Chapter 360 Giving Conan Information
Chapter 360 Giving Conan Information (2 Updates)
The school bell rang throughout the Teitan High School campus, and the setting sun bathed the school buildings in an orange-red hue.
As Shiraishi E was packing his schoolbag, he suddenly felt someone gently pat his shoulder.
“Draw!!” Ran stood smiling in front of his desk, while Sonoko winked at him from the side.
Xiaolan invited, "Would you like to come to my mom's house for dinner tonight? She said she wants to properly thank you for taking care of us these past few days."
Shiraishi E stuffed the last book into her bag, a slight smile playing on her lips: "Attorney Fei is cooking herself?"
“No way!” Sonoko interjected, waving her hand dramatically. “Aunt Eri’s cooking is…”
Before he could finish speaking, Xiaolan gently nudged him with her elbow.
"I cooked!" Xiaolan smiled shyly. "Mom is still recovering and can't cook!"
"Oh, that's a shame... I miss her cooking." Shiraishi E said something she didn't really mean, but agreed to have dinner at Eri's house that night.
As he left the school, he learned through conversation that Xiaolan had gone to stay with her mother, who had just been discharged from the hospital, so that she could better take care of her.
As the three walked out of the school gate, Xiaolan took out her phone: "I need to call my dad first."
She dialed the number skillfully, and the call was answered quickly.
"Hello? Dad? Are you coming to Mom's for dinner tonight?" Xiaolan's voice was light and cheerful with a hint of anticipation.
Kogoro Mouri's voice, clearly hesitant, came from the other end of the phone: "Um... should you cook or should Eri cook?"
Xiaolan rolled her eyes helplessly: "Of course it's me! Mom's still injured, how can she cook?!"
"That's good, that's good." Mori's voice visibly relaxed. "Then I'll be there at seven o'clock sharp tonight."
After hanging up the phone, Xiaolan shook her head: "Really, Dad's still the same as always when it comes to Mom's cooking."
“Mingzhi.” Sonoko replied seriously, which made Ran pretend to hit her.
Just then, a small figure came running from around the corner.
"Ran-neechan!" Conan stopped in front of them, panting, with fine beads of sweat on his forehead.
"Conan!" Ran's eyes lit up, and she immediately extended an invitation: "Thank you for helping my dad investigate the case these past few days. How about we have dinner together tonight?"
Conan's expression froze instantly, a strange light flashing across his glasses: "Ahaha, well, Professor Agasa and I made an appointment..."
"Huh? But didn't the professor go to the inventors' conference?" Xiaolan asked, tilting her head.
Conan broke out in a cold sweat: "Ah! It's a video conference! Dr. Agasa said he'd remotely tutor me on my science homework!"
He quickly changed the subject, looking up at Shiraishi E, "By the way, Shiraishi-nii! I have a math problem I'd like to ask you!"
Shiraishi E raised an eyebrow, looked at the little detective frantically trying to signal to her, and nodded knowingly: "Okay."
"You two chat first!" Xiaolan said considerately. "Sonoko and I are going to buy groceries. Shiraishi-kun, remember to arrive before six o'clock!" She waved to the two of them and pulled Sonoko towards the supermarket.
Watching the two figures disappear around the street corner, Conan breathed a sigh of relief, and then took Shiraishi E to a Blue Mountain Cafe.
Shiraishi E pushed open the glass door, and the wind chimes made a crisp sound.
Conan followed closely behind, deliberately choosing a two-seater in the corner, the heavy leather sofa partially obscuring their figures in shadow.
"One black coffee, double the syrup," Shiraishi E said to the waiter, then looked at Conan: "What would you like?"
"Orange juice will do." Conan took off his glasses and wiped them, the lenses reflecting the light from the chandelier.
Once the waiter was out of sight, he immediately leaned forward, placed his hands on the table, and eagerly asked, "Shiraishi, how's it going? Any progress on your friend's antidote?"
Shiraishi E slowly took off her coat, leaned back on the sofa, and asked, "Do you think the antidote is like a rice ball sold in a convenience store? You can't just ask for it and have it?"
"Haha." Conan chuckled dryly, his fingers tapping unconsciously on the table. He sighed, "True. So, at least, have you made any new discoveries?"
“I don’t know much about the specifics of the research.” Shiraishi E took the coffee the waiter brought, stirred it gently, and after the waiter left, said, “I’ll let you know as soon as I have any news.”
He looked up at Conan: "But don't get your hopes up too high; your situation is probably the first of its kind."
Conan's shoulders slumped slightly, his fingertips tracing the rim of his orange juice glass as he grumbled, "Yeah. A drug that shrinks people is ridiculous enough, but to reverse that..." His voice trailed off. "However," Shiraishi E suddenly smirked, "there are advantages to being a child, aren't there?"
He glanced meaningfully at Conan and said, "At least it's much easier to solve cases."
Conan paused for a moment, then nodded knowingly: "Indeed. Many people don't guard against children; they can easily extract useful clues from just a few words."
He paused, then said, "Speaking of the case, Uncle Mori and I kept an eye on Katsuyoshi Asahi all day, but the culprit made no move!"
"I've already knocked him half-paralyzed, he's not making a sound anymore..." Shiraishi E thought, taking a sip of her coffee. "Maybe you were watching too obviously?"
"That's possible," Conan said thoughtfully, stroking his chin. "Let's try a different approach tomorrow."
During their casual conversation, he suddenly gave a strange look: "By the way, are you really going to Aunt Eri's house for dinner?"
"What?" Shiraishi E raised an eyebrow.
Conan's lips twitched slightly: "Are you sure about the food there?"
Shiraishi E sighed, tapping her coffee cup lightly on the table. "I have to eat it, even if it's bad. I can't refuse Ran's request."
Conan paused for a moment, then slowly raised a thumb, a glint of admiration flashing in his glasses: "You're better than me."
"Are you so afraid of going to Attorney Fei's house for dinner?" Shiraishi asked with a half-smile.
“Uncle Mori was rushed to the emergency room after eating this,” Conan said seriously. “The doctor said it was ‘acute gustatory shock’!”
"This...could it be an accident? I was fine when I ate it last time." Shiraishi Eri didn't think that Kisaki Eri could cook food to that extent.
"I hope it was an accident!" Conan muttered, but his face clearly showed distrust.
He swore he would never eat Eri Kisaki's cooking again!
During their casual conversation, Shiraishi Ei remembered Rum.
He wasn't entirely at ease with this old fox.
Despite the fact that the other party gave reasons for killing Gin and mentioned the internal struggles within the organization.
But who knows if this guy is just fooling himself?
After all, I know absolutely nothing about the internal workings of the organization.
Rum can say whatever he wants, and he has no way of verifying it.
If you trust someone so easily, you're likely to make a mistake.
With that in mind, Shiraishi E decided to ask Conan to investigate for her, since the guy was happy to do these things anyway.
So he became serious and lowered his voice, saying, "By the way, about that guy who drugged you, Gin, I've heard some rumors lately."
"You mean Gin?" Conan's body tensed instantly, his fingers unconsciously gripping the glass tightly. "You have news about him?"
"Gin was arrested a few days ago." Shiraishi's voice was barely audible: "He was arrested jointly by the Public Security Bureau and the FBI. His exact location is unknown."
"Unfortunately, I don't have any friends in the police department or the FBI... so I can't get any information."
He shrugged, looking regretful.
"This news is enough!!" Conan said gratefully.
Although he has no connections with the Public Security Bureau or the FBI, his father does!
Thinking about this, various ideas came to mind for Conan.
He has to get Gin's position no matter what, and then find a way to get information about that drug!
Seeing Conan's eager expression, Shiraishi E knew that the guy was tempted.
So he offered, "Just let me know if you need any help."
"Well... then I'll have to trouble you." Conan was a little embarrassed, but he had no choice; he didn't have many people around him who could help.
