Chapter 199: The True Explanation of Gentu

Chapter 199: The True Explanation of Gentu

Among Lei Feng's many disciples, there are no more than ten who have practiced Taoism for forty or fifty years.

With forty or fifty years of Taoist practice and a young and strong body, most old Taoist priests are no match for Tian Buli.

When the others looked at Tian Buli again, they instantly felt that the strength of this young Taoist priest was terrifying.

Among all the second generation disciples of Leifeng, perhaps only the eldest brother Xiangtian can compete with him.

"Brother, you are too kind. This time, Master ordered me to come here to pay respect to the headmaster and go down the mountain with the other brothers to pray for rain, just to make up the number of people."

Xiangtian turned around and said, "Follow me."

Tian Buli followed Xiangtian into the hall.

There is a statue in the temple, a giant statue of the god of thunder.

There are very few places where people worship the Thunder God. It can be said that this worship is unique to the Leifeng lineage of Yanxia Mountain.

Yunfa does not have a righteous god to worship, and the other three sects are under the jurisdiction of the Thunder God. In addition, it was also established by the ancestor Leiming when it was first established.

Even if Tian Buli is a highly skilled Taoist, unless he goes out and forms his own sect, thunder is the most important thing in Yanxia Mountain.

Enter from the main hall, go to the side courtyard at the back, and walk about a hundred steps to the hut where Yu Leizi rests and meditates.

Tian Buli suddenly felt very tired. Although the distance was only about a hundred steps, compared with his master Taoist Liuyun, it was the difference between being comfortable and uncomfortable.

My master lives in a room on the top of a mountain. He usually only has two meals a day and eats and drinks in the room. He only takes a bath occasionally for convenience.

Practice, read, think, or sleep, and guide disciples.

There are many rules when there are many people. There are still so many things to do when practicing in the mountains. No wonder you haven’t ascended.

Currently in Yanxia Mountain, the one who is closest to ascending to heaven is Taoist Liuyun who is in the tribulation period. The others are not yet at the stage of spiritual practice.

With many things in mind, Tian Buli bowed respectfully after entering the room, "Disciple Tian Buli, I pay my respects to the Master!"

Yu Leizi looked at Tian Buli and asked, "Why are you here?"

Tian Buli said politely, "Master, my master ordered me to come and pay my respects to you, thinking that I could make up the number of people when we go down the mountain with you."

Yu Leizi asked, "Have you memorized the Taoist scriptures?"

Tian Buli replied, "I have memorized it and can write the whole text."

Yu Leizi asked again, "Can it attract thunder?"

"Yes." Tian Buli replied, "Years ago, I worked with Taoist priests Fufeng and Fuyun at the foot of the mountain to exorcise the plague. At that time, the two Taoist priests killed the evil spirits. After I arrived, I used thunder magic to disperse the evil spirits in the village. Later, I learned the Hundred Herbal Classics from the two Taoist priests, boiled medicine to treat the local people, and then came back to practice hard."

Yu Leizi nodded, "Okay, I already know about this. There are eight books on the table in my hall, divided into eight trigrams. You pick up the book of Genwei and read it. Learn what to do. Don't take the book out of the hall. Read it carefully before leaving."

Tian Buli said respectfully: "Disciple obeys your command!"

Yu Leizi continued to meditate and practice, "Go down."

Tian Buli and Senior Brother Xiangtian carefully left the house and asked about the details only after they were far away.

"Big Brother, what are the eight books in the hall?"

Xiangtian didn't seem to like Tian Buli very much, and said perfunctorily: "It is the eight regular lessons. It records what each position should do. Normally, disciples learn one lesson, and those with better aptitude can learn more."

Tian Buli nodded, but because he didn't want to compare himself with others, he didn't ask any further questions.

Xiangtian felt even more uncomfortable. As the eldest brother, he had already learned eight techniques, while the other brothers had only learned six at most.

Because he didn't have a good impression of this junior fellow apprentice, after arriving at the main hall, Xiangtian directly gave orders to a Taoist priest who was cleaning.

"Lei Qing, you stay here and watch. Don't let Junior Brother Tian take the scriptures out of the hall."

Lei Qing was a young man in his twenties. He glanced at Tian Buli after hearing this and said, "Yes! Senior Brother!"

Tian Buli just smiled, quickly picked up a yellow booklet according to the direction, then sat on a mat beside him and began to read.

The "True Explanation of Gen Tu" begins by introducing the properties and telling some necessary things.

There are rules for each of the eight gossips.

Gen represents earth in the five elements, and its only color is yellow.

The sky is cloudy, foggy and mountain mist, and the direction is northeast.

Suitable for boys and children to host.

Thunder is a shock, and it is usually hosted by an older man, mainly middle-aged men.

Tian Buli wrote down all kinds of detailed information about this attribute, from the stars, animals, house colors and layouts, travel, time, numbers, to various diseases and plant cultivation, medicinal properties and so on.

These seemingly messy things, if used properly, can form many familiar things.

For example, Feng Shui.

A more advanced one is fortune-telling.

Fortune-telling is not an open-book exam. Fortune-telling in a book tells you all the correct answers, and then it depends on what you think of.

Whether it is accurate or not, the answer is all above, it depends on how you say it.

It's like being given numbers from 1 to 10, as well as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, various decimal points and numerical symbols, and then being able to solve all math problems.

The eight books tell you the theoretically accurate answers, and then there is a number that can theoretically be used for all the answers, but the reality is not that simple.

I recognize the numbers and can mostly call out the symbols, but this has nothing to do with getting full marks.

If you don’t have enough experience, your calculations will not be accurate.

Tian Buli also knew that his current level of Taoism was not enough, so he just wrote it down and didn't think about telling fortunes or doing feng shui for anyone.

I quickly memorized the standing positions and clothes I wore when praying for rain, the order of entry, and the mantras I chanted when performing rituals.

The book only uses two pages to explain the precautions for praying for rain in the Gen position, and then continues to explain some miscellaneous information.

Marriage, naming, burial time, personality, who to be kind to and who to stay away from...

Tian Buli finally understood what miscellaneous Taoism meant. He had learned too many things and they were too messy. There was no attacking Taoism in Gentu Zhenjie. Even the spells and Taoist magic for praying for rain needed someone to cooperate with them. Otherwise, it would be just chanting scriptures and nothing would happen.

This book is indeed of textbook quality. It explains things in great detail, but the topics are basically unrelated to each other.

Most monks, especially young monks, prefer spells that are effective, such as flying spells and thunder spells.

I was very interested in learning these, but I didn't seem to be interested when studying scriptures such as the Eight Gates of Truth and Taoist Scriptures.

Even in a safe environment, the pursuit of violence has never subsided. It is an innate instinct.

Tian Buli already understood the importance of foundation and Taoism, and was very clear that powerful Taoism must be adapted to advanced Taoism.

In addition to cultivation, various knowledge and principles are also supplementary to Taoism.

Only when the roots are deep can a tree grow into a towering one.

Xiangtian had left a long time ago, and the Eight Gates Books in the palace only had a high status, but they were not actually profound secret books.

It’s actually not too difficult to learn, but Master Yu Leizi is the one who has the right to decide who learns what.

Tian Buli was still reading "The True Explanation of Gen Tu" at night. He had only been reading this book and was reading very slowly.

The Taoist priest who was cleaning nearby dozed off and soon felt hungry.

Lei Qing saw that Tian Buli was still here, so he asked, "Brother, aren't you going back?"

Tian Buli was watching intently, and when he came to his senses, he said, "I'll watch for a while, you close the door and go downstairs to rest."

Lei Qing knew that this was someone from Liuyun Peak, so he readily agreed.

"Then I'm going to rest. Brother, you should also rest early."

Soon Lei Qing locked the door and went back to eat and sleep.

Tian Buli finished reading the first book in the late night. He stood up and respectfully put it back to its place.

"Grandmaster, I, the disciple of Liuyun Peak of Yanxia Mountain, Tian Buli, have returned the "True Explanation of Gentu" to its original place. Now I am borrowing the two books of Fenglei."

Tian Buli waited for a minute, and after making sure that everything was alright, he picked up the Book of Thunder and sat down to read it.

Because of the experience of reading the first book, it was much easier to understand the second book, especially since Yanxia Gong was created by Master Leiming, and the introduction to thunder magic in it was more detailed.

After spending four or five hours reading the Book of Thunder, Tian Buli started to read "The True Explanation of Xunfeng".

There are also no powerful magic spells to be taught in Xunfeng Zhenjie, and it only talks about some random trivial matters.

Tian Buli had a vague sense of what was going on from the wind's position, time of rise, the animal it represented, and various supplements to the attribute of wind, but due to his lack of experience, he was unable to comprehend it.

Yu Leizi did not come to the main hall to preach every day. During normal practice, his eldest brother Xiangtian would teach on his behalf.

The door of the main hall was opened by a Taoist priest who got up early. Lei Qing opened the door and saw Tian Buli still reading, so he turned around and left.

"Junior brother." Tian Buli called Lei Qing and smiled when Lei Qing looked at him, "It's time to change the candles in the hall."

Lei Qing looked at the burnt oil lamps and candles and said, "Okay, I'll go to the storeroom and get some candles."

Tian Buli nodded and lowered his head to continue reading.

Lei Qing walked out of the hall and took a few steps in the corridor before he could not help cursing, "What the hell, you only know how to order your Taoist master around!"

Lei Qing also knew that Tian Buli was a murderer, so even though he cursed him, he still went to get a candle to replace it.

This is his job. Even if Tian Buli does not stay overnight in the hall, the lights in the hall must be on.

Soon, things started to get lively outside.

Some Taoists were practicing martial arts, some were cleaning, and some were chatting and laughing.

When I wake up in the morning, I first recite the scriptures, then go to the canteen to eat. After I come back, the eldest brother will teach me the Taoist scriptures.

The main hall is here, and it is far away from where the other Taoists live, so they don't usually come here for a stroll.

Usually when it gets busy, it's time for class.

Taoist priests such as Hongyin and Weiming arrived one after another within five minutes.

The Taoist priest who came in first saw Tian Buli here and did not say anything. The rest of the people who came in also remained quiet.

Not long after, the eldest senior brother Xiangtian arrived. Xiangtian looked at Tian Buli, who was sitting at the end, and asked, "Junior brother Tian, why are you still here?"

The others all looked towards Tian Buli.

Tian Buli replied, "Big Brother, the headmaster said that I can study in this hall during this period of time."

Xiangtian was a little unhappy, but he didn't know what to say.

"Then study hard." Xiangtian ignored Tian Buli and said to the others, "Start the morning reading. No whispering is allowed. It will delay your lessons!"

After saying that, Xiangtian sat on the cushion where Yu Leizi had sat before, supervising dozens of Taoists.

These Taoists ranged from the youngest in their teens to the oldest in their fifties and sixties. After Xiangtian sat down, they all quickly began to recite Taoist texts.

Weiming next to him could hold the book and read because he started late, while the others had to recite it.

Some were reciting the Yanxia Gong, some were reciting the Taoist scriptures, and some were reciting the True Interpretation of the Thunder Department.

Seeing that everyone else was reciting the text honestly, and even Tian Buli was quietly reciting the Yanxia Gong, the eldest brother Xiangtian also started to busy himself with his own homework, reciting the Thunder Sutra.

The Thunder Sutra is a profound thunder method taught by Yu Lei Zi to several inner disciples. Only three people know it, and one of them is Xiangtian.

Tian Buli had no books to read, but his memory and comprehension were very good.

When he usually fights with others, he can copy various martial arts and mental methods by watching other people's moves. At this time, he already has a certain level of Taoism, and he is surrounded by fellow disciples who have practiced Yanxia Gong.

Amid the noise, Tian Buli quickly listened to the voices of his eldest, second, and third senior brothers.

The three people recited at different paces, some fast and some slow. Tian Buli listened patiently for more than an hour and quickly memorized and integrated a Thunder Sutra.
