Dragon Clan: Force me to be reborn and slay dragons

Chapter 237 The Mastermind Behind the Scenes, Adding Fuel to the Fire

Chapter 237 The Mastermind Behind the Scenes, Adding Fuel to the Fire

In the heart of Shinjuku, a district filled with towering buildings, Uesugi Kotsugi, disguised as an idle old man, gazed at a distant skyscraper with a complex expression.

Although he had fled the Snake Clan more than sixty years ago, the shadows of the past still lingered in his mind and refused to dissipate.

While one may not be awakened by nightmares every night, it is still necessary to listen to the Lord's teachings regularly in order to soothe the painful and uneasy heart.

Just today, his latest test results came out, showing that all his organs are failing further, the cerebral nerve and blood vessel blockage is still progressing, and the inexplicable growths on his cardiovascular system are still multiplying.

This systemic failure has lasted for nearly thirty years. If it were an ordinary person or even a common mixed-race individual, they would have long since passed away.

But Uesugi Echizen was an emperor, the strongest hybrid in history. The imperial blood in his body forcibly kept him alive, as if reminding him that the sins he had to atone for were not yet cleared and the path he had to walk was not yet finished.

Therefore, he has to go to a different hospital for each medical check-up, and the intervals between check-ups must be long enough, otherwise Tokyo will once again be the birthplace of an urban legend—the immortal old monster.

Moreover, the entire medical community will be in an uproar because of him, and Guinness World Records might even award him a prize, while Tokyo TV might give him the title of Japan's strongest endurance king.

Uesugi Kotsugu thought he would live out his life in a daze, until the Grim Reaper, who knocked on his door every night, became impatient and prepared to break down the door with his scythe to take him to hell. So he set off for France and waited for death to come to him in a monastery in Lyon.

But fate played a cruel trick on him. Last night, a beautiful girl suddenly approached him, saying she wanted to make a deal with him, and told him some news that would shock him to his core.

Three emperors have emerged from the Snake Clan!

One was effeminate, one was alluring, one had red hair and red eyes.

The first two are very similar to him when he was young. Back then, he was also a flamboyant and handsome man with a feminine temperament and charming manner. He could bewitch all the young girls of the Snake Clan with just his face.

And that girl, as delicate as a doll...

To be honest, the moment I saw her, Uesugi felt like I had returned to seventy years ago, when there was a girl who gave birth to him and raised him who was also so young and beautiful, with a faint smile on her face, giving people a gentle and tolerant feeling.

A sudden sharp pain shot through his heart. Uesugi suppressed the unpleasant memories and began to think about how to reach the three children.

If the unknown rich woman last night had only revealed their three surnames without specifying their extremely high blood purity, Uesugi Echizen would have simply assumed they were the heirs of the Snake Clan, forcibly chosen to inherit the mantle of the inner three families.

After all, he was the only heir of the three inner families in the previous generation. In order to break the curse of the royal bloodline, he never married. Even when he was lonely, he would take safety precautions and never engaged in dangerous driving. It was impossible for him to have offspring.

Last night, Sugikoshi suddenly remembered something: none of the seven wives that the Snake Clan had arranged for him had given birth to children, and his subordinates had become disloyal to him due to a series of questionable actions.

So the family sought another way, taking his genetic sample and sending it to Germany for research to see if their in vitro fertilization technology could create a new emperor.

If he succeeds, this useless guy will be immediately discarded.

Although he was quick to abandon this wicked family, it was clear that their initial efforts had paid off; those Germans had actually created a new emperor using in-vitro fertilization.

Moreover, it was a triple salvo.

The Snake-Headed Eight Families gained the Emperor, and Uesugi Echizen also had descendants to continue his bloodline. These two good things, happening in tandem, should have brought even more joy, but...

Why can't he laugh at all?
Over the years, Uesugi Koshi has never been to Shinjuku. It's not that he's confined himself to Bunkyo Ward, but rather that he simply doesn't want to have any further dealings with the Hebi-Hachi family.

If he hadn't been scared by that little swindler and hadn't gone to investigate, he wouldn't even have known that the Snake Clan had changed its headquarters.

Looking at the towering, dark building not far ahead, gangsters in law enforcement uniforms were going in and out, their faces filled with solemnity and murderous intent, as if they would draw their knives and guns at any moment and kill anyone they saw.

"After all these years, they're still just a bunch of brutes who only know how to fight and kill."

Despite inwardly despising him, Uesugi Kotsushi couldn't help but feel a bit of a headache.

He had been decadent for too long and was far behind the times. Even though his old body could still imitate the agents in the movies, leaping across rooftops, he could not overcome the blockade of high technology.

He is the emperor, the most powerful hybrid, and has always acted with integrity. His education and training have not included such shady dealings.

Just like back then, when they were hot-blooded and shouted the banner of Japan and the greater good to assassinate Angers, they walked up to him with a knife and wanted a fair fight, not a cunning sneak attack.

If it weren't for that moment when he had the brain fart to fight the owner of Time Zero in a fair fight, it would have been that old monster Angers who was left with his teeth knocked out.

So, I'm so worried, so very worried.

How can we bypass the layers of guards and sneak into the Genji Heavy Industries building, which is clearly under martial law?
Uesugi Koshi put his super brain to work and discovered that the best solution for him was to create a hole in someone else's brain.

Just as he was trying to prove that he had other means besides violence, several law enforcement officers guarding the gate of Genji Heavy Industries in the distance suddenly made a move. They pressed their earpieces and listened for a moment before their eyes all turned to look in his direction.

Then, two law enforcement officers walked toward him with furrowed brows and wary expressions.

Uesugi Echizen was a seasoned veteran; how could he possibly be intimidated by two little brats? He remained seated, calmly reading his newspaper.

After looking at it for two seconds, he slowly flipped the newspaper upside down, and only then did the pictures and text return to the correct orientation.

A closer look revealed that the front page headline was about the panic caused by gang warfare in Osaka, with the media condemning the inaction of the Osaka government and police.

Then I looked at the newspaper again, oh, it's the Tokyo Daily, then it's alright.

Just as he was learning from the news about the extent of the infighting between the Oni Clan and the Snake-Headed Eight Families, two law enforcement officers approached him:

"Old man Oi, what have you been doing sneaking around here?"

"What kind of talk is that, young man?" Uesugi Kotsushi put down his newspaper, revealing a weathered old face, his eyes harmless and his expression innocent, just like an innocent passerby who had been wronged.
"I was just tired from walking around and reading the newspaper for a while, how is that considered sneaky?"

"You've been here for almost two hours, changing places three times. Is the chair uncomfortable or is the sun too strong?"

Not only was he holding the newspaper upside down, but his eyes kept darting towards our company. Did he really think we couldn't see him?

"Then let me ask you, why did it take you two hours to realize there was a problem after I'd been here for two hours?" Uesugi Yue felt that while the others were hard to talk about, the gatekeepers were truly blind.

"Hey, you old man!" Both law enforcement officers had short tempers. Under normal circumstances, they would have dragged the man back to intimidate and threaten him, but things were different today.

The family's top executives were bombarded with phone calls from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Metropolitan Police Department last night. This morning, after cleaning up the Deadpool body in the building, they were greeted by an inspection from the tax bureau, and several other departments are also scheduled to come and inspect.

It's safe to say that many people are watching them now. Even if this old geezer points his finger at them and curses them, they can only endure it for now and wait until night to throw excrement at his doorstep.

He hurled a few insults, but ultimately couldn't do anything to Uesugi Kotsugi. The two enforcers glared at him and left.

Uesugi knew he couldn't stay any longer, or a few underage thugs would come looking for his retirement pension.

He put away the newspaper, glanced at the Genji Heavy Industries building in the distance, and then turned and left.

As expected, a tail was following behind. Perfect, I can get some information out of them later.

A moment later, the vigorous law enforcement officer was pinned to the ground by a seventy- or eighty-year-old decrepit man, his face filled with a bewildered expression of existential doubt.

What happened? What happened?
I was following along just fine, but how did the perspective suddenly change from parallel to the earth to looking up at the sky after turning a corner?

The unfortunate law enforcement officer was pinned to the ground with his neck choked; the terrifying force was like an iron clamp, ready to crush his neck at any moment.

"Kid, I ask, you answer, understand?"

Uesugi Koshi smiled warmly, but his gaze toward the law enforcement officers was as if he were looking at meat on a chopping board.

"Who exactly are you?!" The law enforcement officer managed to squeeze out the words from his throat, realizing he had been caught in a trap, and by a great white shark at that.

"I haven't been a gang leader for many years, and there's no longer any legend about me in the underworld."

Uesugi sighed, looked around, and with one hand, dragged the struggling law enforcement officer deeper into the alley.

"Young people these days are so clueless. They almost smashed my stall under the guise of looking for someone."

"Then call the hotline!" The law enforcement officer knew he had run into a senior figure, and his tone was a bit annoyed as he painstakingly explained the rules and benefits that the organization had introduced in recent years.

It's fine to contact the main branch if you have a problem, but that doesn't mean you should go to the main branch headquarters to complain in person!

"Oh, is that so? This patriarch is quite the player now?" Uesugi Koshi listened to a head full of rules and benefits, marveling at how times had truly progressed, with gangs now operating like large corporations.

Unfortunately, he has been away from his family for many years and is completely unable to enjoy benefits such as medical insurance, social security, and retirement pension.

Just then, the unfortunate child's face suddenly darkened, and he said sadly, "The patriarch is dead."

Upon hearing this, Uesugi Koshi released his grip and placed the person back on the ground, listening as the enforcer recounted Tachibana Masamune's glorious past.

At first, I thought Tachibana Masamune was a remarkable person who could unite the scattered Hebi-ki Hachike. But when I heard that he and Minamoto no Chisei were like father and son, my face immediately fell.

Upon hearing that the head of the Uesugi family had disappeared, and that the assassin of Tachibana Masamune was the Dragon King of the Demon Clan, who was said to look very similar to the head of the Minamoto family, and that he had been captured and tortured into madness, Uesugi Etsu's heart sank to the bottom.

How did two brothers, who were perfectly on good terms, become enemies?

Uesugi Kotsuki felt a tightness in his chest. He learned that the red-haired, red-eyed head of the Uesugi family had not yet been found, but the family seemed to be giving up and had stopped offering a bounty. He felt even more powerless.

As expected, royal blood only brings curses.

I had originally hoped to gather some useful information and see where I could meet two good sons and a well-behaved daughter, but instead I ended up hearing a lot of upsetting things.

"Thanks, I'll help look for it when I have time. I'll call the main liaison center if I find any news." Uesugi Echi patted the enforcer on the shoulder, then turned and left, deep in thought.

Once his figure disappeared, the law enforcement officer who had been clutching his neck finally breathed a sigh of relief, peered around to make sure he was really gone, and then took out his phone to report to his superiors.

After a few words of gibberish, the enforcer, as if injected with adrenaline, straightened his back and declared in a low voice, "For glorious evolution!"

Meanwhile, the old turtle hiding behind the scenes chuckled softly, watching the heavy-stepping old man on the surveillance screen, and the teenagers eating, drinking and having fun in the amusement park, and his mood relaxed again.

He hummed a song and passed on a few more orders, waiting for the show to begin.

……

If a dragon stays in the deep mountains and forests for a long time without ever appearing, people will forget about it.

But once it tries to enter human territory, the hunter will know immediately.

There was more than one person who noticed Uesugi Koshi.

"Heh, this old bastard's still alive?" A man in a bathrobe, his neck covered in bright red lipstick marks, held a glass of red wine, his golden eyes gleaming with amusement.

"Since you've been hiding for so many years, why not just keep hiding instead of jumping out and disrupting my script?"

So, it really is because of family ties?

The man lightly tapped the table with his fingertips, a slight smile playing on his lips, a look that seemed both disdainful and helpless.

He scrolled the mouse wheel, and countless images flashed across the computer screen: the Genji brothers leading men into Genji Heavy Industries with murderous intent; Tachibana Masamune cosplaying as Louis XVI; Angers being picked up by the Inuyama family's convoy; and countless male escorts welcoming a big shot at the gates of Takamagahara...

Finally, the mouse hovered over the photo of a boy and girl walking hand in hand into Takamagahara.

The man zoomed in, his gaze falling on the two behind them. The slender, yet proud and upright, black-haired boy held a demon sword. Finally, his gaze moved slowly back to the bounty hunter with an exaggerated expression and two arched eyebrows.

"The situation in Japan is getting more and more complicated. The relationships between people are almost in chaos. This can't go on."

The man frowned, his handsome brows furrowing slightly, clearly uneasy about the abilities of the mastermind behind the scenes.

He picked up his phone and dialed a number, saying calmly, "I need an assassin, and I need to be quick."

"Oh, the name sounds familiar. It seems like this is the surname of the guy who angered Uesugi Koshi back then."

"My original surname was Miyamoto, it doesn't matter, as long as it's fast enough."

“No one can outrun Angers; he’s an old monster whose speed even time can’t catch up with.” The man chuckled and hung up the phone.

Japan is already chaotic enough, so it doesn't matter if it gets even more chaotic.

Unfortunately……

The man swiped the mouse, his gaze landing on the blond nobleman wielding a hunting knife and fighting the snake-like Deadpool, a look of pity on his face.

"Forget it, I'll find someone to urge them and speed up that project."

The man downed his drink in one gulp, shut down his computer, pulled a few pink toys from a drawer, and hummed a little tune as he walked into the darkness.

"The night is still long~"
