Chapter 96 The Actor Johnson

Chapter 96 The Actor Johnson

More than half an hour later, this section of Peak Avenue resumed normal traffic. Hawke drove east to Century City, changed back to his original clothes, and entered William Morris.

Edward was already waiting in the hall.

He saw Hawke: "Boss..."

Hawke walked quickly towards the elevator: "Let's talk about it upstairs."

The two went upstairs and came to the conference room where Danny, Johnson and Caroline were waiting.

The TV on the wall of the conference room was broadcasting news. The local channel that pushed real-time traffic conditions was also broadcasting text news. The host described the car accident on Peak Avenue in a voice-over.

Caroline looked at Hawke in shock: "Are we going a little too far?"

Hawke said: "It wasn't us who did it. I just arranged a minor collision. Before the car started, Colin Farrell was hit."

Johnson was a little worried before, but now he smiled: "No matter who did it, it's good for us."

"We have to be careful too." Hawke wanted to earn a high income, so he had to ensure that the financier would be safe. He looked at Johnson and said, "Don't take your car this afternoon. Have someone drive your car directly to the door. Find someone of similar stature to wear your clothes and continue to take the San Diego Freeway."

This time he made the water too muddy, and if he was not careful he might drown his own side.

Hawke then said to Edward, "Go find Eric and borrow Catherine's Mercedes."

Edward goes to call Eric.

Hawke then said to Johnson, "I'll go to Culver City with you this afternoon."

Johnson said, "I feel relieved when you are here."

…………

Culver City, the SWAT studio.

In the producer's office, Leonard checked the time and got up to go to the audition room.

Teddy Black came in and said, "Colin Farrell isn't here yet."

Leonard said nothing and sat down again.

Teddy said, "Shall I ask someone to contact him?"

Leonard shook his head: "Wait."

Teddy said no more and sat in the chair next to him.

He knew what his boss hated the most.

When the clock struck the exact hour, Leonard said softly, "Notify the audition room to leave first. It will be held on time this afternoon."

Teddy knew that Colin Farrell would not have any more chances, so he answered and went out to the audition room.

The audition room was paused. After Teddy came out, he randomly sent an assistant to call Colin Farrell's agent to inform him that the audition was over.

…………

William Morris, front entrance.

The tall and strong man got into Johnson's business car, and the car drove away from the company gate and headed straight for Culver City.

Outside a side door of the company that was seldom opened, Hawke observed carefully, got into a Mercedes on the side of the road, made a phone call, and drove to the door.

Johnson and Danny walked out quickly and got into the Mercedes.

Hawke started the car and chose to go east, heading from La Sierega Boulevard to Culver City.

Edward drove behind at a long distance.

If you have a tail, he will easily find you.

Johnson was quite emotional: "We turned a movie audition into a secret agent trip."

Dani said, "As long as I can get the role, everything is worth it."

Hawke, who was driving, said: "We just have to be vigilant and careful. I don't know what other actors who get important roles in other projects have to pay."

Johnson fell silent, because being an actor is not an easy path.

For example, Leonardo DiCaprio, a top star in the circle, has many rumors about his relationship with bigwigs in Washington.

Hawke asked, "What's the situation with Colin Farrell? Have you asked?"

"The truck driver said the accelerator was stuck on the floor mat." Danny specifically asked someone, "The car was fully insured, the truck driver took full responsibility, Colin Farrell and his agent were not seriously injured, it depends on how the LAPD determines the responsibility."

She added: "The truck driver is a member of a union. He has applied for legal aid from the union. Unions are very difficult to deal with."

Hawke exclaimed: "I learned it."

There were no accidents along the way and the Mercedes-Benz arrived safely at the door of the crew's studio.

Hawke went upstairs with Johnson and Dani.

Under the guidance of the assistant director, I entered the dressing room.

The production manager from the crew wants to discuss something with Dani.

Hawke was left alone in the dressing room with Johnson.

Hawke checked the facilities such as chairs before letting Johnson sit down.

An assistant knocked on the door with drinking water, placed several bottles of mineral water on the dressing table, and handed one to Johnson.

Hawke took it and said, "Thank you."

The assistant smiled and quickly left the dressing room.

Hawke put the water aside, opened the bag he brought, took out the water and asked, "Would you like some?"

Johnson said, “No need.”

The makeup artist and assistant came in one after another and started to put makeup on Johnson.

After putting on makeup, the previous assistant director came over and took Johnson to the audition room.

Hawke followed all the way to the door of the audition room.

He has no control over what happens in the audition room.

Contrary to what Hawke expected, Johnson came out in less than half an hour.

Hawke looked at his smiling face and asked, "Is it going well?"

Johnson whispered, "The producer and director are very satisfied. I feel very confident."

On the way back to the dressing room, they met Danny. Before Danny had time to talk to them, she was called away by a phone call.

After Johnson came out of makeup, Hawke asked someone and Dani went to the producer's office.

Director Clark Johnson came over, shook Johnson's hand and said, "Congratulations, on behalf of the crew, I'm officially informing you that you've passed the audition, and the male lead is yours."

Johnson was full of surprise: "Thank you, thank you!"

He held the director's hands with both of his own: "I don't know how to express my gratitude to you. After I finish signing the contract with the crew, I will hold a party. Please be sure to attend."

Clark naturally has the airs of a director: "Please confirm the time first, I still need to check the schedule."

Johnson said quickly: "I will notify you as soon as I confirm the time."

Clark patted his arm and said, "Prepare well for this role. I am very optimistic about you."

Hawke sat aside and watched the two men arguing until Director Clark left, then he said, "Dawn, congratulations."

Johnson reached out to high-five him, then pulled Hawk up: "This is our common victory."

He said with a serious expression: "I have a feeling that if it weren't for you, I wouldn't have gotten this role. The competition is too damn fierce."

Hawke knew very well that his actions were the trigger for the situation to develop to this point.

But it’s good that the goal is achieved.

Hollywood is a winner-takes-all game.

The audience will only remember that you became a big star. Few people really care about how many times you ate fried chicken, how many liters of horse urine you drank, or how much more you paid in the process of becoming a star.

Johnson was excited and went to call his friend.

Hawke took out his cell phone and called Caroline: "Miss Baa, I have good news for you. Dawn passed the audition."

Caroline was extremely excited: "That's great, I got another $20,000 in bonus in addition to the $20,000! I can go shopping again!"

"You will go bankrupt sooner or later and become a fat sheep." Hawke hung up without waiting for a reply.

He texted Edward again.

Edward was very calm after receiving it, because in his eyes, this was the inevitable result.

When has the boss ever failed in his attempt?

Hawke and Johnson waited for nearly an hour before Dany came back.

She said, “Let’s talk in the car.”

The three of them went out, got into the Mercedes and drove back.

Johnson asked, "What did you talk about with Leonard?"

"We have discussed the release date, salary and role." Dani knows Hawke's ability and specifically said, "Due to the success of The Scorpion King, the salary will not be less than 700 million US dollars. There is still room for negotiation. The details will depend on the subsequent negotiations."

Johnson understood what his agent's wife meant, and said to Hawke, "I will sign the actor's contract here and pay you the remuneration as soon as possible."

Hawke took the lead: "I won't be polite." Dany then talked about some of the crew's requirements and shooting schedule.

Hawke didn't listen very carefully; it had little to do with him.

Back at William Morris, Caroline was already waiting in the small conference room.

Danny brought a bottle of champagne from her office.

Edward helped bring the champagne glasses.

Everyone asked Hawke to say a few words.

Hawke came to the front of the conference table and said loudly: "Guys, we can celebrate with champagne now!"

Johnson popped open the champagne and poured a glass for everyone.

He was the first to pick up the cup and said, "This cup is for everyone. Without you, I wouldn't have won the audition."

Hawke drank a full glass and said directly: "Next time you have such business, you can continue to look for me."

Although there was a small accident this time and the water became too turbid, the expected goal was achieved.

Johnson brought the bottle and refilled Hawke's glass. He drank with him and said, "These difficult problems can always be easily solved in your hands. I will definitely come to you when I encounter difficult problems in the future."

Hawke laughed, "You are my number one client now."

After drinking champagne, Dany and Johnson prepared for tomorrow's formal negotiations.

Hawke and the others said goodbye and left.

When he went downstairs, he could hear the sound of high heels hitting the ground at a very fast frequency behind him.

Hawke waited for the voice to get closer, without even looking, and said, "Miss Baa, what are you going to do in such a hurry?"

Caroline followed from behind: "Do you know it's me?"

Hawke said deliberately: "The ewe's hooves hit the marble floor with a distinctive sound."

Caroline was indignant and deliberately raised her red high heels a little: "This is the latest model of Manolo. I can buy ten pairs of the ones you wear."

Hawke countered: "Wearing it for a long time will cause the big toe to turn outward, the Achilles tendon to become inflamed, and the skin on the foot to become dry and cracked."

He slapped his forehead and said, "Look at me, I'm confused. You have hooves, so you won't have these problems."

Caroline was so angry that she almost trotted away in her high heels.

Hawke went out, got into the car driven by Edward, and said, "Go back to the studio."

Edward dropped Hawke off at Fountain Street but did not get off.

Hawke asked, "Go take care of what you have first. You will have the day off tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to rest."

Edward scratched his head and said, "Boss, I've been busy for so many days and I haven't met Deborah and Indio. They called me several times. If I don't go, all the relationships I've established will be wasted."

Hawke waved his hand: "Go ahead, go ahead."

Although he didn't know why Hawke targeted Donnie, Edward knew very well that the boss didn't like the squid, so he assured him, "Don't worry, boss. I've been to Deborah's house. She hasn't thrown away her wedding photo with Donnie yet. I'll definitely hang it up when the time comes!"

He became more and more excited as he spoke: "If I get the chance, I will teach that good-for-nothing son of Donnie a lesson."

Hawke added fuel to the fire: "Donnie will thank you very much on God's side."

Edward drove to a nearby boutique to buy a gift for Indio Donny first.

He may not be very smart in other aspects, but he always has ways to deal with single women with children.

Children are the best breakthrough.

If you can take care of the child, you can basically deal with the woman about 60 to 70 percent.

Edward bought the little boy's favorite gift and easily dispelled Deborah and Indio's dissatisfaction with him.

Hawke returned to the studio, tidied up, took back various equipment from the car, and performed necessary maintenance.

Johnson called again.

Hawke's first reaction after answering the call was: "Something's wrong?"

"No." Johnson said with a smile: "I just discussed it with Dani. After the negotiation is completed, I plan to rent a yacht in the free time before joining the group and invite you, the Savior, Caroline, and a few friends of mine to go out to sea for a party."

Hawke said: "Wild parties, I like it."

Johnson continued, "Do you have any female friends? Bring them along." He reminded, "I'll prepare some fishing rods. If you like fishing, let's have a fishing contest."

Hawke deliberately joked: "Who can catch more mermaids?"

Johnson said: "That's fine, I like this kind of sport."

Who doesn’t like normal men?

Hawke chatted with him for a few words and hung up the phone.

When he went out to get his bag from the car, he noticed Frank waving at him from the parking lot across the street.

Hawke crossed the street and came to the RV.

Frank, his hands covered in grease, was holding a wrench and repairing the RV.

Hawke asked, "What's the problem?"

Frank said, "The air conditioning compressor is broken. It's July, the hottest time in Los Angeles. I'm afraid of heat, and I can't sleep without air conditioning at noon."

He looked across the street at the fountain: "I can stay at your place temporarily."

Hawke occasionally found it interesting to see him showing off. If this guy showed off in front of him every day, he would not be able to help but beat him up.

He thought of a solution: "The last theft compensation lawsuit against the Shorty Gang has ended. It should be coming soon. I'll call and ask. Once the compensation is received, I'll buy you a new RV."

Frank was straightforward and threw the wrench away. "Very good, I don't need to repair this old RV. I will sell it when your new RV arrives."

Hawke prepared to make a phone call.

Frank took out his cell phone and made a call. Not long after, he said, "The application for compensation was approved when I told you last time. The auction of the confiscated property of those four bastards has ended. The money has been paid, and you will receive a call soon."

He shook his head: "The efficiency of these municipal and law enforcement departments in the United States is getting worse and worse. If you don't take the initiative to call and ask, they don't know when to call you."

Not long after, Hawke received a call from the local court, informing him to bring the necessary documents and go to collect the theft compensation before the working day.

Frank was in a very good mood and shouted that he would go tomorrow.

The next morning, Hawke drove Frank to collect a total of $3.52 in compensation.

He then took Frank to the Los Angeles International Motor City.

Frank was very familiar with the place, so he took the lead in going to the used car market and found a familiar manager.

This old man is blinding when he's showing off, but he's very reliable when he's doing things.

Hawke plans to buy him a new RV for around $5.

"I don't want anything over $3.5." Frank was very particular: "I earned this $3.5 through my own ability and connections. It's only natural that I use it to buy an RV."

Hawke is willing to save money: "Okay, I'll listen to you."

Frank called the manager over and said, "Bill, I'll give you the car. You know what the relationship between your boss and me is. Don't make trouble."

Bill responded carefully: "Don't worry, the RV I'm taking you to see is almost new. A senior executive of an IT company bought it for vacation, but he was fired and couldn't even pay off the loan..."

The car that the group went to see was a Ford RV, which really looked new.

Hawke had no knowledge of RVs and couldn't name the specific model. He got in to take a look, then got out and waited.

Frank stayed in the car for a long time before getting off. He was very satisfied with the RV and said, "This is it!"

He then said to Hawke, "You go and pay the money, and the car will be in your name."

Hawke was ready and followed Bill into the cashier's office.

This is a large automobile city that provides one-stop service.

Hawke registered the RV under the name of West Coast Studios.

When Bill returned to East Hollywood, he found a driver and made the deliveries in an RV.

Hawke drove Frank.

The old man looked back from time to time and looked at his new home, quite satisfied.

But he thought of something and the smile on his face suddenly disappeared.

Frank turned to look at Hawke: "When did you start plotting against me?"

Hawke was surprised: "Why would I plot against you? What do you have? You are poorer than the savior. You only have a broken RV that is not even your own."

Frank seemed to see through everything: "My old RV is gone, and the new one I bought is registered under your studio's name. If your studio has problems in the future, or goes bankrupt, this RV will also be taken away by someone else, and I won't even have a place to live."

He sneered twice: "You tied me up with you bastards in a motorhome. What a good plan."

Hawke couldn't help laughing and said deliberately: "You were hurt so badly by your ex-wives that you have paranoia."

"You don't understand." When talking about his ex-wife, Frank automatically switched to the state of the king of kings: "If you have not experienced the glory of standing on the top, you can't taste the pain of falling off the cliff. What I have experienced is beyond your imagination."

He asked Hawke: "When you are old and weak, your newly married superstar wife calls all your ex-wives to organize a sports meeting, but you are unable to do it and are laughed at by all of them. Do you understand the pain?"

Hawke is a bastard: "For someone as brilliant as you, there must be some hidden assets, right? If it's under your name, it will be discovered. How about this, you transfer the assets to me, and I'll take you to enjoy it to your heart's content..."

Frank sneered: "Is this what you mean by never plotting against me?"
