Chapter 16 Punishment
The temperature in the Scottish Highlands was very low at night in September. As soon as Harry got out of the car, he felt a cold wind blowing on his face, penetrating into his bones.

"It's so cold." Ron's teeth were chattering.

"First-year students, over here!" A familiar voice rang out, "Come here, oh Harry, I see you, are you okay?"

"It's Hagrid," Harry said to Ron, and then waved his hand high: "Hagrid, I'm here!"

Hagrid's tall figure was very conspicuous. He smiled kindly, waved at Harry, and said to the children, "Are there any first-year students? Come with me. I'll take you to school -"

This was not the first time Harry had walked this road. It was slippery, muddy, and covered with thorns. It was said to be the same road that the four giants had walked when they founded Hogwarts. It allowed the freshmen to feel the hardships that their predecessors had gone through in establishing the school from scratch.

Remember the bitter past and cherish the sweet present.

"Turn the corner and you'll see Hogwarts soon." Hagrid said loudly. "Come, there's a lake ahead. We're going to take a boat over there. Four people per boat. Remember this. You can discuss your groups now."

Harry pulled Ron and looked back, and Hermione came up to him, followed by a fat boy holding a toad.

"Harry, Ron, this is Neville." Hermione introduced the two and said to Neville, "Harry helped find your toad."

"Thank you, Mr. Potter." Neville thanked Harry a little stiffly.

"It's okay, just call me Harry." Harry smiled warmly at Neville.

Neville just felt that Harry was like a little sun, which not only dispelled his fear but also took away his coldness.

"Let's go, the four of us are in one boat?" Ron put his arms around Harry's neck and invited Hermione and Neville.

"Okay, there are four of us." Hermione responded, but then muttered in a low voice: "I just don't know if we will be expelled..."

"Don't worry Hermione, we just used a levitation spell on the showman, it's not..."

Harry originally wanted to say Avada Kedavra, but suddenly felt that it was not appropriate.

"What?" Neville asked puzzledly.

"The Alaho hole is open." Harry quickly changed the subject. "Well, let's catch up quickly. We have to get on the boat together."

No one suspected him, after all, students of this age... definitely didn't know what Avada Kedavra was.

The temperature on the lake was three degrees colder than when they got off the car. Maybe it was because of the humid air, but the little wizards on the boat all tightened their robes, trying to resist the encroaching cold air.

I didn't wait until the ship docked until I felt I had finally gotten through this.

Everyone followed Hagrid until they reached a large door.

"Wait here, it will be soon..."

Before Hagrid could finish his words, the door opened and a witch with a serious look and wearing a dark green robe walked out.

It's Professor McGonagall.

"The new students have been delivered, Professor McGonagall," Hagrid said to Professor McGonagall.

Professor McGonagall nodded and replied, "Leave it to me, Hagrid, I'll take them into the castle." Hagrid waved at Harry, turned and left the gate.

"First-year students, follow me." Professor McGonagall said to the freshmen.

The freshmen followed Professor McGonagall into the castle and came to a small house.

"Welcome to Hogwarts," she said. "The start-of-term feast is about to begin, but before you take your seats in the dining hall, you must first determine which house you will be admitted to. Sorting is a very important ceremony, because during your time at school, the house is like your home in Hogwarts. You will attend classes with other students in the house, live in the house dormitory together, and spend your spare time in the common room of the house together."

"The names of the four houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own glorious history and has produced outstanding wizards and witches. During your time at Hogwarts, your outstanding performance will earn your house extra points, while any violations will cause your house to lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the highest score will receive the house cup, which is a great honor - I hope that no matter which house you are assigned to, you can win glory for your house.

"In a few minutes, the sorting ceremony will be held in front of all the teachers and students of the school. I suggest that you tidy up and be energetic while waiting."

At this point, her eyes moved over Neville's cloak, and then glanced at Harry, Ron and Hermione respectively.

"Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley and Miss Granger, please follow me," she said, looking at Draco again, "and Mr. Malfoy."

Hermione's body softened when she heard Professor McGonagall's words.

"Oh my god, Harry, oh my god..."

She cried, "We are going to be fired..."

Draco heard Hermione crying and laughed shrilly twice.

Harry looked in the direction of the voice and saw Draco mouthing the word "Mudblood" to Hermione.

This kid really deserves a beating, he thought to himself, but the most urgent thing was to find a way to get away with this.

"Hermione, don't be afraid." Ron was still comforting Hermione: "Even if you are expelled, you still have Harry and I to accompany you, right?"

Hermione cried even louder at this.

After a while, the four were taken into a small room.

There were four people sitting inside. Harry recognized one of them at a glance. It was Dumbledore, whom he had seen in the chocolate picture. Sitting on his left was a short man in a formal suit with a bow tie on his collar. Next to him was a fat witch who was dressed very simply with a few green leaves on her body.

On Dumbledore's right sat a wizard with greasy hair and a hooked nose.

Harry noticed that the wizard was obviously stunned when he saw him, and then stared at his face expressionlessly. His intuition told him that the wizard didn't seem to like his face very much.

Have I ever offended him? he muttered to himself.

"I think the matter is clear," the wizard spoke first, "Mr. Potter cast a curse on his classmates on the train, and Miss Granger and Mr. Weasley were his accomplices-"

Hermione suddenly gave a loud sob.

"Relax, Severus." Dumbledore's eyes flickered behind his half-moon glasses. He smiled at Harry and said, "Why don't we ask Harry and the other three? It's wrong to believe one side of the story."
