Chapter 452 The Prelude to Gundar's Blade

Chapter 452 The Prelude to Gundar's Blade

A chilling wind swept in from all directions, its biting cold feeling like countless steel needles piercing into the bone marrow.

Mil was surrounded by darkness; the dizziness from the teleportation had not completely subsided.

All he remembered was that after Peiya activated the teleportation, everything went black and he knew nothing more. To be honest, this was his first time experiencing teleportation, and it felt even more uncomfortable than sitting on a ship with raging waves.

"Pooh!"

He struggled to his feet, greedily inhaling the icy air, his teeth chattering uncontrollably.

"Senior sister, where have we been teleported to?" Mir stood up and looked around. All around was a desolate white wasteland and howling blizzards. She said somewhat uneasily, "Why do I feel like the mountain beneath my feet is moving?"

"Be content, kid!" Peya's massive metallic body was clumsily wriggling in the snowdrift, trying to climb up. Cold blood flowed down her joints, hissing and steaming. "It's already a blessing from Lady Luck that I didn't embed you in granite as a fossil or throw you into a volcano for a bath! Don't just stand there, pull me up! This ice is terribly slippery!"

After waiting for a while without receiving a response, Peiya looked up and saw Mir staring blankly into the distance, her voice filled with bitterness: "Senior sister, where did you teleport us to? Is this still Debe?"

The gale, carrying ice particles, struck the frost giant's rocky skin like countless tiny blades, leaving only fleeting white marks.

Nine hundred frost giants, like moving mountains, advanced silently and swiftly through an unprecedented blizzard in the heart of Debe.

With each stomp of their enormous feet, the earth, covered in thick snow, groaned and left deep craters, which were then quickly filled by the swirling snowflakes.

While these creatures cannot drastically alter the weather, the small areas they traverse are often ravaged by blizzards that blot out the sky.

This can be considered as concealing their presence to some extent.

Mill stood on a small hill and watched as the enormous creatures silently emerged from the snowstorm. It turned out that it wasn't the hill that was moving, but rather that every step these creatures took caused the earth to tremble.

These mythical frost giants are colossal creatures, all over ten meters tall, striding with steps that seem to crack the earth, like a white torrent sweeping across the heavens and earth, crashing into view.

Their bodies are covered with muscles as hard as ice and rock, and their skin is a deep ice blue. Every step they take causes a small earthquake, and the snow waves they kick up are tens of meters high.

The two were somewhat desperate; they had just escaped one wolf's den only to fall into another.

These frost giants are even more difficult to deal with than the Lich King from before.

"What should we do about Senior Sister?" Mir asked.

"Wash your neck clean." Peiya finally stood up.

"What?"

"Just wait for them to come and chop off your head!" Peiya rolled her eyes and said with exasperation, "What are you standing there for? Run!"

Just then, in the distant sky, in the direction of Gonda City, a pale beam of light pierced through the gloomy snow clouds without warning and shot straight into the sky.

The light carried a chilling aura and an ominous deathly wave, instantly sending a shiver down the spines of all those with keen senses, even from such a distance.

“That is…” Mil’s pupils suddenly contracted.

“It’s that Lich King! That idiot must have put a tracking spell on us.” Peya cursed, “It’s such a short distance, a legend can get there in no time at all.”

Although both were alchemists, they were specialists in their respective fields and did not know much about magic, so even if they did, they would not be able to dispel the magic on them.

"Damn it, am I, the genius Peiya, going to be defeated here today? The heavens are truly jealous of talent!"

Pursuers were behind them, and bandits were robbing them from the front.

The teleportation array required time and alchemical materials, and she was completely at a loss.

Mir and Peya's hearts pounded like war drums, their chests pounding with heavy despair.

The frost giants, their massive army blotting out the sky, shook the earth with every step, whipping up a blizzard that froze the soul. The legendary Lich King Ubigail was probably approaching at the same speed, tearing through the snowstorm.

"It's over, it's over, it's over..." Peiya's metal joints made a soft clicking sound as she kept saying dejected words.

In his desperate situation, Mir's fighting spirit flared up. He grabbed the adamantite longsword, and despite the doubt that this toothpick-like sword could do much damage to the frost giant, he held it tightly in his hand.

"We're going to die anyway, Senior Sister, let's fight!"

Peya watched Mir's resolute retreating figure, a complex light flashing in her bull-like eyes, but it was quickly overshadowed by greater terror: "What the hell are we fighting for! That's a frost giant! And there's the Lich King behind him! We wouldn't even be enough to fill a gap between their teeth!"

In this suffocating moment of despair—

Above the Frost Giants, a black figure swept across the night sky like a shooting star tearing through the night.

Li Wei remained as steady as a rock even at high speed.

His gaze was as sharp as an eagle's, piercing through the wind and snow, and firmly locking onto the two tiny yet incredibly familiar figures on the hill.

Mir and the alchemist Peya who lusted after him.

My heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled completely the moment I saw Mir's complete figure.

"Mir, Peya." Levi's voice wasn't loud, but it was like a dragon's roar that pierced the soul, instantly drowning out the howling of the wind and snow, and clearly reaching the ears of the two people on the small hill.

That familiar voice carried an undeniable authority and a hint of concern.

Wait... is this?
Mil's arm, which was holding the longsword high, froze in mid-air, and the resolute look on his face solidified.

Could it be that?
He looked up sharply, following the sound, and saw a familiar figure standing proudly on the back of a dragon above the Frost Giant Legion. His golden robe fluttered in the wind, and his eyes, sharp as lightning, were looking at them through the snow and wind.

The blankness on his face then turned into unbelievable ecstasy.

"Brother-in-law?!"

"What happened?" Li Wei jumped from the dragon's back onto the hill and looked at the two extremely disheveled people.

He had sensed an elemental fluctuation here earlier, which was why he urged the frost giants to hurry over. He didn't expect it to be just Mir and his companion.

Without thinking, Peya immediately grabbed the lord's hand and tearfully recounted her ordeal: "Livi, help! There's an old and ugly lich chasing us from Gonda, trying to kill me and Mir."

Roar!
As if to prove it, a dragon's roar, filled with endless resentment and rage, tore through the wind and snow, rolling in from the direction of Gonda City. The sound was not the roar of flesh and blood, but a terrifying sonic wave formed by the grinding of countless bones and the shrieking of souls, carrying a deathly pressure that froze the soul.

“Obi-Slachi!” Levi sneered. “He’s even bringing an undead dragon with him. With such a grand display, it seems a lot has happened in Gonda while I was away.”

The Lich King would transform dead dragons into undead dragons, which almost became their exclusive mounts, with the coolness limited to dragon riders.

"Should Mir and I avoid this place?" Peiya asked cautiously.

She knew that the lord of High Cliff Fortress was a legendary dragon knight, but she didn't know exactly how strong he was.

But if they run into the Lich King later, it will definitely be a fierce and evenly matched battle.

This level of battle was far beyond what she and Mir, mere nobodys, could get involved in. Even the aftershocks could affect them, so it was only natural that she wanted to clear a space for the two of them to fight to the death.

Don't be fooled by the fact that she kicked the Lich King away with one hoof; that was because it was a surprise attack and the opponent was caught off guard and allowed her to get close.

Every Lich King is a legendary mage with vast knowledge, and knows countless forbidden spells.

Once they unleash their magic, that's what you call world-destroying.

"That's making a mountain out of a molehill." Li Wei shook his head dismissively. "Why would I need to get involved with such a minor character?"

"My lord, since you're unwilling to take action, then leave it to me." The frost giant leader, Lagras, tilted his head slightly, two plumes of white mist billowing from his enormous nostrils: "This stench of death, I can smell it from this far away, it's truly disgusting!"

Its voice carried a disgust that came from its very blood.

All intelligent life forms are inherently averse to the undead, these living dead.

And most importantly, the Titan Diamond is believed to be on these undead, which infuriates it.

"Brother-in-law, what's going on?"

The two then snapped out of their excitement and looked at the group of frost giants that had stopped in front of them.

“This is a long story, I’ll tell you when I have time. Right now, this Chieftain of the Ragras Frost Giants is our ally,” Li Wei explained casually, then asked the question that had been on his mind: “How is Gonda now? Did only the two of you escape? What about Fatil and the others? And what happened to His Majesty Harland?”

The three of them waited quietly on the hill, chatting as they went.

“Gonda is probably full of undead now.” Mir smiled bitterly. “My senior sister Peya and I had just arrived in Gonda when the undead attacked us at night. We thought it was just a small group of necromancers causing trouble, but we didn’t expect the whole of Gonda to be like this.”

"My senior sister Peiya and I couldn't even leave the room because we were blocked inside by endless undead, so we had no idea how Sophia and the others were doing."

"It's even more devastating than I expected." Li Wei frowned.

To be honest, when I saw that Mir's status on the system panel was always healthy, I thought he had reunited with Fatil.

Unexpectedly, they were completely separated.

Then came the whistling sound.

Above the snow-covered sky, the outline of a colossal creature was tearing through the snow curtain at an astonishing speed. It was a giant dragon made of white bones, its wingspan covering the sky and the sun, with two eerie blue soul flames burning in its empty eye sockets.

At the center of its rugged back stood a tiny yet terrifying figure—the Lich King Ubigail.

Its tattered lich robes fluttered in the gale, and it held a skeletal scepter. At the top of the scepter, countless hideous faces appeared on the black soul gem, as if they were wailing.

"Found you, two insects who show no respect in the face of the strong." Its immense mental power quickly followed the tracking spell and located the two, its face filled with resentment.

As a top-tier powerhouse, it was an unbearable humiliation that a mere insect could cause it to suffer some losses.

The bone dragon flapped its wings violently, its speed increasing dramatically once more. Like a massive shadow of death, it rapidly approached the hill from afar.

It opened its jaw, which was now just bones, and a chilling blue breath was frantically gathering in the soul fire in its throat, instantly freezing the surrounding air into fine ice crystals.

Ubigail's icy gaze pierced through the wind and snow, precisely locking onto the three people on the hill.
When he saw the proud, golden-robed figure standing tall and the enormous, menacing frost giants behind him, his soulfire throbbed violently, as if struck by an invisible hammer.

"Li...Livi?!" The Lich King's dry, grating voice held a hint of surprise for the first time, like icy wind being forced into a broken bellows. "How did you get here?! And so many frost giants..."

His heart sank.

It had no idea why this dragon knight would appear here at this time, along with so many frost giants, especially the leader whose aura terrified it.

Ubigail had already begun chanting the incantation without making a sound.

"Oh? You actually know me?" Li Wei finally showed some interest.

He sensed the elemental magic fluctuating around him and knew without a doubt that it was the Lich King causing it, but he didn't care.

Sensing the opponent's strength, if we disregard the undead dragon, Sersni alone could handle it. If they were together, it would be a 50/50 match at best.

To put it bluntly, with this kind of strength, it is clearly not enough to make Gonda fall.

"To be honest, I don't understand how someone like you could make Gonda like this. It seems that Gonda really has no one left."

"Tell me, what exactly is your organization? I don't think you're just one person."

Faced with this blatant humiliation, Ubigail didn't dare to make a move directly. The faint but palpable pressure emanating from him made it feel as if it were being watched by an ancient dragon, not to mention the many frost giants present. It lacked the confidence to defeat this renowned dragon knight in one strike. It merely let out two cold laughs, its voice hoarse and icy: "We are the Old Gods' Order. My name is Ubigail. Remember this name, for soon you will become one of us!"

The Lich King spoke without any apparent concern, as if the more people knew about this, the better.

"Li Wei, hand over these two humans now, and I'll leave." Ubigail waved her staff, which seemed to be brimming with some kind of powerful magic. The undead dragon beneath her feet roared, and its snout shimmered with an eerie light—a sign of the impending dragon's breath.

Li Wei glanced at him sideways, as if he were an absolute idiot.

This gaze only fueled Ubigail's shame and anger.

"My lord, why waste time with it?" Lagras clenched his huge fist, his arm muscles bulging with icy blue, as if they contained the power of a mountain: "Just kill it. Judging from its appearance, we definitely won't be able to extract any important information from it."
