The Wolf of Los Angeles.
Chapter 654 Breaking into the Prison
The information room on the 16th floor of the Coast Building.
On the computer screen in front of Hawke, live footage taken by a drone was displayed.
Under the lights of night, federal prison security personnel are changing shifts.
The prison order remained intact, and everything proceeded smoothly.
Edward pushed open the door and strode in, saying, "Ambrose has sent Betty another message; the operation is tonight."
The military commander of the operation was one of their own, and the operation was practically transparent to Hawke's side.
Hawke asked, "Are the perimeter personnel ready?"
Edward just contacted them: "Campos has already deployed his men, but so far the person behind the scenes has not been found."
"Just follow the clues." Hawke had received the information from Ambrose.
Based on the warehouse information provided by Ambrose, they followed the clues and found the information of the guards who had been watching over the warehouse for a long time.
As expected, all the information provided by the guards was false, and it would take time to investigate.
Los Angeles has a large population; not to mention anything else, the number of illegal immigrants alone is impossible to count, making it extremely difficult to find even a few individuals among them.
In this plan, Campos and Butterfly's task is to control the perimeter.
Hawke reasoned that Joseph wouldn't be so at ease with the Middle Eastern militants and would inevitably try to verify the results of the operation in some way.
He thought of drones, which are now being used more and more widely in North America, and said to Edward, "Tell Campos to monitor the airspace above the prison and watch out for drones."
Edward immediately went to make a phone call.
Hawke pressed the intercom, and the screen in front of him switched to two panels, showing the figures of Jennifer and Erica respectively.
The latter asked, "Are you 100% sure?"
Hawke quickly said, "The other side will launch an operation tonight, using supply transport personnel as cover to penetrate deep into the prison area."
Jennifer had been staying at the branch office for several days, and her hair was a bit messy. After tidying it up a bit, she said, "I'll inform the prison to let them have some leniency."
Hawke said, "We must get someone to storm Epstein's side."
"Don't worry," Jennifer said with a smile. "My people are very skilled at this; it's not the first time they've done it."
Erica then said, "Call me anytime if you need support. The air support team will be on duty all night."
Jennifer said, "You just need to control the outer airspace."
The federal prison, under the control of the Ferguson family's security company, has recently had a tactical assault team from the FBI quietly stationed there, so tonight will be a situation of apparent relaxation but internal tension.
After some discussion, the three ended the call.
Hawke checked the time and said to Edward, "Prepare some midnight snacks; we might be up until the early hours."
…………
In the darkness of night, in the backyard of a supplies company, two large vans were busy loading goods.
Cody, who was in charge of the night shift, urged, "Guys, hurry up, I'll be back soon so I can bring you some late-night snacks."
Upon hearing the last sentence, the burly men quickened their pace, and one of them said, "We must bring alcohol for our midnight snack!"
Cody, who was cultivating a persona of being capable and generous, immediately replied, "No problem."
Someone came out of the office, found Cody, handed him a document, and said, "A list of goods. Make sure the prison gets someone to sign it."
Cody laughed and said, "This isn't my first time delivering goods independently, so don't worry about it."
The man nodded vigorously and returned to his office.
In the darkness on the top floor, Carvajal stood behind the window, constantly looking down.
He took out his phone and dialed a number: "Let's go."
The four people got into two cars and slowly drove out of the backyard.
The streets were unusually quiet late at night, and there were hardly any pedestrians under the dim streetlights. Once they were far away from the supply company, the van suddenly turned into another courtyard.
The armed men brought by Ambro, along with some of Omran's men, had been waiting for a long time.
Cody jumped out of the car and shouted to Ambrose, "Hurry up, time is running out."
Ambro nodded and ordered his men to open the truck bed and unload the cargo using a forklift. More than twenty armed men, who had been pre-arranged, crawled into the boxes that had been prepared in advance in the back half of the truck bed.
Ambro himself also got into one of the cars.
The goods were piled up again in front of the carriage.
Cody returned to the passenger side of the truck in front and told the driver to hurry up and drive to the back gate of the prison.
Under the pitch-black night sky, the back gate of the prison was brightly lit. On both sides of the tightly closed alloy door, several guards stood on watchtowers, monitoring the movements inside and outside.
In the darkness of the nearby streets, it seemed as if zombies were roaming.
Don't go out after dark; this is a consensus among ordinary communities and underprivileged residents in the United States.
Those zombie-like figures were homeless people dragging bags around collecting cans.
Not to mention the nearby residents, even patrolling police officers wouldn't care if they encountered it.
These homeless men wandered around to several alleyways near the back gate of the federal prison, ready to rush out and attack the guards at any time.
At several intersections not far away, many cars stopped and turned off, waiting for the people inside to wake them up.
With the engine roaring, the car's headlights flashed as it rapidly approached the prison's back gate. Cody picked up his phone and made a call to the person in charge there.
When the car stopped in front of the gate, several people came out through the small door.
The supervisor currently in charge of the prison's back gate is named Ernst.
Cody got out of the car to greet them, and showed his entry and exit permit and the identification of the four people in the car as required, while also handing them a pack of cigarettes.
Ernst's style was completely different from Carroll's. He casually waved his hand and said, "Open the carriage and take a look."
Cody wasn't nervous at all, because the company manager, Carvajal, had said that Ernst was related to him.
The supply company wasn't entirely law-abiding either; sometimes they would secretly smuggle contraband such as cigarettes and alcohol into the prison, always choosing the time when Ernst was on duty.
As before, Ernst's two men waited for the rear door of the carriage to open, went forward to take a look, then opened two boxes for a quick inspection before saying to the front, "Boss, no problem."
Ernst returned the documents and packing list to Cody, waved to the high ground behind him, and then took out a walkie-talkie and said, "Open the door."
The iron gate behind slowly opened, and Ernst specifically instructed Cody: "It's very late, the warden on duty and most people are asleep. Drive slowly, keep the noise down, and don't honk the horn."
Cody replied, "We've always been careful."
Two vans drove into the prison one after the other.
A homeless man lying on the street nearby pressed the intercom and whispered, "He's inside."
The homeless people around them headed towards their designated spots, ready to provide assistance at any time.
Less than a kilometer away, on the roof of a two-story building, a bearded man and a bald man opened a box, revealing a drone inside.
Target came up from behind and said, "It's about time, let's take off." The bearded man took out a remote control and piloted the drone into the sky.
The three of them returned to the second floor one after another.
The bearded man continued to operate the drone, the bald man stood guard with a gun, and Target was responsible for observing and recording the road surface captured by the drone.
The bald man glanced back occasionally and said, "Not very clear."
The bearded operator felt it even more clearly: "I've tried many brands of drones, and West Coast Technology is clearly a level above. Their low-end models are cheaper, and their high-end models at the same price point have configurations that are two levels higher than other brands."
“Who knows if West Coast Tech’s drones have backdoors?” Target chimed in. “This company is owned by Hawke Osment, and what we’re doing right now is working on Hawke Osment.”
The bald man added with a laugh, "Using drones from West Coast technology is like walking into a trap."
The building the homeless organization was facing away from had a satellite signal receiver quietly installed on its roof, and several signal vehicles were parked downstairs.
In a room on the second floor, multiple electronic devices were set up, and several technicians and drone pilots were busy at work.
Campos had just contacted Hawke via radio, then looked at Marcelo: "They've moved out. You can get started here."
"I'm leaving." Marcelo had just washed his hair, and his frizzy hairstyle hadn't yet flared up.
On the nighttime screen, two drones captured an aerial view showing two vans slowly moving along a passageway inside the prison.
Hiro, who was in charge of the technology, suddenly said, "Drone signal detected!"
Campos immediately ordered, "Find it, lock it down."
Flower Butterfly Company, having received technical support from West Coast Technology, was already well-prepared.
With lightning speed, Yero quickly deployed a third drone, which flew from high above the prison.
Before long, a quadcopter drone was locked onto by infrared imaging.
These two drones are at least two generations apart in technology.
A moment later, Yero reported to Campos: "We have locked onto the target drone signal."
Campos asked, "Can you trace the source of the signal?"
“Of course.” This wasn’t too difficult for West Coast Tech. Yero opened the satellite electronic map and, combined with the signal feedback, quickly narrowed down the area: “Initial detection indicates it’s at the intersection of Block 3 and Block 4. More precise measurements will take a little longer.”
Campos ordered the men on the other side: "Carreras, take your men and set off. Find the man, and capture him alive if possible."
Carreras grabbed his bag, went downstairs to call his squad, and drove out in three cars, including a signal car, toward the intersection of the third and fourth blocks.
Upstairs, Campos stared at the footage from the drone and the hidden cameras in the prison, then opened the command system intercom and said, "The target vehicle has entered the prison kitchen area. The kitchen area is now under control."
…………
"Shut up! Anyone who dares to utter a sound will be killed!"
In the kitchen's storage area, the prisoners in orange uniforms who were loading and unloading the food, along with several guards and kitchen helpers, were all taken into custody.
A line of AK assault rifles were pointed at them.
Faced with such a vicious situation, these people naturally chose to save their own lives first.
Ambro said, "Hurry up, give everyone an injection."
Immediately, someone opened a box, distributed syringes, and gave injections to those people.
Ambrose looked at the people he had captured and said, "This contains an anesthetic injection that will ensure you sleep well all night. If you cooperate, you will wake up naturally tomorrow. If you don't cooperate..."
"We'll cooperate!" The kitchen supervisor on duty tonight was the first to say. "We'll definitely cooperate."
Seven or eight of the heavily armed bandits were separated to inject these people.
Not long afterward, some people began to lie down and fall asleep.
Ali asked Ambrose in a low voice, "Why go through all this trouble? It would be much better to just kill them all. They're all damn Americans."
Ambrose said, "What if they resist? Should we use guns? How much blood will be lost if we kill them all, and how will we suppress the smell of blood?"
Another person came over and said, "The surveillance footage is sorted out."
As soon as the cargo was unloaded, he immediately interfered with the prison's surveillance system: "What the monitoring room can see is the footage from the last unloading."
Ambrose nodded: "Very good."
The man emphasized, "It can't be delayed for too long."
"Ten minutes is enough." Ambrose gave the order: "Team 1, hurry up and change your clothes."
The six men found cooks or prisoners of similar build and took off their clothes to put on their own.
They then picked up several cardboard boxes containing weapons and ammunition, filled with cigarettes and alcohol, and, led by Nasser, who was dressed as the kitchen supervisor, quickly entered a passageway.
Nasser used his access card to open the metal door separating the kitchen from the prison area.
The other five men carrying boxes of cigarettes and alcohol immediately followed.
After waiting a moment, Ambrose waved his hand, and the rest of the men spread out in tactical formation, covering each other as they advanced.
They proceeded cautiously, trying to get as close as possible to the hardened offender section before alerting the prison guards.
It was late at night, and most people were already asleep.
The kitchen area appeared to be unattended, and the group used access cards to pass through two isolation iron gates in succession.
Both Nasser, who was leading the operation, and Ali, who was bringing up the rear, felt somewhat relaxed, as tonight's operation looked like it would go very smoothly.
But no one knew that their operations commander, Ambrose, was constantly emitting electronic signals.
Every move everyone made was transmitted to the warden's office by another surveillance system set up in the dark.
Jennifer herself was stationed there to oversee things.
As the intruders approached the entrance to the hardened offender section, Jennifer ordered, "Fire a warning shot and then retreat immediately."
"Received!" The area in front of the serious offender prison is heavily guarded, so it's impossible to just let people pass through.
In front of the ward for serious offenders, two guards sitting behind the duty desk saw a person walking quickly towards them and shouted, "Who goes there? Stop!"
Nasser said with a smile, "We are ordered to send you a batch of good goods."
He also shook the cigarettes and alcohol in his hand.
"Halt!" The guard had already drawn his pistol. "I said, stop!"
Nasser knew he couldn't get away with it, so he suddenly crouched down and ordered, "Fire!"
The other five men were already prepared. They threw away the boxes they were carrying, took out the AKs inside, and pulled the triggers towards the duty station.
The sound of AK gunfire suddenly rang out.
The two guards were prepared. They crouched behind the duty station, climbed into the duty room at the back, and locked the metal door.
Nasser ordered a few men to keep watch, and then had a demolition expert retrieve the prepared C4 from the box and install it on the isolation door leading to the hardened criminal cell. (End of Chapter)
