I am a fairy in Journey to the West

Chapter 775 Trouble Never Ends

Outside the Lishan Treasure Gate, Tieguai Li asked the dignified and beautiful woman before him, "Fairy Wuyan, is Ziyuan Jun in your residence?"

Zhong Wuyan replied, "In response to Master Li, my master recently went to Yaochi to attend the Qionghua Gathering at the request of the Queen Mother of the West."

At this point, Zhong Wuyan asked Tieguai Li curiously, "Master Li, how did you injure your nose?"

Tieguai Li said, "Oh, I tripped and fell while walking and hurt my nose, it's nothing serious."

"Huh?" Zhong Wuyan looked surprised. "You can wrestle?"

Tieguai Li said, "Is it strange that a cripple would fall down?"

"Oh, oh." Zhong Wuyan nodded blankly, then turned to Tieguai Li and said, "Master Li, you've come a long way and must be tired. How about we come in for tea?"

"No, thank you." Tieguai Li said to Zhong Wuyan, "I'm asking you, has Ziyuan Jun taken on a new disciple named Bai Suzhen?"

Zhong Wuyan asked blankly, "Huh? Master has taken on another disciple? I didn't know that."

Tieguai Li said, "It's probably a disciple he took on during this trip. You should ask your master if he knows about this."

“Alright.” Zhong Wuyan immediately took out the Heavenly Profound Jade Talisman and said, “Master Li, please wait a moment, I will ask my master right away.”

Afterwards, Zhong Wuyan walked aside, used the Heavenly Profound Jade Talisman to contact the Old Mother of Lishan, and reported the matter to his master.

After hearing Zhong Wuyan's story, the old woman of Lishan's face stiffened. Then, after calculating with her fingers, she suddenly sighed and said, "This is bad. We've inexplicably become entangled in some karmic issues."

Zhong Wuyan quickly asked, "Master, what exactly happened?"

The Old Mother of Lishan did not say it explicitly, but said to Zhong Wuyan, "Wuyan, go down to the mortal realm on my behalf and find Bai Suzhen. If possible, bring her back to Lishan Treasure Realm to cultivate."

Zhong Wuyan asked, "Master, is Bai Suzhen your disciple?"

The Old Mother of Lishan opened her mouth. To be honest, she had indeed bestowed upon Bai Suzhen the grace of granting her magic and elixirs, and had even told Bai Suzhen that she would come to Lishan to find her after she became an immortal. This clearly meant that she had already promised to take Bai Suzhen as her disciple.

To be honest, she only made a promise but never formally accepted him as a disciple, so there was no real master-disciple relationship between them.

But fate had already made its decision, and there was only one possibility: someone wanted to take advantage of Bai Suzhen, and she, because of a moment of kindness, had also gotten herself involved in the cause and effect.

"Yes." A great deity like the Old Mother of Lishan would never shirk or evade cause and effect, so she admitted it directly at this moment.

"Bai Suzhen carries a heavy burden of karma. When you go to the mortal realm to bring her back, remember to make her sever ties with the mortal world and end her worldly ties," said the Old Mother of Lishan.

The karma on Bai Suzhen's body is mostly worldly karmic obstacles. As long as Bai Suzhen severs her worldly ties and abandons the mortal world, she can cut off all karmic obstacles and naturally escape her tribulations.

"Yes, disciple understands." Zhong Wuyan bowed and accepted the order.

The Old Mother of Lishan said again, "My 'Purple Light Divine Sword' is in Pianyun Pavilion. Go and take it."

Zhong Wuyan replied, "Yes, Master."

Afterwards, Zhong Wuyan severed the Heavenly Profound Jade Talisman from the Old Mother of Lishan, first told Tieguai Li, then went back to retrieve the Purple Light Divine Sword, and then went down the mountain with Tieguai Li to Hangzhou.

Meanwhile, inside the Bao'an Hall in Qinghefang, Hangzhou, Xu Xian remained unmoved by his sister and brother-in-law's persuasion.

"Sister, brother-in-law, please don't try to persuade me anymore." Xu Xian sat upright behind the desk. "I'm not leaving."

Hearing this, Li Gongfu looked helpless. "Hanwen, I'd say you've really gone crazy from reading too much."

Xu Jiaorong also advised, "Hanwen, why don't you take your younger siblings and go out to avoid trouble?"

Xu Xian shook his head and said, "My brother-in-law has been suspended from his post by the county government. If I run away, it will definitely implicate you. I will take responsibility for my actions. I caused this trouble, and I will not leave."

"You," Li Gongfu shook his head and sighed, "you're such a bookworm."

Just then, a Taoist priest dressed in a yellow robe entered from outside: "I heard there are monsters causing trouble here? Where are these monsters?"

Upon hearing this, Xu Xian grabbed an inkstone and threw it at the yellow-robed Taoist priest, yelling, "You're the monster! Get out of here!"

Li Gongfu stepped forward, drew his sword, and slashed, cursing, "Where did this stinking Taoist come from? He really doesn't know what's good for him."

The Taoist priest, holding a peach wood sword in his right hand and a talisman in his left, dodged the inkstone thrown by Xu Xian and then Li Gongfu's broadsword, and shouted sternly, "I have been summoned by the King of Wu to subdue demons. What do you want?"

With a 'bang,' Li Gongfu kicked out, hitting the Taoist priest squarely in the stomach. 'What are you doing? I'll beat you to death, you stinking Taoist priest!'

The Taoist priest cried out "Ouch!" and ran back a few steps, clutching his stomach. He turned around and shouted at Li Gongfu, "This time, I only brought my demon-slaying artifacts, not my weapons. You just wait!"

After saying that, the Taoist priest turned and ran. At that moment, a cyan fairy figure flew in front of the Taoist priest, holding the Azure Cloud Sword, and slashed at the Taoist priest, saying, "Die!"

"Young lady!" Li Gongfu cried out, "Don't kill anyone!"

However, before Xiaoqing's Azure Cloud Sword could strike the Taoist priest, the priest threw out a talisman, which struck Xiaoqing and burst into flames.

Xiaoqing cried out in pain as her right arm was charred black. Then, the Taoist priest leaped forward and thrust his peach wood sword directly into Xiaoqing's shoulder.

"Haha, you monster! I may not be able to beat a mortal, but I can certainly beat a monster like you!" the Taoist priest laughed.

Xiaoqing's expression hardened, and she grabbed the peach wood sword with her left hand while thrusting the Biyun sword in her right hand straight at the Taoist's brow.

The Taoist priest used his magic to flick his finger, directly deflecting the Azure Cloud Sword. Then, he stepped on Xiao Qing and shouted, "Hand over the four treasures of the Wu Prince's Mansion, and I may spare your life."

Upon hearing this, Xiaoqing immediately threw out the Fiery Divine Pearl. The Taoist's eyes lit up, and he hurriedly reached out to grab it.

The Fiery Divine Pearl released a burst of fire, which shattered the Taoist's entire left arm.

"Ah!" the Taoist priest cried out in pain, hurriedly abandoned the peach wood sword, leaped back, and fled.

Li Gongfu rushed forward, but instead of chasing after the Taoist priest, he helped Xiaoqing up from the ground.

Xiaoqing put away the Fiery Divine Pearl, but found Li Gongfu looking at her with a surprised and uncertain expression. Xiaoqing asked, "Master Li, what are you looking at?"

Li Gongfu said, "Miss Qing, the way you fought just now is not like that of an ordinary person."

Xiaoqing said, "Master Li, are you trying to say that I am a monster?"

Li Gongfu laughed and said, "Even if it's a monster, it's a good monster."

Xiaoqing felt a warmth in her heart upon hearing this. At that moment, Xu Xian stepped forward with the medicine powder and said to Xiaoqing, "Xiaoqing, come here quickly, I'll apply the medicine for you."

Xiaoqing nodded and sat down to the side, while Xu Xian sprinkled the medicinal powder on her shoulder.

"Bear with it," Xu Xian said. "The elixir that Master Li taught us is very useful."

Xiaoqing gasped in pain the moment the powder was sprinkled, but the pain disappeared in just ten breaths, replaced by a cool and comfortable feeling, and her wound slowly healed.

“These past few days, I have used all the medicinal herbs in the shop to make this Golden Wound Powder according to Master Li’s Golden Wound Powder formula. In the future, if you and your sister are injured, I will treat your wounds,” Xu Xian said.

Upon hearing this, Xiaoqing felt a surge of guilt. "Master Xu, it's all my fault for dragging you into this. If I hadn't gone to steal the treasure and killed Li Lian..."

"Why are you saying all this?" Xu Xian interrupted Xiao Qing. "We're all family. What does it mean to be family? It means we'll weather any storm together."

Xiaoqing's eyes welled up with tears, her heart warmed, but she couldn't say a word. She could only lower her head and try her best not to let the tears fall.

"Amitabha." Suddenly, a Buddhist chant rang out outside Baoan Hall.

Xu Xian had just put away the medicine bottle when he heard the Buddhist chant and turned around sharply. It was the old monk who had visited him not long ago.

“Benefactor Xu, haven’t you thought this through yet?” Fahai looked at Xu Xian and said, “Bai Suzhen and Xiaoqing are both snake demons. You should have realized that these past few days. They are definitely not mortals.” Xu Xian rolled up his sleeves and rushed forward, cursing, grabbing Fahai’s collar and saying, “Bald monk, if you dare to say another bad word about my wife and Xiaoqing, don’t blame me for being impolite.”

Fahai glared, and instantly a surge of magical power erupted, sending Xu Xian flying.

Li Gongfu quickly stepped forward to catch Xu Xian, then drew his sword and slashed at Fahai, shouting, "You old bald monk, what are your intentions in repeatedly sowing discord between my brother and sister-in-law?"

Fahai swung his staff, shattering the broadsword in Li Gongfu's hand. Then, with a palm strike, he sent Li Gongfu staggering backward.

Seeing this, Xiaoqing immediately summoned the Fiery Divine Pearl and struck Fahai on the head, clearly intending to kill him.

But then Fahai formed a mudra with his hands, and a beam of Buddhist light shone from his body, instantly suppressing the Fiery Divine Pearl. Then he raised his staff and smashed it down on Xiaoqing's head.

At this moment, a sword light flew over and caught the monk's staff. Then, Bai Suzhen, holding the realgar sword, used her sword energy to shake back the monk's staff. Bai Suzhen then stepped forward with her sword and began to fight with Fahai.

Fahai was no match for Bai Suzhen for a moment, and could only use his staff to catch Bai Suzhen's attack, while throwing the alms bowl at Bai Suzhen's head with his left hand.

The bowl of Buddha light instantly emanated from it and enveloped Bai Suzhen, who was immediately suppressed by the Buddha light.

Upon seeing this, Fahai's eyes sharpened, and he raised his staff, saying, "Bai Suzhen, why don't you submit to the law!" With that, he slammed his staff down towards Bai Suzhen.

"Bald monk, stop hurting my wife!" Xu Xian roared and charged forward, but Xiao Qing was even faster than him.

However, none of them were as fast as Fahai's staff. Just as Fahai's staff was about to strike Bai Suzhen's head, a hand reached out and grabbed Fahai's staff.

Fahai looked closely and realized it was the person he didn't know well, but who made him feel disgusted as soon as he saw him.

"Hmph!" Fahai snorted coldly, unconsciously using all his strength to kill the person in front of him.

However, when Zhuang Yan grabbed the staff, he couldn't move it at all. Instead, Zhuang Yan gave it a gentle push, and the staff hit Fahai on the head. In an instant, Fahai screamed and a large bump appeared on his head.

“You monk have quite the murderous intent.” Zhuang Yan said, raising his hand to take the alms bowl that was radiating Buddhist light into his hand, and then crushing it to pieces in front of Fahai.

Fahai was furious: "That's the alms I collected from begging!"

Zhuang Yan said, "Begging is begging, what do you mean by begging for alms? Here, take this."

As soon as Zhuang Yan finished speaking, a porcelain bowl with a chipped corner flew to Fahai's eyes. Fahai looked at it and realized that the bowl was exactly the same as the bowl of a beggar on the street.

"How dare you humiliate this humble monk like this!" Fahai was even more enraged. Despite the excruciating pain from the large bump on his head, he was about to fight Zhuang Yan to the death, but at this moment, another hand reached out and pinned him down.

Fahai turned around angrily, but when he saw who had stopped him, his anger subsided instantly. "Master?"

The Buddha looked at Fahai and said, "Your worldly afflictions are too heavy. Go back and cultivate yourself properly. Don't meddle in this matter anymore."

Upon hearing this, Fahai said, "I cannot agree with what you say, Master. Bai Suzhen, being a demon, has married a mortal, which violates the laws of heaven and disrupts the order of the human world. As a Buddhist disciple, I should uphold the laws and order of heaven."

"Well said." Buddha nodded with satisfaction, then asked, "But can you defeat him?"

Fahai pointed at Zhuang Yan and said, "If he doesn't intervene, these two demons, Qing and Bai, are no match for this humble monk."

The Buddha laughed and said, "Since you are no match for them for the time being, why don't you go back and cultivate diligently, and then come back to subdue the demon when you are more confident?"

Fahai said, "Maintaining the order of the Heavenly Laws is of utmost urgency!"

The Buddha stopped trying to persuade him, and simply patted Fahai on the shoulder, saying, "Then go ahead." He then took a step back.

Without saying a word, Fahai, holding his staff, charged straight at Zhuang Yan. Zhuang Yan didn't even look at him; he simply blew a breath, and Fahai flew away, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

"Oh dear!" Li Gongfu exclaimed upon seeing this, "Zhuang Bo, you have this ability? Are you a monster too?"

Xu Jiaorong slapped Li Gongfu on the back of the head. "What the hell? How can you talk to your elders like that?"

Li Gongfu realized what was happening, scratched his head and chuckled, then looked at Zhuang Yan and said, "Uncle Zhuang, are you some kind of immortal?"

Zhuang Yan smiled without answering, but simply raised his hand and flipped it over. A flash of immortal light appeared in his palm, and a long sword immediately appeared in Zhuang Yan's hand. "I saw that your sword was broken by that monk, so I'll give you this 'Chaos Sword'."

"The Chaos Sword?" Li Gongfu stared in astonishment at the divine sword gleaming before him. "Uncle Zhuang, why is the name of this sword so strange?"

Zhuang Yan said, "You'll find out later. Take it."

Li Gongfu did not take it, but asked, "Uncle Zhuang, this sword is very valuable, isn't it? It even has a precious glow on it."

Zhuang Yan handed it directly to Li Gongfu, saying, "It's worthless, take it and use it."

Li Gongfu was taken aback for a moment, then chuckled and said, "Since you say so, Uncle Zhuang, then I'll accept it. Thank you, Uncle Zhuang."

Meanwhile, below the main hall of Jinshan Temple, all the monks, young and old, of Jinshan Temple had gathered.

They looked up at the plaque in the main hall, their faces filled with horror, for the plaque bore the image of a person—none other than Fahai.

"Zen Master Fahai!"

"Hey, why did he hang the plaque up there?"

"I don't know. A strong gust of wind blew by just now, and when I looked up, I saw that Zen Master Fahai had already hung up."

"No way? How could someone as robust as Zen Master Fahai be blown up by the wind?"

At this moment, the abbot of Jinshan Temple rushed over. He was stunned when he saw this scene. After regaining his senses, he quickly said, "Brother Fahai, come down quickly. This is the plaque of the Mahavira Hall. You must not be rude."

Fahai was still in a daze until he heard the abbot speak, at which point he came to his senses and quickly used his magic to fall off the plaque.

"Brother Fahai, what's wrong with you?" the abbot asked as he stepped forward.

Fahai thought for a moment, then put his palms together and said, “Abbot, I originally intended to subdue the two demons, Qing and Bai, but I did not expect them to hire an extremely powerful helper. It was this person who caused me to be hung on the plaque just now.”

"Oh." The abbot nodded, then said to Fahai, "Junior brother, I think you'd better not get involved in this matter."

"Why?" Fahai said, "As disciples of Buddhism, how can we sit idly by and watch demons wreak havoc on the world?"

The abbot looked at Fahai and said, "Junior brother, the matter of the two demons, Qing and Bai, has caused such a big commotion, yet none of the major or minor temples in Hangzhou have made any response. Why are you in such a hurry?"

Fahai got angry when he talked about it: "These heavenly gods eat their salaries but do nothing. They do nothing when monsters are causing trouble right under their noses. They are truly unworthy of being heavenly officials."

The abbot stared intently at Fahai, then asked, "Do you know what 'waiting for a rabbit to run into a tree stump' means?"

Fahai said, "Of course I know. Why did you suddenly ask this, Abbot?"

The abbot asked, "Why did the rabbit die?"

Fahai said, "Because that rabbit walks in a straight line and doesn't turn, of course it will crash into a tree and die."

The abbot's eyes gleamed with wisdom as he said earnestly, "Do you understand now? A rabbit that doesn't turn will crash into a tree and die, and so will a person. At any time, you must learn to turn."

Fahai asked doubtfully, "Abbot, I have magical powers; I can smash that tree to pieces!"

The abbot looked utterly devastated and said with great distress, "I was just using a metaphor!"

Fahai said, "Brother, your analogy is inappropriate."

The abbot nearly choked on his breath, and after a long while, he pointed indignantly at the plaque above and said, "You should just hang it up!" (End of Chapter)
