The Heavens Start to Reverse Fate from Martial Arts

Chapter 124 What is Wisdom? What is Root?

Chapter 124 What is Wisdom? What is Root?
Tianlong Temple, Zen temple.

In the middle of the emerald green bamboo forest, there is a simple Zen room, with a faint sandalwood scent lingering in the air, which is refreshing to the lungs.

Inside the Zen room, a pale yellow light shines softly, and dappled sunlight shines through the window, with light and shadow interweaving, creating a tranquil and distant atmosphere. A Taoist sits quietly on a cushion, his aura vague, as if he does not exist in this world.

Outside the Zen room.

Duan Yu was dressed in a white shirt, with a jade-like appearance, bright and gentle. He tiptoed to the side of the Zen room door, peered into the room, his eyes filled with fear and curiosity.

"Prince Zhennan...are you looking for me for something?"

Duan Yu was startled by these abrupt words. He stumbled and fell in front of the door. He hurriedly got up and lowered his head and said nervously:

“Master…Master…, I…I have no intention of disturbing you, it’s just…just…just…” He stuttered and couldn’t make any sense after talking for a long time.

Duan Yu shrank his head, closed his left eye tightly, squinted his right eye, and looked cautiously at the Taoist in the room.

After seeing the Taoist's face clearly, he muttered in his heart: Oh, what a handsome Taoist. How could he be as vicious as the uncles and uncles said? With such a good-looking appearance, it can be seen that he is a gentle and true Taoist.

Wang Yi looked at Duan Yu's timid look and couldn't help laughing: "I think I have a decent appearance, why does the Prince of Zhennan look like this?"

As he spoke, he looked at Duan Yu with strange eyes. He was one of the three great fortune protagonists of Tian Long. He had Buddha nature and did not like martial arts, but he had many adventures and love tribulations in his life.

Life experience perfectly illustrates...what it means to want something but not get it.

Duan Yu felt relieved when he heard the Taoist's words. He scratched his head in embarrassment, folded his hands and bowed, saying, "Master, please don't blame me. I just... just... yes, I just came here out of curiosity."

"Oh? Really?" Wang Yi smiled indifferently, stood up and asked, "Master Ku Rong, what are they doing?"

"Ah? The uncles and aunts are preparing to shave Uncle Ming's head. Do you want to go and watch the ceremony, Taoist?" Duan Yu stood up blankly.

Wang Yi pondered for a moment, nodded and said: "The interesting people should have arrived... We should go and see..." Then he walked out of the Zen room and walked slowly towards the Muni Hall.

Jiumozhi, as the Tubo national teacher, was of great use to him. If he could make good use of this person, it would be of great help to many subsequent plans.

Duan Yu hurriedly followed and asked curiously, "Master, what interesting person?"

"A person who is trapped in the obstacles of martial arts and knowledge and views may be able to speak eloquently about Buddhist principles, but he is still guilty of greed, anger, and ignorance..."

"Who are you talking about, Taoist? Since he is well versed in Buddhist principles, he should be well aware of the harms of greed, anger, and ignorance. How could he betray Buddhist principles like this?" Duan Yu looked confused.

"Knowing is one thing, doing is another. There are very few people in the world who can combine knowledge and action. It can even be said that there are none at all. Even I... cannot practice the unity of knowledge and action thoroughly."

"The unity of knowledge and action? What the Taoist said is very profound..."

"These are not my words, but the words of the Holy One..."

The two of them walked one after the other, asked and answered each other, and soon left the Zen temple.

……

"Jiu Mozhi, a junior from the Tibetan state, pays respect to the senior master. There is permanence and impermanence, two trees wither and flourish, north and south, east and west, nothing is false and nothing is empty."

As soon as Wang Yi and Duan Yu arrived outside the Muni Hall, they heard these words full of Buddhist philosophy.

"Huh? What do these four Buddhist sayings mean?" Duan Yu looked thoughtful.

"Your Majesty has come from afar, but I have not come to greet you. I am really disrespectful..."

"I have long admired the mighty name of the Heavenly Dragon. Today I am delighted to see his majestic appearance."

"Please take a seat, Lord Ming."

……

Duan Yu looked at the nine people at the door and was frightened. Most of the nine people at the door looked ferocious and scary, not like people from the Middle-earth. Behind the nine people was a wooden box on the ground. The wooden box was simple and dark, and was tightly covered.

Wang Yi walked past Duan Yu and the nine people at the door and walked into the hall calmly. With his arrival, Master Kurong, Ben Yin, Ben Guan and the other four monks, as well as Duan Zhengming who had just been ordained, all stood up and put their palms together to greet him, saying, "Amitabha, Taoist Master, I wish you great blessings."

Jiumozhi was surprised to see them being so serious, and looked back curiously. He saw a Taoist in green robes walking slowly towards him. He had an elegant face and extraordinary temperament. There seemed to be a mysterious aura lingering around him as he walked. People dared not underestimate him.

Wang Yi stopped, raised his hand and said in return: "May you be blessed with infinite blessings. There is no need to be so polite, masters." He put his hands down and looked at Jiumozhi who was sitting on the cushion with a faint smile.

The man was dressed in a yellow monk's robe, less than fifty years old, cloth clothes and straw sandals. His face was full of energy, as if flowing precious light, and his complexion was gentle, giving people a sense of approachability. He was born with a good appearance.

Jiumozhi concealed the expression on his face, smiled, stood up, put his hands together and said: "Master Taoist, I am Jiumozhi's humble monk.

To be treated with such courtesy by the monks of Tianlong Temple, this person's strength and background must be extraordinary. Thinking of this, he couldn't help but frowned slightly, and secretly raised his vigilance in his heart.

Wang Yi returned the greeting and said, "I am Taiyi, the humble Taoist priest. I am honored to be the guest of Tianlong Temple. I heard that Mahalakaya Vajra King was visiting, so I came to see him out of curiosity."

Master Ku Rong's expression changed, and he secretly winked at the five monks beside him, took a step forward, leaned over and invited them, "Master, please sit down."

Duan Zhengming, Ben Yin, Ben Guan and the other four people understood what was going on when they saw Master Kurong give up his seat.

Wang Yi's eyes moved slightly, he smiled, took a step forward, and sat on the cushion beside Master Kuruo. Borrowing strength to avoid disaster, a good idea. He didn't mind it. Jiumozhi was a person he valued, so he took this opportunity to test him. Master Kuruo bowed again, walked slowly to Benyin's side, and sat down cross-legged on the spot.

Duan Zhengming saw Duan Yu peeking at the door, frowned, and said in a deep voice: "Yu'er, stop messing around, go downstairs and have a good rest."

Duan Yu shrank his head and wanted to retreat, but then he remembered the sword fight that his uncle and his uncle had talked about before. There was a lot of fear of the Great Wheel King in their words, and his uncle's Guanchong sword was newly trained, so he was afraid that he could not defeat the monk in the hall...

Thinking of this, he said nothing, but walked straight into the hall, came to the wooden pillar and stood there, ignoring the looks from his uncles and others.

"Yu'er..."

"Amitabha... Benchen, since the prince is unwilling, just let nature take its course."

Duan Zhengming frowned when he heard Ben Yin's words, and looked away helplessly.

After Jiumozhi sat down, he stared at Wang Yi without blinking, with doubt and solemnity mixed in the depths of his eyes. His mind was turning over and over, guessing the identity and origin of the Taoist in front of him.

Why do the monks of Tianlong Temple respect him so much? Master Ku Rong, who is the most senior and powerful master of Tianlong Temple, even gave up his position for him? Who is he? How can he enjoy such honorable treatment in Tianlong Temple?
"Your Majesty, are you considering my identity? If so, there is no need to do so. I am just a nobody in the world and have no reputation in this secular world." Wang Yi looked at Jiumozhi calmly.

"Hahaha..." Jiumozhi laughed heartily, the sound rumbling inside and outside the Muni Hall, vibrating the beams and tiles, revealing his extraordinary deep internal strength. After laughing, he bowed eleven times and went straight to the point:

"The Buddha said: There is no birth, no death, no dirt, no purity. I am a dull-witted monk, and I have not been able to comprehend the essence of love, hate, life and death. I have a close friend in my life, who is from Gusu, Song Dynasty. His surname is Murong, and his given name is Bo. He has studied all martial arts in the world and is proficient in all of them."

"In the past, I met Mr. Murong by chance. We talked about martial arts and swordplay. After several days of his guidance, all my confusion was resolved. Later, he generously gave me a secret manual of superior martial arts. This kindness is so deep that I will never forget it. Unexpectedly, the great hero died young and passed away. I have a humble request, and I hope the elders will be merciful."

Abbot Ben Yin held the Buddhist beads around his neck, put them together and bowed eleven times, saying, "Amitabha, karma comes and goes, why force it?"

"It's not forced." Jiumozhi said solemnly: "I am a foolish and stubborn monk, lacking wisdom..."

Wang Yi suddenly interrupted and said, "May I ask what wisdom is, Your Majesty?"

When these words came out, not only Jiumozhi was stunned, but also Master Kurong and others. They did not expect that Wang Yi would suddenly ask such a question.

Jiumozhi frowned slightly. Seeing that the monks from Tianlong Temple did not say anything to stop him, he became even more fearful. After thinking for a moment, he slowly said:

"Wisdom is the seed of wisdom that all living beings possess innately. It is not acquired from outside, but is inherent in them. It can produce all good things. Thanks to it, all living beings can hear the Dharma, awaken to wisdom, and understand what is the Buddha nature and fruit of the path."

Wang Yi raised his hand and saluted, then asked again: "What is wisdom? What is root?"

Jiumozhi was surprised. Did this Taoist want to discuss Buddhism with him? After a moment's hesitation, he smiled and said, "Wisdom means the ability to illuminate everything and generate good Dharma, which can achieve all merits and even attain enlightenment. Roots are the roots of a tree. The combination of the two can produce the fruit of Buddha nature. This is the potential of wisdom of all living beings, and also the potential of cultivation of all living beings."

“No…” Wang Yi shook his head slightly and said slowly: “The Buddha said: All sentient beings have the wisdom and virtue of Tathagata, but they cannot realize it because of delusion and attachment. This wisdom root is not something that sentient beings are born with, but the Buddha nature and Tao nature hidden in the hearts of sentient beings. As long as you can let go of your attachments and purify your mind, the wisdom root will naturally appear and emit the light of wisdom.”

Jiumozhi's eyes showed surprise. What the other party said was true. It coincided with what he had learned about Buddhism. This immediately aroused his interest.

"If all sentient beings have wisdom, why are they still trapped in the sea of suffering and unable to escape? If all sentient beings have Buddha nature, why are they still confused by the six desires and unable to be liberated? What do you have to teach me, Taoist priest?"

Wang Yi smiled slightly, the light of wisdom blooming in his eyes, and his words were like glass beads, and every word fell into everyone's heart:
"Wisdom is the nature of Tao and Buddha. It is like a pearl covered by dust. If you don't wipe it, its light will not be visible. All living beings are trapped in the sea of suffering and cannot escape because of the complicated thoughts in their hearts and the insatiable desires. The confusion of the six desires is like a fog that makes all living beings lose their way and find it difficult to see their true nature."

"To be sincere in one's heart and see the sacred mountain in one's heart is the process of brushing away the dust and revealing the light of the pearl. It is also the process of seeing through the emptiness of all dharmas, understanding the true meaning of life and death, and transcending the sea of suffering. This is to be sincere in one's heart, and it is also to seek the heavens and the earth, and it is to seek the Tao!"

At the end of his speech, Wang Yi emphasized the word "seeking the truth".

Master Kurong, Duan Zhengming, Ben Yin, Ben Guan and other five people were all touched by Wang Yi's words.

I didn't expect that Wang Yi was not only well-versed in Taoism, but also had such a deep understanding of Buddhism. At the same time, I secretly felt lucky that I had this opportunity to listen to such profound theories today. It would undoubtedly play a vital role in their future martial arts practice.

Duan Yu was mesmerized by what he heard, and a childlike innocent smile appeared on his face, looking silly. For him, who had been immersed in Buddhism since childhood, this debate between the two solved many confusions in his heart, and he could not help but feel great joy in his heart.

Jiumozhi was silent for a long time, and after his expression changed several times, he said: "What the Taoist said is really a pearl, which has opened my eyes. I dare to ask, if I want to seek the sacred mountain in my heart, how should I practice?"

Wang Yi smiled and replied, "The way of practice varies from person to person, but the essence remains the same. Examine yourself, surpass yourself, please yourself, and be sincere to yourself before you can be sincere in your heart! The world is a place for you to practice, and the world of mortals will refine your heart. Purify your heart, clarify your will, and persevere until you become sincere in your heart."

"The Taoist scriptures, Buddhist scriptures, the collection of classics, and the classics of hundreds of schools of thought were all written by the ancient sages after they were sincere. Reading the ancient sages' classics, seeking their wisdom, and understanding their sincerity is also a process of cultivating the mind, rectifying the mind, and being sincere."

When Jiumozhi heard this, a glimmer of enlightenment flashed in his eyes. He put his hands together and bowed deeply: "Master, your words have enlightened me. All living beings are trapped by distracting thoughts and confused by attachments. If we can let go of attachments and purify our minds, we will naturally see the sacred mountain in our hearts and realize the Buddha nature and the Tao nature."

“But…” Jiumozhi paused, his expression was complicated and hard to understand, his mind was full of thoughts, after several changes, his eyes gradually became firm: “But today, I still want to borrow the Six Meridians Divine Sword Scripture to thank my good friend. If I can get what I want, the thoughts in my heart may be gone, I hope the elders will be merciful.”

He has his own persistence in his heart, and naturally he cannot be persuaded by a few words. The words of this Taoist contain extraordinary wisdom, and every word is worth pondering. But no matter how great the wisdom is, it cannot shake his inner persistence.

Master Kurong sighed, clasped his hands together, and chanted the Buddha's name: "Amitabha... The Taoist priest has said so much, but you still can't see through it, Ming Wang?"

Ben Yin, Ben Guan and Duan Zhengming all frowned. This Mahavairocana really dared to be the Tubo State Master. His greed, anger and ignorance were so deep that he did not have any of the virtues of a great monk.

I slowly stood up, anger hidden between my brows, and said in a deep voice: "Your Excellency, why do you have to be so deceitful? Using the name of the deceased to steal the Six Meridians Divine Sword Scripture of my Tianlong Temple, this behavior is unworthy of a great monk!"

Duan Zhengming's eyes were stern, and he stood up slowly: "Jiu Mozhi, as a national teacher, have you considered the consequences of this action?"

Jiumozhi stood up expressionlessly, his clothes fluttering without any wind, and he put his hands together, saying calmly: "In order to fulfill my good friend's last wish, I am not afraid of any consequences, and I hope the elders will show mercy."
