Chapter 76 I love you

Qin Yishen stood in the slightly cramped kitchen, feeling both nervous and expectant.

He knew that his cooking skills were not as good as Jiang Man's, but in the countless times Jiang Man was busy at the stove, he would take the initiative to help out whenever he had time.

From handing over seasonings and washing and chopping vegetables to helping with plating, he gradually accumulated a lot of cooking experience and insights through these daily collaborations.

He started by preparing the braised fish.

He scooped a live fish out of the pool, and the fish struggled in his hand, splashing water everywhere.

Qin Yishen struggled to firmly press the fish onto the cutting board. He picked up the cleaver and clumsily scraped off the fish scales.

Fish scales fell from the knife like silver snowflakes.

Next, he carefully cut open the fish's belly and cleaned its internal organs. Although his movements were not very skillful, he did each step with utmost care.

He then made several cuts on the fish to help it absorb the flavors better.

He heated the oil in a wok, and when the oil began to smoke slightly, he nervously put the fish into the wok. With a "sizzle," oil splattered everywhere, and he quickly dodged to the side, a look of panic on his face.

But he quickly calmed down and focused on flipping the fish with the spatula. As both sides of the fish gradually turned golden brown, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

Next, he added scallions, ginger, and garlic to sauté until fragrant, then poured in soy sauce, cooking wine, and other seasonings, along with an appropriate amount of water. He then covered the pot and let the fish simmer slowly in the pot.

As the temperature rises, the broth in the pot begins to bubble and boil, and the rich aroma gradually fills the kitchen, seeping into every corner, as if announcing to the family the good news that this dish is about to be born.

Next was a stir-fried vegetable dish. Qin Yishen washed a bunch of fresh greens and chopped them into even pieces on the cutting board. He turned on the stove, poured in a little oil, and quickly added the greens to the pan once the oil was hot. The moment the greens touched the hot oil, they sizzled, like the opening of a beautiful concert.

Qin Yishen stirred the vegetables quickly, his spatula constantly turning them in the pan to ensure each piece was heated evenly. He watched as the vegetables softened and became a vibrant, bright green, filling him with a sense of accomplishment.

He sprinkled in some salt and a little chicken bouillon, then stir-fried it a few more times. The crisp sound of the stir-frying seemed to be a cheerful rhythm playing for the dish. Afterward, he scooped the greens out of the pan; their fresh color was like a touch of new green in spring, making one's mouth water.

There was also a dish that the children loved most: sweet and sour pork ribs. Qin Yishen washed the ribs, cut them into small pieces, and blanched them in boiling water to remove any unpleasant smell.

After taking them out, he poured oil into the pot, added rock sugar, and slowly simmered it over low heat to caramelize it.

His eyes were fixed on the rock sugar in the pot, watching it gradually melt and turn into an amber liquid. His focused expression was as if he were completing an extremely important work of art.

Once the rock sugar was cooked, he quickly poured the ribs into the pot and stir-fried them until they were coated with caramel. The ribs, glistening with caramel, took on an enticing color, as if they were wearing a luxurious golden coat.

Next, he added vinegar, soy sauce, cooking wine and other seasonings, continued to stir-fry evenly, then poured in an appropriate amount of water, covered the pot and simmered over low heat.

During the stewing process, he would occasionally lift the lid and turn the ribs to ensure that each piece was cooked until tender and flavorful. As time went on, the aroma of the ribs grew stronger and stronger, and the sweet and sour smell filled the entire kitchen, making everyone's mouths water.

Finally, he began preparing the soup—tomato and egg soup.

He washed the tomatoes, made a cross-shaped cut on the top, blanched them in boiling water for a while, then easily peeled them and cut them into small pieces.

He poured oil into a pot, added chopped scallions and sautéed them until fragrant, then added diced tomatoes and stir-fried until they released their juices. He used a spatula to crush the tomatoes, making the sauce thicker.

Next, he added an appropriate amount of water and brought it to a boil over high heat. While waiting for the water to boil, he cracked the eggs into a bowl and whisked them well. Once the water in the pot was boiling, he slowly poured in the egg mixture, stirring with chopsticks as he poured, creating beautiful egg flowers. The golden egg flowers floated in the red broth, like blooming flowers.

Finally, he added an appropriate amount of salt and sesame oil to taste, and a bowl of delicious tomato and egg soup was ready.

When Qin Yishen brought the three dishes and soup to the table one by one, Jiang Man, Shi An, and Shi Ning were already drawn to the table by the tempting aroma.

When Shi An and Shi Ning saw the table full of dishes, they exclaimed "Wow!" in surprise.

Shi An said with bright eyes, "Dad, that's great! These are all my favorite foods."

Shi Ning clapped her hands happily beside her, saying, "Dad is so amazing!"

Jiang Man looked at the dishes on the table, her heart filled with emotion.

She knew that this was not just a simple meal, but also Qin Yishen's love for his family.

The family sat around the table and began to enjoy this loving dinner.

Qin Yishen looked at everyone somewhat nervously and said, "What I made may not taste as good as what my mother makes, so please bear with it."

Jiang Man looked at him gently and said, "This is already wonderful; every dish is made with heart."

Shi An picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork ribs and put it in his mouth. While chewing, he mumbled, "Delicious. Dad's cooking skills are getting better and better."

The sweet and sour taste of the ribs spread in his mouth, making his eyes squint.

Shi Ning nodded in agreement, her mouth full of green vegetables, a happy smile on her face, and said, "These green vegetables are delicious, they're sweet."

In this warm atmosphere, everyone enjoyed the delicious food and shared interesting stories from the day.

Looking at his family's contented expressions, Qin Yishen felt a surge of happiness and satisfaction. He knew that in this family, love was not just expressed in words, but also manifested in the companionship, dedication, and understanding they shared in the ordinary moments of daily life.

He will continue to work hard in the future to create more beautiful memories for his family and let the warmth of this family last forever.

After dinner, the children volunteered to help clear the dishes, while Jiang Man and Qin Yishen sat on the sofa, watching the children's busy figures and smiling at each other.

Jiang Man said softly, "You've worked hard today. I didn't expect you to be able to cook such a delicious meal."

Qin Yishen held her hand and said, "As long as you like it, I can do more in the future."

"It would be best not to say you don't have time tomorrow and then try to shirk your responsibilities."

Qin Yi looked at Jiang Man with deep affection, unaware that their relationship and feelings had undergone a qualitative change.

But there's no doubt he's very happy now.

He gently kissed Jiang Man on the head, immediately earning a puzzled look from her.

Qin Yishen smiled and said, "Have I never told you that I love you?"
