Chapter 9 Help each other
One last look.

The moonlight is bright, casting green light all over the ground.

On the other side, Qingyi, who should have been still asleep, had opened her eyes at some point. She just looked at Ding Lin quietly without saying a word.

Seeing Ding Lin turned around.

Qingyi closed her eyes suddenly, as if she had not woken up yet.

My heart suddenly ached, as if a piece of it had been dug out of me.

Ding Lin turned his head and closed his eyes.

The small lake was right in front of him. He only needed to swing his tail hard to jump back in and survive. But this time he couldn't swing his tail at all. His tail felt heavy as if it was filled with lead.

Ding Lin looked up and found that the moonlight was somewhat dazzling for some reason.

Suddenly, the world spun around.

Stop where you are.

for a long time……

Ding Lin wagged his tail and swam back.

Mud and water splashed all the way.

All the shrimps along the way were bitten to death by Ding Lin. He collected this last bit of food and returned to Qingyi little by little.

Qingyi's eyelids trembled slightly, and then slowly opened, as if she had just woken up, but there were clearly some traces of tears in the corners of her eyes.

Ding Lin spat out the dead shrimp and put it away, then leaned his head over and gently pressed it against Qingyi's face.

……

Ding Lin only rested for a short while and then started storing food again.

From night until noon the next day, as the water level dropped again, finally, even he could not move forward.

Ding Lin struggled hard to roll the last little distance, then stuck to Qing Yi and spat out the last few shrimps he had caught. He had no strength left in his body.

He fell heavily onto the mud.

But after a while Ding Lin couldn't stand it anymore.

The sunlight grew brighter and brighter, shining on the scales, burning.

"hot……"

Qingyi's voice sounded aggrieved.

Ding Lin rolled in the mud, then looked at Qingyi and used his tail to splash mud onto her back.

The hot summer has eased a little.

Finally, at a certain moment, the sun set, the moon rose above the horizon, and a gentle breeze blew by. Finally, there was a hint of coolness between heaven and earth.

……

The night was relatively peaceful.

After getting rid of the evil spirit as usual, Qing Yi woke up again. She was a little uneasy and kept muttering. Ding Lin put his head close to her face and listened silently, looking at the moon with wide eyes and counting the time in his heart.

This is the countdown to death, it seems to be passing very quickly, yet also seems to be passing very slowly.

But, no matter how fast or slow it was, the night finally passed.

The sun climbed out of the horizon, showing a bright smiling face.

It's another sunny day.

The summer sun was hot and violent. It evaporated the remaining layer of water in the ditch in just one morning, exposing the black mud at the bottom of the ditch.

The sunlight stings my body.

Ding Lin looked up at the sky, then at Qingyi. Her eyes were slightly open, as if she was half asleep. Her scales were dry and without a trace of moisture, and were dull and lifeless.

But today Qingyi didn’t complain about the heat anymore.

Ding Lin arched his body downwards, and after a while, he finally dug a pit on the side of Qingyi. He used his tail to forcefully push Qingyi's body downwards. After all, he had become a demon, so he had some strength. After a lot of effort, he finally pushed Qingyi into the pit, and Qingyi groaned.

Ding Lin noticed that Qingyi's wound was torn again, but he said nothing.

Ding Lin used his tail to stir up the mud, and finally, the mud pit half-covered and hid most of them.

Finally there was a hint of coolness.

In the shadows, Ding Lin put his head against Qingyi's face, his mouth wide open, his gills opening and closing, and he felt as if he was suffocating.

From early morning to noon, and from noon to dusk.

The mud stuck to his body was evaporated little by little, and then cracked inch by inch.

The mud at the bottom of the ditch also cracked.

Just endure it so hard.

Surprisingly, another day passed and I survived until the evening.

The sun sets.

Suddenly a breeze blew, bringing a cool breeze.

Ding Lin's spirits lifted. He forced himself to cheer up, and struggled to recover his demonic energy, so that Qing Yi could get through it.

That gust of wind brought hope.

There was a chaotic noise all around, the sound of the bushes on both sides of the ditch being blown by the wind. Was it going to rain?

Qingyi has woken up, her eyes full of hope. Ding Linye raised his head, staring at the sky motionlessly.

however……

Hope was lost.

As dawn approached, the wind suddenly stopped, the moonlight shone, and there was silence.

Hope faded away bit by bit in Qingyi's eyes.

It was dark as ink all around, pitch black.

"Xiao Hong...are we going to...die..."

In the darkness, Qing Yi murmured in a calm voice without any emotion.

Ding Lin silently leaned over.

Stick it on Qingyi's face.

……

Time passes while waiting.

The dawn seemed to be infinitely stretched, and time seemed to have passed for a very long time.

Finally, the sun rose.

There was a hint of paleness in the east.

But this light does not bring hope.

The sun is shining.

The last bit of moisture on Ding Lin and Qing Yi evaporated.

The mud on the body began to crack, then curl, and then fell off, revealing the same dry scales.

A suffocating feeling began to surround me.

Qingyi was the first one who couldn't hold on. His gills trembled unconsciously and his mouth kept opening and closing.

Ding Lin looked at her but there was nothing he could do. He could only move his head closer, lick his lips, and smear the last bit of saliva from his dry mouth on Qingyi's face.

Qingyi recovered a little, and then followed Ding Lin's example and applied the saliva back.

Support each other in times of adversity…

What beautiful words.

But in reality it was the last futile struggle in despair.

The two fish bodies intertwined, lingering like this...

Finally, I was left with no strength left.

Ding Lin looked up and saw that there was not a single cloud in the sky.

The sky is clear and blue.

Only, the early sun is as scorching as fire.

It is the kind of splendor I have never seen before!

That’s it for now…

Ding Lin thought hard.

Then consciousness began to withdraw from the body.

The sky was spinning, and I could vaguely see a cloud, slowly floating closer and closer...

Getting closer……

But Ding Lin could no longer tell the truth from the false.

because……

it's dark.

……

cloud.

There really is a cloud in the sky.

The sun was blocked.

Then the clouds lowered, and on the snow-white clouds were two fairies whose complexions were even whiter than the clouds. The steam from the steamer made their faces unclear, and their sleeves were fluttering. The one on the left was wearing a green dress, which was plain and simple, while the one on the right was wearing a golden gown, and her temperament was cold and majestic.

They looked down from the clouds.

"What a wonderful way of supporting each other, sharing life and death."

The female immortal on the right, wearing golden clothes, spoke in a clear and crisp voice with some emotion.

“I never thought I could see such a moving emotion in this mundane wilderness.”

The green-clothed fairy on the left did not answer. She seemed to be in a trance for a moment. Then, she waved her sleeves lightly, emitting a ray of emerald green light.
