The Wizard's Secret Journey
Chapter 261 Review
Chapter 261 Review
The bright crystals glowed faintly in the workshop.
The dark color of the pale stone wall in the picture has finally lessened somewhat.
Lynn immediately moved closer to observe carefully, while simultaneously preparing to flee at any moment.
The weakening of the gray winds may not necessarily be a good thing.
These past few days he's been observing the entire workshop, trying to dig deeper into the underground through a broken floor, even though it's a dead end, he thinks he can still dig further down.
However, blindly digging down into the Graywood Ruins was not a wise choice. There was a gray wind outside, and who knew if there was something like black mud underground? So Lynn did not take any action.
But if the gray wind continues to sink, then Lynn can't care about anything else.
In any world, the wait between hope and despair is always the most agonizing.
Lynn floated silently, and after an unknown amount of time, he suddenly realized that the gray wind outside had completely disappeared.
The stone wall revealed a long-unseen night sky, with countless stars shining brightly and the sky clear and flawless.
After a moment of contemplation, Lynn suppressed his excitement, left the black, rotten monster in place, and cast a concealment spell on it. Then he retreated to the broken part of the workshop floor and activated the stone wall!
The image of the night sky disappeared, and a hole gradually opened in the middle of the stone wall, quickly becoming large enough for the dark, decaying monster to pass through.
A breath of fresh air silently rushed in, carrying the slight coolness unique to the night.
The dark, rotten monster, which had been concealing its form, emerged to probe the surroundings. Lynn, on the other hand, cautiously closed the stone wall again and observed the outside world through the monitoring function.
After a moment, Lynn felt somewhat relieved after observing that there was no movement outside.
Although Lynn couldn't pinpoint the exact location of the Black Rotten Monster due to its concealment magic and the isolation provided by the stone wall, he had ordered them to circle the area within a kilometer radius. If any danger was encountered, something should happen.
But now things are calm, so there's probably no problem.
Lynn dared not miss this good opportunity; who knew if the gray wind would come again later?
He flew quickly toward the stone wall, but at that moment, the image displayed on the stone wall changed again.
High in the distant sky, the silhouette of the Silver Ring Fortress slowly emerged, obscuring the stars. A few tiny black specks, like lice and flies, fell from its surface.
'That's... Silver Ring Academy's flying shuttle?' Lynn was taken aback, but his movements didn't stop at all; instead, they became even faster.
He approached the stone wall and opened it, but instead of rushing through, he proceeded according to plan and completely destroyed the Black Moon runes within.
The stone wall suddenly darkened, and the central portal no longer closed.
After doing all this, the dark, rotten monster returned to Lynn's side.
Lynn merely glanced at it, and the latter immediately disintegrated on its own, leaving only the core Black Moon rune and some materials.
Lynn took out the outer shell of the witchcraft tools he had made over the past few days, placed the puppet runes inside, put away the materials, and then leisurely left the workshop.
Upon seeing the Silver Ring Academy's shuttle, Lynn was no longer in such a hurry. His strategy shifted from prioritizing escaping as quickly as possible to prioritizing covering up past traces.
As Lynn drifted out of the workshop, a deathly stillness enveloped him instantly.
This deathly silence was a thousand times greater than the stillness he had felt deep within the workshop.
There was no wind, no insect chirping, no rotting monsters or strange spirits, not even the slightest sound.
It's like stepping into the universe, where there's only a chilling vacuum.
Lynn looked down and saw an incredibly smooth, gray-white surface beneath his feet.
The entire land seemed to have been scraped by the sharpest scraper millions of times, eventually smoothing out all the edges and ravines.
This grayish-white expanse stretched outwards to the horizon, while inwards it was shrouded in mist from the core area of the Gray Forest Ruins, resembling a giant, circular mirror. Lynn wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt the mist enveloping the core area of the Gray Forest Ruins seemed to have thinned out and shrunk in size.
Just as Lynn was stunned by what he saw, the hum of a flying shuttle gradually reached his ears.
He looked up and saw a shuttle from Silver Ring Fortress heading towards him.
Lynn pulled out the Silver Ring Academy badge.
The next second, the shuttle's hatch slowly opened.
……
……
"So you've been hiding down here all this time, and you've survived until now?"
Inside the airship, an elderly wizard with white hair looked out the porthole and pointed to the exposed entrance to the workshop below, asking a question.
“Yes, Your Excellency Seles.” Lynn nodded.
Selse carefully marked it on the map and waved to Lynn.
"I have asked all the questions that needed to be asked. You may go to the cabin at the back to rest."
“Okay.” Lynn nodded, then asked after a moment of silence,
"Sir Seles, does this mean my review is complete?"
Without even looking up, Seles said calmly, "The checks in the Third Ring area aren't strict. You just need to wait until you return to Silver Ring Fortress for a final check, and then you'll be free."
“I understand.” Lynn turned and left the driver’s seat.
A first-tier wizard approached him:
"Your room is 011. For the next while, please try to stay in your room or the central rest area. Please do not linger in the corridors. If you need to go to other areas, please apply in advance to avoid any unnecessary trouble."
"Hmm." Lynn forced a smile.
He had assumed that these shuttles from Silver Ring Fortress were there to rescue them, the surviving wizards.
These shuttles did indeed operate under the guise of rescue, but in reality, they did more censorship.
After Lynn boarded the shuttle, he was taken to the cockpit to be questioned by the second-tier wizard, Selse.
Although Selth gave a reason, saying that the Graywind was too strange, the Silver Ring Wizards stipulated that all wizards who survived in the Graywood Ruins must be examined before they could be freed.
But the truth is, Seles was more interested in whether he had gained anything from the Graywood Ruins.
If it weren't for the fact that Lynn Hosens was a wizard from the Silver Ring Academy, he probably would have demanded a thorough search of Lynn's storage ring.
Lynn wasn't sure whether this was Silver Ring Academy's intention or Seles's personal action, but it didn't change the fact that his impression of Silver Ring Academy had dropped even further.
'I wonder what kind of situation I'll encounter when I get to Silver Ring Fortress...' Lynn sighed inwardly, but there was nothing he could do.
Above him was the Silver Ring Fortress, and shuttles like the one beneath his feet were everywhere. Even if he had chosen to flee before the shuttles arrived, it would have been difficult for him to escape.
Not to mention that Lynn didn't even have that idea in mind.
After all, where would he go if he left Silver Ring Academy?
'Leaving Silver Ring Academy…' Lynn paused slightly in his steps.
The moment the idea appeared in his mind, it suddenly swelled up.
'Perhaps I should seriously consider this…'
