I am a fairy in Journey to the West

Chapter 413 The King Who Repays Kindness and Saves Lives

Pei Jue returned to Peach Blossom Temple and saw Zhuang Yan sunbathing in the courtyard. He quickly walked up to him and said, "Old Zhuang, I've succeeded!"

Zhuang Yan smiled and said, "Congratulations."

"Congratulations? I should be thanking you." Pei Jue came up to Zhuang Yan and bowed to him in gratitude.

Pei Jue then stood up and said to Zhuang Yan, "I'm going to take back my City God Temple now. You wait here for my news."

After saying this, Pei Jue was about to turn and leave when Zhuang Yan stood up and said, "It's just a temple. You're not a celestial deity, so why care so much? Besides, you've already cultivated to the point of 'Piercing the Stars,' and as long as you cultivate diligently, becoming an immortal is only a matter of time. In my opinion, why don't you find a beautiful place to cultivate in seclusion, detach yourself from worldly affairs, and strive to become an immortal as soon as possible? What do you think?"

“Even so, we’ll have to wait until I take back the City God Temple.” Pei Jue said, carrying the Xuan Tie Spear, “That Rakshasa Demon was taken from me, and I must take it back from him.”

"You don't need to persuade me anymore, I'm determined to do this." After Pei Jue finished speaking, he cupped his hands towards Zhuang Yan and said, "Old Zhuang, just wait for my good news."

After saying that, Pei Jue took off on the wind and flew out of Peach Blossom Temple.

Half an hour later, Pei Jue arrived outside Puyu City, only to find that the city walls and the area outside the city were patrolled by Rakshasa ghost soldiers.

Pei Jue thought for a moment, since the whole thing was about taking back the City God Temple and they were destined to have a big fight with that Rakshasa Demon, there was no need to be sneaky.

Thinking of this, Pei Jue simply carried the black iron spear and walked openly to the city gate. Before the Rakshasa soldiers could come up to question him, he raised his hand and stabbed the two closest Rakshasa soldiers to death.

Before the other Rakshasa soldiers in front of the city gate could react, he rushed forward and wielded his black iron spear, killing all the Rakshasa soldiers in front of him.

Upon seeing this, the Rakshasa demon general on the city wall quickly realized what was happening and immediately dispatched a large number of Rakshasa demon soldiers to surround and annihilate the enemy.

However, these Rakshasa ghost soldiers were completely ineffective against Pei Jue, who had already mastered the 'Piercing Star Technique'.

Pei Jue wielded his black iron spear with great skill, swinging it to the left to kill a group of Rakshasa soldiers and to the right to stab several Rakshasa generals to death.

Pei Jue fought her way into the city, and no matter how many Rakshasa ghost soldiers came, they could not stop her.

Pei Jue quickly arrived at the former City God Temple, now known as the 'Luo Hou Temple'. On her way into the city, there was a bloody path paved with the corpses of Rakshasa ghost soldiers.

Outside the Rahu Temple, Pei Jue was surrounded by tens of thousands of Rakshasa ghost soldiers, but she remained fearless and fought her way into the Rahu Temple with her black iron spear in hand.

But when she stormed into the Rahu Temple and arrived outside the main hall, she witnessed a scene that shocked her.

Dozens of men, women, and children were seen devoutly offering incense inside and outside the main hall, and what they were worshipping was the statue of the Rakshasa demon.

The moment they saw Pei Jue, covered in blood, rush in, all the people screamed in terror and fled in all directions.

Pei Jue realized what was happening and quickly shouted, "Don't be afraid, everyone. I'm here to exorcise the demon."

But no one believed her; instead, they ran towards the direction of the Rakshasa demon soldiers.

The Rakshasa demon soldiers did not make things difficult for the people, but instead made way for them.

Soon all the people in the temple had fled, leaving Pei Jue standing there stunned. At that moment, a voice rang in her ear: "Now you are the demon."

Pei Jue looked up and saw the Rakshasa Demon wearing a kasaya walking out of the main hall.

“Rakshasa Demon.” Pei Jue’s eyes narrowed, and he pointed the black iron spear in his hand at Rahu, saying, “Give me back my temple.”

"What do you mean, 'your temple'?" the Rakshasa Demon laughed. "This is my temple. Didn't you see the people in the city offering incense to me just now?"

Pei Jue sneered, "I don't know what kind of sorcery you used. Those people were just bewitched by you."

Upon hearing this, the Rakshasa Demon laughed loudly and looked at Pei Jue, saying, "You little demon, you understand neither gods nor humans, you are truly pitiful."

"What don't I understand?" Pei Jue asked. "And what's pitiful about it?"

The Rakshasa Demon looked at Pei Jue and said, "I say you don't understand God because you don't understand God's principles. I say you don't understand humanity because you don't understand the human heart."

Pei Jue said, "You say I don't understand the principles of God. I haven't been a true god yet, so I don't really understand them. But to say I don't understand human nature is a bit arbitrary, isn't it?"

“Not at all arbitrary,” Rahu said. “Mortals worship gods because they have something to ask of them. They want gods to satisfy their various desires, but they don’t care who these gods are or what their origins are.”

Luo Hou looked at Pei Jue and said, "Although you were appointed City God by the Golden Wheel King, the principle is the same. In the hearts of mortals, a god must have spiritual power to be considered a god. Now that your City God Temple has been replaced by a Luo Hou Bodhisattva Temple, and the City God statue has been replaced by Luo Hou Bodhisattva, to mortals it is just a change of god. As long as life goes on, as long as this god has spiritual power, that's enough."

“That’s just sophistry,” Pei Jue said. “Although I haven’t received the official title from the Heavenly Court, I have been appointed by the Golden Wheel King, which makes me far more righteous than you, a demon who has usurped a place in the temple.”

"Tsk tsk tsk," Luo Hou shook his head and sneered, then raised his hand and presented a decree to Pei Jue. "You say I haven't received the proper ordination, then take a look at this."

Pei Jue took the imperial edict with a puzzled look, opened it, and then froze.

"This is the decree of the Buddha, bestowing upon you the title of Bodhisattva of Clean Toilet and Peace?" Pei Jue said in shock.

Luo Hou smiled slightly, then spread his arms, and the bloody demonic light on his body instantly subsided, replaced by an incomparably pure golden Buddhist light.

Under the Buddha's light, everything became incredibly peaceful and serene. Pei Jue was first puzzled, then doubtful, and finally, when she was also enveloped in the Buddha's light, a trace of self-doubt and questioning of everything appeared in her eyes.

At this moment, Rahu waved his hand, and the decree flew back into his hand.

Then Rahu said, "You work so hard to exorcise demons and ghosts, yet you can only be a lowly god whom no one respects. But what about me? Look at me, I killed several Buddhist venerables, destroyed an entire temple, and killed so many monks, yet in the end, I was appointed a Bodhisattva by the Buddha. Tell me, don't you understand the divine?"

Pei Jue suddenly came to her senses and said, "You killed so many people."

“No,” Rahu said, “I didn’t kill those people, you did. I just gathered them under my command and made them my soldiers. I even blessed them and fulfilled their wishes. But you killed so many ghost generals and ghost soldiers as soon as you entered the city. This demon is not me, it is you. All the people in the city saw it.”

Upon hearing this, Pei Jue immediately looked at the Rakshasa ghost soldiers around her, and only then did she get a clear look at their appearances.

Although their eyes were blood red, they looked no different from ordinary people.

At that moment, all the Rakshasa demon generals and soldiers knelt down, kowtowed and worshipped Rahu, and shouted, "Rahu Bodhisattva, have mercy!"

Pei Jue swayed, her face filled with despair. Even if she were powerless to defeat Luo Hou and was about to die here, she would not feel despair.

But the current situation has left her feeling utterly desperate, both inside and out.

She went to great lengths to obtain the title of a hairy goddess from the Golden Wheel King, and she never lost heart in the face of the contempt of the righteous gods of Heaven.

She worked hard to collect wandering souls and send them to the underworld, to subdue demons and exorcise ghosts, and to do things for the people of the city.

Even when her temple was robbed, she did not lose heart, but instead worked hard to cultivate her skills, hoping to reclaim her temple.

But all of this has destroyed her resolve and faith. Is this what Buddha is like? The position and divine status that she couldn't obtain through her painstaking efforts to do good deeds could be easily obtained by those wicked demons.

What does this mean? And what do I mean?
With a soft 'clink,' the black iron spear slipped from his hand and fell to the ground.

At this moment, Pei Jue had lost all will to live, and the thought of reclaiming the temple had completely vanished from his mind. Seeing Pei Jue's expression, Luo Hou smiled faintly, put his hands together and said, "Amitabha, Heaven has the virtue of cherishing life. Although you have killed so many of my soldiers, this humble monk will spare your life this time because you have a repentant heart. You may leave."

Pei Jue looked up at Luo Hou, who was still enveloped in a halo of Buddhist light.

Pei Jue lowered his head, said nothing, and slowly turned and walked out of the temple.

"Your spear." Luo Hou's voice sounded from behind. Pei Jue turned around and saw that the black iron spear had been sent to his face by Luo Hou's magic power.

Pei Jue caught it, said "thank you," and then dragged the black iron spear away from the Rahu Temple.

After leaving the Luohou Temple, Pei Jue appeared extremely dejected, wandering aimlessly through the streets.

The Rakshasa soldiers and ghost generals stopped attacking her, and the people in the city screamed and ran away as if they had seen a demon when they saw her.

Pei Jue chuckled self-deprecatingly and wandered aimlessly through the city until he suddenly bumped into a stone wall.

Pei Jue looked up and realized that he had arrived at the palace of the Golden Wheel King. Pei Jue immediately remembered the time when the Golden Wheel King conferred the title upon him.

She came to her senses, rallied her spirits slightly, and seeing that no one was around, she took flight and slipped into the palace.

King Jinlun sat dejectedly on his throne, looking at the assembled officials standing on both sides of the hall, and couldn't help but sigh.

The civil and military officials remained silent, standing there waiting for the time to end the court session.

Now the entire city of Puyu is under Rahu's control. The Golden Wheel King and all the civil and military officials are just figureheads, merely maintaining the facade of a court under Rahu's orders.

Pei Jue watched from the side. The hall was silent, with King Jinlun and his ministers all remaining silent.

Pei Jue was very puzzled. Finally, after the court session ended, the ministers bowed and withdrew, and then King Jinlun quickly got up and left from behind the hall.

At this moment, Pei Jue quickly flew down and landed in front of the Golden Wheel King.

The Golden Wheel King was startled and exclaimed, "Who?"

Pei Jue quickly said, "Your Majesty, please do not be alarmed. I am Pei Jue."

"Pei Jue?" The Golden Wheel King was still in a state of panic. "Who is Pei Jue?"

Pei Jue said, "Your Majesty, have you forgotten? I am the City God of Puyu City, appointed by you."

"Ah?" The Golden Wheel King finally remembered and hurriedly asked, "Are you really the City God? But weren't all your temples occupied by that Rahu Bodhisattva?"

Upon hearing the Golden Wheel King's words, Pei Jue's heart skipped a beat. Something was wrong; could it be that the Golden Wheel King was speaking like that?
Pei Jue then said, "I escaped from the city that day and sneaked back in today to come and see Your Majesty."

After saying this, Pei Jue took out the edict from the Golden Wheel King appointing him. As soon as the Golden Wheel King saw the edict, he immediately burst into tears, crying and saying to Pei Jue, "Please, City God, save my life."

Pei Jue quickly asked, "What makes Your Majesty say this?"

The Golden Wheel King said, “That Rahu Bodhisattva is a demon, and a demon from the side of the Heavenly Revelation King. I am now imprisoned here by him, barely clinging to life. If my brother, the Heavenly Revelation King, arrives, I will die without a burial place. I beg the City God to save me.”

Upon hearing this, Pei Jue immediately laughed, "Rakshasa Demon, Rakshasa Demon, you almost corrupted my Dao heart."

After saying that, Pei Jue said to King Jinlun, "Your Majesty, do not be afraid. You have bestowed upon me the favor of being a deity. I will risk my life to send you out of the city."

As soon as he finished speaking, Pei Jue grabbed the Golden Wheel King by the shoulder, lifted him up, and flew out of Puyu City in an instant.

At this moment, Luo Hou in the city also discovered Pei Jue's whereabouts. He was greatly surprised and immediately flew out of the city with his blood-red demonic cloud to block Pei Jue's way.

"Put down the Golden Wheel King." Rahu unleashed a torrent of blood-red light and overwhelming demonic energy, completely surrounding Pei Jue and the Golden Wheel King.

Pei Jue laughed heartily, pointing his spear at Luo Hou with his right hand and said, "Thank you for returning my Xuan Tie Spear. To express my gratitude, I'll let you witness the power of my 'Piercing Stars'."

After saying that, Pei Jue stepped forward with his spear, his feet moving in a magical step, holding the spear in both hands, and his body was surrounded by a serene and ethereal light.

Luo Hou was taken aback by the ever-expanding aura emanating from Pei Jue. Without being careless, he directly revealed his demonic form.

The next moment, Pei Jue transformed into a clear and fierce starlight and attacked Luo Hou. Luo Hou also gathered all his demonic power and attacked the starlight.

Suddenly, a dazzling starlight shone through the dark, demonic world, and then Rahu's demonic form collapsed and disintegrated instantly under that starlight.

The demonic form let out a series of unwilling roars before being completely annihilated under the starlight.

Pei Jue emerged from the starlight and saw Rahu, radiating Buddhist light, appear before him. Pei Jue was greatly surprised and hurriedly grabbed the Golden Wheel King, sending him away with a burst of magical power.

It turns out that Rahu was granted the title of Bodhisattva. Although his demonic form was destroyed, he did not die. Instead, he reappeared in the form of a Bodhisattva.

When Rahu appeared in the form of the 'Bodhisattva of Clean Toilet and Peace', he put his hands together, smiled, and said to Pei Jue, "Look at what's on you?"

Pei Jue immediately looked at herself and saw countless blood-red demonic energies wrapped around her body and had already penetrated her body.

"Although your divine power was powerful and destroyed my demonic form, at that moment you were already tainted by my Blood Demon Divine Art and were on the verge of death," Rahu said slowly.

Upon hearing this, Pei Jue immediately said with a cold expression, "Then I'll destroy your Bodhisattva appearance as well!"

After saying that, Pei Jue once again used 'Piercing Stars', transforming into a beam of clear starlight that shot out. However, after flying only a few dozen feet, the clear starlight was replaced by blood light.

Then, with a loud bang, Pei Jue's body, along with the starlight of Guan Xingdou, exploded into dust, turning into a cloud of blood mist in mid-air. Only the Xuan Tie spear spun and wailed in the air before finally crashing heavily into the ground.

When Luo Hou saw Pei Jue die, he looked in the direction where Jinlun Wang had left, only to see a flash of golden light and Jinlun Wang being taken away by two beams of golden light bearing the Buddhist symbol of '卍'.

Within that golden light, two figures were clearly visible. Rahu cursed, "Damn Indra and the Earth God, all you do is hide in the shadows and let others fight for you."

The Golden Wheel King was taken away by the hidden Indra and the Earth God. Rahu was furious, but it was his oversight. He thought he was carrying Pei Jue's Dao heart, so he was too lazy to kill her.

Little did he expect that his momentary smugness would lead to such serious consequences.

As long as the Golden Wheel King is alive, the power of Buddhism will not be driven out of 'Jing'e Prefecture,' which is the continent where the Heavenly Revelation Kingdom and the Golden Wheel Kingdom are located.

The more Luo Hou thought about it, the angrier he became. He immediately used his magic to try and capture Pei Jue's soul so that he could destroy her soul.

But just as he used his soul-binding technique, he discovered that Pei Jue's soul was no longer in the mortal realm.

Luo Hou was stunned for a moment, but he didn't dare to think about causing a big disturbance in the underworld. Instead, he raised his hand and unleashed a purple-black demonic flame, melting the black iron spear stuck in the ground into a pile of molten iron.

Then Luo Hou angrily returned to Puyu City. (End of Chapter)
