Red Dragon has magic

Chapter 8 The Truth

Chapter 8 The Truth
Most dragons are solitary, and almost all red dragons are solitary and very territorial by nature, constantly watching out for any intruders and encroachments from other dragons.

However, the essence of Leon's soul is human, and humans are social animals... In short, he can tolerate loneliness, but he has a strong need for social interaction.

Tian Jian had pity, and he could finally communicate and interact with others. Leon sniffed, and was so excited that tears were about to flow, but he still did not forget to ask: “Why did she send you to find me?”

"Your sister said you were stupid, so Ms. Moltenthroat sent me to check on you." Edwin paused, "It seems that there is nothing wrong with your intelligence, you just can't understand what we are saying."

The young dragon looked around and said, "There is a problem with my dragon heritage. It's a small problem."

"What dragon heritage?" Edwin frowned slightly.

"I've never heard of anything like that."

He pondered for a moment and nodded smugly.

"It can indeed be said to be the heritage of dragons... a young dragon inherits a considerable body of useful knowledge from its parents, although this inherited knowledge is buried deep in memory, unnoticed and unused until it is recalled when needed."

Leon's pupils subconsciously shrank when he heard Edwin's words.

He remembered that according to the setting, the dragon heritage did exist to some extent, but there was no dragon heritage with such vast memory that it could easily burst the heads of young dragons.

"You are very smart." Edwin continued, "Why don't you seek help from your mother when this problem arises?"

The young dragon wanted to argue, "We just met and we only spoke about ten sentences in total. How do you know I'm smart?"
"Don't you want to be looked down upon by your mother?" Edwin said to himself.

Dragons are creatures of superiority. For them, this is not just a dogmatic belief, but a fundamental fact. Something they know from birth, a cornerstone of their personality and worldview. Trying to humble a dragon is like trying to tell the wind not to blow, or trying to convince a starving person not to die of poverty.

"I understand." As the chief wizard under the mother dragon, he actually doesn't care about the pitiful self-esteem of the dragonfly.

"It won't work if there's no way to communicate... You can't keep having people cast Comprehend Languages on you."

Edwin looked at the young dragon and said, "Warlocks are born with the ability to cast spells. They don't rely on spellbooks or mentors, they only rely on pure willpower. But you don't have to be a warlock to cast spells, you can also be a wizard like me."

"If you want, you can come to my laboratory and find me. I can teach you the common language... but not the dragon language. The vocal organs of humans and dragons are different, so my language is not standard." Edwin turned his head and looked. "My laboratory is at the foot of the mountain. You will know when you fly up to the sky."

Edwin turned and started to leave.

Leon called him, hesitated for a moment, and said, "I can't find you because I... I can't fly, just like I can't speak Common Language or Dragon Language."

"Since you can walk, you can fly." Edwin raised his eyebrows, "Practice, spend more time practicing instead of sleeping."

"Magic, I don't know magic, so I can't fly." Leon said.

Edwin looked up at the sky, and Leon followed his gaze but saw nothing.

"Birds don't know magic, so why can they fly?" Edwin said with some disgust.

"Birds can fly, but dragons must rely on magic... because dragons are too heavy." Leon said. "Are you a dragon, or am I a dragon?" Edwin laughed, not caring at all about the possible anger of the dragon hatchling.

"Many people believe that dragons' ability to fly is due to magic, but it is well known that dragons can take off in anti-magic zones where their spells and breath weapons cannot work." Edwin nodded towards Leon. "The reason dragons can fly is that they weigh much less than creatures of the same size, and the muscles that help them fly are particularly strong, giving their wings enough power to fly."

"Ah, is that so?" The young dragon was confused. Did he misunderstand again? He had read a lot of setting books, but they were all mixed up.

Edwin didn't answer Leon, but cast a teleportation spell and disappeared into thin air.

After a long while, Leon came back to his senses and looked at the empty space where Edwin had been standing. He thought that teleportation should be a seventh-ring spell. To master a seventh-ring spell, one must have a professional level of 13 or above. In other words, Edwin is at least a professional level 13 wizard, which is really strong. He is a kingdom-level master.

The dragoness did not appear in front of him in person. Only the dragon sister came to find him yesterday and reported the abnormality he found to the dragoness. Then the dragoness summoned Edwin... It seems that the dragoness still cares about him and is not to the point of ignoring him.

Leon thought about it for a moment, and remembered that the most important thing for him now was to learn to fly. As long as he learned to fly, he could go anywhere.

He originally thought that flying must rely on magic, and when he failed to fly after trying, he quickly gave up because he believed from the bottom of his heart that he could not fly. Now that he knew from Edwin that the dragon's flying ability did not rely on magic, he was full of confidence. If he could not learn it in one day, he would try two days, and if he could not learn it in two days, he would try three days.

Leon has loved the show "Animal World" since he was a child. He knows that many birds need to rely on wind and rising warm air currents that are invisible to the naked eye to fly. For example, albatrosses need to take off against the wind, and sometimes they have to run or take off from the edge of a cliff. When there is no wind, they can't even fly...

For a whole day, Leon tried various methods to fly, such as flapping his wings in place, flapping his wings while running, jumping up and flapping his wings after a run-up... At one point he ran to the top of a slope and jumped toward the river, so that even if he couldn't fly in the end he wouldn't fall hard.

Maybe try starting with gliding?
All in all, it took Leon almost three days to fly with many bumps and bruises. He had no dignity or image, and looked more like a big bat and a fluttering moth than a dragon. However, he remembered that Dragon Girl flew in the same way, so he felt a little comforted.

Leon hesitated for a long time and finally gave up looking for the dragoness. After all, he didn't even know the common language, so how could he greet the dragoness? It was more important to find Edwin and learn the common language.

As Edwin said, it would be easy to find his lab by just flying high into the sky.

It didn't take much effort for Leon to land in front of a manor that looked obviously abandoned. He saw a tall golem standing at the door. He didn't dare to rush in and could only stand at the door and shout loudly.

Leon waited for five minutes, but no one came out. He yelled again and waited for a few more minutes, and Edwin finally showed up.

"I thought you were going to fight my golem," said Edwin.

"I forgot you don't know the Common Tongue." Edwin made a sound and cast Tongues on himself and Leon at the same time.

"Here I am." Leon said, "Please teach me the common language."

"Trouble?" Edwin looked directly at Leon, "You really are the most polite dragon I have ever met."

Leon paused, wondering if he should act more arrogantly, so that he would be more like a red dragon. After a long pause, he said, “You’re welcome.”

Edwin shrugged his shoulders without comment, turned and walked towards the house, and said, "Come in with me."
