Influenced by Liu Wu Kui's "profound Buddhist teachings," the monks of Shaolin Temple willingly embraced the Way of Heaven, also known as Mahakala, including Xu Zhu.
Upon seeing the brightness of the Heavenly Dao Contract in his hand, Liu Wu Kui revealed an extremely satisfied smile. The brighter the Heavenly Dao Contract, the more merit points he would receive.
As one of the three chosen ones, if I hadn't been assigned to the Shaolin Temple area as soon as I arrived in this world, I probably wouldn't have been able to obtain so many Heavenly Dao Merit Points so easily.
Liu Wu Kui was already happily thinking about what he wanted to exchange for.
And on the other side.
Tibet, the Great Snow Mountain, the Great Wheel Temple.
At Xiao Zizai's feet lay a Tibetan monk in a disheveled state. He was truly dignified, dressed in simple clothes and straw sandals, and his ashen face could not hide his former radiant spirit.
It seemed to have a faint, flowing light, like a bright jewel, shining naturally, making people feel admiration and closeness after looking at it for a short while.
This person was none other than Kumārajīva. He was exceptionally intelligent from a young age, possessing a photographic memory and being obsessed with martial arts. After receiving the "Flame Blade" divine skill from a master of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, he was appointed as the National Preceptor of Tibet and Abbot of the Great Wheel Temple, and was known as the "Great Wheel King".
He eradicated the Black Sect in Tibet, becoming a powerful figure in the western borderlands. His skills and knowledge had reached an extremely high level. He possessed great wisdom, was well-versed in Buddhism, and would preach and expound the Dharma every five years.
Kumārajīva is one of the eight great Vidyāra in Esoteric Buddhism. His original meaning is the wrathful form of Vajrapāṇī Bodhisattva, that is, a Vidyāra who takes the elimination of all karmic obstacles and transgressions and takes the pure and perfect precepts as his fundamental vow.
According to the Great Vajra Sutra, its image is entirely yellow, radiating great fire, holding an eight-spoked vajra wheel in its right hand and a single vajra pestle in its left, with the samaya form being a wheel, and seated on a lotus throne.
Unfortunately, Kumārajīva was arrogant and conceited, obsessed with martial arts, and fanatically pursued the supreme martial arts skills. He would stop at nothing to achieve his goals, and repeatedly resorted to sneak attacks and ambushes. He had no pure and perfect precepts left, and instead, he had completely succumbed to the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance.
Just like the theme of the title of the novel "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils", Kumārajīva symbolizes "Garuda", whose true form is a large bird with wings of various solemn and precious colors and a large bump on its head, which is a wish-fulfilling jewel.
This bird has a mournful cry and feeds on Naga.
It needs to eat one Naga King and five hundred dragons every day. When it is about to die, it can no longer eat. After flying up and down seven times, it flies to Vajra Wheel Mountain and burns itself to death, leaving only a pure blue crystal heart.
He was greedy and greedy throughout his life, but at the end of his life he had an epiphany, which made his Buddha-heart pure and clear like crystal.
In the original novel, Kumārajīva only achieved enlightenment after Duan Yu stole his internal energy cultivation in a dry well, and then devoted himself to Buddhist practice, becoming a great monk.
Xiao Zizai looked at the famous Tibetan National Preceptor Kumārajīva. Behind him, the Asura Dharma Image flashed by, with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes, like a blooming lotus flower, standing on a golden lotus, as if floating in a surging sea of blood, carrying an extremely heavy bloody aura, threatening him.
"Have you made up your mind? Will you submit to the will of Heaven, or let me take your place and send you to your death?"
At this moment, a hint of resentment flashed in Kumārajīva's eyes, but more so, fanaticism. He asked, "What kind of martial art is this?"
Xiao Zizai shook his head and said, "It's not martial arts!"
"Not martial arts?!"
"How can it be!?"
Now it was Kumārajīva's turn to be speechless.
Xiao Zizai slowly raised his palms to his chest and said, "Amitabha!"
Xiao Zizai clasped his hands together, his monk's robe as white as snow, his ancient and simple face showing even more compassion, his eyes gleaming with a karmic fire flowing within them, reflecting the morning sun, making his appearance even more dignified and solemn.
He slowly raised his eyes, his gaze as calm as an ancient well, and said, "Your Majesty, you are struggling and sinking in this sea of suffering in the mortal world. Why not follow this humble monk to another realm, comprehend the profound Dharma of Buddhism, and seek your own salvation?"
"My master, Master Jiekong, seeing the Dharma nature of the Bright King, will naturally be overjoyed and accept him as a disciple. At that time, he will bestow upon the Bright King the Garuda Scroll of the Eight Heavenly Dragons Body Casting Method to create an incense-burning golden body, thus adding another demon-subduing and Dharma-protecting figure to our Buddhist sect. This will be a wonderful thing!"
Recalling Xiao Zizai's previous words, Kumārajīva frowned and said, "Other realms? Other realms, are they Song territory or the Western Paradise?!"
"You impudent monk, you barged into my Great Wheel Temple without cause and attacked me. You demanded that I, the King of the Nyingma, submit to this so-called Heavenly Way, and now you talk about other realms. You are clearly deceiving my Tibetan Tantric sect!"
"Since ancient times, Buddhism has always been transmitted eastward. How can it be that your Central Plains Buddhism is trying to guide me to the West?"
"You want me, the King of Light, to be your protector? What a grand Buddhist sect! Do you think your sect is the abode of the Buddha Tathagata of the Western Thunder Sound?" Kumārajīva said angrily.
He clearly misunderstood something. On the one hand, he had a preconceived notion that Xiao Zizai was from the Central Plains, while on the other hand, he felt that this monk from the Central Plains had ill intentions and wanted to take him, the Tibetan national teacher, under his wing.
After all, Buddhism has always liked to perform rituals to help the wicked, guide people to good, and regard them as protectors of the Dharma. In Kumārajīva's mind, he had already regarded Xiao Zizai as a utilitarian person like himself.
Those with evil hearts will also judge others to be evil.
If Xiao Zizai were to persuade this Tibetan national teacher to submit to the Central Plains, it would surely bring him great fame. In that case, wouldn't it imply that Tibetan Buddhism was inferior to that of the Central Plains Buddhism?
Kumārajīva would certainly not agree to such a thing.
Xiao Zizai didn't want to explain anything. In his opinion, talking about another world was too mysterious. Even if Buddhism had the concept of a vast universe, who could really believe it?
Therefore, just beat them into submission; truth will always prevail over fist.
At that time, the Buddha's two palms, one called Majesty and the other Virtue, possessed great power and virtue, and with both hands, he subdued all the demons!
A sudden gust of mountain wind swept through, and a withered leaf drifted down between the two. In the instant the leaf fell, Kumārajīva struck again, his five fingers like hooks, drawing five streaks of crimson energy in the air—the "Flame Blade," a secret technique of the Tibetan Tantric sect.
Xiao Zizai lightly touched the ground with his toes, his figure swaying like a willow catkin. The five fiery energies grazed past him, and the ancient pine tree behind him exploded with a bang, with charred marks appearing amidst the flying wood chips.
"Five fiery blade energies, repeating endlessly, concealing themselves in the shape of wheels, what a magnificent move, Five Blazing Wheels."
Before Xiao Zizai could finish speaking, his eagerness to test the waters led him to use only a third of his strength.
After all, the Buddhist concepts of the two worlds are similar, and both have the Seventy-Two Shaolin Arts, but there seem to be differences in the application of these skills.
Other eminent monks, even if they spent their entire lives practicing only a few unique skills, would not be greedy enough to practice more. But the person who is proficient in all seventy-two unique skills is none other than the Kumārajīva before us.
At this moment, Xiao Zizai's monk robe billowed like sails, and his hands formed a mudra, instantly conjuring a thousand palm shadows, like the thousand hands of Guanyin, seemingly real yet illusory.
He wielded the Great Compassion Thousand Leaf Hand, one of the 72 Shaolin Arts in the world of Under One Person, with a perfect blend of strength and gentleness, shattering mountains and rocks wherever his palm struck.
Kumārajīva's expression hardened, and he poured his inner energy into the crimson kasaya. The golden-red kasaya billowed, and he unleashed the Kasaya Subduing Demon Skill activated by the Lesser Formless Skill, actually using the kasaya to build a wall of energy in front of him.
A thousand palm strikes slammed against the wall, producing a metallic clang. The air surged between the two, causing the snow on the mountaintop to fall.
"The Ming King's Lesser Formless Skill is indeed profound." Faced with Xiao Zizai's revelation, Kumārajīva's expression changed, but he still stubbornly said, "I don't know what you're talking about!"
Xiao Zizai suddenly changed his move, making a flower-picking gesture with his right hand and a Vajra Mudra with his left. When he used this flower-picking finger technique, a small gravitational vortex was generated between his fingers as they came together.
Driven by Xiao Zizai's profound skill, the airflow within three zhang around his body suddenly stagnated.
Kumārajīva's expression changed slightly. He felt as if his limbs were sinking into a quagmire. Immediately, his internal energy erupted. With a roar, he used the Flame Blade and the Burning Wood Blade Technique, and a wave of scorching heat surged out like a tidal wave.
It seemed as if he truly possessed the wrath of Vajra, and even Buddha was angry.
Xiao Zizai dispersed his finger-gesturing gesture and began chanting Buddhist mantras. Strangely, the scorching heat wave seemed to hit a golden bell and a glass barrier three feet away from him, and could not advance any further.
Looking at the gleaming golden bell, Kumārajīva's forehead veins bulged, and he was shocked: "This monk has actually mastered the Golden Bell Shield technique to a state of perfection!"
Little did they know that this was precisely due to the differences between the worlds. In the world of Under One Person, once one had made even a small amount of progress in the Golden Bell Cover technique, one could use the innate Qi to condense an immovable golden bell around the body to protect oneself.
In the world of Tian Long Ba Bu, the Golden Bell Cover technique requires one to train oneself, which is easy to learn but difficult to master. Only after reaching the highest level can one possess the power of the Golden Bell. In the original work, the Sweeper Monk used the Golden Bell Cover technique, which had reached its highest level, to withstand the attacks of Murong Bo and Xiao Yuanshan.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Kumārajīva suddenly withdrew his palm and leaped back, throwing out a string of Buddhist beads from his sleeve. The beads scattered in the air, each one carrying a sharp force, striking Xiao Zizai's major acupoints like a meteor.
Xiao Zizai slightly opened his eyes and lightly waved his sleeves.
A faint golden light emanated from his fingertips, tracing mysterious paths in the air. The Buddhist beads seemed to be drawn by invisible threads, hovering and rotating three feet around him, gradually forming a lotus shape.
"go with!"
Xiao Zizai gave a soft shout, and the lotus flower of the Buddhist beads suddenly bloomed, shooting back with even greater speed.
Kumārajīva hastily used his advanced lightness skill, somewhat resembling the Eight Steps to Catch the Cicada, and dodged repeatedly in a disheveled manner.
The prayer beads struck the frozen rocks of the nearby snow-capped mountain and embedded themselves more than three inches into the stone, forming a complete Sanskrit swastika.
Before Kumārajīva could catch his breath, he suddenly saw Xiao Zizai standing in front of him, pushing out with a palm that seemed slow but blocked all escape routes.
This move, the Great Compassion Hand, is seemingly clumsy yet skillful. It appears as light as a feather, but in reality, it is as heavy as Mount Tai. The primordial energy condenses into a giant palm, and before the palm wind even arrives, the monk's robe on Kumārajīva's chest tears without wind.
Pushing Kumārajīva straight into the mountain rocks behind him, he left a huge palm print on the rock, with the lines of his fingers and palm clearly visible.
The image of Kumārajīva is shaped like the Chinese character "大" (big), and is imprinted on the mountain rocks.
Enraged, Kumārajīva pulled himself out of the rock and attacked with his fingers, palms, legs, and knees like a storm.
The two figures clashed, exchanging over a hundred blows in the blink of an eye. Forces surged forth, causing massive boulders on the mountaintop to crumble and tumble into the snow-covered abyss.
Suddenly, Kumārajīva's moves faltered, his face flushed, and a crimson light appeared in his eyes. His expression became increasingly frenzied.
Xiao Zizai keenly sensed that the opponent's internal energy circulation had become disordered, and he understood the situation.
He immediately stopped and stood up, saying, "Forcibly using the Lesser Formless Skill to activate other schools' martial arts will ultimately lead to a backlash."
"My King, your obsession has become a demonic obstacle!"
As Xiao Zizai spoke, a thousand-armed and thousand-eyed Asura King Dharma image, tens of feet tall, appeared behind him. He held various Dharma weapons, including a precept knife. His fangs were ferocious, and he spewed karmic fire. On the pure white snow mountain, he looked like a crimson lotus flower blooming.
Immediately, one of the hands holding a monk's knife suddenly slashed down at Kumārajīva, the domineering blood-gold blade falling head-on.
Kumārajīva hastily met the attack, raising his hands above his head. The instant his hands met the monk's knife, his expression changed drastically. An overwhelming force pressed him to his knees, shattering the bluestone beneath his knees.
Then, the blade's momentum changed, instead flicking upwards, and the blood-red blade shadow directly pierced into Kumārajīva's body.
"puff--"
Kumārajīva spat out a mouthful of blood in mid-air, barely managed to land and stand still, then staggered back ten steps, only to find that Xiao Zizai had not pursued him, but was simply standing quietly in place, his monk's robe without a single wrinkle.
However, all the internal energy of his Lesser Formless Skill had completely dissipated.
At the same time, one of the arms of Xiao Zizai's Thousand-Armed Asura statue has completely disappeared. Killing is for the purpose of protecting life, and cutting off karma is not the same as killing people. Xiao Zizai's Thousand-Armed Asura is all transformed from the karma of killing, and it is also a symbol of the merit of saving evil people.
A thousand arms would require a thousand lives.
Kill one person, and you may save one.
The Asura severed his arm in order to save others!
Xiao Zizai slowly said, "This humble monk has severed your Taoist foundation with this strike. From now on, you will no longer be bound by the shackles of your Taoist foundation. In the future, you can follow this humble monk to cultivate Buddhism and you will naturally find your way back to the true religion."
Kumārajīva looked at his trembling hands, then suddenly threw his head back and laughed, but there was a hint of desolation in his laughter. He said, "So that's how it is! So that's how it is! Years of cultivation have been lost in a single day. All my efforts to force things have come to naught!"
He turned to Xiao Zizai and the massive Asura figure behind him, the crimson light in his eyes faded, and he regained his clarity. He immediately knelt on the ground and bowed his head in gratitude: "Thank you for your guidance, Master."
Xiao Zizai returned the greeting with his palms together: "Excellent, excellent, congratulations to the wise king for breaking through the illusion."
"Would you be willing to return to Lingyin Temple with me? At that time, my master will personally teach you the Dharma of my sect. Would you be willing to become one of the Eight Heavenly Dragons' guardian deities in my sect?"
"Kumārajīva, I agree!"
------
Within the Heavenly Dao Space, through the feedback from the Heavenly Dao Contract, Meng Fan could easily obtain the progress of everyone's conquest of the world.
The original plot of the Tianlong world has long since collapsed. Duan Yu was deliberately tricked by the little fox Zhuge Qing, not only losing his virginity in a brothel but also signing the Heavenly Dao Contract in a daze.
Subsequently, Duan Yu, having tasted the sweetness of love, lost control of himself and even committed a romantic act of dying under a peony flower. In short, he had no restraint and died from exhaustion, truly becoming a romantic ghost.
Zhuge Qing's lips twitched at this outrageous move. It's normal for the little white rabbit to suddenly turn bad and lose control of herself... right?
Qiao Feng encountered Wang Ye setting up a fortune-telling stall. After a few words, he was attracted by the traces of his biological parents mentioned by Wang Ye and voluntarily signed the Heavenly Contract. Then he headed towards Shaolin Temple.
Little did they know that the Shaolin Temple had now been taken over by Liu Wu Kui, who was now solely focused on worshipping the Heavenly Dao and had become one of Meng Fan's most devout followers.
He also persuaded the local people and wealthy households to believe in him at an extremely fast pace. In just a few days, Meng Fan gained tens of thousands of believers out of thin air. Can you believe it?
These monks are indeed skilled at bewitching people!
