Chapter 655 The Knight in the Nightmare
Chapter 655 The Knight in the Nightmare (Part 7)
Grand Duchy Meyers Estate
This manor, located in the southwest of the heart of the Flor Empire, on the edge of the Meyers province, is a name that speaks volumes about who holds absolute power in this land.
Even the emperor of the empire wouldn't interfere here.
This province was always solemn, free from external enemies and internal troubles.
What's interesting is that part of Meyers Estate is located in another province. This is not because Grand Duke Meyers was greedy, but because the Grand Duke's 'estate' was too big.
It was so large that an army of tens of thousands could easily fit inside without being detected.
Standing on the balcony of Meyers Castle, Grand Duke Meyers looked down at the tens of thousands of soldiers below, all dressed in uniform armor and weapons, their proud violet banners fluttering in the breeze.
"His Majesty the Emperor would never allow us to do such a thing."
"Columbus?"
Chrysus's only flaw is that he is too proper, which Grand Duke Meyers doesn't particularly like.
“Thirty years ago, I personally conquered the Northwind Province. He showed an indifferent attitude because he himself did not want the Northwind Province. For the vast empire, the land of the Northwind Province was too superfluous.”
“He would be angry because he feared that his title as emperor of the empire would be tainted, but by then, we had already succeeded.”
“I will not give him the time and opportunity to stop me, this is for Meyers.”
“Our bloodline is born noble and possesses extraordinary power. This is the benefit of blasphemy, and I must get rid of the price of blasphemy before I die.”
"The huge hidden dangers in Meyers' bloodline cannot be left for you to solve."
"Grand Duke Meyers said coldly, his eyes deep and dark, with flames burning in the void. At the same time, the warhorses of the tens of thousands of Nightmare Knights below the castle were also burning with Nightmare Flames."
The dark, deep flames distorted the void, creating a vortex-like path before them. Warhorses trampled through it and vanished.
In the realm of nightmares, only the ruler of fear can roam freely. Thousands upon thousands of nightmare knights raced along this illusory path. They rushed out of Meyers Manor, crossed many provinces of the empire, and in Winged Canyon, the magic arrays that had cost a fortune to inscribe were restless, but they still could not find the existence of the nightmare path in the void.
They raced along their own paths and arrived at the destination the nightmare sought.
……
North Wind Province.
The sky suddenly darkened, the sun disappeared, and large swaths of dark clouds covered the dome. Many people thought a downpour was imminent, but in the North Wind Province, it had always only snowed and never rained.
It was discovered that a large number of silent knights had begun to appear across the Northwind Province. They rode tall warhorses and silently advanced in one direction from all directions.
Some tried to approach but were stopped; the power of each knight was insufficient to resist them.
"These are the troops from the Frozen Territory. They've appeared here?"
It was certainly wrong for a noble army to appear rashly in another noble territory, but not a single noble stood up to condemn it, silently watching the soldiers arrive and then leave.
"War?"
The nobles were filled with trepidation, guessing that they probably knew something about the situation, and that's why they were uneasy, because they knew which bloodline and surname was on the other side of the war.
Many years ago, they participated in the war and were on the winning side, understanding the power of the victors.
Many years later, they are still in this war, but it is unknown whether they will still be on the side of the victors.
The nobles no longer have the same room for choice as before.
They could only wait for the outcome of the war.
Red Wing Plain.
Beneath this land lie the remains of many wyverns, but with the war that brought forth legendary metal dragons, showcasing the terror of alchemists, this land lost its original legendary stories.
The Crimson Wing Plains have lost their former crimson hue; the desolate land still bears the remnants of ashes. Vast swathes of nightmare flames burn here, and the bards sing a new story because of it.
A story that hasn't happened yet, but they've already seen the ending.
Boom! ! !
A deafening rumble of thunder echoed from the depths of the dark clouds, but no lightning was seen arriving.
A deep black crack appeared on the earth's surface, expanding to both sides until it covered all the land, exposing the scene inside the crack to this desolate wasteland.
Within it was a winding path like a river, with thousands of eyes extending into the depths of the void rift. Accompanied by the clattering of hooves, the outlines of dark nightmare warhorses emerged. They cheered and leaped high, then galloped out of the rift and landed on the land of the North Wind Province.
Majestic and terrifying Nightmare Knights, wielding broadswords, stood on Redwing Plains. The first, the second... thousands upon thousands appeared, lined up in perfect formation, bringing unparalleled pressure to this desolate land.
The North Wind seemed to still remember their power; the moment the Nightmare Knight Legion appeared, the clouds in the sky grew even darker, and not a single ray of light could be brought down from the gloomy overhead.
The Nightmare Knight Legion stood silently in place.
It wasn't because they lacked goals and direction, but because their enemy had been waiting for them for thousands of meters ahead.
Huhuhu~
The banners fluttered in the wind, and a tall, majestic mountain peak resembling a rhinoceros horn could be vaguely seen. Behind each knight was a banner half a meter high. Thousands of horses silently reined in their horses and stopped in this wilderness, leaving only the whistling of the banners.
The most uneasy were the armored bears standing at the front. They were restless, rubbing their hands together, with blood flowing from the corners of their mouths—the juice of flesh and blood.
Redwing Plains were flat and level. At this moment, two extraordinary armies stood silently on either side, the banners of Violet Flower and Rhinoceros Horn Mountain fluttering in the sky. There were no words, no eye contact. Whether they were knights of the Stag Legion or Nightmare Knights, they simply stood still, their horses reined in.
Brand raised his head, and his resolute face no longer showed the naivety of the past. He was still young, but he was already very mature.
Raising his hand, he covered his face with the mask, revealing only a pair of cold eyes beneath the ferocious and terrifying mask. On either side, Bogeld excitedly put on the metal mask, while Egil frantically put on the wolf bone mask. The three giant wolves bared their teeth, their limbs already tense.
Above their heads, a cloud of mist quietly dispersed, and golden sunlight, like a sharp sword, pierced the center of the two armies.
It brought a moment of blindness, causing all the soldiers to lose their sight in that instant, and the earth trembled as a result.
In the void, only the cold, grating sound of friction remained—the collision of sharp and smooth metal surfaces—as the Bucks launched their charge from the side bathed in sunlight.
On the other side, the Nightmare Knight army was also advancing fiercely on the other side of the sunlight.
Warhorses trample the wilderness, freezing the wild grass before crushing it; or they ignite it with black flames, causing it to wither instantly.
Those were two transcendent forces, two pure cavalry legions, launching an absolute charge on their respective fronts.
The dark clouds in the sky moved quickly, and the golden sunlight became thinner and thinner until the last ray of golden sunlight was also blocked by the dark clouds. The two extraordinary cavalry forces that were originally a thousand meters apart were now very close.
Brand swept his lance, shattering the Nightmare Knight's armor and piercing through his body. The power of his Sanctuary blood erupted, directly shattering the Nightmare Knight's flesh. Beneath him, the Northern Warhorse, covered in armor, crashed directly into the Nightmare Warhorse's head.
The force of a thousand or ten thousand pounds was unleashed in a tenth of a second, and at that moment, thousands upon thousands of knights on both sides were affected.
The nightmare aura shattered, the warhorse was torn to pieces, and the knight became mincemeat under the iron hooves. The nightmare knight who survived was covered in black mist, forcibly restoring his disordered internal organs.
The northern fog circulated, gathering and dispersing, and the tall northern warhorses shed cold, crimson blood. Soldiers of the Buck Legion gritted their teeth, letting the blood seep into the gaps in their armor, and struggled to their feet from their horses.
rub!
Both knights drew their longswords, their cold gleam shining under the dim sky, and resolutely charged toward their opponent, who was now within arm's reach.
"kill!"
Knights clashed swords, their extraordinary combat skills collided, and strength, speed, ferocity, and fearlessness were the demanding conditions for victory, which neither side lacked.
In a war with no retreat, every knight dies by the enemy's sword, and every warhorse perishes in the charge.
The roar of the armored war bear was the battle horn. As its massive claws fell, the Nightmare Knight's armor shattered, and large chunks of flesh were torn off. As the Knight staggered, the armored bear's gaping maw snapped at him, its teeth piercing through the hard metal in an instant. The bear's head-shaking motion hastened the Nightmare Knight's death.
Only after the opponent was completely dead did the armored bear finally grinn, throw away the corpse, and bite at the Nightmare Knight next to it.
The longsword pierced the armored bear's claws, sealing it in agony. The warrior on the armored bear's back drew his dagger and leaped down, pouncing on the Nightmare Knight who had launched the sneak attack. The two grappled together, rolling around in each other's arms a dozen times. The armored bear warrior then mounted the Nightmare Knight's corpse, letting out a bloodthirsty roar as he raised his dagger to proclaim his glory.
Amidst the cries of glory, a jet-black longsword swept across, severing the head of the armored bear warrior. A jet of blood gushed out, reaching a height of seven or eight meters into the sky. The Nightmare Knight kicked aside the five corpses and coldly charged toward the armored bear, which was pinned to the spot.
From all directions, knights' longswords pierced the armored bear's weak points. Amidst painful howls, the armored bear furiously swatted away several Nightmare Knights before collapsing powerlessly.
The Nightmare Knights, sent flying, struggled to control their bodies. Their insides were churning like a sea, their internal organs severely damaged by the immense force. The Nightmare power within them was not adept at healing, so naturally, these Nightmare Knights were unable to control their bodies in mid-air and collapsed heavily onto the ground, amidst a pool of blood and gore.
This was a Northern warhorse that had fallen during a charge and been trampled into a bloody pulp. Just as the Nightmare Knight was struggling to get up from this pool of blood, a knight's longsword suddenly slashed down from behind.
Unable to break through the defenses, the immense force forced the Nightmare Knight to his knees again. He had no chance to turn around, as the stag squire behind him arrived, kicking him to the ground and then thrusting his longsword straight down into the Nightmare Knight's back.
The moment the stag squire withdrew his longsword, he raised it and placed it on his shoulder. Another Nightmare Knight's longsword slashed down from the side, the heavy force denting his armor. The metal pressed against the flesh beneath the armor and collided directly with his bones.
Kneeling on one knee, the stag servant desperately blocked the Nightmare Longsword that was slashing down at him. Then, with a roar, his blood and qi surged once more, and he stood up, sweeping his sword at the Nightmare Knight opposite him.
This was another unfortunate soul who was sent flying by the armored bear. The stag servant's strength surpassed his, and as he staggered backward, he could no longer stand. He was stabbed through the abdomen by a sword, and the eyes under the stag's mask stared intently at the Nightmare Knight until he was completely dead.
Turning around, the stag servant was about to face the third enemy, but he couldn't react in time. One of his shoulder bones was broken, and the movement of raising his arm felt so long and stiff. He had only just raised it halfway in the air when the third Nightmare Knight had already severed his arm and then plunged it into the bleeding shoulder wound.
Both sides were exceptional knights armed to the teeth. Their armor could withstand a lot of damage. In order to deal a fatal blow to the enemy, they had to learn to create their own weaknesses.
Both of these extraordinary legions possess such combat qualities.
The severed shoulder was unarmored, and a sharp longsword pierced through the stag squire, causing him to cough up blood. Even the strongest blood and qi within him could not hold on any longer, and his visor fell off, revealing a rough face that bit down on the Nightmare Knight's shoulder.
He had no power; all he could do was leave a bloody mark on the cold armor.
The Nightmare Knight shoved him aside, turned around and looked around. They had the upper hand, but soon, no one could laugh anymore.
They were all knights who had fallen during the first charge between the two sides; they were only a small fraction of the thousands who had been involved in the collision.
Brandler turned his horse around. He had lost many cavalrymen behind him, but that didn't matter. As all the Buck Legion's warhorses readjusted their direction in a frenzy, they once again saw the Nightmare Knight Legion, which had suffered equally heavy losses.
"charge!!!"
"For Ryan's glory!"
With banners waving, the two massive cavalry legions once again launched a fearless charge towards each other, and in their path lay the very soldiers who had fallen in the first battle.
They had nowhere to hide.
They fought fiercely, men and horses falling to the ground. At this moment, regardless of the outcome or who had the upper hand on the ground, the surviving knights would face the trampling of two extraordinary cavalry legions.
On the blood-soaked battlefield, there were more Nightmare Knights standing still. Feeling the ground tremble beneath their feet, they looked up and saw once again, close at hand, the densely packed cavalry of the Stag Legion charging toward them at absolute speed.
boom! ! !
They lived only a few minutes longer than the corpses on the ground.
