Chapter 193 The Sloppy Doctor's Plaster, Qin Nong is Back (3K)
There are two types of rat sore in traditional Chinese medicine.
One is chronic, which is believed to be caused by qi stagnation, frequent anger, depression, failure of plans, mental dejection, and weakness.
It is induced by mental and emotional aspects.
Another acute type is caused by external wind-heat and internal phlegm and poison.
There are many treatment methods, including palm moxibustion, Shengxuan Decoction, Centipede Powder, Cat's Eye Grass Paste, Huangjing Xiaku Paste, Sheep Gallbladder Pills...
What Fangyan is going to use today is the secret recipe of the sloppy doctor Chen Zhao.
This prescription is the most effective in traditional Chinese medicine and is also the most thorough in removing lesions.
Happily Miao got the plaster.
The original recipe uses ordinary plaster combined with medicinal powder, but the one used in Fangyan now is the plaster directly mixed with medicinal powder.
Just stick it on.
Fangyan held the plaster and said to the girl:
"After about four to six hours of applying this, you will feel a little pain."
The girl was already frightened by the reputation of scabies. She was eager to get cured quickly and didn't care whether it hurt or not.
She said to the dialect in a firm tone:
"It's all right, doctor. As long as it can be cured, I can bear it."
Fangyan nodded:
"Well, just bear with it. But after a day, it will hurt more, and you will have to bear with it then."
“…” The girl’s face turned pale, and she didn’t know how to answer for a moment.
Fangyan tore off the plaster and said:
"After two or three days, your small hard lumps will break and pus and blood will flow out. Then you can take off the plaster."
"The process of pus discharge is the process of removing the lesions inside. It is a bit painful and scary, but you need to endure it."
The girl swallowed her saliva. The scene in her mind made her feel a little scary, but she could only nod:
"I...I know. I can bear it."
Then she asked:
"Doctor Fang, will there be a scar on my neck?"
Fangyan shook his head and said:
"No, after you use this one, I have another plaster that can help you restore your wound to its original state."
"After a week, the pus and blood will basically disappear. When you come here, I will apply another plaster with Shengji Powder on it to heal the wound."
"You are young and have good recovery ability. You will be fully recovered in about 20 days."
Hearing Fangyan's words, the girl finally felt relieved. As long as there was no scar on her neck, a little pain was actually no big deal. In addition, Fangyan was famous for curing diseases, so she gritted her teeth and nodded:
"Okay, I understand. Please post it!"
As he said this, he stiffened his neck, looking as if he was ready to sacrifice himself.
Fangyan didn't hesitate to ask Jia Dapeng to clean the affected area on her neck and then covered it with a plaster.
It just covered the purple part.
Then Fangyan prescribed her a medicine for internal use.
"Okay." Fangyan clapped his hands and asked the patient to take the prescription to negotiate the price and pick up the medicine.
After the patient paid and received the medicine, Fang Yan reminded her again:
"If you have any questions, please feel free to come and see me. I'm basically here every morning."
The girl nodded:
"Yeah, thank you, Doctor Fang."
After seeing the patient out, Fang Yan sat back behind his own desk.
Take out Mr. Zhu’s medical record notebook.
After reading this recipe in my notes, I asked Le Miao to help me make some plasters.
The recipe has no name, and Mr. Zhu calls it "Chen Zhao's Scrofula Plaster."
In fact, after reading the content, Fangyan knew that this recipe did not originally belong to Chen Zhao, but he got it from someone else.
All are recorded in detail in the medical notes given by Mr. Zhu.
Chen Zhao was born in Xingren, Nantong in 1884. He grew up in poverty and made a living by pushing a cart.
In the winter of 1905, when he was twenty-one years old, Chen Zhao went to the village river to break the ice and fetch water when he heard someone groaning in the land temple by the river.
He took a curious look and found a beggar-like man with disabled legs.
At that time, the man was lying in a pile of straw in the temple, shivering with cold. If he continued like this, he would be doomed. So, although his life was already very hard, he had an act of kindness.
He carried the child back to the man and took good care of him.
After taking care of him for a few days, Chen Zhao learned from the disabled man that his name was Jiao Yuebo, and he was a wandering doctor with three unique skills: one was to treat rat sores, one was to treat syphilis, and the last one was to treat malaria.
Because Jiao Yuebo had difficulty moving, he later teamed up with Chen Zhao, one pushing the cart while the other went out to see patients.
A few years later, when Jiao Yuebo was dying of a serious illness, he took out money and asked Chen Zhao to help him buy a coffin for burial. In return, he taught Chen Zhao his own prescriptions.
Chen Zhao could not read, and it took him a lot of effort to memorize the prescription.
He then threw away his wheelbarrow and began practicing medicine.
By the 1930s, Chen Zhao had become a well-known figure in Nantong, mainly for treating rat sores. His method was different from others, and while other people needed a year or several months, he could cure patients in a month at most.
He used the secret recipe he learned from Jiao Yuebo.
He only charged the cost to patients from poor families, and provided free accommodation and meals to those who came from far away to seek medical treatment. Over time, he was widely praised and became famous far and wide.
In 1954, Mr. Zhu heard that there was such an amazing doctor among the people, so he took Chen Youqing and the two of them brought some snacks to visit Chen Zhao in his village.
At this time, Chen Zhao was already seventy years old.
Although he practiced medicine all his life, he did not make much money and was still very poor when he got old.
Because of his tattered clothes and the long-term use of ointments, the powder stuck to his hands, making his hands black, so everyone called him the Sloppy Doctor or Mr. Sloppy.
At this time, Mr. Zhu had already admitted Ji Desheng to his own traditional Chinese medicine hospital.
After seeing how skilled these quack doctors were, he became even more determined to invite Chen Zhao back as well.
However, Chen Zhao did not express his opinion.
Mr. Zhu guessed what he was thinking, so he said directly:
"As for all the patients you take care of, you will be responsible for collecting the medical and drug expenses. The Chinese Medicine Hospital will not take a cent, and you will even pay them."
Chen Zhao still didn't quite believe it and made the excuse that his legs were not very flexible and it was inconvenient for him to go out from home every day.
Mr. Zhu then settled for the second best option and told him not to go to the hospital every day, but only once a week.
Who knew that Chen Zhao, who was in his seventies and had never been to school, didn't quite understand what this "every week" meant, and rejected him again.
Finally, Mr. Zhu told him that he could just come to the Chinese Medicine Hospital in Zhangyin Lane in Nantong City on the 3rd, 6th and 9th of every month.
Chen Zhao finally understood, accepted Zhu's gift, and agreed.
Mr. Zhu believed that although Chen Zhao was sloppy and uneducated, he had very good medical ethics and reputation. He would do his best to treat anyone who came to him for treatment, regardless of whether they were rich or poor, noble or humble, stranger or acquaintance. Mr. Zhu believed that it was an honor for their hospital to have such people come.
In the days that followed, an old man with black hands could often be seen at Nantong Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, carrying a small bamboo basket covered with blue printed cloth, and seeing patients and treating rat sores in the hospital.
The hospital not only provides venue and pays wages, but also provides disinfectant alcohol, cotton, medical cloths and tape.
In 1956, Chen Zhao ended his career as a traveling doctor. At the age of 72, he became a formal doctor at Nantong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with a salary of 105 yuan and a clinic six days a week.
And with the cooperation of other prescriptions of Mr. Zhu, the ointment was used in the treatment of other similar lymph tuberculosis, and the efficacy was further improved by using the therapy of hoop elimination and oral administration.
However, unlike the "Snake Man" Ji Desheng, Chen Zhao made all his medicines by himself without asking anyone else. At that time, when Mr. Zhu wanted the hospital to help him expand the scale of pharmaceutical production, Chen Zhao refused to agree.
In the end, it was only after he saw Ji Desheng hand in the prescription that he handed it in.
Only then did Mr. Zhu understand why Chen Zhao didn't take it out.
The formula for this nuclear extraction medicine contains the teeth of an animal, which makes it difficult to mass-produce.
But the recipe was indeed handed in.
Based on his contributions in this regard, in 1958, Chen Zhao went to Beijing to attend the National Medical Technology Revolution Experience Exchange Conference and the National Conference of Advanced Medical and Health Workers.
Like Ji Desheng, Chen Zhao was received by the leaders. During the meeting, he was hired as a special scientific researcher of Hua Xia Medical College, became a member of the Chinese Medical Association, and received the Gold Medal Award for Pioneer in Medical and Health Technology Revolution issued by the Ministry of Health.
Later, he was named an advanced worker of Jiangsu and a national model worker.
Having been a sloppy doctor all my life, it is worthwhile to be able to stand at the top in my seventies.
Like Ji Desheng, he is also a legendary quack doctor.
……
After seeing the patient leave, Le Miao said to Fang Yan:
"It took me a long time to find the medicine in the nucleus-pulling plaster. No wonder the recipe could not be mass-produced after it was submitted."
Fangyan responded:
"Someone should be able to find something with similar medicinal properties to replace it in the future, and then it should be able to be mass-produced."
Just after he finished saying this, Fang Yan heard the sound of a car engine coming from outside, which soon approached the entrance of Tong Ren Tang.
Then the car stopped.
Fang Yan felt something in his heart and looked at the door, then he saw Qin Nong striding in.
As soon as he entered the door, he saw Fang Yan and said with a smile:
"Expert Fang, long time no see!"
Fang Yan stood up and bowed to Qin Nong:
"Oh! Director Qin, you finally came back!"
Qin Nong hurriedly said:
"Expert Fang, I didn't expect to encounter a case within a case as soon as I got there. This delayed my return. I'm really sorry!"
Fang Yan nodded and said:
"I understand. It's all about catching bad guys."
Then he asked:
"By the way, can you return my courtyard to me now?"
Qin Nong smiled and said:
"Can, can, can! It must be possible!"
"Now that all the enemy spies organized by the No. 5 Courtyard have been brought to justice, the case can be successfully closed! I came here to invite you to attend our internal commendation meeting!"
