Chapter 14 Treatment
"It's okay, go to sleep early."

After Lu Beiting finished speaking, he lay down stiffly, and Xia Zhi poked him as soon as he lay down.

Xia Zhi raised her chin. "Move over a bit, otherwise it will be difficult for me to get in and out of bed."

Lu Beiting, feeling tense all over, had no choice but to move further inside.

Xia Zhi raised an eyebrow and lay down, looking at Lu Beiting lying stiffly on his side, unable to suppress a laugh.

In the darkness, Lu Beiting opened his eyes and listened to the breathing behind him, his breath coming slowly.

This was the first time he had ever slept with a woman, and it was a very strange feeling.

He closed his eyes, ready to sleep, when suddenly a heavy weight pressed against him, and then the person behind him wrapped around him like an octopus.

Lu Beiting paused, hadn't she said she was a very well-behaved sleeper?
Xia Zhi put her hand on Lu Beiting's waist, then lifted her foot and put it on top of him, and afterwards she rubbed against him contentedly.

Lu Beiting remained in one position all night, only managing to drift off to sleep in the middle of the night.

The next day, Xia Zhi woke up, yawned, looked at Lu Beiting sleeping inside, grinned, and thought, "Not bad at all."

Lu Beiting had woken up as soon as he sensed movement beside him, intending to wait for her to get up before moving.

Xia Zhi sat cross-legged immediately. "Get up if you're awake. Let me take a look at you."

Upon hearing this, Lu Beiting sat up nervously.

After Xia Zhi took his pulse, she carefully examined his leg, and Lu Beiting watched her nervously the whole time.

"It's alright, nothing's wrong, let's take it slow."

After Xia Zhi finished speaking, she got up from the bed and took out the acupuncture kit she had taken from the traditional Chinese medicine clinic from her luggage.

Lu Beiting propped himself up and sat up straight, waiting for Xia Zhi's next move.

Xia Zhi skillfully inserted needles into several acupoints on his legs.

Lu Beiting's thin lips were pressed tightly together, and a few beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

After finishing the acupuncture, Xia Zhi clapped her hands and got up, saying as she put on her clothes, "Okay, don't move around. I'm going out for a bit, and I'll come back to get the needles later."

Lu Beiting looked at the dense needles on her leg and nodded at her.

As Xia Zhi came out, she bumped into Zhang Yi, who had come to deliver food.

"Hello, sister-in-law."

Xia Zhi glanced at the food in his hand and said with a smile, "You don't need to cook for him next time. I'll just prepare some medicinal cuisine for him."

"Okay, sister-in-law, where are you going? Do you want me to have someone take you there?"

Zhang Yi still admires Xia Zhi very much since yesterday, especially since she was able to treat the battalion commander's illness.

"It's alright, I'm just taking a walk. Be careful not to touch the needles on Lu Beiting's body."

Zhang Yi nodded repeatedly as he listened. After watching Xia Zhi leave, he turned and went inside. He carefully walked over to the battalion commander who was unable to move on the bed.

"Battalion Commander, let me feed you something first. Your wife said she'll take care of your food from now on."

"Mmm." Lu Beiting responded with a slightly trembling voice.

Zhang Yi noticed something was off about his tone and looked at him curiously. "Battalion Commander, is acupuncture uncomfortable?"

Lu Beiting's pale lips moved slightly, and he nodded. He felt a heat in his legs, along with a deep, bone-chilling itch.

Zhang Yi opened his mouth in surprise, "Sister-in-law is really amazing."

Lu Beiting didn't say anything more, and glanced at the open door.

After Xia Zhi left the dormitory building and walked on the road, she saw that the military area was surrounded by barbed wire, and even the earthen walls had sharp objects stuck in them.

This place is huge, at least the size of a school. You can hear them training no matter where you go.

The canteen is very small, with only a few tables and a few vegetable gardens behind it.

Not far from the canteen was the military hospital, a small two-story building. From a distance, you could see families coming and going, as well as military personnel. She stood at a distance and watched for a while, then, estimating that it was about time, turned around and went back.

"Beiting, who did this for you? How could you do this mess? Shouldn't you be looking for Dr. Shen?"

Su Yating had originally planned to take him to the hospital for a follow-up examination, but when she arrived and saw this scene, her heart skipped a beat.

As soon as Xia Zhi reached the door, she heard a series of incessant chatter coming from inside.

"There are so many needles stuck in your throat, I'll remove them for you. I'll take you to Dr. Shen for a checkup."

A woman in a white coat was talking to Lu Beiting, and then she reached out to touch her needle.

Just as Lu Beiting was about to speak to stop him, he was interrupted by a sudden voice.

Xia Zhi's face turned cold when she saw this. She crossed her arms and leaned against the door. "If you dare to pull it out, do you believe I'll make it appear on you?"

Su Yating's outstretched hand froze instantly. Then, looking at the disheveled and unfamiliar woman at the door, her expression shifted from confusion to suspicion.

"You're the one who gave Bei Ting acupuncture? Who gave you permission to do it?"

"Beiting is the battalion commander of the Yunfang defense force. Can you take responsibility if something happens to him?"

Su Yating narrowed her eyes, her tone aggressive and hostile.

Over the years, she had never seen Bei Ting with any son-in-law other than herself, and even Hao Liping, who was about to marry him, did not appear in the army.

But this woman...

Su Yating suddenly felt a sense of crisis.

Xia Zhi could tell at a glance that this woman was interested in Lu Beiting.

"Lu Beiting hasn't said anything, why are you in such a hurry?"

Xia Zhi stepped forward, noticed the blackening at the spot where the silver needle had been, sat down by the bed, and reached out to remove the needle.

Su Yating was surprised that this woman dared to sit on Lu Beiting's bed. Didn't she see there was a stool next to her?
Besides, doesn't she know that men and women are different?
What surprised her even more was that Lu Beiting didn't say anything about it.

Su Yating was out of breath, then looked at Lu Beiting.

"Beiting, I was just worried about you. I didn't expect this girl to be so hostile towards me."

But Beiting, you also have to take responsibility for your own health. If you have any problems, you can go to Dr. Shen.

There's no need to rush into treatment without proper consultation.

Su Yating's words implied that she was doing it all for his own good.

Xia Zhi frowned and turned around to look at the noisy woman with displeasure.

"Can you shut up? You're so noisy."

Su Yating's eyes widened in surprise, then her gaze towards Lu Beiting became increasingly aggrieved. "Beiting, I'm sorry."

Lu Beiting's attention was focused on his legs, so he had no time to pay attention to her.

Xia Zhi breathed a sigh of relief after all the needles were removed, and then treated his wounds.

As Xia Zhi packed her things, she gave him a meaningful instruction.

"I'm going up the mountain to gather some herbs later. Be careful at home and don't let just anyone in."

Su Yating's expression immediately changed, and she retorted.

"Young lady, what you're saying is rather impolite. I'm a nurse at the military hospital, and also a comrade-in-arms of Beiting."

Is it wrong for me to care about him? Besides, who are you? I've never seen you before.

Su Yating's hands clenched involuntarily beneath her sleeves. Who exactly was this woman, and why was Beiting so tolerant of her?

Xia Zhi crossed her arms and looked at the man on the bed. "Lu Beiting, who do you think I am?"
