I'm in Conan, I'm not a gangster
Chapter 484 Reconciliation of Accounts
Chapter 484 Reconciliation of Accounts (2nd Update)
Inside the dimly lit, abandoned warehouse, the damp air was filled with the smells of rust and machine oil.
Gin was firmly bound to the metal chair, his wrists and ankles tightly secured with high-strength nylon straps, leaving him no room to struggle.
After signaling Conan to hide, Kudo Yusaku walked up to Gin and calmly removed Gin's blindfold, earmuffs, and mask, revealing his pale and sharp face.
Gin's eyes were as cold as a knife, but a cruel smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
"It seems you've lost," Yusaku said calmly.
Gin sneered: "What nonsense are you talking about? Just kill me if you want, but don't expect to get any information out of me."
Yuzak shook his head, his gaze steady: "I'm not here to interrogate you. I just want to exchange you for my wife."
Gin's gaze suddenly sharpened, his pupils contracting slightly: "Your wife?"
He instantly realized something, a murderous glint flashing in his eyes, but quickly returned to calm.
Yusaku stared directly at him, his voice low and menacing: "Rum kidnapped my wife and threatened me to do his bidding. I had no choice but to do this!!"
Gin's expression changed slightly, then he sneered: "There are clear rules within the organization that members are not allowed to attack each other... It seems that Rum has crossed the line."
Yuzaku was greatly surprised and frowned: "You didn't know about this?"
Gin said expressionlessly, "My mission was simply to set up an ambush here and wait for the FBI to take the bait."
Yuzaku was silent for a moment, then he understood: "I see... You were used by him too."
Gin didn't respond, but simply said, "Give me your phone, I need to contact the Boss."
Yuzak hesitated for a moment, but finally picked up the other person's phone from the table: "What should I do?"
"Dial the last blank number," Gin instructed, not minding that the other party wouldn't untie him.
As the loser, he was prepared to be tortured and humiliated.
Just like he had done to humiliate others before.
After the call connected, a deep and weathered voice sounded: "What's up, Gin?"
Gin's voice was devoid of any emotion: "Boss, Rum has violated the organization's rules."
There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, then the person asked, "What exactly happened?"
Gin answered bluntly: "He kidnapped the wives of members of the organization and used them as a means of coercion."
Yusaku astutely noticed that Gin did not emphasize that he was an "outsider member," but instead used the vague definition of "organization member"!
An external member is nothing more than cannon fodder with no real importance, but a formal member is the foundation of the organization.
The other party is deliberately blurring the lines, forcing the BOSS to take this matter seriously!
The boss on the other end of the phone remained silent for a long time before finally speaking slowly: "Rum has indeed become increasingly unruly over the years..."
His voice carried a hint of weariness: "I understand, I will handle this."
Gin replied briefly, "Understood."
He then gave Yusaku a look, and Yusaku understood and hung up the phone.
Gin closed his eyes, said nothing more, and did not ask Yusaku to untie him, as if he had already completed his task.
Yusaku's feelings were somewhat complicated, and he said in a low voice, "Thank you... I didn't expect the organization to have such rules."
Gin kept his eyes closed, his tone indifferent: "This is the fundamental rule for the organization's growth. Without this rule, the organization would have fallen apart long ago."
After a moment of contemplation, Yusaku had to admit that Gin was right.
The most taboo thing for assassin organizations is internal betrayal and infighting. If even the basic safety of their members cannot be guaranteed, who would dare to join and risk their life for them?
Of course, he wouldn't naively believe that the organization truly adheres to this rule completely.
Privately, many people must have done shady things.
But at least on the surface, those who break the rules must pay the price.
This time, Rum clearly crossed the organization's bottom line.
Yusaku slowly exhaled, his gaze regaining its firmness.
"So, what's next..." he muttered to himself, "it all depends on how the BOSS handles it."
Gin remained with his eyes closed, seemingly indifferent to everything.
"Sorry, you'll have to make do for another night." Yusaku said, putting the blindfold and earmuffs on Gin again.
Finally, after checking one last time to make sure that Shiraishi E had tied the other person up very tightly, he let Conan leave with him.
After leaving the warehouse, Yusaku pulled down the roller shutter door.
Conan, who was standing to the side, finally couldn't hold back any longer: "Dad, should we take this opportunity to ask that guy about those drugs?"
“There’s no need to ask.” Yusaku stood up and said, “He doesn’t know, and asking won’t make a difference!”
He turned to look at Conan, ruffled the other's hair, and said, "If he knew those drugs could turn people into children... he would be the first to come and check your body!"
Conan paused for a moment, then slapped his forehead and said, "Oh right! How could I have forgotten that?"
“You’re too anxious about things that concern you personally… It’s normal to subconsciously overlook things.” Yusaku didn’t blame Conan, after all, the other was still young, just a seventeen-year-old boy.
For a seventeen-year-old to do this is already quite remarkable.
He asked, "I plan to wait in the car. If you want to go back, I can give you a ride."
"No, I'll wait with you." Conan didn't want to go home either.
Yusaku didn't say anything, but went back to the car, turned on the air conditioning, adjusted the seat, and then took out a pen and paper from the glove compartment, starting to relive the battle that had just taken place.
This is a rare experience!
He savored the experience, then wrote it down, intending to incorporate it into his novel later.
Seeing this, Conan was originally planning to ask his father when he became involved with that organization.
But now was clearly not the time, so he crawled into the back seat and lay down to rest.
Although he wasn't directly involved tonight, witnessing such a surprise attack has sent his adrenaline soaring!
------------
In the dimly lit ward, the medical instruments emitted a regular ticking sound.
Rum lay in the hospital bed, his body covered in various tubes and monitoring wires.
"The operation...failed?" he asked in a hoarse voice, a hint of disbelief flashing in his eyes.
The subordinate standing by the hospital bed bowed his head, cold sweat beading on his forehead: "Yes... Kudo Yusaku didn't act as expected. He... launched a surprise attack on our base and kidnapped Lord Gin." "What?!" Rum was extremely surprised.
He had investigated Kudo Yusaku's past.
This detective is not only intelligent, but also very cautious in his actions.
I would never put myself in danger.
Planning before acting is the other party's style of doing things.
According to his plan, Kudo Yusaku should act in the same way he always has: conduct careful investigations, maneuver secretly, and even try to resolve the issue through negotiation.
This includes staging a good show with the FBI for himself.
But to my surprise, the other party didn't play by the rules at all.
The other party actually chose the most direct and violent method—a head-on confrontation!
What shocked Rum even more was that Yusaku Kudo actually succeeded!
Gin is no small fry; he's the organization's top assassin, yet he was captured alive just like that?
"Damn it!!" Rum cursed, his mood becoming increasingly agitated.
He really disliked this feeling of being out of control.
Furthermore, an ominous premonition welled up in his heart.
This mistake could cost him dearly.
Sure enough, the next second, the large screen in the ward suddenly lit up, displaying a communication request from an unknown source.
Rum's pupils suddenly contracted.
“BOSS…” he murmured, then took a deep breath, tried to calm his breathing, and pressed the call button.
The screen flickered, then a blurry black silhouette appeared, with only a pair of cold eyes staring directly at him through the screen.
"Rum." The BOSS's voice was deep and authoritative, carrying an undeniable sense of pressure: "Do you think that the organization's rules are no longer important to you?"
Rum was a good actor; he momentarily feigned surprise, but quickly adjusted his expression, adopting a respectful demeanor: "Boss, I don't understand what you mean..."
"Don't understand?" The BOSS sneered, "You kidnapped the wife of an organization member, and you dare to say you don't understand?"
Rum's forehead was covered in a fine layer of cold sweat, but he remained calm: "There... there must be some misunderstanding."
"A misunderstanding?" The BOSS's voice suddenly rose: "Gin reported to me personally, would he lie?!"
Rum's heart skipped a beat—Gin?!
He never expected that Gin would go directly to the BOSS!
Yes...the two of them must have reconciled their accounts.
Gin, that bastard! He's supposed to be the organization's number one assassin, but he's such a spineless coward!
You should have committed suicide when you were arrested!
asshole!
"Please wait a moment, Boss!" Rum said hurriedly, "I need to check the situation..."
He turned and winked at his trusted aide standing to the side, who immediately understood and quickly left the ward.
A moment later, an assistant dressed in a black suit was brought in.
"Recently... has someone been doing something behind my back?" Rum stared at his assistant, his eyes cold.
The assistant immediately realized that something had happened!
I have to take the blame!
His Adam's apple bobbed, and he lowered his head: "Lord Rum, I am very sorry... It was I who acted without authorization and kidnapped Kudo Yusaku's wife."
A hint of satisfaction flashed in Rum's eyes, but on the surface he was furious: "What?! You dared to act on your own without my orders?!"
The assistant knelt on the ground, his voice trembling: "I...I thought Yusaku Kudo was too cunning, and I was worried he would be a threat to the organization, so I..."
"Shut up!" Rum snapped. "Don't you know the organization's rules?!"
"You're going back to Death Island right now and undergo training again!!"
The assistant began to plead in fear, "No, Lord Rum! Please forgive me this time! Over the years, I've worked hard, even if I haven't achieved anything great!!"
"Enough talk! Take him away!" Rum ignored him and simply ordered the others to take the assistant away!
The assistant walked away while shouting for mercy.
But as soon as he left the ward, he immediately stopped making noises.
The island of death is nominally where Rum is in charge of training the organization's assassins, but in reality, he has been in charge of it personally for many years.
So, going back there felt like coming home to him.
What's there to be afraid of about going home? Just treat it as a period of rest.
He believed that Lord Rum would not treat him unfairly, especially since he had voluntarily taken the blame.
Inside the ward, Rum turned to look at the screen, his tone heavy: "Boss, it was my fault for not managing things properly. I'm willing to accept the punishment."
The boss on the other side of the screen didn't expose Rum's trick either.
After all, Rum was the son of his former subordinate, someone he had known since childhood, and was practically a son to him.
What can he do?
We can't just kill them, can we?
After a few seconds of silence, the BOSS finally spoke coldly: "Since you are injured, focus on recovering. Until you recover, the organization's affairs will be temporarily handled by others."
This is the second time.
Rum knew that this time, he had completely lost the BOSS's trust.
He said, "I understand, I will take good care of myself."
After the communication was cut off, the ward fell into a deathly silence.
Rum stared at the black screen, his eyes filled with malice.
After a long pause, he slowly spoke: "Contact the best prosthetic company... I need to regain my mobility as quickly as possible."
The subordinate immediately nodded: "Yes!"
Rum controlled the screen with his pupils and dialed Vermouth's number.
"Release them," he commanded curtly.
On the other end of the phone, Vermouth chuckled softly: "What, suddenly had a change of heart?"
Rum didn't answer and hung up the phone immediately.
He closed his eyes, but a cold smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
He could lose this game many times, so he wasn't worried at all!
