Chapter 482 Enough to eat for a long time
“Black eyes and a spiral,” Robin thought. “I feel like I’ve seen this symbol somewhere before.”
“Regardless,” Luffy suddenly said, his expression serious, “to turn someone upside down like this and then just leave them be—that pirate is going too far!”
“Yes,” Sanji nodded, “It’s simply unforgivable.”
“Pike,” Nami asked gently, “how are you all doing? Is life alright?”
"It's alright," Pike managed a weak smile. "Even though we've shrunk, we're still trying to survive. We've rebuilt the village and adapted to our new bodies. Fishing has become more difficult because we're so small, but we've learned to use traps to catch small fish and insects. Building houses also required relearning, because our old houses were too big for us."
“That sounds really tough,” Chopper said sympathetically.
“Yes,” Pick nodded, “but we survived. There are about two hundred people in the village now, and we help each other and live together.”
“Two hundred people,” Franky said. “That’s quite a lot.”
“Oh, right,” Pike suddenly remembered something, “would you like to come and visit our village? The elders would definitely love to see you.”
"Elder?" Luffy asked.
“Yes,” Pike explained. “He was one of the people who experienced the changes back then, the oldest and wisest man in the village. He must be very eager to meet you outsiders.”
“Great!” Luffy immediately agreed. “I want to see your village!”
"Wait, Luffy!" Nami grabbed him. "Won't we scare the villagers if we go in like this? We're way too big for them."
“It’s alright,” Pique said. “Everyone will understand once I explain. And they’ll all be happy to see such kind outsiders.”
"Let's go then!" Luffy said excitedly.
“Wait a minute,” Robin suddenly said, “Pick, can I ask you a question?”
“Of course.” Pique nodded.
"In the past twenty years, have you never thought of leaving this island to find someone who can help you?" Robin asked. "Like finding a doctor, or that pirate to lift the curse?"
Pique gave a wry smile.
“It’s not that we haven’t thought about it,” he said, “but we’re too small to sail a boat. We’ve tried building small boats, but on the open sea, those boats couldn’t even withstand a single wave. And besides, we don’t know where that pirate went. How are we supposed to find him on this vast ocean?”
“That’s true,” Robin sighed.
“So we have no choice but to stay here,” Pique continued. “This island has become our prison. We live freely, but we can never leave.”
"But things are different now," Luffy grinned. "Because we're here!"
"Huh?" Pique was stunned.
"We're pirates, we have ships, we can sail!" Luffy said. "If you want to find that bastard pirate, we can help you!"
"Really?" Piqué's eyes gleamed with hope.
"Of course it's true!" Luffy patted his chest. "I'm going to be the Pirate King! Helping my friends is the right thing to do!"
“Luffy.” Piqué’s eyes welled up with tears.
"Don't cry, don't cry." Chopper was also moved. "We'll definitely help you!"
“That’s right.” Nami nodded. “Now that we’ve encountered this, we can’t just stand by and do nothing.”
“This kind of bully who preys on the weak must be taught a lesson,” Zoro said coldly.
“That’s exactly what I mean.” Sanji lit a cigarette. “It’s simply unforgivable to see innocent people like this.”
“We will do our best to help you,” Robin said gently.
“Thank you so much, madam!” Pike said excitedly. “Please come with me! I’ll take you to see the elders!”
The group followed Pike and continued towards the village.
Along the way, Pique kept looking back at them, his eyes filled with hope and gratitude.
“It’s so good to have met you,” he whispered. “After twenty years, finally someone is willing to help us.”
"Don't say that," Nami said gently with a smile. "It's what we should do."
After passing through a dense thicket of bushes, they finally saw the village.
As seen from the mountaintop, it's a village comprised of many small buildings. The houses, only about thirty to fifty centimeters high, are constructed of wood, leaves, and stone, and appear quite exquisite. A simple fence surrounds the village, presumably for protection against wild animals.
“This is our village,” Pike introduced, “Spring Breeze Village.”
"What an exquisite village!" Nami exclaimed.
“It’s like a toy house,” Chopper said excitedly.
"Everyone be careful not to step on the house," Robin warned.
The group nodded and cautiously approached the village.
The little people in the village noticed their arrival.
At first, there was panic, and many people screamed and hid in the house.
"Don't be afraid!" Pique shouted. "They're good people! They won't hurt us!"
Slowly, the little people peeked out of the house, looking curiously at the group of "giants".
An old man emerged from the largest house. His hair was white, his face was covered in wrinkles, but his eyes were still bright. He leaned on a cane taller than himself and slowly walked to the edge of the village.
“Pike,” the old man’s voice was hoarse but strong, “Who are these people?”
“Elder!” Pike said respectfully, “These are travelers from the sea! They are good people, and they are willing to help us!”
"Help us?" The elder looked up and carefully examined the Straw Hat Pirates.
Luffy crouched down to bring himself and the elder at eye level.
"Hello, grandpa," he grinned. "My name is Luffy, and I'm a pirate!"
"Pirates?" The elder frowned. "Pirates again."
"But we're not like that bastard pirate!" Luffy said earnestly. "We won't hurt innocent people!"
The elder silently watched Luffy, seemingly judging his sincerity.
After a long while, he sighed.
“Your eyes are indeed different from that man’s,” the elder said. “That man’s eyes held only madness and malice, while yours hold light.”
"Light?" Luffy was stunned.
“It is the light of kindness and justice,” the elder smiled. “It seems Pike was right about you. Welcome to Spring Breeze Village.”
The elder's words lulled the villagers into a false sense of security. Gradually, more and more tiny people emerged from their houses, gathering around the edge of the village and watching these "giants" with curiosity.
“Thank you for your trust, grandpa,” Nami said gently. “Pike has already told us what happened to you. What that pirate did was outrageous.”
“Yes,” the elder said with a bitter smile, “For twenty years, we have lived under his curse.”
“Elder,” Robin knelt down and said earnestly, “we want to help you. Although we can’t lift the curse immediately, we can at least help improve your lives.”
"Improve our lives?" The elder looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"Yes!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly, "We can help you build houses, find food, and drive away wild animals!"
"The elder hesitated, "You're willing to help us strangers?"
"Of course!" Luffy grinned, "Because we're friends!"
“Friends,” the elder’s eyes welled up with tears, “it’s been so long since I’ve heard that word.” “Then let’s begin!” Franky rubbed his hands together eagerly. “I’m an expert at building! Do you have any houses that need repair?”
The elder looked around the village and pointed to several dilapidated houses.
“Those houses were damaged in the storm last month,” he said. “We’ve been trying to repair them, but we don’t have enough materials, and moving large pieces of wood is too difficult for us.”
“Leave it to us!” Sanji said. “This is a piece of cake for us.”
“Then let’s divide the work,” Nami began to assign tasks. “Franky will be in charge of repairing the house, Zoro and Sanji will go chop wood, Chopper will help with the transport, and Luffy…”
"I'm going to play!" Luffy was surrounded by a group of children.
The children have overcome their initial fear and are now excitedly circling around Luffy.
"Are you really a pirate?" a little boy asked.
“Yeah, right!” Luffy laughed.
"Are pirates really that powerful?" a little girl asked curiously.
"Of course I'm amazing! I'm going to be the Pirate King!" Luffy said proudly.
"What is One Piece?" The children's eyes lit up.
"He's the most powerful pirate!" Luffy explained.
"Wow!" the children exclaimed.
Nami watched this scene and shook her head helplessly.
“Fine, let him play with the children,” she said. “Anyway, we can’t expect him to do the work.”
“That’s right.” Zoro smiled too.
"Then let's get to work!" Franky shouted.
Everyone took action immediately.
Zoro and Sanji entered the forest to find suitable timber. For them, felling trees was a piece of cake. Zoro could easily slice the thick trunks into neat planks with just a few strokes, while Sanji carried them away.
"Is this enough?" Sanji asked as he returned carrying a pile of timber.
“That’s enough!” Franky inspected. “The quality is good too. Now it’s my turn!”
He began repairing the damaged houses. Although the houses were small, Frankie was a skilled craftsman; he carefully replaced the damaged planks, reinforced the loose structures, and repaired the leaky roofs.
The little people stood aside, watching this scene in astonishment.
"Wow, that's fast!" exclaimed a villager. "It takes us several days to build a house, but he finished it in minutes."
"And the quality is so good too," another villager exclaimed.
Chopper was helping to transport some small materials. Although he wasn't as strong as Zoro and Sanji, it was enough for the little guys.
“Thank you, little reindeer,” a villager said gratefully.
"I'm not a reindeer, no, I am a reindeer, but don't call me a little reindeer, I'm a doctor!" Chopper was once again caught in his characteristic dilemma.
The villagers all laughed.
Brooke plays music in the village, and her cheerful piano music makes the atmosphere of work even more pleasant.
“Hehehe! Although I can’t be of much help, I can still provide music!” he said.
Robin and Nami were helping the villagers organize their supplies. They discovered that the village had very little food reserves.
"What do you usually eat?" Nami asked.
“Mainly small fish, insects, and wild fruits,” a female villager replied, “but now, at this time of year, food is becoming increasingly scarce.”
“Then we’ll help you gather some food,” Robin suggested.
"Really?" the villager asked in surprise.
“Of course.” Nami nodded. “It’s not difficult for us.”
Borsalino stood at the edge of the village, leisurely observing his surroundings. His Observation Haki spread out, monitoring everything happening on the island.
“There are indeed quite a few wild animals on this island,” he said slowly, “and several are approaching.”
"A wild beast?" the elder exclaimed nervously. "Is it a large one?"
“Yes, probably wild boars and wolves or something like that,” Borsalino nodded. “They would certainly be dangerous for you.”
“We’ve set traps and fences around the village,” the elder said, “but wild animals still frequently break in. Last month, a wild boar charged into the village, destroying several houses and injuring three people.”
“That won’t do.” Sauron walked over. “I’ll go take care of those beasts.”
“I’m going too,” Sanji said.
"Be careful," Nami cautioned.
The two entered the forest and soon found the wild animals approaching the village.
A giant wild boar is foraging in the forest. To normal humans, it is just average-sized, but to smaller people, this wild boar is simply a monster.
"Is this what it is?" Zoro drew his sword. "It's certainly dangerous for little people."
The wild boar spotted them and let out a threatening roar.
“Solve it.” Sanji lit a cigarette.
Zoro swung his sword, and the boar was cleanly and decisively defeated before it could even react.
“One strike is enough,” Zoro said.
“There are still a few wolves.” Sanji pointed in another direction.
The two worked together seamlessly and quickly cleared away all the dangerous wild animals around the village.
“This meat can be given to the villagers,” Sanji said, hoisting the wild boar onto his shoulder. “It will at least feed them for a while.”
“Good idea.” Zoro nodded.
When they brought the beast's carcass back to the village, the villagers were stunned.
"This...this is..." the elder stared incredulously at the wild boar. "This is the same wild boar that often attacks our village!"
“Yes, it’s been taken care of,” Zoro said calmly. “The other wild animals in the area have also been cleared out.”
"Wow, that's amazing!" the villagers cheered.
“This wild boar has been bothering us for months!” a villager exclaimed excitedly.
“We’re finally safe now!” Another villager said, his eyes welling up with tears.
Sanji put the wild boar down.
“You can divide this meat among yourselves,” he said. “It should last us a long time.”
“But,” one villager said hesitantly, “we’re too small. How are we supposed to butcher such a large wild boar?”
"Ah, right." Sanji slapped his forehead. "I'll help you guys."
He took out his knife and began skillfully butchering the wild boar. As a cook, he was very adept at handling meat. Soon, the wild boar was broken down into appropriately sized pieces, each large enough for the little people.
"How should we preserve this meat?" Nami asked.
