The Wolf of Los Angeles.

Chapter 427 Someone Designed

Bayside, Long Island, New York.

The situation may be complicated. After receiving Hawke's instructions, Campos personally rushed to New York from Los Angeles.

Two blocks outside the target, several cars converged at a roadside parking area.

This time Carlos and Hierro also brought people with them.

Campos asked them to get out of the car and said, "Ugarte and I will investigate in public. Hierro, you go into the store and watch as a customer. Carlos, you take people to meet outside the store. If something goes wrong, go and provide support directly. Don't hesitate."

Hawke gave them confidence, and the other two nodded at the same time, returned to the car to check their weapons, left here first, and drove towards the target store.

A few minutes later, Campos got in the car and asked Ugarte to drive. The car turned two intersections and soon saw the McDonald's.

On the southwest side of the intersection not far from McDonald's, there is a blue mailbox standing on the roadside, and there is also a hotel nearby.

Ugarte parked the car diagonally opposite the entrance of McDonald's and went into the store with Campos.

Campos went over to take his order, his eyes quickly scanning the waiters everywhere.

Ugarte walked around the store, looked at the kitchen through the glass window, and found an empty spot to sit down.

After a while, Campos came over with a hamburger and fries and sat opposite him.

The two were talking while eating, and Ugarte whispered, "I didn't find those two people. I looked carefully, and the people working now are not the two I saw at that time."

Campos remained calm, picked up the Coke cup, took a sip, and asked, "Do you remember their names?"

Ugarte nodded: "I have an impression."

Campos saw that there were not many people at the ordering counter, so he said, "Go ask around."

Ugarte took a sip of Coke, stood up and walked to the order counter. He looked around and asked the waitress behind the counter: "Where are Haji and Christie? Why don't I see them?"

The waitress glanced at Ugarte and found that she didn't recognize him: "Who are you? What do you want with them?"

"I'm their former colleague. I met them last time I came here for dinner." Ugarte took out a dollar bill and pushed it over: "Are they not on duty today?"

The waitress looked around, collected the tip, and said, "They quit."

Ugarte subconsciously wanted to go to Campos' side, but he held back: "Why did you resign? These two guys! Resigned together? How long has it been?"

The tip was generous, and the waitress opened her mouth wide: "It's been a while, I don't remember exactly, we both resigned together, and it is said that we found stable jobs."

She thought for a moment and then said, "By the way, the other two people who were recruited with them at the time also resigned and left."

This reminded Ugarte: "When did these people come?"

"It's been a few months." The waitress recalled for a moment and said, "The store originally had enough staff, but four people suddenly resigned and the boss had to recruit new people. Unexpectedly, they left again not long after working. The boss was so angry that he got angry with us in private."

Ugarte said: "These guys are really bastards! The reason I went to them is because they owed me money. The last time I came here, they said they would pay me back after a while, but they ran away."

The waitress suddenly realized: "They didn't run away because they owed you money and didn't want to pay you back, did they?"

"Who knows." Ugarte took out another dollar bill: "Do you know where they live?"

The waitress shook her head: "I don't know, we don't interact with them much privately."

At a table in the corner of the store, Hierro was eating French fries leisurely, observing the customers in the store with his companions.

There weren't many people here at the moment, about a dozen customers in total, and they all looked normal.

On the other side, Campos seemed to be eating calmly, but he was actually observing vigilantly.

But until Ugarte returned, nothing unusual was found.

Campos walked out of the restaurant directly, waited for Ugarte to catch up, and then they got in the car and left.

The two then went to a nearby three-star hotel and discovered that the person in charge of technical maintenance had resigned some time ago.

What a coincidence!
The group then reunited at the hotel where they were staying to review their findings.

Carlos said first: "I didn't see anything unusual outside."

"Me too," Hierro said.

Ugarte recounted what he had learned: "There were four people who joined the company at the same time, so they could stagger their shifts and cover all the business hours of this McDonald's. After I inquired about the photos, the four people left one after another within less than three days."

Campos added: "The hotel security guard who provided the clue has also resigned."

Carlos said: "This is such a coincidence."

Hierro unscrewed a bottle of water and said before drinking: "The other party probably didn't expect that we would suddenly come back for a second investigation."

Campos said: "Hoke thinks more comprehensively than we do."

It was clear something was not right, and Ugarte asked Campos, “What do we do next?”

Campos said, "Didn't we ask for the rental address they reported to the hotel and restaurant? Let's go take a look first. I don't think we'll get anything."

Carlos couldn't agree more: "The man must have escaped."

"If not, let's go find four more people." Campos has found a new breakthrough: "Four employees of McDonald's suddenly resigned and left. The restaurant suddenly recruited people, giving those four people the opportunity to join McDonald's."

The group immediately took action and first went to look for the suspected target according to the address. After half a day, they went to five apartments. As expected, the target person had already checked out and left.

The apartment owners and neighbors had little impression of them.

The only gain was that the owner of an apartment secretly installed surveillance in the hallway and got a storage disk.

However, the surveillance video has been overwritten several times and data recovery is needed. Even Hierro, a master, cannot guarantee that he can find what he wants.

The next day, Campos and his team went to look for the four people who had resigned from McDonald's first, but the results were not very successful.

All four of them left New York and no one knew where they went.

Fortunately, Carlos heard from a neighbor of one of the men that the man had gone to New Jersey and the two were still in contact.

Campos paid some money and bought the contact information and address.

That afternoon, they found Hoboken, New Jersey, and met the young man named Press.

Press did not do anything shady. When asked by Campos and Carlos, he said directly, "This happened a while ago. Someone came to me and gave me some money. He only asked me to resign from the McDonald's in Bayside. The amount of money was a bit large, and it was hard to refuse, so I agreed."

He thought for a moment and added, "Yes, there is one more thing. I have to leave New York after I get the money. I am a trustworthy person. After I get the money, I will resign and leave New York and go back to my hometown to work."

Campos asked, "Do you remember what the man looked like or any other identifying characteristics?"

"West Coast accent." Press recalled carefully and emphasized: "Yes, it is a West Coast accent. I have traveled to California and it sounds very similar to the California accent."

Carlos asked, "What about the others?"

Press was silent.

Campos was prepared and took out an envelope and pushed it over: "This is a tip for you."

Press took it, opened the envelope, took it out and looked at it. A smile instantly spread across his face. He put the envelope away and took out a Motorola smartphone: "I think it's a bit strange. When the man left, I secretly took a photo. The phone is limited, so the photo is not very clear."

Campos also took out his phone, and the two added each other as Twitter friends.

Press sent the photo privately via Twitter.

Campos and Carlos asked some more questions but got nothing new.

The two then said goodbye and left.

After getting in the car, Campos looked at the photo carefully. It showed a middle-aged man with a very ordinary appearance, the kind that would not attract attention if he were thrown into the street.

He immediately opened the photo album on his phone, which contained another photo.

Man delivering black package.

Campos asked Carlos to open the photo on his phone, and he switched to the photo he had just received.

The two mobile phones are placed together for image comparison.

The photo that Press took was from the side, while the one captured by the surveillance camera was from the front.

Carlos pointed at the faces in the photo and said, "Look here, and here, there are black spots, obviously moles, and they are the same on both faces."

Campos also noticed it and said, "It should be the same person."

Carlos turned off the phone screen and said, "This is obviously planned by someone."

"At the moment, that's true." Campos reminded: "Keep looking for this person and see if you can find him."

Although the possibility was small, Caroline didn't say much, went out to meet up with Hierro, and returned to New York.

Campos called Hawke and told him in detail what he had learned.

…………

At Los Angeles International Airport, three cars parked directly on the private tarmac.

Edward directed the flight attendants to transport the packed luggage into the cargo hold, many of which contained firearms and ammunition.

At this time, Hawke received a call from Campos and stood in front of the gangway, listening to him for a while.

There was indeed something fishy going on.

Hawke is preparing to travel to New York to join officials from the United Nations Environment Programme and the World Food Programme before heading to Africa.

He told Campos to continue his investigation along his lines.

Erica, dressed in a hunting suit, came over and answered Hawke's call. She asked, "Any results from New York?"

Hawke nodded: "Someone is deliberately guiding us towards the Russians and wants us to continue the war with the Russians."

Erica reminded: "Not only the Russians, but also Satanism."

Hawke said, "Anyone who investigates the Satanic shit will get into trouble."

He pulled Erica onto the plane, sat down in front of the window, and told her everything in detail: "I have a feeling that someone behind the scenes wants to instigate us to go to war with Satanism." (End of this chapter)
