Chapter 60 The cooking skills are truly amazing!

The military compound was shrouded in a light mist in the early morning.

Qin Yishen got up early, put on his neat military uniform, and stood tall and imposing.

He walked into the children's room and looked at Shi An and Shi Ning, who were still asleep, his eyes full of love.

"Get up, little ones, today is a big day for your new school."

Qin Yishen gently shook the children awake. Shi An rubbed his eyes, sat up abruptly, and said excitedly, "Dad, I've been looking forward to this day for so long!"

Shi Ning also woke up, still a little dazed, but her eyes were full of anticipation.

Jiang Man was busy in the kitchen, and the simple yet nutritious breakfast was emitting an enticing aroma.

At the breakfast table, Jiang Man served porridge to the children while reminding them: "When you get to school, you must respect your teachers, get along well with your classmates, and not be naughty."

With a steamed bun stuffed in his mouth, Shi An mumbled, "Mom, I know, I'll definitely be a good boy."

Shi Ning nodded obediently.

After breakfast, the family left the military compound and headed to their new school.

On the street, bicycle bells rang crisply, and people wore simple yet neat clothes.

The children looked around with curiosity, filled with a sense of wonder about the outside world.

Upon arriving at the school, the campus was filled with a lively atmosphere. Parents and children strolled through every corner of the campus.

Qin Yishen and Jiang Man took Shi An and Shi Ning to report for duty first.

The teacher who came to register looked at the two children kindly, registered their information, and informed them that Shi An had been assigned to Class 3 of Grade 1, while Shi Ning was assigned to Class 4 of Grade 1.

Shi An walked into Class 3's classroom. The classroom was neatly arranged with desks and chairs, and the blackboard was clean.

The homeroom teacher was a middle-aged woman wearing black-rimmed glasses, her eyes conveying both gentleness and sternness. "Class, this is our new student, Shi An. Let's welcome him."

The homeroom teacher's voice rang out in the classroom.

The students applauded. Shi An walked up to the podium somewhat shyly and said softly, "Hello everyone, my name is Shi An. I'm very happy to be your classmate."

After class, Shi An sat nervously in his seat. He was in an unfamiliar environment and had no playmates. He didn't dare to greet the other students, fearing they would laugh at him for coming from the countryside.

Just then, a chubby-faced little boy ran over, smiling, and said, "Shi An, my name is Li Gang, let's go out and play together."

Shi An looked up and saw Li Gang's sincere smile, and the tension in her heart immediately dissipated.

"Is it really possible?"

"What's the big deal? If you're a boy, stop whining! It's a waste, let's go!"

Although Li Gang looked very tall and strong and spoke very fiercely, Shi An felt that he was much better than her aunt's brother.

Immediately, he stood up and followed Li Gang to the playground. On the playground, children were playing various simple games, such as throwing beanbags and jumping rope.

Shi An quickly joined them. In the beanbag toss game, although he was a little flustered at first, he gradually mastered the skills and cooperated better and better with his classmates.

His laughter echoed across the playground, his face beaming with joy, and he successfully made several new friends. Meanwhile, in Class 4, Shi Ning was also trying to adapt to the new environment.

His deskmate was a little girl with a ponytail named Lin Yue.

Lin Yue took the initiative to strike up a conversation with Shi Ning: "Hello, my name is Lin Yue, where are you from?"

Shi Ning replied, "My mother and I just moved to the military compound with my father."

The two quickly struck up a conversation, from their favorite toys to funny stories about their homes.

In class, Shi Ning actively answered the teacher's questions. Her intelligence and excellent performance won the teacher's praise and also made her classmates look at her with new respect.

During recess, Lin Yue pulled Shi Ning to a corner of the campus where there was a big tree and some pebbles under it. "Let's play a game of catching pebbles."

Lin Yue suggested. Shi Ning looked at the pebbles curiously and followed Lin Yue to learn the rules of the game.

At first, she couldn't catch the stones well, but she didn't give up. After a few attempts, she was able to play the game of catching stones skillfully.

During this process, several more classmates joined them. Shi Ning chatted and laughed with everyone and gradually integrated into this new small group.

When the school bell rang, Qin Yishen and Jiang Man were already waiting at the school gate.

Shi An and Shi Ning, carrying their schoolbags, skipped and hopped out of the school gate.

Shi An said excitedly, "Dad, Mom, I had so much fun at school today! I made lots of friends and played so many games."

Shi Ning also said, "Me too. My deskmate Lin Yue is so nice. We even play jacks together."

Jiang Man smiled and patted the children's heads: "That's good, but you have to do your homework first when you get home."

Qin Yishen picked up the two children and placed them on the back of the bicycle. The family rode towards the military compound, bathed in the afterglow of the setting sun.

Back at their home in the military compound, the children eagerly put down their schoolbags and began telling Qin Yishen about their school experiences.

Jiang Man, wearing an apron, was busy in her kitchen, the flames on the stove leaping merrily, reflecting her focused face.

She skillfully chopped the vegetables, the cutting board making rhythmic sounds.

The oil in the pan was already hot. Jiang Man put the chopped scallions, ginger, and garlic into the pan, and instantly, a spicy and tempting aroma filled the air.

Next, she poured the tender slices of meat into the pot and stir-fried them quickly. The meat slices changed color rapidly under the high temperature, making a sizzling sound, and the oil seeped out, blending perfectly with the seasonings and emitting a rich meaty aroma.

In the casserole dish beside them, the fish soup was bubbling and simmering, the milky white soup constantly boiling, and the delicious aroma of fish gradually spreading.

Jiang Man then put the washed greens into another pot to blanch them. The bright greens softened quickly in the hot water, and their fresh aroma neutralized the rich meat and fish smells in the kitchen, making the overall flavor more complex and harmonious.

As the various dishes were gradually cooked, the aroma of dinner, a blend of meat, fish, and vegetables, grew increasingly rich and mellow, wafting out of the kitchen, through the windows, and permeating every corner of the military compound.

Mrs. Zhang from next door was tidying up in the yard when the enticing aroma wafted into her nostrils, making her peek out and exclaim, "Xiaoman, your cooking smells amazing!"

The voice, filled with admiration and envy, echoed in the courtyard.

Hearing the call, Jiang Man smiled and replied, "Sister Zhang, come and have a taste in a bit."

Sister-in-law Zhang quickly waved her hand: "No, no, I can tell it's delicious just by the smell. Your cooking skills are absolutely amazing."
