“Not at all arbitrary,” Rahu said. “Mortals worship gods because they have something to ask of them. They want gods to satisfy their various desires, but they don’t care who these gods are or what their origins are.”

Luo Hou looked at Pei Jue and said, "Although you were appointed City God by the Golden Wheel King, the principle is the same. In the hearts of mortals, a god must have spiritual power to be considered a god. Now that your City God Temple has been replaced by a Luo Hou Bodhisattva Temple, and the City God statue has been replaced by Luo Hou Bodhisattva, to mortals it is just a change of god. As long as life goes on, as long as this god has spiritual power, that's enough."

“That’s just sophistry,” Pei Jue said. “Although I haven’t received the official title from the Heavenly Court, I have been appointed by the Golden Wheel King, which makes me far more righteous than you, a demon who has usurped a place in the temple.”

Pei Jue suddenly came to her senses and said, "You killed so many people."

“No,” Rahu said, “I didn’t kill those people, you did. I just gathered them under my command and made them my soldiers. I even blessed them and fulfilled their wishes. But you killed so many ghost generals and ghost soldiers as soon as you entered the city. This demon is not me, it is you. All the people in the city saw it.”

Upon hearing this, Pei Jue immediately looked at the Rakshasa ghost soldiers around her, and only then did she get a clear look at their appearances.

Although their eyes were blood red, they looked no different from ordinary people.

At that moment, all the Rakshasa demon generals and soldiers knelt down, kowtowed and worshipped Rahu, and shouted, "Rahu Bodhisattva, have mercy!"

Pei Jue swayed, her face filled with despair. Even if she were powerless to defeat Luo Hou and was about to die here, she would not feel despair.

But the current situation has left her feeling utterly desperate, both inside and out.

She went to great lengths to obtain the title of a hairy goddess from the Golden Wheel King, and she never lost heart in the face of the contempt of the righteous gods of Heaven.

She worked hard to collect wandering souls and send them to the underworld, to subdue demons and exorcise ghosts, and to do things for the people of the city.

Even when her temple was robbed, she did not lose heart, but instead worked hard to cultivate her skills, hoping to reclaim her temple.

But all of this has destroyed her resolve and faith. Is this what Buddha is like? The position and divine status that she couldn't obtain through her painstaking efforts to do good deeds could be easily obtained by those wicked demons.

At this moment, Pei Jue had lost all will to live, and the thought of reclaiming the temple had completely vanished from his mind. Seeing Pei Jue's expression, Luo Hou smiled faintly, put his hands together and said, "Amitabha, Heaven has the virtue of cherishing life. Although you have killed so many of my soldiers, this humble monk will spare your life this time because you have a repentant heart. You may leave."

Pei Jue lowered his head, said nothing, and slowly turned and walked out of the temple.

Pei Jue quickly asked, "What makes Your Majesty say this?"

The Golden Wheel King said, “That Rahu Bodhisattva is a demon, and a demon from the side of the Heavenly Revelation King. I am now imprisoned here by him, barely clinging to life. If my brother, the Heavenly Revelation King, arrives, I will die without a burial place. I beg the City God to save me.”

Upon hearing this, Pei Jue immediately laughed, "Rakshasa Demon, Rakshasa Demon, you almost corrupted my Dao heart."

After saying that, Pei Jue said to King Jinlun, "Your Majesty, do not be afraid. You have bestowed upon me the favor of being a deity. I will risk my life to send you out of the city."

But just as he used his soul-binding technique, he discovered that Pei Jue's soul was no longer in the mortal realm.

Luo Hou was stunned for a moment, but he didn't dare to think about causing a big disturbance in the underworld. Instead, he raised his hand and unleashed a purple-black demonic flame, melting the black iron spear stuck in the ground into a pile of molten iron.
