The Wolf of Los Angeles.

Chapter 72 Ability and Ambition

Chapter 72 Ability and Ambition

Wilshire Avenue, bordering West Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

A fierce quarrel suddenly broke out in a detached villa facing the street, and the shouting of the man and woman reached the neighbor's house.

Accompanied by the sound of something being smashed, Miller Collins was kicked out of the house by his wife.

His wife Maria shouted that she wanted to divorce him and let him die.

His daughter was still at home, so Miller Collins had no choice but to get in the car and go out. Feeling irritable, he simply went to a nearby bar to drink.

When people are unlucky, they will only become more unlucky.

In the small bar, the big-screen TV was playing "Midnight Entertainment", and Miller instantly became the focus of the audience.

The gays burst into laughter, and someone loudly asked him how it tasted.

He covered his face with his hands, ran out of the bar, and drove away frantically.

The car was speeding and he was drunk and driving unsteadily, so he soon attracted an LAPD patrol car.

If God closes a door for you, he will definitely close the window for you.

Miller was detained by LAPD, sent for an alcohol test, then convicted of drunk driving and temporarily detained.

…………

"From the video footage, the person standing in the pool is undoubtedly San Diego team wide receiver Miller Collins."

On TV, "Midnight Entertainment" was broadcasting the video shot by Eric himself, and the host Megan Taylor was doing the voiceover interpretation.

When Miller raised his head and reached out to wipe the corner of his mouth, she was slightly surprised: "Did he...eat it all?"

There was a burst of hearty laughter in the West Coast studio.

Hawke raised the can in his hand and said, "Congratulations on our news making the headlines again."

Edward, Eric and Frank clinked glasses with him and drank together.

Eric watched the close-up of Miller Collins on TV, and the depression in his heart disappeared without a trace. He felt extremely refreshed for a moment, and after drinking half a can of beer, some ideas popped up like an erupting volcano.

"Guys, guys, listen to me!" He stood up and danced with joy: "I already have the inspiration for my next work. This time of actually experiencing life has opened up all the artistic cells in my body."

Frank said, "You're not going to make a movie out of this, are you?"

Eric pointed at Hawke and Edward and said, "Their jobs are ordinary yet exciting. They are natural movie protagonists. I must use Hawke as a prototype and adapt a movie. This is my mission as a director!"

Hawke laughed and said, "You can use me as a prototype, but don't mention my name in any situation."

Eric asked, "Don't you want royalties?"

Hawke said, “By the time you adapt the movie, I may not need the money anymore.”

Eric didn't force it: "I'll listen to you."

Edward reminded: "The news is here again."

"Midnight Entertainment" played the surveillance video.

"The special reporter who provided us with news had his studio invaded after he filmed the video above. Four thieves were looking for worthless CDs and videotapes, but the LAPD arrived in time and the four were caught on the spot. Onlookers heard one of them shouting that the studio had offended a big shot in the sports circle."

Miller drinking milk was just shown earlier. When the surveillance video and Megan's voice-over came out, anyone with a little bit of common sense would think of Miller Collins.

After the surveillance video was played, the screen switched back to the studio.

Megan said: "We contacted Sheriff Lucio who is in charge of the case at the West Los Angeles Police Department."

Sheriff Lucio took up half of the TV screen. Following Megan's question, he said, "All four thieves have criminal records. After interrogation, their identities have been confirmed. All four are from the white gang organization Shorty Gang..."

The connection ended, and the screen changed to show a picture of a newspaper clipping.

Megan added: "Over the past few years, there have been media reports that Miller Collins has been involved with the Shorty Gang."

There are more than one clipping and it keeps changing, proving that what he said is true.

There was even a response from Miller Collins, who defended himself in the media by saying that the reason he was photographed in contact with a member of the Shorty Gang was because he and the man were friends since childhood and it was a purely private friendship.

At the end of the show, Megan Taylor specifically mentioned the topic of celebrities and crime.

The dead Robert Downey Jr. was dragged out by her and whipped.

The program is very effective.

"Celebrities and crime, these topics are naturally hot." Frank put down the can and said, "This woman is good at journalism. She is capable and ambitious."

Hawke told the truth: "She is very courageous. I feel like she wants to switch to social current affairs."

The show was over and Frank was ready to leave. He took a bag, threw the empty cans on the table into it, and said, "Want to move up? I haven't known the internal affairs of Channel 11 for many years, but if Roger Ailes intervenes, haha...that will be troublesome." Hawke understood what he meant.

Edward hated Frank's pretense the most. He drank the whole can of wine in one gulp and threw it to Frank on purpose: "Take it and sell it. You're welcome."

Frank was choked and couldn't say anything. He packed the empty can and carried it away.

Hawke turned off the TV and handed the reloaded Taser to Edward: "You sleep down there tonight, will this thing work?"

"Yes." Edward looked at Eric and said indignantly, "Why am I sleeping down there?"

Hawke said directly: "Change into black clothes and make a black bed in the dark. If someone really attacks us, they won't be able to find you."

Edward was about to cry: "I have dark skin so I have to be in the front."

Hawke pulled out his Glock, grabbed another magazine, and went upstairs to bed.

Eric was happy tonight and drank too much. Edward first sent him upstairs to lie on his side before coming back to change into black clothes and black pants.

…………

Fox Center, Late Night Entertainment ends.

Megan Taylor came out after removing her makeup, and heard cheers.

She quickened her pace, turned out of the corridor and came to the office area, and everyone applauded loudly.

Claire came over and said, "According to the latest ratings statistics, we are in the top five of all programs in the United States at the same time for the first time!
Megan was so surprised that she covered her mouth with both hands, her face full of disbelief.

Everyone in the program crew applauded her.

“Thank you, thank you everyone.” Megan pressed her hands down and said, “End of the month party, self-service party, it’s my treat.”

The applause turned into cheers again.

Megan returned to the office with a smile, and just as she sat down, she received a call from Cynthia, the channel director.

The other side said: "Congratulations, you did a good job."

Megan thanked him and said, "Director, I promised you that I can help you get back the lost advertising fees with the ratings of the show."

“You did it,” Cynthia said.

Megan hung up the phone and suddenly felt relieved. She also felt under pressure in this episode.

The show is well done and the material cannot be ignored.

Megan immediately picked up her phone and called Hawke.

The other side asked: "What's the matter?"

Megan said softly, "I want to congratulate us. The ratings of our show have entered the top five in the United States in the same period."

Hawke was simple and direct: "Do I have a bonus?"

Megan laughed, and laughed happily: "I'm going to invite everyone in the program team to have a party, and you can come too."

"Call me after you've set a time and place." Hawke remembered something and reminded him, "That bastard is connected to the Shorty Gang. Be careful when you go out. Watch out for him going crazy."

Megan listened to her and when she left work, she went to the parking lot with a few male colleagues and then drove home.

…………

The next day, entertainment news, sports news, and even social current affairs news were all filled with news about Miller Collins.

The scenes of him burying his head in the moment with another person and wiping the corner of his mouth were all published in the form of huge posters in the most conspicuous position on the front pages of major newspapers and magazines.

Five manufacturers have successively issued announcements, terminating all cooperative relationships with Miller Collins and will hold him accountable for breach of contract.

The San Diego Chargers have called off contract extension talks with Miller Collins.

Hawke had Eric call a tabloid.

Starting with this tabloid, Miller Collins' new nickname spread across America - the Milk Drinker.

There are still a few points that have not yet been resolved. The four people who were arrested from the Shorty Gang are very stubborn and have been taking all the blame.

There are also forces within the LAPD that are blocking it.

Behind every successful gang, there must be normal forces supporting it.

Maria Collins suddenly disappeared after a public appearance in which she cried.

It will be released on November 11st, and it will be updated with at least 1 words. Also, it’s the end of the month, please give me your monthly votes!
