Twin Cities: I am the man of many myths

Chapter 93: Victims of Politics

Chapter 93: Victims of Politics

Piltover

Jace stood silently in front of the glass window, his face calm, but with a sense of resignation and dead silence.

But suddenly, he took two steps forward, looked up at the bags flying out of the glass, and showed a surprised expression, because these bags were from Zaun.

But how did the bag from Zaun fly to Piltover, and... fly so high in the sky?
There was a hint of surprise in Jace's eyes.

"Jace, this is not a bad thing. Please believe me, I will not harm you. Zaun and the others are very sincere. They really want to cooperate with us, otherwise they can kill us all and occupy this city." Mel's voice sounded behind him.

Jace turned around and looked at Mel, and saw that she had a complicated expression and her eyes were pleading with him.

"I know, Mel, I believe you won't hurt me." Jace looked at Mel and continued calmly: "But what about my thoughts? Have you asked me what I think?"

"We don't have the right to refuse." Mel crossed his arms, not daring to look Jace in the eye.

Jace smiled bitterly, "So you sold me to Zaun?"

"Don't you all know how bad and messy that place is? It's not a place for people to stay!" Jace raised his voice, took a step forward, approached Mel, and continued, "Besides, I'm not angry about this matter, but because you made the decision for me without even asking for my opinion."

"Does my opinion not matter at all?" Jace lowered his head and looked at Mel.

Mel looked at Jace, bit his lip, reached out and touched Jace's face, and whispered:
"No, Jace. Given the situation at the time, we had no choice but to agree. The power of the Zaun people was beyond our imagination. I even think that even if we made Hextech weapons, we would still be the losers in this war."

"Please believe me, you won't be gone for too long. I will try to reach a cooperation agreement between the two cities as soon as possible so that you can come back soon."

"What about Viktor? What should we do with Viktor?" Jayce continued. "He has been missing for more than a week. Piltover is so small, and as a councilor, I haven't found any news about him. It's as if he disappeared out of thin air, leaving behind only the door I built for him."

Thinking of the situation at that door, Jace became worried about Victor's current situation.

Where on earth have you been?
Victor.
"Mel, I don't really mind being a political victim. If you want to use me to save the future of Piltover, I agree and I am willing to do so. But why now?"

"Victor is already dying, and now he's disappeared. I'm really worried about him. I'm afraid I'll never see him again in this life."

"It's okay, Jace, it's okay." Mel stood on tiptoe, stretched out his arms and put them around Jace's neck, and whispered, "Everything will be fine. Victor is very smart, he will definitely not leave like this, I believe in this."

"Also, please stop putting so much pressure on yourself. None of this is your fault. This is our problem."

"Jace, maybe I shouldn't have let you become a senator." Mel hugged Jess's neck, and Jess also hugged Mel's waist, buried his face in Mel's neck, closed his eyes, smelled Mel's scent, and listened to her voice.

"Since the day you became a congressman, I have never found the look in your eyes when we first met. Do you still remember? At that time, you looked at me with eyes full of fear and worry, but more of it was longing for the future."

"You are confident and proud. You never get discouraged when encountering setbacks in your experiments. You are either in the laboratory or on your way to the laboratory every day. But everything has changed since you became a member of parliament."

"You no longer have time to go to the laboratory. You are on the invitation list of various family banquets every day. You spend all your time on interpersonal communication and profit exchange. This is not what you should do.

I'm glad you've become so great and such a big shot in Piltover, but I'm also sad that the man I first knew, Jace Tallis, is gone." Meier became sadder and sadder.

Her admiration for Jace may have been due to her interest and curiosity in Hextech technology at first, but later on, she was slowly attracted to Jace and fell in love with this young man who was a few years younger than her.

He used to be confident, sunny, handsome, tall and smart.
But since when did he only mention the word "parliamentarian" and start calculating interests with others and discussing sea routes for commercial goods?
"No, Mel, he's back." Jace was silent for a moment, then suddenly said. He opened his eyes, patted Mel's back gently, and leaned back to get out of Mel's embrace.

He looked at Mel with a smile and said, "In fact, if this incident hadn't happened suddenly, I would have planned to quit my job as a congressman and never participate in politics again."

Mel was stunned and pursed his lips.

"Okay, don't be sad. After listening to what you said, my resentment has dissipated. I said that I don't care about becoming a victim of politics, because just like you said, you had no choice at the time. On one side was Piltover, and on the other side was me. Moreover, even if you chose me against all odds, what was the final result? Wouldn't it be the same if we both died at the hands of the Zaun people?"

"I'm no longer the Jace Tallis I once was. I won't be like a child and say, 'Ah, even so, I still hope you can choose me.'"

"I understand. There are many things that are beyond our control. Don't worry, Mel. The only person I'm worried about now is Victor. Isn't it just going to Zaun? I'll go."

"Thank you, Jace."

Jace said nothing more, but hugged Mel tightly.

The next day, November 11, 4 a.m.

Piltover, villa area.

Jayce put on gorgeous clothes and leather shoes, and walked out of the house with one hand on his waist. When he got outside, the Piltover people who were responsible for sending him to Zaun had already arrived.

When he saw the other person, Jace immediately stood up straight with a cold expression on his face.

Hiss. Last night's tenderness was a bit too much. Now Jace only feels the pain in his waist.

He turned around and saw Mel in her nightgown standing in front of the glass looking at him. He smiled and waved at Mel. Jace looked at the law enforcement officer who was responsible for sending him to Zaun, put away his smile, and said indifferently:
"Come on, take me to Zuan."

"Yes, Councillor Tallis."

Sitting on the electric car, Jace looked at the scenery outside the window and took a deep breath.

It is impossible to say that he is not afraid of going to Zaun. Jayce has been taught since he was a child that Zaun is a chaotic and evil place. They say how bad the place is and how it is not a place for human beings to stay.

Naturally, Jayce has always had a bad impression of Zaun.

Even after knowing that Viktor was a Zaun, Jayce was worried that Viktor would steal his work, but in getting along with Viktor, Jayce found that Viktor was a gentleman, a real gentleman.

Therefore, this time I went to Zuan.
Councillor Tallis has mixed feelings.

Resistance, fear, worry,

Expectation, curiosity.
Zuan, Zuan.
What will it look like?

Never mind, you’ll know when you get there.

Jace closed his eyes and prepared to take a nap.
