Chapter 37 Hire someone to smash up the stall!
The next morning, Jiang Mangang and Wang Xiu were setting up their stall when they ran into Jiang He, who was also coming out.

"Oh, ladies, are you setting up your stall again?"

Jiang He, still wearing the same new clothes from yesterday, walked up to Jiang Man as if showing off.

"I haven't made breakfast yet. How much are these steamed buns? I'll have five."

Wang Xiu scoffed, "Our steamed buns are for people, not for dogs!"

"What do you mean!"

Wang Xiu stomped her feet in anger, but Jiang Man didn't even bother to acknowledge her, as if she were less than trash in Jiang Man's eyes.

Jiang He watched Wang Xiu and Jiang Man walk further and further away, and stood there angrily muttering, "What's so amazing about it? When Qin Yishen comes back with a limp, you'll have your day."

After saying that, she turned around and went back into the yard, tied on her apron, and began to prepare breakfast for Lin Yanqing.

A few beads of sweat appeared on her forehead as she busily fiddled with the food in the pot.

The porridge in the pot was bubbling and steaming, and there were a few simple pickled vegetables in a small dish next to it, all made by her mother and some she had brought herself.

And the freshly made pancakes, although they didn't look very appealing, were a bit burnt in some places and undercooked in others, with a faint burnt smell.

After washing up, Lin Yan sat down at the somewhat worn-out dining table. As Jiang He brought over breakfast, she forced a smile, but inwardly sighed.

After Jiang He finished setting out the breakfast, he picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of flatbread, and took a bite. The taste was rather disappointing; it was hard and had a burnt taste in his mouth.

Seeing Jiang He looking at him expectantly, he swallowed back the words that were on the tip of his tongue, though his expression turned somewhat unpleasant. He frowned slightly, chewed a few more times with difficulty, swallowed, and then took a sip of porridge, trying to wash away the unpleasant taste in his mouth.

The two ate in silence, the atmosphere slightly awkward. Jiang He seemed to notice Lin Yanqing's unusual behavior, and felt a little wronged, but didn't know what to say.

Just then, Lin Yanqing smelled a rich aroma of steamed buns. The aroma was so strong that it made people swallow hard.

Lin Yanqing was already dissatisfied with this breakfast, and after smelling this aroma, he felt that the food in his mouth tasted even worse. He put down his chopsticks and said to Jiang He, "Xiao He, what's that smell outside? It smells so good. Go and see if they're selling steamed buns. If so, buy a couple. I'm actually quite hungry right now."

Upon hearing this, Jiang He's already unpleasant expression darkened even further. She said irritably, "That was made by Jiang Man. I went to buy it this morning, but not only did they refuse to sell it to me, they also scolded me."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened slightly, and a surge of grievance welled up inside her. Lin Yanqing was taken aback, not expecting this situation. Seeing Jiang He on the verge of tears, he regretted his earlier words and quickly comforted her, "Oh, it's okay if you can't buy it. Our homemade ones are just as good. I was just saying it because it smelled nice. Don't take it to heart."

Jiang He turned her head away and muttered under her breath, "Hmph, you just think my cooking isn't good enough. You said it was just a casual remark. What's so great about Jiang Man? She just makes slightly better-tasting steamed buns. And you won't even let me sell them, and you're still criticizing me..."

Lin Yanqing stood up helplessly, walked to Jiang He's side, gently patted her shoulder, and said with a smile, "How could I? I didn't mean to complain. The breakfast you made was made with your heart. It was my fault for bringing this up. Don't cry anymore, let's continue eating. We need to be full to have the energy to work."

Jiang He then turned her head slightly and looked at Lin Yanqing's ingratiating appearance. Her anger subsided a little, but she still couldn't help but snort and sat back down at the table. However, the atmosphere of this breakfast was still a bit awkward because of the steamed bun incident.

After Lin Yanqing went to work, Jiang He ran back to her parents' home to discuss things with Sun Meifen.

Jiang He frowned and plopped down on the stool opposite Sun Meifen, her face full of resentment and anger, as if she was holding back a lot of energy and urgently needed to find an outlet to vent it.

Looking at her daughter's expression, Sun Meifen guessed what was wrong. She sighed heavily and asked, "He'er, what's wrong now? You look so angry."

Jiang He bit her lip, leaned closer, and said in a low voice, "Mom, it's all because of that brat Jiang Man. She always puts me in a better position. Look at her, she's making a fortune in the city with her steamed bun business, but what about us? We haven't gotten any benefits. And my uncle is still in jail. How are we going to live from now on?"

As she spoke, her eyes reddened slightly. The moment her younger brother, still in jail, was mentioned, Sun Meifen's face turned deathly pale, and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably. Wiping away her tears, she sobbed, "My poor brother! It's all that heartless Jiang Man's fault! If it weren't for her, would we be in this state?"

Seeing her mother crying incessantly, Jiang He felt increasingly irritated, but she also wanted to find a way to deal with Jiang Man as soon as possible. So she suppressed her impatience and continued, "Mom, crying won't help. We need to think of a way to teach her a lesson."

Upon hearing this, Sun Meifen sobbed and looked up at Jiang He with teary eyes, asking with a hint of expectation, "Then tell me, what method is there?"

Jiang He frowned, pondered for a while, then her eyes suddenly lit up as if she had thought of something. She leaned close to Sun Meifen's ear and whispered, "Mom, her steamed buns in the city sell so well, how come no one gets sick from eating them?"

Sun Meifen was initially taken aback, but quickly, she seemed to understand Jiang He's meaning. Her eyes widened instantly, and the sadness on her face was replaced by a sinister glint. She slapped her thigh and exclaimed excitedly, "That's right! With such good sales, how could no one have gotten sick? Someone must have felt unwell, but just hasn't made a fuss yet. This is a good idea! Mom will find someone to make a scene right now!"

Jiang He quickly grabbed Sun Meifen and whispered a reminder: "Mom, you can't just find anyone. You have to find someone who looks honest and trustworthy. When the time comes, we can go to her steamed bun shop and make a scene, saying that we vomited and had diarrhea after eating the steamed buns. If we make a big fuss, her business will definitely go out of business. Let's see how smug she can be then."

Sun Meifen nodded repeatedly, wiping away her tears as she agreed, "Yes, yes, my daughter is so smart. We'll do it your way. I'll go to the next village and find your second aunt to help me find a suitable person, preferably someone who doesn't have much money but is willing to help if they hear about a reward. We'll give them a little money and let them put on a good show."

A smug smile appeared on Jiang He's face, as if she could already see Jiang Man's steamed bun shop in chaos, with business plummeting. She said viciously, "Hmph, Jiang Man, you've finally met your match. You never take us seriously before. This time, we'll teach you a lesson. Once her business collapses, let's see how she can stay in the city."

Sun Meifen chimed in, "That's right, that's right! We can't let her off so easily. We have to teach her a lesson, and it would be best if we could ruin her reputation so that no one would dare to buy steamed buns from her anymore. That would also be a way to vent my poor brother's anger!"
