The Wolf of Los Angeles.

Chapter 189 A long night

Under the cover of night, Covina gradually quieted down.

In a car at a three-way intersection, Hawke looked at the huge citrus sculpture.

Brian, who was sitting next to him, picked up a camera, pointed it at that direction, and asked, "Hasn't anyone arrived yet?"

Hawke glanced at his watch: "It will start in two minutes."

Brian nodded and asked again, "Is this angle and technique okay?"

"Your equipment here is just a backup. It may not be used." Hawke pointed to the front of the car: "The Savior is more professional than you in this area. He is already prepared."

There were lights on in the distance, Brian checked the time and turned on the camera.

A motorcycle was speeding from a distance, heading towards the huge citrus sculpture.

The light shone on the smooth orange exterior, causing some reflection. Michael, who was driving, squinted his eyes unconsciously.

He seemed to be affected by the reflection, and the motorcycle did not turn but rushed straight forward.

As the motorcycle vibrated, Michael rushed onto the curb and hit the flower garden fence. The motorcycle wheels slipped on the freshly watered lawn, and he fell with a thump, and he slid out on the grass.

It seemed that he was about to miss the citrus sculpture, and the fall would be wasted.

The talent who rushed out of Compton quickly stretched out his arms, trying to grab the citrus sculpture, as if grasping at a life-saving straw.

The arm collided with the sculpture and there was a sound of broken bones.

Michael let out a scream and his arm was broken.

Brian saw everything clearly through the camera lens and with the help of the lights over there. Seeing how hard Blackie worked, he said, "This guy is very dedicated. It looks like his arm is broken. Let the Savior tell him that he will get more money!"

Hawke said: "The savior has found talented people!"

"He's really talented!" Brian said nothing else but was very generous with the money: "Double the salary!"

On the other side, Edward saw that his old friend had fallen heavily, and quickly said to Frank in the passenger seat: "Call 911!"

Frank was originally there to watch the fun, and he took out his phone and asked, "You guys also designed a role for me? You have to pay me."

As he spoke, he had already dialed 911.

Not long after, a patrol car drove over to deal with the accident.

Soon after, an ambulance arrived.

Edward put on his Fox 11 press pass, took his camera and went forward to take pictures, recording all the situations at the scene that were favorable to Michael.

Because someone paid for it, Michael was quickly taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

He suffered a fractured left upper arm and required surgery.

Edward acted as Michael's relative and paid for his medical expenses.

While no one was in the ward, he said, "Double the reward."

When Michael heard this, his arm stopped hurting immediately: “Twenty thousand dollars?”

Edward whispered, "I have the money, wait till things settle down."

"Understood." The Savior's boss was generous and Michael was in high spirits, as if he was not injured: "Just let the reporters interview me!"

Edward said, "Just rest and recover."

In addition to paying medical expenses, Edward also hired a professional female nurse through the hospital to take care of Michael 24 hours a day.

Edward left the medical building, got into the driver's seat of the bulletproof Mercedes, and asked, "Boss, where are we going?"

Frank automatically answered: "The next step is definitely to go to Fox Television Center."

Hawke was using his laptop to copy the videos and photos he had taken: "Listen to him."

Frank pointed ahead and gave the order: "Drive!"

Edward asked as he drove, "Will the lawyer come tomorrow?"

"You guys got my share of the money you cheated them out of," Frank interrupted, "I called 911!"

Hawke said, "You should also give money to your ex-wives if you have it."

Frank said, "You give me cash."

"Hey, old bastard, I saw Salma Hayek's Twitter today." Edward said deliberately: "Guess what she posted."

Frank sneered: "She is holding a whip and beating you who are planting cotton."

Edward was angry and said in a serious tone, "Salma has made her new relationship public. Her new boyfriend is François-Henri Pinault, the chairman and CEO of the French PPR Group. Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Brioni are all brands under PPR. He is younger and richer than you... You have been abandoned again!"

Frank fell silent.

Hawke added insult to injury: "In the future, you can publish a memoir, a series about my ex-wives and ex-girlfriends. By the way, you can't have any property, so you can write me as the beneficiary of the memoir. I don't mind helping you bear this heavy burden."

Frank said, "Why do I know you two despicable bastards!"

The Mercedes arrived at the Fox TV Center. Hawke took the storage disk and went upstairs alone to Channel 11. He found Megan Taylor in the "Ace News" program team.

Entering the office, Megan crossed her arms and looked at Hawke: "I thought you were missing."

Hawke said: "Something happened recently and someone framed me."

He spoke briefly about Bella Thane.

"Your company just started to get better, and you encountered such a mess." Megan sighed: "You were almost finished." Hawke handed the storage disk to Megan: "I found the roots of the murderer behind the scenes, and I am planning a counterattack. Take a look first."

Megan didn't waste any time. She connected the storage disk to the computer and opened the video. She found a man riding a motorcycle, rushed onto the curb, fell on the lawn, and hit his arm on the reflective citrus sculpture.

Hawke came up behind her and held the chair with both hands: "This person has been sent to the hospital for emergency treatment."

Megan, as was her usual habit, played the video a second time, pausing it from time to time.

Soon, she stopped the video at the moment when the motorcycle rushed towards the citrus sculpture and the reflection appeared again, and asked, "Is it related to this sculpture?"

Hawke said, "The one who erected the statue."

Megan's mind was spinning with incredible speed: "Is the sculpture complete with all the necessary procedures? Has it been proven to be safe? Will it reflect light at night, endangering public safety and ultimately causing injuries?"

She pointed at the screen and said, "The main reason for this is this sculpture."

Hawke nodded and worked with Megan on the news, saving him a lot of trouble.

"There are some photos on it that can be used as material," Hawke reminded: "The victim's broken arm, the damage to the motorcycle, the close-up of the citrus sculpture at night, and the comparison photos of the citrus sculpture taken during the day."

Megan opened the photo, looked at it carefully, and said directly: "Leave the news to me."

"Okay, these videos and photos are for you." Hawke prepared to leave.

But Megan grabbed him, stood up and took off her coat: "Do you still want this to be on the news?"

Hawke understood immediately and picked her up, placing her on the spacious desk.

Before the "Trump News" broadcast, Hawke left Channel 11 and went downstairs to his car.

Frank sniffed. "It smells like perfume and the smell of having sex with a woman."

Hawke was surprised: "You can smell this?"

Frank immediately forced Wang to the line: "Don't forget, I have played with more Hollywood actresses than you have ever seen."

Hawke automatically ignored this sentence and took out his cell phone to call Eric Eason: "It's me, do you have time? Come out and meet me, I need your help with something."

Ten minutes later, the two sides met at a bar in Century City.

Hawke said directly: "I have a job here. I need a Mexican actor over 35 years old and a young Mexican actor under 20 years old. They should be reliable and real father and son are best. The remuneration will be generous."

Brian's campaign had sufficient funds. Hawke gestured and said, "Two people can get at least $50,000, and there will be cash rewards depending on the performance."

Eric thought for a moment and said, "I'll ask my agent to look for it."

Hawke said, "As soon as possible."

"I'll go now." Eric left in a hurry.

Hawke called Sandra again and asked her to find someone to inquire about the transfer procedures at Eastern Middle School.

Covina City Hall.

A Lexus stopped in front of the main entrance. Owen told the driver, got out of the car, and hurried in.

In the hall, Arnold, who was wearing glasses, had been waiting for him. He came forward and asked, "What's going on?"

Irving said: "The situation is not optimistic. Those four people can't provide us with any help."

Arnold pushed up his glasses and said, "Now the situation may have worsened."

"What happened again?" Owen asked immediately.

Arnold said: "I had someone record it on Fox TV's 'Trump News'."

The two entered a conference room and an assistant came over and turned on the VCR and TV.

Soon, the "Trump News" program on Fox Channel 11 was broadcast, and the citrus sculpture that Irving funded appeared on the TV screen.

Someone riding a motorcycle crashed into the sculpture and was injured. The news attributed the problem to the sculpture's reflection, believing that the sculpture's glare and its occupation of the originally soft lawn led to the car accident and injuries.

"It's obvious that this guy had a problem with his driving. What does it have to do with the sculpture!" Perhaps because of his inner sadness, a few strands of hair slowly fell from Owen's already bald head.

Arnold said: "That's true, but the media is deliberately leading them, and Fox 11 is biased towards them. I smell a conspiracy."

Owen walked back and forth twice and said, "Look, find out which hospital this man was sent to, go there in person, give him some money, and ask him to sign an agreement to shut up."

Arnold also thought that the matter could not be delayed and needed to be dealt with quickly, so he picked up his briefcase and said, "I've already found out about it, I'll be there now."

He went out and drove to the hospital, but was told that the patient had taken sleeping pills and painkillers and was sleeping and resting.

Arnold had no choice but to call Owen and come back the next day.

But it was a long night.

West Los Angeles, Nordstrom.

Several cars drove slowly and stopped near a villa.

Julian, the leader of the team, picked up the intercom and said, "Follow my instructions and act in unison."

Tonight, they received a tip from an informant that someone was engaging in X transactions here.

Although the LAPD is not as active as the FBI in dealing with this kind of illegal activities, it is also within the scope of its duties. (End of this chapter)
