Chapter 182: Named Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven

The Monkey King was full of anticipation and hurriedly set foot on the path to Lingtai Fangcun Mountain.

The mountain breeze blew by, bringing with it a fresh scent unique to the forests, but the Monkey King had no intention of appreciating this picturesque scenery. His mind was completely occupied by the excitement of about meeting the immortal.

As he was walking, a melodious song came into his ears. The song was simple and unrestrained:

"Watching the chess pieces break, the clinking of woodcutters, walking slowly at the edge of the clouds and the valley. Wherever we meet, we are either immortals or Taoists, sitting quietly and talking about Huang Ting."

The Monkey King followed the sound and saw a woodcutter sitting leisurely under a tree and resting.

He hurried forward, bowed respectfully and asked:
"Brother, I just heard your singing, you sounded carefree and happy. I think there must be something extraordinary in this mountain. I wonder who lives in this mountain?"

The woodcutter looked at the Monkey King and saw that although he looked strange, he was very lively. He smiled and said:

"This mountain is called Lingtai Fangcun Mountain. There lives a true immortal on the mountain, known as the Holy Lord Zhaohou. This Holy Lord Zhaohou has great magical powers, knows everything in the world, and knows everything about the past and the future. He is a very powerful person!"

When the Monkey King heard this, his eyes instantly lit up with surprise, and his voice trembled with excitement:
"Is he such a powerful immortal?! I have come to the right place!"

After saying that, he eagerly asked the woodcutter about the way to go up the mountain, then thanked the woodcutter and galloped towards the top of the mountain without stopping.

Soon, the Monkey King arrived at a cave.

I saw that the door of the cave was open, and next to it were engraved with a few powerful characters "Slanting Moon Three Stars Cave".

There seems to be some mysterious power contained in the strokes, which makes people feel awe.

He raised his hand to tidy up his slightly messy clothes, brushed off the dust, took a deep breath, calmed his excited mood, and then shouted loudly:
"Immortal! I have come here with all my heart to become your disciple and learn the truth. I beg you to allow me to come in and listen to your teachings!"

However, the only response he got was the melodious chirping of birds in the mountains and forests. There was total silence and no one answered.

The Monkey King was not discouraged. He called out several more times, his voice louder and louder, each time more full of expectation, but still no response came.

Finally, he hesitated for a moment, a hint of determination flashed in his eyes, he gritted his teeth, and strode directly into the cave.

As soon as you take a step forward, the scene before your eyes changes completely in an instant, as if you have stepped into another world, a completely different world.

The originally narrow field of vision suddenly became extremely broad, the sky became bluer, the clouds became whiter, as if you could touch the soft clouds with your hand.

He walked along the winding path and came to a Taoist temple.

I saw a Taoist with an immortal look sitting upright on a cushion, with an upright posture and extraordinary temperament.

This Taoist looked quite young and had a handsome face, but he exuded an otherworldly aura, as if he was an immortal banished from the heavens to the mortal world, and his every move revealed his otherworldliness.

The Monkey King was slightly stunned.

The exiled Taoist in front of me.

But he was different from the one in Huaguo Mountain who taught him skills and guided him here.

But the Monkey King didn't think much about it.

Just asked:
"May I ask if this is the Holy Ancestor Zhao Hou?"

The Holy Ancestor of Zhaohou, also known as Lin Yuan, narrowed his eyes and looked at the Monkey King.

"You monkey, what brings you to my dojo?"

The Monkey King knelt on his knees with a plop, kowtowed heavily, his forehead touching the ground, his voice full of desire:
"My Immortal, please accept me as your disciple! I am a stone monkey from the Flower-Fruit Mountain. Under the guidance of another Immortal, I came here to learn the art of immortality. I hope the Immortal will help me!"

However, Lin Yuan only glanced at him calmly, his eyes as calm as water, without any disturbance:
"Taking on a disciple is no joke, so you can go back now."

After that, a breeze blew and the Monkey King was sent out of the cave.

But the Monkey King was unwilling to leave.

he knows.

If this Zhao Hou Shengzu really doesn't give him a chance.

It was absolutely impossible to open the door a little bit to allow him to walk into the cave and reach him.

And
He came here under the guidance of another immortal.

How could this immortal really not give me any chance at all?

This must be a test too!

So he found a place outside the cave and knelt down.

It was midsummer, the sun was high in the sky, and the scorching sunlight poured down unhindered, baking the earth scorchingly hot.

But after all, the Monkey King has practiced for hundreds of years and has a strong body.

Normal high temperature wouldn't do anything to him.

however.

The world in front of the cave seemed particularly extraordinary, or perhaps he seemed to have lost his magical powers at this moment.

Just like an ordinary monkey.

His knees were soon burned by the high temperature of the ground, and sweat rolled down his forehead like beads from a broken string, soaking the ground.

His hair was stuck together by sweat and his face was covered with dust, but his eyes were extremely firm as he stared at the cave entrance.

In the evening, dark clouds appeared in the sky and raindrops as big as beans poured down, instantly drenching the Monkey King to the bone.

The rain flowed down his cheeks and puddles soon formed on the ground. His knees were soaked in mud and water, feeling cold and painful, and his body began to shiver.

But the Monkey King still gritted his teeth and persisted. The howling wind almost made him totter, but he still persisted.

As night falls, the roars of various wild beasts can be heard from the mountains and forests, and an eerie atmosphere fills the air.

A hungry mountain wolf slowly approached, greed flashing in its eyes, and hovered around the Monkey King.

The Monkey King glared at him and slightly displayed his courage as the King of Flower-Fruit Mountain.

The mountain wolf seemed to be frightened by his aura and finally left quietly.

In this way, the Monkey King knelt outside the cave day after day.

If he hadn't been so strong, he would have fainted long ago.

But even so, his body became increasingly weak, his lips were cracked, and his throat was so dry that it was almost smoking. After all, he did not absorb the essence of the sun and the moon during this process.

Just relying on strong will to hold on.

Nearly two months passed before Holy Lord Zhaohou finally appeared at the entrance of the cave.

He looked at the embarrassed but determined Monkey King in front of him.

"Why are you so persistent?"

The Monkey King raised his head weakly:
"I seek the truth with all my heart, longing to escape the cycle of life and death, learn real skills, protect Huaguo Mountain, and protect my monkey group. Only practicing Taoism can help me realize my wish. I beg the immortal to give me a chance."

Lin Yuan stared at him quietly for a long time, then slowly said:
"Your desire to seek the truth is rare and precious. Get up. From today on, you will be my registered disciple."

Upon hearing this, the Monkey King's eyes instantly became moist and tears welled up in his eyes with excitement.

He used up his last bit of strength and kowtowed three times:

"Thank you, Immortal!"

The Monkey King, no, at this moment he had become a registered disciple of the Holy Lord Zhaohou. He forced himself to stand up slowly, supporting his weak body.

Lin Yuan's eyes were calm, and it was impossible to read his thoughts.

He raised his hand slightly and pointed a finger. Aura burst out and sank into the Monkey King's brow, instantly restoring his breath rapidly.

The Monkey King thanked him, and Lin Yuan said:

"Since you have become my disciple, I will give you a Dharma name. Your body is ugly, like a monkey, so I will take a character from this monkey.'

The character "猢" was removed from the animal radical, leaving the character "胡". "胡" means the ancient moon, and the old yin cannot nurture. So the character "狲" was used, but the animal radical was removed.

The word "Sun" is very good, and "Zi" means a boy, which is in line with the basic theory of infants. "

Lin Yuan spoke slowly:
"From now on, you will be called Sun Wukong."

When Sun Wukong heard this new name, he felt an indescribable excitement in his heart.

This name is a new starting point in his pursuit of the truth and a symbol of his entry into the immortal path.

His lips trembled and he wanted to say something, but he was speechless for a moment because he was too excited.

The tears in my eyes burst out again, flowing freely down my dusty and tired cheeks.

"Wukong, Wukong"

He muttered to himself, repeating his new name over and over again. Every time he said it, he felt more joyful, and even cried for joy.

Then, he knelt down again with a "thump", and this time, the sound of his kowtow was particularly loud, as if he wanted to put all his gratitude and respect into these kowtows. "Master, please accept my three kowtows! From now on, I, Sun Wukong, will follow your teachings, practice diligently, and live up to your kindness in taking me in and giving me a name!"

Sun Wukong's voice was so firm that it echoed for a long time in this quiet forest.

Seeing this, Lin Yuan raised his eyebrows slightly and thought to himself:
'What went wrong with this monkey? Why is he crying like a ghost?'

Under normal circumstances.

Shouldn't he be jumping up and down with excitement?

Well.

Original trajectory.

It seemed that Wukong went up to Lingtai Fangcun Mountain. After asking some questions, Patriarch Bodhi accepted him as his disciple, without refusing him to become his disciple as before.

But here, he suffered a lot.

On the surface, Lin Yuan just nodded slightly with a relieved smile on his face.

He waved his sleeves and said:

"Wukong, get up. Since you have entered our sect, you must abide by our rules. From today on, you will live and work with the brothers and slowly get familiar with everything in this mountain."

Sun Wukong quickly stood up and replied "Yes".

He looked around and felt that everything was different.

The fairy mountain that was once out of reach has now become his place of practice, and the fairy that was once hard to see has now become his master.

His heart was full of longing. He imagined that he would learn extraordinary skills in the future, return to the Flower-Fruit Mountain, and make all the monkeys proud of him. He also imagined that he could transcend life and death and no longer fear the unknown fate.

He followed Lin Yuan's guidance and walked into the depths of the Taoist temple.

Along the way, he looked around curiously. There were pavilions and towers scattered around, and exotic flowers and plants were fragrant. There were also fellow brothers coming and going, some practicing with swords, and some sitting in meditation.

He secretly made up his mind to work harder than anyone else to carve out a world of his own in this fairy mountain and make the name "Sun Wukong" resound throughout the three realms.

however.

At first, Sun Wukong was looking forward to learning advanced magic,

But what he didn't expect was that the Holy Lord Zhaohou did not teach him any specific method, but only taught him how to sweep, respond, and advance and retreat.

Sun Wukong was full of doubts, but he didn't dare to disobey his master's orders, so he could only accept it silently.

When he got outside the door, he greeted all the fellow disciples and then arranged his sleeping quarters between the corridors.

The next morning, I learned polite speech, discussed scriptures, practiced calligraphy and burned incense with my fellow brothers. This was done every day.

In his free time, he would sweep the floor, hoe the garden, grow flowers and prune trees, look for firewood to make fire, and fetch water to transport pulp.

Everything you need is available.

after a while.

Lin Yuan asked Wukong to find him in the library.

Wukong arrived, Lin Yuan said:

"Are you dissatisfied that I only taught you some etiquette and rules, but not the methods of cultivation?"

Wukong shook his head quickly:

"Disciples don't dare."

Lin Yuan stopped talking and just took out a scroll and spread it out.

It was a picture of starving people.

Painting corner poem:

"While the rich wine and meat smell, the road with frozen bone."

Lin Yuan's fingertips brushed across the curled-up child in the painting:
"Wukong, what if this child is your monkey from Huaguo Mountain?"

Wukong pointed at the nobleman in the painting:
"Rob his granary! Strip him of his brocade robe! Tie him up and make him kneel in the snow, and let him feel his bones frozen!"

Lin Yuan nodded slightly, but the drawing paper in front of him suddenly oozed blood, and the child turned into bones:
"What if you were half a step late and could only save this wreckage?"

Wukong said:
"Then we'll overturn Yama's palace! But... I heard that when mortals die, they enter reincarnation..."

Lin Yuan tore off a page from the painting, folded it into a ferry and put it into the tea bowl.

There seemed to be many wealthy and powerful officials on the ferry.

"Look at this ship—"

Then the ferry was seen sinking, and a pool of golden sand appeared at the bottom of the bowl.

"If these rich people die, their money will sink into the water and cannot be used for practical purposes. In this case, will you save them?"

Wukong picked up the wet paper boat:

"Save! Why not save them?! Wouldn't it be better if you save them and then rob the rich to help the poor?"

Lin Yuan said:
"What if this 'rich' is also a miserable person? Their money is the life-saving medicine for their sick wife."

Wukong said:
"Then...then find a fatter sheep! There is always ill-gotten gains in the world anyway!"

Lin Yuan smiled, suddenly stuffed the scroll into his arms, and said:
“When you go down the mountain tomorrow, take this scroll with you—if you encounter disasters, lend a helping hand.

If your actions are useful, you will be able to obtain the method of immortality you want from the scroll."

"If your actions don't really help anyone, then your efforts are in vain."

Wukong was stunned. He didn't expect that his master would ask him to go down the mountain just moments after he went up.

Without waiting for him to speak.

Lin Yuan continued:

"Wukong, you are different from others. You were born with the natural environment, a natural immortal fetus, and you have additional opportunities to always maintain a pure body."

"Over the years, you have accumulated a lot of potential in your body. With a little practice, you will be able to achieve something."

"However."

Lin Yuan's eyes suddenly became meaningful:
"When power comes too easily, it will inevitably change your mentality.

You still have a good heart now, but after you suddenly gain power, can you ensure that you don't become arrogant because of it?"

“When a teacher teaches his disciples, he always puts the state of mind first. If the state of mind is not up to standard, no matter how good his talent is or how high his cultivation level is.

I will not acknowledge him as my disciple either."

Lin Yuan looked at Wukong:

"In a sense, you are my most important disciple. I don't want to see you go astray."

"You can rob the rich to help the poor, punish the wicked and eliminate evil, and even if you find that the way of heaven is unfair, you can rebel against the way of heaven for the sake of all living things and restore order.

But I don’t want to see you only seek temporary pleasure and ignore others.”

"Wukong, have you remembered what your master said?"

Wukong was stunned, not knowing why his master said this.

But he still nodded and said:

"Disciple, please remember this."

Lin Yuan nodded:

“May you really keep this in mind.”

After that, he waved his hand:
"Go ahead, and go down the mountain tomorrow."

"."

Wukong hugged Lin Yuan, said goodbye, and left.

After he left, Lin Yuan turned around.

A golden line appeared between his eyebrows.

"If I show you compassion, can it suppress your savagery? Or can you naturally let the two coexist?"

"The Great Sage Equaling Heaven. I hope you can truly live up to the name of Saint."
