A Manual for Surviving a Weird World
Chapter 367 Journey
Chapter 367 Journey
Mary took two bandages out of her pocket and applied them to Plumeria's wound. Then she grabbed Plumeria's wrist and walked towards the door.
"Where are you taking me?" Plumeria asked.
“Leave here.” Meilin said as they walked. “It’s dangerous here. Some kind of strange event we don’t know about is spreading. I must take you away from here immediately and get you to a safe place.”
“Oh.” Plumeria didn’t argue, letting Mary pull her toward the door.
She now completely obeys Mary's decision.
The two arrived at the door. Meilin tried turning the handle and pushing the door open. Unexpectedly, the door opened.
Although it was only slightly ajar, it was enough to show that the door was not locked, but simply closed normally. If Andrei outside wanted to trap them inside, the door should have been completely sealed shut.
Mary gripped the doorknob and cautiously continued to push the door open.
As the crack in the door slowly widened, she could feel the door's immense weight, as if something was blocking it from the outside, requiring her considerable strength to push it open.
Just as the gap in the door widened enough for one person to barely pass through, a muffled thud came from outside the door, and something fell to the ground.
Mary, holding Promelia's hand, cautiously peeked outside and saw a very familiar corpse lying face down on the ground where the sound came from, with crimson blood spreading from beneath it.
“Andrei?” Meilin frowned slightly. Without touching him, she kicked the corpse over to look at his face, and it was indeed Andrei.
Plumeria peeked out from behind Melinda and looked at the corpse on the ground, saying, "Andrei's body was originally sitting on the ground with his back to the door. When you pushed the door, you also knocked over his body."
Mary nodded. Based on the situation at the scene, she could roughly deduce the process of Andrei's death:
When he and the young lady entered the room, Andrei did not go in with them, but stood outside the door waiting alone.
Because Katya's body was naked, out of courtesy, Andrei stood with his back to the door outside the entrance while waiting.
He then died suddenly for some unknown reason. His body fell backward, hit the door, and slumped outside. This is why Mary and Plumeria heard the loud slam of the door closing by the bathtub.
"Who killed him? Was it Fenwu?" Plumeria wondered, and was about to squat down to examine Andrei's body when Meilin stopped her.
Plumeria looked up in confusion, only to see Mary's serious expression as she shook her head and said, "We need to leave here as soon as possible; we can't delay any longer."
For Mary, protecting her mistress's safety is the top priority; everything else must take a backseat. Now that the mirror is damaged and they can no longer escape into the mirror world, they must leave the hotel as soon as possible.
Plumeria's eyes flickered, and she hesitated. In Meilin's heart, her safety was always the top priority, but in her heart, completing her master's mission was the top priority. Now that Fenwu had not yet shown up, how could she, as bait, leave?
The girl's hesitation lasted only a moment before Plumeria nodded: "I'll go with you."
Mary breathed a sigh of relief.
Plumeria is currently unable to determine whether her memories have been altered, and the safest option is to follow Melinda's decision, whatever it may be.
Seeing the girl nod, Meilin didn't delay any longer. She kicked Andrei's corpse aside, pushed the door open completely, and took Plumeria's hand as she headed for the elevator. Just as she took a step, she heard a cry of surprise from behind her.
"what!"
Upon hearing the sound, Mary turned around immediately and saw a girl behind her with a look of fear on her face. A pale hand had appeared on her leg at some point, with long and sharp nails digging deep into the flesh, gripping the girl's slender ankle, which was covered by black pantyhose.
Following the pale arm, Mary saw a naked, snow-white female corpse lying face down in front of the door. Water stains on the floor stretched from beneath the body all the way to the bathtub by the window in the distance; she had crawled over from there.
"Damn it!" Mary gritted her teeth, stuffed the still-intact bronze mirror into her bosom, and pulled out her pistol to empty the magazine. But as Mary hooked the trigger with her index finger, she suddenly felt a strong pulling sensation in her right leg. Looking down, she saw a large male hand gripping her ankle. It was Andrei, who had died outside the door, and his body had also risen to his feet.
“My…”
Evil spirits lingered inside the window, while outside, the moon and stars were few and far between, and the waves continued to pound against the embankment.
Ning Zhe, already dressed in full black hunting attire, stepped out of the airship cabin. The evening wind howled on the rooftop of the building, making the hem of his clothes flutter and his jet-black hair fly in the wind.
Xia Yubing buttoned up her trench coat to the collar, followed him out of the cabin, and asked with some confusion, "Weren't we supposed to be going back to Kyushu? Why are we leaving the airship?"
The airport in Port Vivian is no longer operational. Even if you need to transfer to another flight in the next city, it would be faster to take a blimp directly there, right?
“If we fly back, Fenwu will find out. We need to take another route.” Ning Zhe said, leaving the helipad and arriving at the edge of the rooftop. The port area outside the railing was pitch black, with white waves crashing against the embankment.
"If we're not taking a plane... then how about by water?" Xia Yubing asked.
Ning Zhe nodded: "Yes, by water."
After speaking, Ning Zhe took out a bottle of mineral water from his pocket, unscrewed the cap, and poured the liquid into the ground at his feet.
Xia Yubing didn't understand. It was just a bottle of ordinary mineral water, which cost 45 euros a bottle in the supermarket. It was said to be glacial water from Antarctica and tasted quite sweet.
"Come here." Ning Zhe grabbed Xia Yubing's wrist and pulled her to his side. The two of them stepped onto the water-soaked rooftop.
Xia Yubing's vision blurred, and the surrounding scenery suddenly changed. A thick fog enveloped the two of them, making the whole world blurry. The bright moon in the sky disappeared, and the airship behind them could not be seen. All they could see was endless fog spreading.
"This is..." Xia Yubing noticed that her and Ning Zhe's hair had stopped flying, and the hem of their clothes, which had been fluttering just a moment ago, was now hanging down quietly.
The wind stopped.
From the depths of the fog came the sound of pattering water. Ning Zhe stood on the edge of the rooftop railing and looked into the distance. In the thick fog, he saw a blurry shadow that looked like a person.
The shadow in the fog drew closer and closer, and the sound of water gradually became clearer. Xia Yubing nervously clung to Ning Zhe's arm, watching the eerie figure grow closer and closer until it was right in front of her.
While waiting, Xia Yubing looked at the thick fog outside the railing and suddenly realized that Vivian Harbor downstairs had disappeared at some point, replaced by a lifeless, calm surface of water. However, due to the thick fog, she had not noticed it until now.
"How could this be?" Xia Yubing was astonished. The current situation was as if the sea level had suddenly risen dozens of stories high in an instant, submerging the entire Vivian Port. The rooftop where they were standing had become an isolated island in the sea.
Amidst the thick fog, the sound of water grew clearer. Ning Zhe squinted and saw that it was a shadow—an old wooden boat. On the boat was a thin, hunched old man wearing a straw raincoat, using a bamboo pole to row the small boat to the 'shore'.
"Let's go, let's get on the boat." Ning Zhe climbed over the railing, stepped onto the small boat, and left this 'isolated island' in the sea.
Xia Yubing had no choice but to board the boat and asked in a low voice, "Is this the waterway you were talking about?"
What waterway could flood the entire port?
Ning Zhe remained noncommittal: "Just tell me if it's a waterway or not."
The two settled into the small boat, and the stainless steel railing in front of them slowly disappeared into the mist, along with the 'shore' they had come from. At that moment, the old man rowing the boat put down his bamboo pole, turned around, and extended his hand to them.
—It costs money to take a boat.
