Chapter 125 The Little Bear's Hunt

Guo Mi was overjoyed when her friend, who had been missing for almost half a year, unexpectedly appeared before her.

She ran two steps toward Summer, but quickly noticed the little bear cub at her feet and stopped again.

Summer's little bear cubs are already half-grown. Now that they're more aware of things, they've lost their former "newborn calf is not afraid of tigers" spirit. When they see such a big adult bear running towards them, they get scared and shrink back under their mother's belly.

Summer took two steps back, leaving the little bear cub exposed to the air. When it tried to shrink back under its mother's belly, it was stopped by her darkening gaze and could only sit helplessly in place, curled up, not daring to turn its head.

Seeing this, Guo Mi was caught in a dilemma, unable to move forward or sit down.

Summer shifted her gaze from the teddy bear to Guo Mi, her nose twitching slightly as if confirming something.

Guo Mi didn't know if there would be another one like her in the Arctic, given her exceptionally beautiful appearance; at least she hadn't encountered one yet.

However, bears' social interactions can be far more dangerous than human social interactions at times, and sudden aggression is common.

So she stayed put and handed the initiative over to Xia Tian.

A few seconds later, the mother bear on the other side seemed to have made up her mind and took the initiative to raise her paw and walk towards Guo Mi.

Her little bear cub had forgotten Guo Mi, the "long bear" with whom she had been close in her childhood. He looked at his mother with a shocked expression, seemingly unable to understand her behavior.

Xia Tian walked up to Guo Mi, gently pressed his body against hers, and said with a smile:
"It's been a long time, Guo Mi."

Seeing that she didn't seem to be angry, Guo Mi relaxed and nuzzled against her. Then, she suddenly remembered something she had forgotten and quickly turned to look in the direction of the little bear.

The two bear cubs have begun their hunt, but only the salmon has launched an attack, while the fishbone has instead scurried off in the opposite direction.

Guo Mi stared intently at them, and Xia Tian sat down beside her without saying a word, watching the hunt alongside her.

Arctic hares are extremely good runners and very agile, making them no less difficult to catch than reindeer for a clumsy bear.

If there's any advantage, it's only that reindeer might fight back, and for such fragile little animals, fighting back is tantamount to suicide.

They could only run away.

This rabbit has legs that are much longer than those of ordinary rabbits, especially when it runs, making it look like a dog with ears.

When chased to the extreme, it even raises its two front paws and hops upright on its hind paws to run.

It was a novel species not only for the little bear, but also for Guo Mi.

When Guo Mi saw the salmon deliberately driving one of the rabbits toward the fish skeleton, she had already guessed their plan.

It has to be said that the little guy has imitated everything he sees to an extreme degree.

Even without the advantage of terrain, he changed Guo Mi's initial action of driving large numbers of reindeer onto the pile of boulders to his original determination to choose a target.

The rabbit being chased clearly had no idea that another bear was lying in ambush ahead of it, and ran in the direction the salmon wanted, just as she had hoped.

The salmon was panting heavily as it chased after the rabbit.

This tiny animal was much faster than her; if she wasn't careful and it broke free, all her efforts would be in vain.

She could only do her best to follow behind, creating a sense of tension for it to escape, forcing it to run towards the fishbone.

Everything was proceeding according to plan. Just as the fishbone rushed forward, another deadly maw suddenly appeared in front of the running rabbit!
Not only the salmon, but even Guo Mi was on tenterhooks, nervously watching the fishbone's decisive moment!
The sharp teeth had already touched the rabbit's spine!
The moment it bit down, the rabbit, already shrouded in death, suddenly leaped high into the air with a push of its hind legs!
The tiny figure escaped from the fishbone's mouth, nimbly weaving between its four paws, and in the blink of an eye, it was gone. It was too late to give chase; the bears could only watch helplessly as the rabbit disappeared into its burrow.

The prey that was about to be caught escaped in such an unexpected way. Looking at the two lost bear cubs in the distance, Guo Mi felt complicated.

I had considered that they might fail, but I never imagined that the moment of failure would be just a second before they succeeded.

The overwhelming disappointment that followed the initial surprise might have been a bit cruel for the little bear.

"Their hunting methods are not like those of bears."

Summer's voice suddenly rang out from the side.

Guo Mi turned around, her eyes somewhat blank:

"why?"

Summer sat still and leisurely raised her paw:
"The mouth is not the most important thing for a bear when hunting; this is."

As she spoke, she brandished her claws, a chilling glint flashing across their sharp edges.

"If he had swatted at it with his paws instead of biting it, that rabbit would be lying on the ground now."

Guo Mi had no way to refute her; she was right.

Bears are also carnivores, but their mouths are not as wide open, as powerful in terms of bite force, or as flexible as those of lions and tigers, making them unsuitable as the primary claws for hunting prey.

Summer put down her paws and muttered to herself:

"How did you develop such a bad habit..."

Guo Mi shrank back and remained silent.

How did you develop these bad habits?

Of course, I learned it from her without even realizing it, after seeing her shake her head to bite the crazy little bird, lower her head to steal eggs, silently bite the fox, bite the goose above and the reindeer below.

Thinking about it this way, Guo Mi felt even more ashamed and awkwardly changed the subject:
"Have you ever caught rabbits before?"

Fortunately, Xia Tian didn't dwell on this issue too much and answered easily:

"No."

No? !
Guo Mi blinked, and Xia Tian glanced at the rabbit holes on the plain, somewhat unconvinced:
"I've only seen them before. It's too much trouble, and there's not much meat. It's better to wait and catch those little things later to lure the wolves over. That would be more worthwhile."

Guo Mi was stunned. There were wolves here?!
Before she could think further, Xia Tian had already stood up and took the initiative to say:
"The wind has changed direction, you'd better change positions, or your little brat will find you soon."

Guo Mi could only put aside her thoughts and follow behind her in silence. After taking a couple of steps, she remembered something and turned around to see Xia Tian's little bear cub still sitting alone in the same spot, looking at them pitifully.

Seeing that the round-faced bear's gaze softened, Xia Tian spoke up before she could:
"Ignore her."

Guo Mi looked at her in surprise.

If she remembered correctly, Xia Tian cared for her child even more than she did. What was wrong with her today?

Summer turned around and continued walking, but after taking two steps, she suddenly stopped and looked back at Guo Mi:
"Tell me, is it feasible for me to kick her out and let her stay with your two little brats?"
