Harry returns from Hogwarts Legacy
Chapter 297 The Death Eaters must be eradicated, but not all of them.
Chapter 297 The Death Eaters must be eradicated, but not all of them.
Almost instantly, Harry activated his self-defense mechanism.
However, the attack was not aimed at Harry's body, but at his mental defenses.
Suddenly, Harry felt a darkness before his eyes, and then he found himself in the sun-drenched Hogwarts Valley.
What's going on? Shouldn't it be nighttime? How come there's sunshine?
He then realized that he had probably been subjected to a mental attack, and that someone had invaded his mental world!
With this in mind, he is no longer in a hurry.
His spiritual world, enhanced by ancient magic, is where he is God; in simple terms, he is the GM of his own little spiritual world.
Cheating? Cheating doesn't even begin to describe it.
He began to carefully search his mental world, trying to find out where the intruder was.
Sure enough, not long after, he found a hooded figure on the shore of the Black Lake in the Hogwarts Valley in the spiritual world.
It looks somewhat familiar.
The moment he had a thought, the figure appeared before him.
"Harry Potter..."
The soft voice rang out, and the more Harry listened, the more familiar it sounded.
"Who are you...?" he asked uncertainly.
"You don't even recognize your old friends? That's really sad, Potter..." The figure chuckled, reaching down to remove her hood, revealing a charming and lovely face.
It's Voldemort in a male-female version.
Oh my god, it should be called Melop.
Harry's lips twitched; he really couldn't understand why this version of Tom would maintain this form.
"I mean, have you completely changed your gender?" he asked curiously.
“Yes, changing gender is not a difficult thing for a wizard.” Voldemort… no, Miss Merop chuckled. “Moreover, being a woman can help me to better cover up, make people lower their guard, and even make them willingly let me do whatever I want. This is much more satisfying than controlling others with the Imperius Curse.”
Harry fell silent.
He remained silent, unsure of what to say.
After a long pause, he finally managed to squeeze out, "You're really twisted these days..."
“Twisted?” Miss Meloop chuckled softly. “Perhaps, but it is certainly an unexpected path…”
With that, she lifted her robe, revealing two fair and shapely legs—but that wasn't the point; the point was the two weapons strapped to her legs.
One is long, and one is short.
"What's that?" Harry asked with interest.
“This,” Miss Merop drew the two weapons and combined them into a scythe, “the Grim Reaper’s scythe. Haven’t you ever seen something like this before?”
With that, she swung her scythe, and the surrounding space seemed to be cleaved apart by the scythe.
But it didn't.
Miss Merop exclaimed in surprise, clearly not expecting that the Grim Reaper's scythe, which could even tear apart space, couldn't sever the mental world of Harry, a mere wizard.
"I'm curious, why did you return to Hogwarts, and to England?"
Harry wasn't in a hurry. He had already sensed the power of that scythe of death—it might be very strong, but this was my world.
"As far as I know, Voldemort seems to dislike you very much and holds a grudge against you for what you did to him. Your main soul is petty, you should know that... Some time ago, he even discussed with me about joining forces to deal with you."
“Is that so?” Miss Merop narrowed her crimson eyes. “But you should also know that we are essentially the same person. How could I not know what he is thinking? In fact, if it weren’t for that fool giving you this illusion, I wouldn’t have been able to succeed so easily.”
"So what are you planning to do next?" Harry asked leisurely, "After you've solved this problem for me."
“Devour him.” Miss Melop smiled strangely. “Such good nourishment, such a good opportunity, if you don’t cherish it, you’ll be despised by Merlin…”
“You two seem to have a really good relationship,” Harry said. “But have you ever considered that he’s actually setting a trap for you behind your back?”
"is it?"
Miss Merop brandished the Grim Reaper's scythe. "In any case, you'll be the first to meet death... So, Harry, can you tell me what kind of death you'd like?"
“I want to die of old age,” Harry said decisively.
“You’re being naughty, Harry,” Miss Merop waved her scythe. “Naughty children get punished…”
With that, she swung her sickle downwards.
Nothing happened.
Immediately afterwards, she discovered that the scythe in her hand had suddenly appeared in Harry's hand.
“Your scythe is nice,” Harry said with a grin, holding the scythe. “But now it’s mine!”
"What?!" Miss Merop was clearly not expected that Harry would take his scythe, and do so so quietly.
It's important to know that the Grim Reaper's scythe is immune to magical attacks and can even counteract the Avada Kedavra Curse!
But how could this seemingly ordinary fourth-grade student in front of me manage to steal the Grim Reaper's scythe so quietly?
Miss Melop was having some existential questions.
No way, this is fourth grade?
It's not entirely Miss Merop's fault, after all, she left Hogwarts in her first year and had no chance to experience Harry's terror, and Voldemort simply didn't share this information with her.
This led Miss Melop to think of him as "just a slightly stronger fourth-year student," and even to look down on the fluctuating Magician.
Damn it, you're useless! You can't even handle one child? You're asking for trouble!
“Obviously,” Harry said with a smile to the bewildered Miss Merop, “Voldemort not only deceived you, but also refused to share the most important information with you… Perhaps, I can interpret it this way: he wanted to use me to kill you and get rid of this menace for him.”
“That’s impossible,” Miss Melop said indignantly. “Things aren’t settled yet, how could he do that!”
“But that’s just how it is. Well, my patience is running out.” Harry twirled the Death Scythe with a flourish and said to Miss Merop with a grin, “It seems that old saying by Seris is indeed true. As the saying goes, ‘If you are born a son, you raise him to be a daughter.’ I wonder what Merop Gaunt’s feelings will be when she sees that her son has now turned into a daughter—oh, and she has inherited her mother’s name, hahaha…” Miss Merop took a deep breath. She admitted that she was a little overwhelmed.
“But you can’t kill me, Harry.” A red glint flashed in her eyes. “Perhaps you can erase me from your mental world, but you can’t kill me…”
"Why?" Harry asked calmly.
“You don’t think I didn’t make a Horcrux, do you?” Miss Merop scoffed. “Of course, perhaps it can’t be called a Horcrux, um… Anyway, you can make your move now. This time, I admit my failure.”
“Can I ask you a few questions?” Harry asked.
"Ask away, whether I answer or not depends on my mood," Miss Merop said with a sly smile.
"What exactly are you stirring up regarding your affairs in America?" Harry asked, squinting.
"No comment," Miss Merop replied quickly.
“We’re friends, Merop,” Harry continued. “Death’s scythes are hot commodities, and the fact that you managed to get your hands on one means you must have some powerful connections… So, tell me about it, how about… Legilims!”
However, he read nothing; there was only a blank page.
It seems that Merope cleared his own mind before invading Harry's mental world.
“You cannot read my mind!” Miss Merop sneered repeatedly, clearly adopting a nonviolent, non-cooperative attitude.
Harry didn't waste any words with her. In a flash, Miss Merop turned to ashes in his mental world.
Then, he withdrew from the mental world, still holding the Grim Reaper's scythe in his hand.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Vivi's concerned gaze.
"How are you, Harry? How are you feeling?"
“I feel pretty good,” Harry said with a grin, handing the Grim Reaper’s scythe to Vivi. “Look, this is my spoils of war—it’s said to be the scythe that Death used to use.”
“Very good.” Vivi didn’t even glance at the scythe, but instead cupped Harry’s face in her hands and asked softly, “Are you really alright, Harry? You just fainted, I was so scared…”
“It’s nothing,” Harry said, patting his chest. “It was just some mental attack. Merope… oh, you know, the part of Voldemort that escaped invaded my mind, and I killed him. It’s that simple.”
"Is it really that simple?" Vivi asked.
“Of course.” Harry smiled, turned his head, and found himself lying on a warm bed.
Looking up, he saw the Milky Way.
"Where are we?" Harry asked.
“Great Hungerton.” Dumbledore’s voice came from the side, holding a pendant in his hand.
It's a Slytherin pendant.
"Is this Voldemort's Horcrux?" Harry asked with interest.
“Yes,” Dumbledore sighed, “but Voldemort escaped, leaving only this Horcrux that has lost its soul fragment. I think he must have absorbed his own soul fragment and escaped again.”
“It’s not impossible,” Harry said to Dumbledore. “But that’s not the point. What about his Death Eater minions?”
“Not a single one escaped. I’ve already summoned the Aurors to capture them,” Dumbledore said with a chuckle. “What a spectacle, Harry. The Death Eaters have been almost wiped out… Well, for now, even if only Voldemort escaped, it’s acceptable. After all, if only Voldemort is left, the trouble he can cause will be much smaller than if he were leading a group of Death Eaters.”
That's true," Harry nodded in agreement.
Having acquired a scythe of death and received news of Merope Riddle's return, it's definitely not a bad deal.
“I’m trying to access Merope’s memories in the mind space,” Harry said again, “but I only get a blank page. Why is that?”
“Perhaps it’s because that’s not his main soul,” Vivi said, then realized she’d said something wrong and asked, “Should I have said ‘he’ or ‘she’?”
“She,” Harry said, shrugging. “Merlop told me that it’s incredibly easy for wizards to switch genders. She’s tired of living as a man, and living as a woman, where she can easily hide herself, is the life she wants.”
"Disgusting," Vivi said with disgust.
“Well then,” Harry said, getting out of bed, which then turned into an inconspicuous little stone, “I think we should go back now, right? Everyone must be getting impatient. Where’s the Triwizard Tournament trophy?
“It’s over there,” Dumbledore said, pointing to the trophy. “It’s still in Portkey form. If you pick it up again, it will teleport you to the center of the arena.”
Finally, Dumbledore said again, "I think I need to give Fudge a brief account of what happened today. Whether he believes it or not, he should know that Voldemort has returned."
“I suggest you take those Death Eaters and speak with Rita Skeeter,” Harry said with a mysterious smile. “I think Ms. Skeeter would be very interested in these Death Eaters, don’t you think, Professor Dumbledore?”
Professor Dumbledore glanced back at Harry and nodded with a smile.
Harry is right; sometimes the power of the media is the real, unseen hand.
This battle did indeed yield some results, as Voldemort lost another Horcrux, which is certainly something to be happy about.
After Dumbledore left, Harry suddenly looked at Vivi and asked, "Wait a minute, I remember you were prepared, so why did you let Voldemort escape?"
“Oh…” Vivi suddenly turned her face away and said vaguely, “I think you should go back quickly, Harry, don’t keep everyone waiting too long…”
“Vivi!” Harry said seriously, “I want to know what just happened. Don’t hide anything from me, okay?”
Vivi turned her head, her violet eyes looking tenderly at Harry.
"Alright, since you asked..."
"After discussion, we all agreed that the best option was not to completely eradicate Voldemort."
"Why?" Harry asked, puzzled, though he already had a basic answer in his mind.
“The Death Eaters must be eradicated, but not all of them,” Vivi said with a slight smile. “I think Mr. Malfoy must have taught you this principle, right? It’s also part of political science.”
Harry suddenly realized that he remembered the lesson Mr. Septimus had given him, which seemed to be called "Raising an enemy to enhance one's own prestige".
“You political players all have dirty hearts…” he said with a sigh.
