I'm in Conan, I'm not a gangster

Chapter 486 Video Evidence

Chapter 486 Video Evidence (2 Updates)
Exhausted and worried, Yusaku and Conan hurriedly returned to the Kudo residence.

In the past few days, in order to find Yukiko who has been kidnapped, they have hardly slept at all. Even when they close their eyes, they can't fall asleep because their brains keep working on their own.

However, when they entered the living room, the scene before them stunned both father and son—Yukiko was humming a tune as she walked out of the bathroom, her wet hair exuding a faint scent of shampoo, her face covered with a face mask, and she was wearing a silk nightgown, looking radiant.

"You're back?" Yukiko blinked, her tone as relaxed as if she had just gone out for a stroll.

Yusaku and Conan exchanged a glance and simultaneously let out a long sigh of relief.

Yuzaku pushed up his glasses and said to his son in a low voice, "It seems your mother still has the energy to put on makeup and a face mask, so she should be fine."

Conan nodded, a smile unconsciously creeping onto his lips: "Yeah, I'd only really worry if I saw her standing in front of me with disheveled hair and no makeup."

Yukiko keenly noticed the father and son's whispering, and while gently patting her face mask, she asked curiously, "What are you talking about?"

"It's nothing!" they both answered in unison, waving their hands in unison.

Yusaku quickly walked over to Yukiko and carefully examined her: "What exactly happened back then? We were so worried."

Yukiko sat down on the soft sofa, rubbing her slightly sore thighs, and recalled, "That day, someone suddenly came to my door, pointed a gun at me, and threatened me to go with them."

As she said this, she subconsciously touched her neck, where the cold touch still seemed to linger: "But I'm not one to sit idly by and wait to die!"

A sly glint flashed in her eyes: "I left clues along the way, thinking you'd find me quickly!"

Yusaku shook his head with a wry smile: "I went to the scene to investigate and asked everyone in the vicinity, but no one noticed the clues you left behind. Besides..."

He said with a great headache, "All the surveillance footage has been deleted, leaving no trace."

"Oh, I see." Yukiko suddenly realized, and said in a frustrated tone, "No wonder I waited in that hotel room for so long and you didn't come to rescue me."

At that moment, Conan's gaze was drawn to a CD on the coffee table.

"What is this?" he asked curiously.

Yukiko followed her son's gaze and shook her head: "I don't know either. The man in black forced it on me when he brought me back."

Upon hearing this, Yuzaku immediately picked up the disc and headed to the DVD player.

As the machine hummed, the image gradually became clear—it was a surveillance video of Yukiko in her hotel room.

Although imprisoned, Yukiko in the video maintains her elegance and composure. Sometimes she leans against the window reading a book, sunlight shining on her profile; sometimes she does yoga in the center of the room, her movements graceful and fluid; occasionally she fixes her hair in front of the mirror, or leisurely eats the fruit and desserts that are brought to her.

"So this is just my daily life in the hotel." Yukiko peeled off her face mask, tilting her head in confusion. "Why are they recording this?"

Yusaku adjusted his glasses, his gaze behind the lenses becoming profound: "This is sending me a message—they are only temporarily restricting your freedom, they are not harming you."

He breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that Rum still had some bottom line, albeit not many.

Yukiko looked at Yusaku with a worried expression, her eyes flashing with unease: "Yusaku, what dangerous thing did you do?"

The air in the study seemed to freeze. Yusaku took a deep breath, took off his glasses and wiped them, finally confessing, "I'm currently working for that black-clad organization."

"What?!" Yukiko's eyes widened in disbelief, and she immediately stopped patting her face mask. Her voice trembled slightly: "You're only telling me this now? It's so important?"

"I'm sorry. I thought I could handle it myself." Yusaku gave a wry smile. "It seems I was too careless."

"You two, father and son, are really exactly alike!" Yukiko sighed, quite helplessly.

She had already heard the whole story from Shiraishi E.

She also knew that the other party was often her son and husband.

If it weren't for them, the two of them would probably have been in trouble long ago.

This is why she was so proactive, even going so far as to disguise herself as Eri Kisaki to please her. "..." Conan scratched his head, unable to refute, and could only smile awkwardly.

"Fine, I can't persuade you either. Do whatever you want." Yukiko knew these two's personalities; once they made up their minds, there was no way to change them.

This statement relieved Yusaku and Conan, who were afraid of Yukiko's opposition.

"I'm tired. I haven't slept well these past few days. I'm going to rest now." After saying that, she stood up from the sofa, turned around, and went upstairs.

Conan yawned and said, "I'm going to sleep too. I haven't slept much these past few days." He then walked towards the attic, chatting with Yukiko as he went, asking how the movie was going.

"Go ahead, I'm going back to my study to take care of some things," Yusaku said, standing there watching his wife and children go upstairs.

Only after the two figures disappeared at the end of the corridor did he enter the study.

------------

Teitan High School, Class 2-B, lunch break.

Bright sunlight streamed into the classroom through the glass windows, gilding the desks with a golden edge.

Ran, Sonoko, and Shiraishi E sat at Shinichi's desk by the window, having lunch and chatting casually.

"Ran, did you see the news last night?" Sonoko suddenly lowered her voice and leaned closer mysteriously: "Something big happened at the Empire State Building."

Xiaolan put down her chopsticks and nodded repeatedly, saying, "I saw it this morning, it seems to be a terrorist attack? The news said that at least twenty shell casings were found at the scene. Now even places like that are not safe."

"It's so-terrifying!" Sonoko waved her hands exaggeratedly. "When my dad heard about it, he immediately added more bodyguards to the house, so I had a private car to pick me up and drop me off at school today." She pouted. "It's so annoying, I can't even go shopping after school."

"Oh, is that so? That's such a pity... Then we won't be able to go shopping together this afternoon." Seeing this, Xiaolan turned her gaze to Shiraishi E and said, "E, are you free this afternoon? Why don't you come to my mom's house for dinner with me?"

"Hmm? Why did you invite me to your mother's house for dinner?" Shiraishi E glanced at Ran, her tone tinged with doubt.

Xiaolan was too embarrassed to say, "Only you enjoy my mom's cooking so much," so she made an excuse, saying, "Didn't you help Mom last time? So she wanted to cook for her to express her gratitude."

"Haha~~" Sonoko said gloatingly, "Emi, you should go! It's rare for Aunt Eri to invite you. If you don't go up, it's disrespectful to Aunt Eri."

"Disrespecting Aunt Eri is disrespecting Ran!"

Seeing the garden stirring things up again, and Ran looking at him expectantly, Shiraishi E felt a mix of emotions. Now he had no choice but to go.

He said, "Alright... But Yuanzi, aren't you coming soon? It'll be more lively with more people. I'll have the bodyguards wait for you downstairs."

"I promised my mom I'd go home as soon as school was over, so maybe next time!" Sonoko came up with an impeccable reason.

She then decisively moved on to the next topic: "Oh, let's not talk about that! How about we go hiking this weekend? I feel like I haven't exercised in ages!"

Xiaolan's eyes lit up: "Hiking? Great! It would be wonderful to breathe fresh air in nature!"

"Great!" Sonoko clapped her hands excitedly. "We can go camping! Spending the night on the mountain and watching the stars, how romantic!"

Xiaolan looked troubled: "But... wouldn't it be troublesome to spend the night on the mountain without a car? We'd have to carry so much equipment."

"Relax, relax~" Sonoko waved her hand, looking relaxed. "I checked, there's a special camping area over there where you can rent tents and sleeping bags."

"And I know the person in charge there, who can reserve the best seats for us!!"

Xiaolan immediately nodded and said, "Okay, it's decided then! Let's go hiking this weekend!"

Shiraishi E nodded, silently accepting the arrangements the two women had made for her.
