Chapter 509 Shared Electric Bikes

"Bus? Are you seeing things? There are no buses around now!"

"I didn't see wrong, look!" The survivor pointed to the bus slowly driving away.

The other survivors looked in that direction and could only see a trail of exhaust fumes and a bright yellow wisp.

But that streak of bright yellow quickly veered off course and disappeared, as if it had never been there at all. The survivors by the roadside burst into laughter.

"You must have seen wrong, not a bus!"

"Yeah, having a tricycle or a bicycle is pretty awesome, isn't it!"

"Doesn't Boss Lu have a 4S store? Have you guys been there? What kind of cars do they have?"

"We have everything, from RVs, buses, and cars to bicycles and electric bikes. What, you want to pick up a car?"

While the survivors chatted enthusiastically, the bus had already arrived at its first stop.

This is the main entrance to the planting area.

The planting area mainly cultivates edible plants that do not have a tendency to mutate, for the survival of the base to eat or for the research institute to study.

The large iron gate of the planting area was open, and survivors were coming and going.

Some were coming to work, some were coming off the night shift; they all looked completely drained, their whole being reeking of work fatigue.

But at this moment, they all froze on the spot, watching the bright yellow bus slowly approaching them from a distance.

What's this?
the bus?
Suddenly, someone in the crowd exclaimed, "Look what this is!"

All the survivors around looked toward the source of the sound.

He pointed to a metal plaque that was taller than him, and there seemed to be words on it. Out of curiosity, everyone gathered around.

“Bus stop sign… South Gate… Main gate of the planting area…” someone murmured to himself, his eyes growing brighter as he read.

"This, this, that, that really is a bus!"

Everyone was so excited they were almost incoherent, until the bus slowly came to a stop, and through the glass they could clearly see Lu Li appear at the front door.

She waved to everyone with a smile, and the front door creaked open, letting out her cheerful and bright voice.

"These are the new buses added to the central base. Anyone want to take a ride?" Lu Li stepped aside to make way for everyone.

A survivor outside the vehicle shouted, "How many points does it cost per trip?!"

"It's super cheap, you can ride the whole line for just ten points, isn't that easier than walking?" Lu Li shouted, sounding a bit like an old lady selling vegetables at a market.

Everyone was tempted when they heard it was only ten points.

But actually, they are used to walking and don't feel too tired. It's just that they haven't taken the bus for a very long time and wanted to experience it.

This is not just a bus; it represents the thriving central base.

If we already have buses, what else can be far behind?

The survivors who had finished their night shifts rushed over, and as Lu Li had instructed, they attached their personal computers to the sensors. Then, quite consciously, they walked to the back and found seats.

However, a bus has a limited capacity, and many survivors did not get a ride.

Lu Li quickly stepped in front of the door, saying, "Don't rush, there are still several cars behind us. Please be patient."

Upon hearing this, everyone slowly stopped pushing forward and obediently waited in place, watching the front door slam shut with a click.

Then watch as the bright yellow bus slowly drives forward until it disappears from sight.

So they began to eagerly await the next bus, wondering when it would arrive.

The bus was bustling with chatter. Some people sat comfortably in their seats, while others stood and held onto the overhead handrails. Everyone looked around curiously, just like Shen Laowu and his companions when they first boarded.

But now, the five of them, including Shen Laowu, are sitting in the last row. They have clearly regained their composure and simply smile and nod in response to other people's greetings.

Lu Li stood next to the driver's seat, holding onto the railing like a ticket seller.

I heard the people around me chatting quietly.

"The buses that Boss Lu has built are really something else. They don't even have drivers; they can drive themselves."

"That's right, and it's quite fast too."

"Look, look, there's an elderly person in front of us. We're not going to run into them, are we?"

"Wow, they actually stopped! They even know how to respect the elderly and care for the young?"

"What respect for the elderly and care for the young? It's just about automatically giving way when you sense a pedestrian in front of you. You understand it but don't."

"You know the industry best, don't you? You're the expert."

Although there was a little bickering, it sounded quite harmonious; it wasn't a serious argument, and everyone was joking and laughing.

See? As long as life gets better, everyone's pressure will decrease, and they will naturally feel more at ease.

Soon, the bus stopped at the main entrance of the residential area.

After coming to a complete stop, the back door opened, and Lu Li shouted, "Remember to use the quantum computer to scan it again!"

Most people did as instructed, but there was a small group of people who liked to play tricks and use underhanded methods, such as getting off the bus without using their personal computers to stick the stickers.

As a result, they couldn't get out of the car no matter what, and were firmly blocked inside.

The people behind him, still confused, reached out to push him, yelling, "Why aren't you moving? What are you doing blocking the way? Hey, hurry up and get off the bus, I'm in a rush!"

The person in front of him had a wry smile on his face; he hadn't expected to be caught red-handed for fare evasion.

He had no choice but to pretend nothing was wrong and squeeze to the back, hoping to take advantage of the chaos to dial a timer on his personal computer, but he was completely blocked by the people behind him who were getting off the bus.

You can't even reach your hand through.

Someone shouted, "Hey, are you getting off or not? If you're not getting off, don't stand here!"

His eyes lit up and he quickly said, "I, I haven't arrived at my stop yet. I made a mistake. Please let me in."

He muttered those words, and those who heard them naturally understood and made way for him.

The survivors who were supposed to get off the bus did so obediently, while those who were not allowed to get off remained inside.

But then a lot more people rushed onto the bus at this stop, filling it up again, making a lot of noise and chatter.

Lu Li was a bit overwhelmed, so she sent a message to Old Shen, saying she wanted to get off at the next stop. He quickly replied that he had received the message, so he probably wanted to get off as well.

The next stop is the core area, which mainly consists of high-rise residences and government offices.

The six members of Luli squeezed down with some difficulty.

As soon as they got out of the car, Mr. Shen and the others took deep breaths. The air outside was much fresher; it was too stuffy inside with so many people.

Old Shen took a few deep breaths and said, "Let's bring another fifty. It's not a good idea to have so many people crammed together."

"By the way, I remember you mentioned shared electric bikes and shared bicycles. How do those work?" He Luo asked.

Lu Li wondered, "Is it because so much time has passed that they don't remember, or is it because this thing didn't exist in their world before?"
Regardless of the reason, Lu Li gave a brief explanation.

For example, if a batch of shared electric vehicles are deployed at the entrance of the planting area, they can travel freely throughout the entire central base without distance restrictions.

These shared electric bikes are charged based on the distance traveled, and anyone can ride them if no one is using them.
