Chapter 19: Have a drink?

The meal was very warm. They ate at the table while talking about recent events, work tasks, people they met on the road, and tomorrow's weather...

It was like going back many years ago. Pei Yizhou told her to wear something thicker when she went out the next day. He kept putting scallop meat into her bowl. Seeing her hissing from the spiciness, he put another bowl of soup next to her. After she drank it in a few big gulps, he promptly handed her a tissue.

Lin Lu accepted it very naturally. She had been taken care of in this way before. Pei Yizhou has always been a very caring brother.

Although she had a hard time after her parents passed away, her classmates and friends never ridiculed her or looked down on her because of this. Instead, many people envied her for having a brother like Pei Yizhou.

He is good-looking, gentle and polite, and treats her very well. There are almost no conflicts between the siblings, which is really enviable.

Perhaps it was because she had been thinking about it too much, Pei Yizhou's gentle attitude had numbed her, and the spicy food made her head dizzy. As they talked, Lin Lu's memory seemed to go back to her eighteenth birthday, and she mentioned what she had begged that day.

"Brother, shall we have a drink? I'm an adult now, I can try it. In the past, you always strictly prohibited me from drinking, and I could only drink lemonade when I went out to class reunions." She burst into tears because of the spicy taste, her eyes were covered with water, and she still looked at him brightly.

Seeing him frown, Lin Lu lowered her eyebrows, wet and pitiful but full of expectation: "Brother? Brother, drink some, I want to taste what it tastes like, just a little."

It was hard for Pei Yizhou to say no to her like this. He lowered his eyes and picked up another piece of scallop for her. His eyes were deep, and then he looked up at her: "You can only taste a little. Drinking is not a good habit."

Lin Lu looked at him strangely: "Who was the one who reeked of alcohol last time?"

"..." Pei Yizhou coughed, stood up and went to the wine rack to get some wine.

There was a bottle of vodka on the two-person-high wine rack. He needed to stretch out his hand to get it. As soon as he raised his hand, the white shirt that was restrained by it slid up a little and became slightly tighter, making his shoulders look broader and his legs longer. The part above the belt was a little translucent under the light, and his narrower waist could be seen.

The spiciness on his lips seemed to have spread to behind his ears. Lin Lu didn't dare to look at it any longer and ran to help take the wine bottle and glass.

Pei Yizhou brought back three bottles of completely different kinds of wine, white beer, red wine, and vodka. He opened them all and poured them into three different glasses.

The fine bubbles of white beer rolled in the beer glass, the vodka was like boiled water, colorless, tasteless and without bubbles, but the bottle of dry red wine required some "processing skills" to pour it out.

Pei Yizhou held the goblet at an angle with his slender fingers. He slowly poured the rich red liquid mixed with the aroma of wine into the goblet, then shook it clockwise for a few times and held it under Lin Lu's nose.

"smell it."

Lin Lu closed his eyes and took a deep breath: "It smells so good."

"Take another sip." He touched her lips with the cup.

The cold wall of the cup touched her swollen and painful lips, and she felt comfortable instantly. She tilted her neck slightly, like a child running after candy, and couldn't wait to take a sip in this position.

"Rich, um, silky and lingering, sweet wine taste...yue——" The taste was followed by a sour taste that she realized later, tightly wrapped around her tongue. After swallowing it, the feeling was still surging, making her face wrinkle, "So sour, so bitter."

Pei Yizhou was still smiling, holding the table with one hand and getting closer to her. After watching her finish that sip of red wine, he poured a little more into the glass and put it in front of her again: "Try it again. It takes an adaptation process to try anything for the first time."

Lin Lu was skeptical and drank very carefully this time, taking a sip at a time. After taking a sip, he smacked his lips and said, "It's OK. But it doesn't match my spicy scallop meat."

That look was smart and cunning, details that could not be imagined or dreamed of in a drunken dream. Pei Yizhou laughed again, not caring about the expensive price of this bottle of dry red wine, and wholeheartedly agreed with the gourmet's evaluation: "Indeed, red wine is only slightly better when paired with beef and chocolate, and it doesn't go well with the meals at home."

Then he pushed the glass of white beer over and said, "This might be a better match."

The taste of white beer is refreshing, not too strong, and has a bit of fruity aroma, which suits Lin Lu's taste very well. After taking a sip, he couldn't stop drinking it. His tongue was still licking the bubbles around his mouth, and he couldn't wait to push the glass over and urge for another glass.

Then I drank a piece of scallop, a sip of wine, and a large glass of white beer, and I still wanted to drink more.

Pei Yizhou was just a helpless bartender who could do whatever she wanted. Seeing her eyes getting brighter and brighter as she drank, he advised her while pouring wine: "Although the white beer doesn't have a strong taste, it is not without a strong aftertaste. Be careful not to get drunk and feel dizzy."

The tone of the exhortation is so bland that it is equivalent to no exhortation at all.

Finally, Lin Lu successfully ate and drank his fill, and became drunk as a goose. The shadows of the people in front of him were swaying, and the reflections of the overlapping lights on the glass cups made him want to close his eyes and sleep if he looked at them for a while longer.

"Brother, don't shake." She muttered.

Pei Yizhou found it amusing. He watched her eyelids blinking, then reached out his hand accurately and caught her head which was falling to one side.

He is still like this. He can't drink much. He gets drunk after just a few drinks, but he's still greedy.

After carrying the person to lie on the sofa, Pei Yizhou cleaned up the dishes and still sat at the dining table, looking at the person on the sofa from a distance, his eyes flickering.

There was no chattering in the house, and it was very quiet, just like every day for the past seven years.

At that time, he was often drunk and would sit here looking at the sofa, out the window, and at the door, hoping that someone would suddenly appear in the next second, touch him, hug him, or at least say a few words to him.

Without Linlu, this house is like a luxurious empty tomb.

After sitting for a while, the person on the sofa stopped tossing and turning, and judging by his breathing, he must have fallen asleep.

After they got together, they also drank together, but only on holidays and anniversaries, which were very memorable days, especially their birthdays.

On the night of his 22nd birthday, he allowed Lin Lu to drink a little more for the first time. The young lovers were aroused by the alcohol and kissed each other unconsciously. His cool fingers moved on their skin, igniting clusters of sparks and burning them to unconsciousness. They fell on the sofa, their breaths overlapping each other, and the cold air could not pass through them.

Then, Lin Lu fell asleep, leaving him alone, feeling both amused and helpless. He had to clean up his own embarrassment and the dishes and kitchen. In the end, he could only hold her and sleep peacefully.

After that, he no longer allowed Lin Lu to drink outside.

The cell phone on the table flashed. Pei Yizhou glanced at it indifferently, picked up the three wine glasses on the table, pressed his lips on the rims of the glasses, and drank the remaining wine one by one.

He can drink a lot now, so the white beer and red wine have no effect on him at all. Only the last half glass of vodka irritates his throat a little. The burning sensation brought by the strong liquor stays in his throat, and after swallowing it, it feels like there is a fire in his stomach.

After finishing the glass of wine, he didn't care about the majority of the wine left in the bottle. After casually putting the cork in the bottle, Pei Yizhou stood up and walked towards the sofa step by step.
