Chapter 531 Frequency Dimension

Chapter 531 Frequency Dimension
...Is this the Black Dot Group's research facilities?
Standing in the dimly lit, eerie corridor of the space station, Yu Sheng paused for a couple of seconds, looking up at the crisscrossing black spiderwebs that seemed to run through the entire facility.

"...That's pretty hardcore," he couldn't help but mutter to himself.

Well, they truly live up to their reputation as the world's most renowned extreme academics. Even though the ominous signs of the Goddess were clearly emanating from this research facility, they still didn't take it seriously—just the spider silk they could see right now would keep Eileen busy weaving for half an hour, yet those Algerians were still so enthusiastically fiddling with stones in the lab. Their nonchalance was almost enough to stop two foxes from getting up…

It has to be the winter fox, when it's more fluffy.

With these strange thoughts swirling in his mind, Yu Sheng cautiously began to walk forward along the corridor, trying to determine the direction to the circular laboratory based on the bloodstains he had left behind.

After walking for a while, he began to feel that something was wrong.

It was so quiet, so very quiet. There wasn't a soul on the street—you couldn't even sense the presence of any other living people.

Yu Sheng stopped at an intersection, cautiously looking up and around. All he could see were dim lights, empty and quiet corridors, and spider webs running through the space station. There was actually no lack of lighting facilities here, but for some reason, all the lights in the corridor seemed to be shrouded in a layer of gray-black gauze, so that wherever he went, it was as if he was looking through a curtain.

If it were only one or two areas like this, it would be fine, but the environment we see along the way is like this, then... it can't be considered "pollution" in the usual sense.

And how come there's not a single person in such a large facility?
Yu Sheng frowned. He had come all the way here openly and honestly, without ever thinking of concealing his tracks. And such facilities would definitely have security systems, so normally someone should have arrived by now.

According to the original plan, he intended to trouble the black spot soldiers here to help him die evenly in various places throughout the facility, but he did not expect that the plan would encounter problems from the very first step...

After stopping, the subtle changes in the surrounding environment began to become clearer in my perception. It was as if a hollow and faint whistling sound was coming from afar, and in the darkness, it was as if a gaze was falling on me.

Yu Sheng suddenly looked up and saw a small device on the ceiling in one corner of the corridor—it was probably some kind of surveillance equipment, which he had seen more than once along the way.

The slender notch at the front of the small device resembles an elongated eye, shimmering with a dim, scarlet light.

"Eileen," Yu Sheng called out tentatively in his mind.

He received no response.

After several unsuccessful attempts to call out, Yu Sheng breathed a sigh of relief and tried reaching out to the air beside him to open the "door."

A phantom door silently appeared, but when it opened, the opposite side was not the expected destination—a chaotic and distorted light and shadow covered the opposite side of the door, like a wrongly projected shadow.

A vague sense of danger rose from the bottom of his heart, and Yu Sheng immediately closed the door.

This situation seems familiar.

He quickly recalled the last time the portal had encountered this mapping error—it was when he and Old Handsome went to check the room at the end of the second floor. At that time, he entered a place that resembled the temple of the Goddess of Omens through the "mirror," and there, the "door" he opened also exhibited a similar out-of-control phenomenon...

Yu Sheng immediately tensed up and quickly tried to figure out what was going on.

This must be the Black Dot research facility, but the surrounding environment is clearly not from the real world—is it because the power of the Goddess of Omens has dominated this place and transformed it into some kind of "projection space"? Or did those Black Dot scientists really develop some kind of evil black technology from the "Zolda Black Stone" and create such a "prison"?
Based on past experience, Eileen might notice her "soul anomaly" and try to pull herself out... but who knows how far this research facility is from the border area, and whether Eileen's strength will be enough...

Yu Sheng's mind was filled with all sorts of random thoughts, but he didn't stay in one place. He quickly came up with a general goal, then chose a branch at the fork in the road and continued walking deeper into the corridor.

Regardless, the "Zorda Black Stone" placed in the circular laboratory is definitely the core of this place. Although he doesn't know what the stone looks like in this strange space, he has to find that laboratory first.

For some reason, Yu Sheng could still feel the "bloodstains" he had left behind—although theoretically those bloodstains were left in the real world, a kind of vague guidance was still in effect in this strange space.

They seemed to glow with a scarlet light in the dim corridor, outlining a trajectory between life and death amidst the black spider silk that symbolized the end.

Yu Sheng didn't know how far he had gone. The monotonous and repetitive scenery and the overly quiet environment quickly made him lose his sense of time and direction, but he could feel that he was gradually getting closer to the core of the entire facility.

The surrounding spider silk gradually took on a regular pattern, pointing in a certain direction.

But just then, two blurry black figures suddenly appeared in his field of vision, causing Yu Sheng to stop abruptly.

living person?

No... it's a shadow.

Yu Sheng took a deep breath and watched the two humanoid silhouettes walk slowly from a distance, then brush past his body—judging from their silhouettes, they should be two fully armed soldiers from the Black Dot Group.

After regaining his composure, Yu Sheng continued walking forward. More figures appeared in the following corridors and cabins; some looked like technicians, others like armed men.

They would appear out of thin air, going about their business as if they were completely unaware of Yu Sheng's existence, and then slowly disappear into the air.

Yu Sheng also saw another kind of shadow, which might also be a person in this research facility—but trapped in those dark spider webs.

Those unsettling shadows, entangled in spiderwebs and hanging from walls or rooftops, showed no signs of struggling. Instead, they remained quietly in their cocoons of black silk, as if asleep, only occasionally wriggling slightly and uttering whispers like those in a dream.

Yu Sheng carefully passed through a cabin containing many server racks and saw more than a dozen such "sleepers" suspended from the ceiling by spider silk. They swayed slowly in the air like wind chimes, making indistinct murmurs.

...Are these also Algerians from this research facility? Are they still alive in the real world? Or have they been swallowed up by this mutated space station?

Yu Sheng frowned, carefully avoiding the figures caught in the spider webs, and continued to the next area.

He felt he was getting closer and closer to his destination, and at the same time, he vaguely sensed that the closer he got to the Zolda Black Stone, the more blurred the dimensional boundaries around him seemed to become.

He began to see those figures that seemed to be projected from the dimension of reality more and more frequently, hear the voices of those people talking in the real world, and sometimes even see some normal lights projected from the real world. Those light spots were like light shining into a cave through the gaps in the curtain, occasionally illuminating a small area around him.

This change seemed like good news—Yu Sheng breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Just then, a small figure suddenly came into his field of vision.

It was a doll dressed in a black dress, squatting near a gate, looking down and doing something very seriously.

Upon seeing that figure, Yu Sheng's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly walked over. However, as he approached, he cautiously slowed his pace, breaking the silence at a short distance: "Eileen?"

The little doll remained squatting on the ground, seemingly oblivious to the sounds coming from beside it.

Yu Sheng then carefully took two more steps forward, looking down at what the doll was doing.

"Eileen" was holding a pencil and writing in a notebook that seemed too big for her.

The notebook was filled with dazzling symbols and formulas. The unrecognizable characters were like a chaotic jumble of noise, crowding and jostling in Yu Sheng's field of vision, as if trying to escape from the notebook.

Yu Sheng swallowed hard, the extremely strange scene before him making him wary (the main strange thing was that Eileen was actually calculating something): "What... are you doing?"

"The end of the world is coming."

The little doll suddenly spoke.

It did sound like Eileen's voice, but there was also a vague, unfamiliar voice mixed in.

"The end of the world?" Yu Sheng's heart skipped a beat. While remaining vigilant, he quickly organized his thoughts. "It's... an ominous sign, isn't it?"

“That’s the name ‘they’ gave me,” the little doll said slowly, seemingly oblivious to where it came from, its entire demeanor like that of a sleepwalker. “They were terrified, terrified from the first time they gazed at the stars, so they gave me this name… They felt that fear had a source and a form, so they created this object of reverence and supplication…”

Yu Sheng struggled to understand the doll's words. He squatted down beside it and looked at the contents of the notebook.

"You mean, there's a group of people who, out of fear of the apocalypse, created an object of worship for themselves, and that's how this 'object of worship' came to be? Is that your origin?"

The doll didn't answer; it just kept sketching intently.

Yu Sheng thought of Ankaela, and of the celestial bodies—even in the final moments of their fall, deep within the ancient, fragmented memories of the Dark Angel, the immense and despairing shadow of the end of all things still lingered.

"What does this formula mean?" he asked earnestly.

The little puppet finally stopped for a moment.

She raised her head, and Yu Sheng could not see her features, which were shrouded in black mist, but he could see a pair of scarlet eyes.

"The ultimate solution to the universe—once it is calculated, the shelter can be activated."
