

The recording certainly wouldn't respond to his complaints; Claire's voice continued playing. "Next destination—ancient Egypt, the era of pharaohs and priests, when gods walked along the Nile."

"Good luck, and don't let Anubis mistake you for an undead and eat your heart~" The female Titan's voice became teasing as she pointed out Ian's next destination.

The year was not specified.

The recording ended there, and silence returned inside the time machine.

Ian sighed, pulled the list Claire had given him from his pocket, and glanced at the three newly added Egyptian targets:

"Fragments of Ra's Eye".

(A gemstone said to have been formed from one of the lost eyes of the sun god Ra, containing the light of creation.)
"The oars of the ferry across the River Styx."

(A sacred object used by Anubis to ferry the souls of the dead, said to be able to separate the boundary between life and death.)

"The Pharaoh's Curse Gold Foil".

(A thin gold sheet engraved with hieroglyphic incantations contains the most ancient power of words.)
This time it really was three things. It wasn't that Ian wanted to explain it to himself, but rather that the female Tytan Lyle had left such an explanation on the list he received.

It was as if she was afraid Ian wouldn't know what kind of attribute the thing she wanted him to find was.

It really underestimates the wisdom of top students.

"Ra's eyes? Oars? Gold leaf?" Ian rubbed his temples. "Just finished Greece, and now we're going to ancient Egypt. It's like I'm playing an endless loop game..."

He definitely had that feeling. Ian thought of Kratos, that madman who crawled out of the underworld, wondering what other "surprises" ancient Egypt had in store for him.

History is indeed a bit too fantastical.

It's unclear whether the female Titan is using her as a reincarnator—if Raven has told this guy many stories, then the story of "Infinite Terror" might also be told.

Ian loves reading this book.

Perhaps the same is true for ravens.

"Forget it, let's finish this quickly and call it a day."

Ian rubbed his temples.

immediately.

He gripped the time machine's joystick and entered the spacetime coordinates. The machine emitted a buzzing roar, the antenna on top began to rotate, and the surrounding space gradually distorted.

Ripples spread like water.

A blue energy halo instantly enveloped his entire body.

The surrounding space began to distort and rotate.

Have a safe journey.

Claire's voice rang out for the last time, "Remember, beware of those 'living legends'."

Before he could finish speaking, a flash of light appeared.

Ian's figure completely disappeared from the spot.

"Not Genshin Impact! But activate!" A burst of silver light erupted, and the time machine instantly vanished from its original spot, leaving only a faint spatial tremor, which was quickly dispersed by the winds of the wilderness.

When the light faded, Ian was no longer greeted by the desolate Greek wilderness, but by an endless golden desert. The scorching sun beat down on the earth, and in the distance, the Nile River shimmered, its waters sparkling, while the outlines of the pyramids rose on the horizon.

The air was filled with the scent of spices and the heat of the desert, and the distant sound of camel bells and faint, ancient chanting could be heard.

Ian jumped off the time machine, which automatically shrunk back to its original size and returned to his hand as a ring. He squinted his silver-gray eyes and gazed at the distant city.

"Alright, Egyptian gods..."

He whispered to himself.

"I hope you guys are a bit easier to talk to than those guys on Olympus." Ian wasn't sure if his arrival had been noticed by the local gods.

Perhaps describing it as an indigenous god is not quite accurate.

Let's talk about the current local lords.

Ian became more serious.

If the creation of the Titans and the Norse and Greek gods was the work of extraterrestrials, Ian also has good reason to suspect that the ancient Egyptian gods were also inextricably linked to extraterrestrials.

Historians have debated the nature of the ancient Egyptian gods ever since.

Some say it's an anthropomorphism of nature worship, others say it was a tool for the pharaoh's regime to consolidate its rule, and still others have proposed a bold hypothesis—that the Egyptian gods might be extraterrestrial life forms.

In fact, rumors about the pyramids being built by aliens are quite prevalent among Muggle communities. Therefore, given the close ties between the Norse and Greek gods and the Titans, it's not unreasonable for Ian to speculate that the ancient Egyptian gods were also connected to aliens. Could the origin story of magic be a story of aliens dividing up Earth's God?
"Ancient Egypt...the era when gods walked among men."

He muttered to himself, his fingers unconsciously stroking the Greek spoils in his purse, "I wonder what the difference is between the 'gods' here and those guys on Olympus."

The scorching sun baked the yellow sand, and the heatwave distorted the outline of the distant pyramids.

“No matter what, we’ll know once we see it for ourselves.” Ian stood on a sand dune by the Nile, his deep green eyes slightly narrowed as he surveyed this ancient and mysterious land.

Travel north along the Nile for half a day.

Ian arrived in one of the most prosperous cities in ancient Egypt. Towering obelisks pointed to the sky, temple columns were inscribed with hieroglyphics, and vendors on both sides of the street hawked dates, linen, and gleaming glassware. The air was filled with the aroma of spices, freshly baked bread, and river mud, and in the distance, the long chanting of priests could be heard.

Not wanting to be too conspicuous or stand out from the crowd, Ian adopted some localized disguises, eliminating the need to buy costumes, which was of course no challenge for the Transfiguration master.

It's just a matter of magic.

“Magic is really useful.” Ian, wearing a linen cloak that concealed his green eyes in the shadow of the hood, strolled slowly through the crowd. His attire was not out of place; after all, this was an international metropolis bustling with merchants and travelers, and people from Nubia, Hittites, and Crete were everywhere.

"Fresh figs! Figs blessed by the god Amun!"

"Amulet! The Eye of Horus amulet! It can ward off evil spirits!"

"Nile perch! Just caught this morning!"

The sounds of vendors hawking their wares filled the air as Ian stopped at a stall selling amulets. The stall owner was a one-eyed old man with various scarabs and ancacia crosses hanging around his neck.

"Foreigner, would you like to buy an amulet?" The old man grinned, revealing a few gold teeth. "The amulets here have been blessed at the Karnak Temple!"

Good guy.

That familiar tone.

It's true that different eras, but the same marketing strategy.

"It's more conscientious than the ancient Greek temples."

Ian picked up an Eye of Horus pendant, his fingertips gently tracing its patterns. A faint fluctuation of magical energy emanated from it—it wasn't an illusion; these amulets did indeed contain some kind of extraordinary power. Of course, it wasn't divine power, merely an alchemical creation of wizards, but even so, it was undeniably extraordinary.

“This thing is really interesting.” He tossed the old man a Greek silver coin. “Do your temple priests… really ‘bless’ these little things?”

The old man took the silver coin, bit it, and his smile widened. "Of course! Every month on the night of the new moon, the high priest prays before the altar for our goods. However—"

He lowered his voice, "The most effective ones are those sacred objects 'blessed by the true god.' If you want to obtain them, you need to undergo the trials of the gods..."

He recognized Ian as a wizard.

Therefore, cater to their preferences.
