Chapter 493 Eri Kisaki, Night Raid

Chapter 493 Eri Kisaki, Night Raid (1st Update)
After changing to a presidential suite, Eri Kisaki was a little tired, so she went back to her room to rest early.

She has to go to work tomorrow and can't stay up too late.

This reason was quite valid, leaving Xiaolan with no reason to refuse.

On the small table on the balcony, Shiraishi E, Ran, and Mouri Kogoro sat in chairs, holding wine glasses and admiring the night view.

Kogoro Mouri tilted his head back and gulped down a mouthful of whiskey, the ice cubes clinking in the glass. He sighed heavily, his brow furrowed. "Those men in black really know how to pick their timing! They had to cause trouble while I was at the spa, giving me no chance to do anything!"

Xiaolan changed into some clothes to rest and glanced at him helplessly: "Dad, you're always like this. You always mess things up at the crucial moment."

Shiraishi E's lips curled into a slight smile: "This is his old problem; he can't change it. He's clearly so strong in judo, but he just can't perform in a match."

Kogoro Mouri became even more frustrated after being teased by the two of them. He scratched his head and muttered, "I don't want to either! But I'm always so nervous, what can I do? I'm so desperate!!"

Thinking about such a good opportunity to perform, he couldn't pick up the pistol even though he still had essential oil in his hand, and he tried to pick it up three times in a row.

This golden opportunity to show off slipped through my fingers.

Just thinking about it keeps him awake at night!
Xiaolan sighed, put down the cushion, and looked at him earnestly: "Dad, tomorrow morning, would you like to get up early and have breakfast with Mom?"

Kogoro Mouri waved his hand dismissively and said, "Yes, yes."

Xiaolan stared at him for a few seconds, then finally shook her head: "Forget it... We can argue over something as cozy as taking a bath together, let alone eating together."

After saying that, she stood up wearily and said, "I'm tired too... I want to go back to sleep. Goodnight!"

After saying hello, Xiaolan headed towards her room.

Only Shiraishi E and Mouri Kogoro remained in the living room.

Shiraishi E glanced at the sullen-looking Kogoro Mouri and chuckled, "Would you like me to have a few more drinks with you?"

Kogoro Mouri remained silent, which meant he acquiesced.

After drinking more than half of his whiskey, he suddenly lowered his voice and asked, "Shiraishi, do you think... Eri has always looked down on me?"

This surprised Shiraishi E. Isn't it normal for people to look down on you?
For a woman to rise to the top of the legal profession in the Japanese online gaming community, where workplace discrimination against women is prevalent, is not just a matter of skill, it's downright incredible!

Let alone you, most people don't even deserve to be glanced at by Eri Kisaki.

To spare Mori's pitiful pride, Shiraishi E raised an eyebrow and asked, "So, do you think you're amazing?"

Kogoro Mori slammed his fist on the table without hesitation: "Of course we're amazing! Didn't we work together perfectly at the Masuyama house last time? We were just killing everything in sight!"

Shiraishi E almost choked on her drink, staring at him in shock.

This guy has such an inflated sense of self-importance!

He now finally understood why Eri Kisaki and Kogoro Mouri always argued when they got together—one was inherently arrogant, while the other was completely oblivious to his own shortcomings.

How could they not argue when they're all together?

Kogoro Mouri was still indignant: "I'm a successful person now, right? But Eri always thinks I only got where I am because of you. Come on, I've worked hard too, okay? Why can't she see that?"

Shiraishi E shrugged, too lazy to reply.

This is a matter of perspective; it can't be resolved in just a few words.

He took a sip of his drink and said casually, "Well, I suggest you talk to her directly; maybe the misunderstanding will be cleared up."

Kogoro Mouri scoffed, "No way! If I go to chat with her, I'll probably just get sarcastic remarks from her again! Why would I go and make myself uncomfortable?"

Looking at his narcissistic demeanor, Shiraishi E suddenly felt a little envious.

At least this guy never gets caught up in internal conflicts; he lives comfortably and with a clear conscience!
The two drank two more glasses, and then Shiraishi Eya got up to say goodbye: "Alright, I'm going back to my room now. You should get some rest too."

Kogoro Mouri waved his hand, continued drinking, and began to wonder if he had done something wrong.

But upon closer reflection, he realized he hadn't done anything excessive!
-----------

At 2:17 a.m., Shiraishi E was awakened by a jolt.

In the darkness, he suddenly opened his eyes.

"Beep, beep"—the phone continued to emit a buzzing sound that only he could hear.

Given the organization's nature, they wouldn't just give up after suffering a loss, so the infrared sensor he had set up in the suite's living room was triggered.

Silently, Shiraishi pulled the Glock 43X from under his pillow, his thumb lightly pushing the safety latch; the cold metallic touch jolted him fully awake. He got out of bed, his bare feet gliding silently onto the wool carpet, like a feline, towards the door.

As he pressed his eye against the crack in the door, the smart sensor light in the presidential suite's living room happened to turn on, casting a warm yellow glow as a slender figure walked toward the open-air balcony.

Eri Kisaki's silhouette, clad in a silk robe, appeared almost transparent in the moonlight, the amber liquid in her crystal glass swaying gently with each step.

Seeing that it wasn't an enemy, Shiraishi E breathed a slight sigh of relief and put away her pistol.

He walked out of the room and onto the open-air balcony: "Would you mind having another person accompany you to see the night view?"

The female lawyer was clearly startled, and the ice cubes in her glass made a crisp sound as they collided.

"Shiro-Shiroishi-kun?" Eri Kisaki subconsciously adjusted the collar of her bathrobe. "Did I disturb you?"

"I couldn't sleep, so I came out to see what was going on when I heard a noise outside," Shiraishi E said, making up an excuse.

“Sorry… I often wake up in the middle of the night.” Eri Kisaki took a sip of her drink and said, “At this point, I’ll have a drink to relax so I can go back to sleep.”

"I can tell you're under a lot of work pressure." Shiraishi E glanced around and noticed that there was also a small wine cabinet on the open-air balcony.

He couldn't help but admire the thoughtfulness of the presidential suite, then took out a glass and poured some wine.

"Which lawyer isn't under pressure?" Eri Kisaki tossed her hair and smiled nonchalantly.

After noticing the other person pouring the wine, she raised an eyebrow and said with amusement, "You, a minor, are doing something illegal in front of a lawyer...you're provoking me."

As Shiraishi casually took a fresh ice cube from the ice bucket and swirled it in the amber-colored whiskey, she said, "I can't help it, I can't sleep without a drink. Every time I close my eyes, all I see are those people dying tragically."

This statement startled Eri Kisaki, and she then realized that she always overlooked the other person's age because of their mature demeanor.

The other person is the same age as my daughter!
Eri's gaze immediately softened; she knew she had to offer some words of comfort.

Otherwise, the child is prone to overthinking and may go down an extreme path!
As she spoke, she put down her wine glass, took Shiraishi E's hand, looked directly into the boy's eyes, and said earnestly, "Listen, Shiraishi-kun, you saved us tonight. If it weren't for you, we would be the ones lying on the ground right now."

"From both a moral and legal perspective, your behavior is impeccable!"

"So, you don't need to blame yourself, understand?"

Looking at Eri Kisaki's sincere expression, Shiraishi E felt inexplicably guilty.

He was just saying it casually, just to give himself an excuse to drink.

As for the guilt and remorse after committing murder...

If he really had that thing, he would have committed seppuku a long time ago.

But... he's too embarrassed to deny it now.

They've taken this so seriously, we can't let them feel awkward, can we?
Shiraishi E simply went along with the act, saying, "Attorney Ki, thank you. Your words make me feel much better."

"Good that you understand." Eri Kisaki smiled and said, "Your parents passed away early, and there were many things they didn't have time to teach you."

"So, if you have any questions, feel free to ask me... don't be shy."

"Yes, I will." Shiraishi E nodded seriously, took a sip, and felt that this matter should be over.

But Eri Kisaki didn't want things to end like this. She picked up her whiskey, took a sip, and asked curiously, "Shiraishi-kun, can you tell me where you learned all these skills?"

"Also, I noticed that you didn't hesitate at all when you made your move."

"Of course, if you don't want to talk about it, you don't have to. Everyone has their own secrets."

When Shiraishi E heard that someone was asking about his past again, he was puzzled. Why do women like to know about other people's past so much?
Haven't you heard the saying "A hero's origins don't matter"?
He was about to respond to Eri Kisaki with the same old response when his phone suddenly vibrated slightly again.

Shiraishi Ei's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly pulled Kisaki Eri away, hiding in a corner.

Eri was startled. Just as she was about to say something, Eri Shiraishi pressed her fingertip to her lips.

"Shh, don't make a sound, someone's coming," Shiraishi E whispered a warning.

Eri was startled and nodded repeatedly to indicate that she would be quiet. She looked at herself leaning against the other person in an unseemly position and wanted to say something to remind her, but in the end she gave up the idea.

The sound of soft, thumping footsteps coming from the living room helped Eri Kisaki focus her attention and stop her from overthinking.
